launcher redraw fix - G2 Themes and Apps

i know a lot of you guys hate the redraws as much as me!
the app pimp my rom has a setting to lock any app, even system apps in memory.
lots of other cool stuff to.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908269
please give
Androguide.fr a thanks as know he has put a lot of work in this over time.
there is A LOT of stuff in there so
also please post what works for you and doesnt work .

It has to be fixed in a different way friend. From services.jar.

yep, which v6supercharger is supposed to do.
however, when i did it, it STILL redrew.
i tried that app and it didn't do a thing..now i'm using rom toolbox to see if that helps at all.

Yeah I wonder the same thing. I have some lag in settings etc.. But I have nothing that would remotely resemble launcher redraw.

Try using another launcher, I use Nova prime and it redraws only when I reboot my phone and GMD hidesoftkeys runs. Else it never redraws even from running Deadzone

Best Homescreen replacement?

I loved to use adw in the past but recently the updates made it unusable for me... so i am looking for a replacement...
Maybe i should just stick to an old version of adw (i unfortunatly didnt backup mine before updating)
So what are you guys using?
Ps: and please dont tell me to google or "this thread already exists" coz i want new information
Yea, ADW has started crashing on ocassions, its really annoying. Dont know what alternative is good like this.
ADW ftw! Never had an issue with it.
I for one am interested in trying the LG Optimus launcher once we get Eclair. Im an organization freak so the customizable app drawer appeals to me. Also looking forward to trying Launcher Pro Plus with Eclair. Currently using ADW and have no problems.

Have you not tried the "group" feature in ADW? Open the app drawer and press the menu button - choose group - New catalog, name it, choose apps to be in it, then when you go into the app drawer you just press the menu button and choose your new group.
I had been using Slidescreen pro since last 3 weeks and with facebook and Google reader integration working with it,i have laid Timescape and the old ADW launcher to rest in peace.
I can assure you would get a different experience once you start using it........

Yeah i use the group feature. I like it but the LG has all apps on one screen with groups seperated by heavy lines with titles. Im being fussy here is all ADW is by far my fav to date. Just looking to try something new.

damn i have to write somewhere in my profile that i started to code my own stuff when i was 15 years old ...
sure i tried to reinstall, delete settings, reset, just restart, play with different settings and i even tried to talk to it (j/k)... none of the things worked ...
can you do me a favor and try to press and hold the home key to switch between recent apps and then press the home key again?
everytime i do this i have to set it as default home again - this is way more annoying then the little crashes i experience all the time and for me it makes adw totally useless now ...

thx guys ... and wtf i cant get it to work
try LIVEHOME which is also a home screen replacement, nearly the same as adw but has a few more features, one of them is transitions, you can flick through you home screens like pages in a book (love it). Try it out.

ok after playing around a lot with settings i have to apologize to my beloved adw launcher
ok it still crashes a lot in the newer version but my main problem - that it cant remember the default home - is on the stock android homescreen too so i guess somehow my software is ****ed up *cry* ...
guess i have to reflash (god damnit this **** is more buggy then windows 95)
edit: btw livehome looks really nice ... i like that you can change the icons in the drawer
Update: after reinstall and some hours later i got crashes again and that home-button problem too.
Now i set only the adw-homescreen to "dont auto-rotate" and i have no problems now.

[FIX] lag on homescreen redraw on ADW & LauncherPro

I recently found this while looking in the Viewsonic G Tablet forum here on XDA, and decided to try it on my Evo. I can confirm that it works - my homescreen with ADW and LauncherPro redraws with no perceptible lag.
YMMV

If you use ADW or LauncherPro and if after using your browser, email or any other apps for awhile, then if you press the 'HOME' button, if it takes forever to redraw your home screen, and you are sick of that HORRIBLE LAG, then try this: In a terminal,
type su and enter.
Then type echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 >> /data/local.prop and enter.
Then reboot.
Now evaluate whether or not this fixes your lag.
My home and app drawer draw so much faster now!!!
This was originally posted, on the Gtablet forums, here by raydog153 but its makes ADW Launcher so much better that it demands its own thread.

my brother has a samsung vibrant he uses launcher pro plus on. do you think this will work for him?
Nice, Bro!
Been trying to figure a way to stop the lag in ADW EX...I wonder if this will fix the 4D app drawer force closing and causing ADW to restart...I'm gonna go try this and I'll edit this post if it stops the lag and crashes with the 4D app drawer...
No...it does not fix the 4D app draw issues but it does help redraw the home screens and app drawer after a FC/Crash...

Typically this doesn't make a difference until you're using something that has a high graphic content - the redraw is usually slower from there. That's where I noticed an immediate difference

No major difference for me as far as speed with going from screen previews to default homescreen (my biggest speed foobar in cm7). Hopefully this will be of some benefit under load, else I'll just nuke the file it created.

[Q] Is it possible to create folders in the main app menu?

I just figured out I can make folders on my gsll phone in the app menu. (Not the home screens) I can put all the carrier BS and other app icons I don't want to see in there. It brought my app screens to 3 swipes from 5. Is that a standard Android feature or something Samsung added in with touchwiz? I would be interested in doing the same on my tablet.
That sounds like a Samsung Touchwiz feature. As far as I know, stock app drawer does not support folders/dedicated pages.
However, you can simply get a non-stock launcher such as Apex or Nova and they support app drawer folders, plus a multitude of extra features lacking in the stock launcher

[Q] wallpaper cropping issue after JB update

I have a problem with the wallpaper picker after update to JB: If the image is portrait I cannot set the whole image as wallpaper. See the attach image of the problem.
Anyone has this issue? Is there any fix to this issue?
Thats because part of the width is used for the scrolling. If you disable scrolling wallpaper you can use the entire image.
I dont know how to disable it in the stock JB rom though.
Wallpaper scrolling is disable in JB with sense 4+ and as far as I know it cannot be enabled.
Ok, thats weird, you should be able to use the whole picture then.
Solution found. I installed GO Launcher and disable wallpaper scrolling from GO settings. Now the wallpaper cropping works OK. It seems that wallpaper scrolling was enabled after all, but the default sense launcher ignored this option.

I'm afraid there's no solution with stock yet? It's just annoying because now that the wallpaper scrolling is permanently disabled in stock JB, i think it's best for a 540x960 wallpaper..

I want to stick with the stock launcher, but when I disable wallpaper scrolling from GO launcher it remains disabled for stock launcher to. It's not a perfect solution but it's the best I found.
I hope the HTC guys will fix this issue, but I'm not holding my breath...

Oh, look at that. Thats nice then, and shouldnt be hard to make an app that disables it without the need for a 2nd launcher.
Edit: I did a quick search on google, maybe this one can help? Not really scrolling WP enable/disable, but looks quite good anyway. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shirobakama.wallpaper
This app seems to be recommended by many as well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.twistedapps.wallpaperwizardrii

I spoke with HTC support and their answer is that the wallpaper cropping is working as designed:
"kindly note that this is not an issue this is how Google (Owner of Android) decide to be used this option"
and after telling them that this isn't a Google related issue:
"The way how your phone is cropping the image is how our engineers decide to be."
So I think that this issue will not be fixed, at least the first app works OK and I don't need a second launcher.
Yeah, of course its google's fault.. Thats why the issue is present on AOSP roms and when using other launchers, as well as all other manufactures roms... oh wait... it isnt...
Why cant they just admit they (probably) forgot to set a flag that scrolling wallpaper = false in their launcher... Because thats quite obviously the case here.. The launcher(sense) does not support scrolling wallpapers, but android thinks it does..

You have to manually give all permissions before opening for the fist time.
Strange Huawei bug with many custom launchers it would seem.

The link in the op works on non rooted handsets (it did on mine anyway!)
Be sure to give the app all available permissions BEFORE you run it for the first time or it will crash.

How are you guys getting this to work? I installed Launcher3-aosp-optimized.apk then updated the permissions but I can't run it. I would have expected to just press the home button and it would ask which launcher I want to use but that doesn't happen.
