App for APN's - Nokia Lumia 1020

Hi All,
Just switched from my trusted 900 to the 1020 on AT&T. I love the phone and even updated last night to GDR3 and today unlocked it since I travel a fair bit.
In the past I was able to use the Nokia Connection Setup but a search of the app store doesn't find it. I found it on the net, scanned the QR code and found the app but it says its limited to a 480 resolution. Seems strange but I cannot install it.
Anyone know of a good app that will help me when traveling to add APN's when I insert a new sim? I know that lately, a lot of these phones will find the home network (whatever sim) and add the correct APN but I'm not sure if this is a true statement for all.
Anyone got any ideas? Cheers.

[Q] How do you set more than 1 APN

I'm on Wind Mobile and finally decided to buy a Windows Phone. Decided to go with the entry levle Nokia 710 for now. I got it for only $250 directly from Rogers, as the phone is pentaband. I got the phone unlocked. And I got almost everything working. Phone calls, sms, and internet all work fine. But I can't send or receive mms. My carrier uses 2 separate APNs. One for Internet and one for MMS. But Windows Phone only let's you enter 1 APN. Love the phone, but would love it more if I could send mms.
Check the Nokia marketplace section for some kind of connection setup tool, I'm pretty sure they have one. That might solve your problem.
Beyond that, everything I know of requires either editing the registry or running a native app, and neither of those are yet possible on Nokia.
how do u unlock ur lumia 710. because i have also. but i can't developer unlock my phone
@25baldeep: I'm really tempted to write a very thorough response, well-supplied with links, but all the links actually go to LMBTFY. Maybe that would be maybe a little too snarky?
Instead, how about I just suggest a search (on the web overall or on this forum) for something like Developer Unlock WP7. I'm cutting you a small amount of slack because you're new to the forum... if you don't learn to search before posting though, your posts are going to start just getting reported by people who don't like spam.
Short list of the current options: Buy an AppHub account, or get a free student one.

The nokia connection app did the trick. Thanks Button Hit!
Nokia 710 is not pentaband for 3G. Does the Rogers 710 have AWS support? If not, you won't get 3G on Wind...

It is indeed pentaband and it is a steal at $250 outright. By far the best phone at the price point for anyone wanting to give Windows Phone a try. Using it on Wind right now with 3G.

[Q] How do I add APNs on Verizon Galaxy S3 running 4.1.1?

I have a Verizon Galaxy S3 (SCH-I535) running Android 4.1.1. I was told by Verizon prior to moving to England that, with this version of Android which unlocked the "world phone" capabilities (GSM), that I would be able to use my phone abroad with a new sim on a local network.
Fast forward a few weeks, and I am in England with an Orange sim in my phone. I have no problems with voice, but I cannot access any data services (I have no trouble receiving texts, but cannot send them - I think this is a problem with the sim though). After searching around the internet for a while, it seems that the solution to my problem would be to add the Orange APN settings to my phone.
HOWEVER, Verizon's version of 4.1.1 does not allow you to edit APN settings! When you go to the APN menu, there is nothing displayed and the only settings option is to Reset to Default.
The closest thing I've found to a solution is here, but it's a bit out of date as the method isn't for 4.1.1. I'm a bit wary of rooting my phone and installing a rom, as I've never done anything like that before.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing that might be able to offer a solution? I would be willing to root my phone if necessary, but I'd need to be directed to a pretty explicit noob guide for doing that :silly:
Thanks!
Getting root is easy with the toolkit linked. Should you have any questions you can read the thread or search galaxy s3 toolkit on YouTube. Just keep in mind some videos are outdated and that you have a Verizon cdma galaxy S3 running 4.1.1.

Search this same thread and the APN fixes are here. There is also an APN fix in Note 2 forum that should work. Once you change APN should be good to go with Orange. Say hi to my Uncle in Birmingham. He on Orange also. Cheers.
What ended up being your solution?
I'm going to Italy tomorrow with a Verizon S3 and APN settings are locked. The phone is rooted and I would love to be able to use a local SIM on data!
Thanks in advance.

No solution yet. I'm going to look at the link above when I can get some time to sit down and focus on it. Hopefully it fixes it.
BTW, although it's billed as a CDMA phone, it is able to operate on GSM as well. That's the whole "world phone" thing that Verizon has been talking about.

I understand it's a world phone, but I wanted to drop that in because I wasn't sure if the Toolkit states "CDMA" under the device selection screen. I know the Galaxy Nexus or Razr Toolkit specifically stated CDMA. I just didn't want you to accidentally pick the wrong one. After looking at screen shots of the Toolkit you shouldn't have a problem it doesn't mention CDMA only Verizon is stated.
Unable to add APN.

Hey there,
Sorry for going there, but I have not been able to find a fix for adding in the APN on a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III. I have it on Cincinnati Bell at the moment, and have it rooted. I have voice and text, but not data. I have used the APN Manager Pro to see the APN that I need to use, but for some reason it will not use it or be able to edit it? Any thoughts?

Yes.
Get titanium backup pro and make apn mgr pro a system app.
You should be good after that.
This is confirmed working on Vodafone Italy and ill post results from China and hk in about a month
And please spread the word on this.
Spiting Verizon is my new favorite hobby.
I have a very similar problem. I have a Samsung S3, not rooted, but unlocked from Verizon. I have been in Kandahar for a month or so. My SGS3 with a local provider will make and receive calls great when coverage is there. My problem is, I can only seem to text local here not back to the US, or get email and no Google Talk. I went to the shop where I got my card here, they told me that Verizon needed to unlock my phone. I know it is unlocked but I made the call home, Verizon told me what I already knew. I went back into the store, once again, next they said Verizon needed to unlock my APN? I called again, finally I got a response from Verizon saying that Samsung needs to release the patch so Verizon can unlock it. If anyone knows of such a APN patch I would greatly appreciate it. My lap top screen got cracked during a patrol so doing all of this and email is quite the B!tch! I have always had success with this forum and hope it will continue. Once I send my lap top back home to be warrantied, I will not have any way of getting the usual business done for at least a month. I'm trying to hold off on the lap top until I can get my phone fully functional. I do not have internet connection on my phone, just my computer, I guess that is the APN, that is still locked. I could do all of this if I had WiFi, but it is not allowed here by the company that provides internet. They do have WiFi in some areas, but it is always bogged down with everyone else trying to use it. Also, I am not too sure if I want to attempt to do a root, the internet service here is very slow. Thanks for your help. Please remember, I am atleast 8 1/2 hours ahead of you, so response time will be delayed.
A very helpful member of GalaxyS3forums sent me here.

[Q] Extracting APN details from Softbank Android

Hey everyone!
I signed up to be with Softbank(Jp) last year and got myself the Sharp 203sh, it's a good phone but I wanted a new phone. I did a bit of research and found a few sites with the SIlver Sim card APN setup and thought it'd work for the new phone.
Today I recieved the phone and inserted these settings but it couldn't connect to the data services but only the calling services.
I did more research and found out that android devices from softbank uses a unique username and password for their APN.
Does anyone know how to extract the information out from my softbank droid? If i root my phone (i don't know if i can unroot it) and use catlog , would i be able to grab the information?
any help is appreaciated! thanks in advance!!
Silver SIM

Sure i`ll PM you the info. I`ve got the silver sim that comes with a 2year contract though, are you using the same one?
Thanks, but somehow I found the solution. My Silver SIM is only good for old phones, but not for smart phones. It seems I must replace the SIM. If it doesn't work, I will ask you for more details.

4g LTE broken on verizon m8 after travel

Hello,
My HTC m8 on verizon was working great with 4G LTE until I traveled and used an alternative SIM. Now I can only use 3G. My brother is on the same account and we swapped sim cards. The phone was still stuck in 3G. My SIM connected to 4G LTE on his iphone. Verizon reset a bunch of stuff on the network side (never really sure quite what they are doing when I call). I checked the APN and tried most of the options without luck. I'm not sure what the settings should be, so that would seem to be a good place to start. Verizon sent me a new SIM, but I'm hesitant to go through the trouble of swapping it since it doesn't seem to be an issue with the SIM.
Anyone have the correct APN settings? Any other suggestions for troubleshooting?
Someone on reddit had the same issues (xda won't let me post links yet). I contacted them, but I haven't heard back.
Best,
Josh

what preferred network type is it set to? Global? LTE/CDMA only or something else?
I'm assuming you're running the full stock rom. A factory reset would almost certainly clear it up for you. I know it sucks to set up your phone again but I'll bet it works.

Visible mobile aka Verizon

Been seeing alot of reviews on this service from Verizon so decided to give it a shot and trade in an old phone and get there zte r2 with there unlimted service. Let's just say the device is garbage so I tried popping the sim in my unlocked essential phone. I already know that visible only supports a select few devices but I was curious. It did not work even with there app installed(phone service in a app). I was able to get it to work by adding the visible apn to my apn-config file and spoofing a certain device number. Now mobile data works but cant make or receive calls and text. Any ideas?
I signed up and got the S9. The service is excellent. I switched over many family members. My only complaint is they haven't yet enabled WiFi calling for Android (iPhone works) or conditional call forwarding (YouMail and PhoneFusion).

Yes. It's garbage but it's cheap. Free with a swap and currently $19 to buy. For the cost it's pretty damn good.
Looking to lock my phone down a little tighter. Anyone know what the default SIM PIN is? Got one from "chat", ran it once.....nope.....figured I mis-typed, ran it again....nope.....one more wrong try and phone will lock and I will need a new SIM
Reddit says it is 1212....or 1111. Can someone try those please?
