[Q] Flashing 1020. - Nokia Lumia 1020

So the version available for att is 3045.1325.0001, everyone else is 3049.1330. Until these numbers match up somehow, we can’t flash other roms right? I have been trying to spoof ncs in order to force the flash, but either it fails validating the image, or it just does not work. Is there any head way into this? I am in the us, with an att 1020 on straight talk (unlocked), I am using the att compatible sim card, and I am trying to activate internet sharing. I know that this will work in an unbranded phone (lumia 620 works fine and allows the tethering), I have tried the Spanish keyboard trick, but it just is not working.
Anyone in the same boat?

3050.0000.1338.1001 came out for the rm-875 series a few days back. You can flash that in recovery mode as long as you have an rm-875 subfamily 1020.

In the same boat here. Phone works great on T-Mobile but this 'lock' that AT&T left on the internet sharing is breaking my heart.
Right now I'm torn between returning it for a refund or sucking up the AT&T infection.

[Q] How to use D2G on AT&T

Hello all,
I'm planning on picking up a D2G locally to use on AT&T. So let me get this straight:
1) Buy D2G locally.
2) Flash with 2.4.29 SBF using RSD Lite.
3) I would need to unlock the phone. Can I do this without having an active Verizon account to activate the phone? I realize I can get the code from various resellers but would the phone need to be active on Verizon's network or just previously activated on Verizon's network?
4) Apply the edit cellzealot specified here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16572174&postcount=22
At this point I should be able to use it on AT&T.
5) From what I read I should be able to install and use non-Moto ROMs.
My biggest questions are with steps 3 and 5. Could anyone clarify those steps for me? Is there anything else I should know? Any fixes for the reception issues?
Thanks!
Hi
This is what i have just got done with my D2G and it work great on att . I got 3.6 mb down and 1.8 mb up in NYC . On your step 4 you shoud do this its much easier : w w.mydroidworld.com/forums/android-hacks/8942-tbh-us-gsm-band-unlock-droid-2-global-pro-update-zip-public-release.html#post98026
Good luck !
Thanks, warlord002! I read a post mentioning that update.zip but didn't really look into it. Using the update.zip makes this whole thing a ton easier.
Any recommended ROMs?

If you're lucky, and the purchased code works, you just input it and that's all.
Sweet, thanks for the help guys.
The phone isn't for me so I'll need a stable, functional ROM. I mean stock's always an option, but if there are better ROMs out there that are just as functional I'd rather use one of those. Suggestions?
Can you please explain step two for someone that is new at cdma phone hacking.
Picking up a D2G tomorrow morning. Are there any updates regarding gingerbread and the old radio? Any GB based ROMs out?
Also any websites that can give me the correct unlock code? Seems like its hit or miss for the most part and only Verizon has them forsure. I guess I'll have to do some social engineering and get that code from them somehow.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Well, JFYI: if you're on AT&T, you aren't getting Gingerbread.
Otherwise, Gingerbread update was called off and will be released later (“soon™”).
There is the update.zip from that OTA update, which can be installed.
There are some ROMs in development, but not production ready yet (at least on GSM).
Have fun with your social engineering, mostly because VZW wants you to be on a contract for at least 6 months to get the code.
Yeah I guess I'll stick with Froyo for the timebeing.
The social engineering is failing pretty hard. Tried at least 10 reps through different numbers and they all tell me the phone needs to be active on a line. My best bet now is to add some cash to the deal and ask the seller (vzw customer) to have it unlocked for me.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Many reps are telling me they can't even generate the code if the phone isnt active on their network. How true that is I don't know...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Picked up a D2G a few hours ago. The seller was nice enough to get the unlock code for me from Verizon!
SBFed to .29, rooted, bootstrapped, radio patched, and flashed to hexen all in an hour or so. No issues whatsoever. The D2G's running great on AT&T so far!
Glad to see a few more folks using this hack. It works well despite a few bugs in the original release build.
i got my D2G this morning, and soon ordered unlock code from ebay.
the seller get me the code IMMIDIATELY, and it works!
and the TBH's band hack helps me a lot. i'm now using t-mobile happily
Pls guys help me! I've just bought MY D2G from ebay, seller send my unlock code from verizon, I put it.. but when I inserted my new t-mobile sim, phone couldn't see any GSM network.. i flashed it already to 2.4.29, so what should I do next?
PLS help me, i really like this phone and dont wanna change it to another..

Check here - one more thing to do before you can get T-Mobile on your D2G. Remember you will not be able to get 3G - only GSM, but it will work nicely (and battery life will be great). Don't forget to set the phone to GSM only in the settings - so it doesn't waste power to look for a 3G compatible network all the time.
Apparently you can rip out the radio firmware from TBH's 4.5.606 and still install it via CWM; it works with 2.4.330's baseband.
The question is whether it's possible to make a 2.4.330 update that also doesn't touch the radio firmware, so you could flash 2.4.29 SBF, update to 2.4.330 and then 4.5.606 without touching the baseband, and thus gain Gingerbread with AT&T.
Going through the exact same process! But I can't unlock my phone, I bought it on ebay, the seller said it was unlocked but its not. I tried two of the unlock sim sites with no luck -$20 and two non functioning codes .. Is there anyway to unlock my phone?
Only via Verizon.
you are supposed to be given 2 codes..just in case one of them doesnt work. i got my code form the unlock shack and no problems

Running the phone after Factory Data Reset Without Verizon SIM, How ?

Hello guys,
After loosing my HTC ONE X on the street a week ago, I bought from some guy an almost brand new GALAXY S3 without knowing it is a VERIZON version.
I live in Israel so i had no idea what is the meaning of buying a device that will work only on Verizon network, we only have GSM here.
The guy i bought it from also had no idea what it means as his father bought it on the US and brought it here wishing to sell it as he had no use in it.
Without realizing the mistake I've made, I then made another one, Taking out the VERIZON SIM CARD and giving it back to the owner!
I thought to myself... well... that's his SIM CARD, not gonna be using that one...
Well, i got home to find out i'm in trouble with this deal I've made, i searched for a way to unlock it for GSM networks and i saw that here in XDA someone made it possible.
As i started working on it i had to download from Google play an application, when i was asked to pay for it i saw it's running on the old owners google account, so i decided i don't wanna pay with my credit while he might get the receipt for it and i figured i should do a Factory Data Reset for the phone and start from point zero the whole process.
Sadly i had no idea i'm doing another big mistake because when the phone finished the reset it asked for a VERIZON SIM CARD in order to run, well you know where that SIM Card is - back at the previous owner and i'm not even sure i will be able to track him down again.
I wish to get this device working without any traces of Verizon, maybe beside the name on the back panel of the device.
Now that the device won't even run without the SIM, what should i do ?
Thanks in advance,
Ohad.

Thanks but i was able to track down the previous owner and get the verizon sim card.
I found away to use it on GSM but still im very disappointed because im not sure there´s a real way to remove any trace for the verizon stuff installed here and there are few errors like it is connected to the provider but it says no verizon sim card connected.
and im not so sure all the device's frequencies are "open" for my provider.
I was wondering if there's any option to burn an international galaxy version to the device and it will bypass all of these issues.

not unless you want paperwieght for a device.
Why don't you just flash CM10 or similar to get rid of all the VZW stuff.... that's what I did.

Not sure how to do so, but either way i'm not sure i will get the device working completely normally with my local SIM card on a gsm network, without bugs, without asking me to put a verizon sim card all the time, without having any option to update the device...
I dunno, i thought i could easily get this Galaxy version to become unlocked completely and get it running like all the other guys around...
Unless anybody here have a good recommendation about what should i do to overcome the verizon and networks issues, maybe i should just sell this guy on ebay and get a normal version...
Do you think this would be a smart move to do ?
Beemer - after you flash the CM10, do you still need to unlock the device and do you still get issues running on other than Verizon providers or do you enjoy a device that is similar to the worldwide versions ?
Thanks,
Ohad.
If you flash an international ROM on a Verizon S3, your phone will no longer power on or do anything useful. That's why it will become a paperweight. Flashing an international ROM on your Verizon S3 is one of the easiest ways to make it useless.
International=quad-core us=s4 processor, very different guts.I'd listen to the ppl on this forum, unless you want to end up with a paper weight.

I'm thinking "get rid of it or get it working smoothly", the question is, is it possible to have it running "just like the unlocked international version" ?

Know it works on Touchwiz roms. It may not be in AOSP based roms.
Well, i flashed CM10 successfully, i was able to receive and send SMS before with the Stock ROM, and also to make/receive phone calls but i had sim card issues and errors and also some unwanted Verizon apps and stuff.
After updating the device to the latest Verizon version, i couldn't make phone calls, just receive and i could send and receive SMS.
Now that device runs much faster on the CM10 and i can make/receive phone calls but i can't send SMS.
*UPDATE: I have updated to the latest CM10 version, now i can't connect to the provider at all... no internet/phone/sms at all.
SOS
Ok, Im going to try a different tactic, i saw some people tried flashing At&t Roms on their verizon devices and they done it with success.
So far i tried doing it twice, one time with CM10 ROM for at&t, the 2nd time with stock at&t ROM.
I've tried doing it through CWM.
Both times i got an error while installing... it just didn't move on.
Luckly i had the CM10 for the verizon Zip file over there aswell so i installed that ROM again just to get the device running.
Any ideas how to flash the AT&T ROM on the Verizon Device ???

Model: HTC C625a

Hey All,
I have a Model: HTC C625a (PM23300) originally a Bell Canada phone but unlocked and being used on ATT. Does anyone know if I could flash the ATT factory ROM on this phone? Bell have been slow with any OTA updates and I'm still waiting for portico. As far as I know, the radios are the same.
Anyone done this? Cheers.

Hey! Yep, finally got it but now this tethering thing is bugging the hell out of me... maybe its time for a new phone???
Just FYI guys, I have a Bell 8X on the Bell network, and can tether without any problems. Not sure if LTE works, there's no LTE yet where I live.
I also have an 8X on Bell, tethering works, and have reached as fast as 18 down / 14 up, with 67ms ping in central Vancouver.
I have a Bell 8x on the Fido network and I can tether on LTE as well.
Sent from my C625a using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
The problem is that the phone would tether but would not let the tethered device tunnel through to the internet. It would connect to the devices no problem just no internet connectivity.
I called AT&T and while surprisingly helpful, they didn't have a clue. Then I got in touch with HTC, they tried a couple things and suggested that my phone had a problem and while I could send it back in for "repair", they would just send me a duplicate Bell phone. It is in fact still under warranty. Now that sounded like a plan right up until they told me that it would then be locked to Bell when I got it back and that this new DCMA law now says that only the carrier (Bell in this case) can unlock a carrier branded phone. How do you like that?
So, I have retired my 8X and gone back to a Lumia. I really did love the phone and I hope that HTC brings out a couple new WP8's in the next few months. Something maybe in a 32GB and with SDHC card support??
Anyway, good luck to you all. It is a great phone but I'm not going to buy another new one. This is my second 8X as it is. I'll just wait and see what's next...
Cheers.

Rogers Lumia 1020 vs AT&T Lumia 1020

Does anyone know if there is a difference in terms of apps pre-loaded, etc...
I have an AT&T 1020 and, for example, it did not come with Data Sense loaded. When I upgraded my Rogers 920 to GDR 2 it had Data Sense. Does the Rogers 1020 have it?
Has anyone flashed a Rogers rom onto an AT&T 1020? Based on how long t took AT&T to upgrade the 920 to GDR 2 I think it would probably be better to be running a Rogers rom when GDR 3 comes out.
If you have flashed the Rogers rom to the AT&T 1020 can you outline the steps involved and confirm differences in pre-loaded apps?
as far as i know, the carrier version does not have data sense due to it reduce the data traffic > yes it is money
Everything else is the same.
Actually - the Rogers variant when unlocked runs on AWS networks. I'm told the ATT version does not.
I can confirm it working for me on Wind and TMobile 4G.
Flash Rogers rom on ATT
I have been trying to get this to work with all the steps, but when I am trying to flash the Rogers ROM on an ATT device it always gives me an error: Platform ID is different from the Device Platform ID.
Can anyone tell me how to overcome this error. Need this desparately as I am in Canada and want to get AWS spectrum to work.

From what I have heard no one has been able to flash the att 1020 to a different firmware.
Sent from my Xperia™ Tablet Z
I know this is over a year later but just picked up a Rogers unlocked Lumia 1020.
Mainly to use as a phone when travelling or when wanting something with good camera.
Like it so far.
Question I have is I noticed that there are slightly newer software versions out from different carriers still with RM-877.
Is there any value in getting the tools and flashing them over what I have?
I have uninstalled the Rogers bloatware apps and not really heavily branded otherwise as it only shows it is a Rogers device in the about screen.
Advice?
Also are people installing the developers preview?
Benefits?

Sprint HTC A9 Sim Unlock

Hello I have a Sprint HTC A9 that has been successful unlocked for domestic use, but I have voice with no data. I have S-Off, boot loader unlocked, running stock os. Has anyone else ran into this problem? Can someone please advise?
A friend mentioned that the Sprint variant might not have correct bands installed to be compat with other carriers. I'm wondering if replacing the radio firmware with the developer edition version would work, but I can't get around simlock to test.
HTC A9 Sprint Unlock success!!
Please share? I've been trying for days and made little progress.
There is a guy from Craigslist in my area that did it and he will not tell me, I asked. If there is any kind of way that I can back it up, screen shot it, or whatever. Someone please let me know. I don't have any personal data on it, because it has no data so I'm not using it yet. I don't care about sharing. Let me know and I'm more than happy to.

If it's an MSL code, he should have supplied that for you. I think MSL is unique to the IMEI/MEID/ESN of your device.
About your successful unlock, congrats! Your success let's me know it's do-able. I'm calling a local computer repair shop that offers unlocking services tomorrow. :fingerscrossed:
I've tried a half dozen ways to get this phone unlocked, but so far I've come up empty except for one scenario:
S-OFF
1. Change CID/MID to unlocked and flash unlocked RUU. Phone works fine, radio not functional.
2. Change CID/MID to sprint and flash sprint RUU. Phone will work with T-mobile SIM for one boot-up. As soon as phone is rebooted the SIM locks.
You can't just reflash the sprint RUU either. If you want to get another successful boot, you have to flash the unlocked RUU, then the sprint RUU and you'll get one boot. My only guess is something in the partitions is zero'd out by the unlocked RUU. I've also tried using the CM13 build immediately after the sprint RUU, and again I get one boot, but as soon as I reboot, CM13 shows sim not inserted.
Perhaps someone can make sense of this.

Wow.... you are a life saver Lussardi! Thank you very much!
My HTC A9 has delivered APN setting, which cannot be modified. However, I was able to create a new APN manually and use that one. After that, data started to work. So far, I see it was able to connect to 4G and also LTE. At one place with strong LTE signal, i tested the download speed, and it was 82mbps. I have never seen that kind of download speed on my iPhone.
Thanks,
Sean
// , Did you unlock an HTC One A9 [Sprint] for complete LTE on T-Mobile or on AT&T?
// , Let me make sure I understand this correctly.
Can I do the following:
1. Unlock a Sprint HTC One A9.
2. Buy a data-enabled T-Mobile SIM card or AT&T SIM card.
3. Enter APN & Data settings.
4. Use that same HTC One A9 with T-Mobile or AT&T, with no loss in performance?
If this is true, that surprises and pleases me.
I assume that one can unlock an AT&T HTC One A9 for use with T-Mobile with no loss in performance, as well?

My Sprint version of HTC A9 has been working on T-Mobile's network for almost a week now. I see no issues so far. Data connection is still good with connecting to LTE most of the time.

i am not sure if my experience is any different from others here. but, here's the detail of what i went through....
My Sprint variant of HTC A9 was purchased directly off htc.com back in 11/2015. Since the phone was paid in full, I believe the phone was not locked to begin with. I had been using it on Sprint for the past 10 months. Just recently i switched my plan to T-Mobile. With T-Mobile's sim, I see the phone picked up the sim card. Phone started to work (i can make/receive calls) but data would not work. I talked to a couple of HTC rep for support. Both of them told me it should work. From their understanding, A9 and the new HTC 10 should work on all US major carriers...especially mine is a CDMA phone. According to them, CDMA ones can work on GSM....but GSM would not work on CDMA network. Anyways, they were no help for me.
I started doing research on my own and found many people experiencing the same. Phone would work but data would not connect. It was not working until a member on this board, Lussardi, came to rescue. He suggested to manually put in APN. So, I started to check out the APN setting. I see with t-mobile's sim card in, the phone is using a delivered T-Mobile APN setting. I went ahead and created one myself named T-Mobile Manual. I put in APN: fast.t-mobile.com and MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc and left everything else default. After I selected to use this new APN, the phone started to pick up mobile data. Now, depending on the area that i am in, i can see it's using either 4G or LTE. At one place with strong LTE signal, i did a speed test. It was over 80mbps.
Anyways, that's all. Good luck everyone.
// , Thank you!
// , Thanks for the thorough response, and for not just giving up.
The large corporations generally don't care too much about usability for this sort of outlier customer experience.
Can you give any instructions on how you unlocked the sprint version of the HTC A9?
Thanks.
