[MOD] Google edition Boot Animation [Flash] - G2 Themes and Apps

The LG G2 uses the standard bootanimation.zip format and can be easily replaced.
You require root and recovery to flash this zip.
Use at your own risk!
Download attached file and flash in recovery
Reboot
Enjoy!
This should work on all variants.
This will not remove the boot sound, however that can be manually removed with a root file browser.
I did not create the zip file, had it around from my S4 days. Credits to original author that created it, who ever you are!

Have you installed it yet?
Anyone else try it?

Yes I have. Works as expected.

Flashed on VZW G2, confirm working great! Thanks, I hated the verizon bootup.

Thanks! This is way nicer than stock.

Very nice. But is there a way to get rid of or change the sound? I still hear the att boot sound, which is ****ty IMO.

Pretty sure it is located in /system/etc/poweron.ogg
Rename or move to get rid of boot sound.
Someone correct this if it is wrong. That was the first thing I did with root and can't remember the exact location.

I'm gonna try renaming them and see if that works. Haven't TWRP'd yet so I can't install this boot anim. Soon.
EDIT: renamed them to poweronx.ogg and poweroffx.ogg with Root Browser, no more boot sound.

You don't have to install TWRP (or any recovery) to utilize the boot animation. Just extract the file in the OP and replace/overwrite the phone's 'system/media/bootanimation.zip' with the one located in the OP's zip. ('GoogleEditionBootANI.zip\system\media\bootanimation.zip')
Of course you do need root to apply this, but not a custom recovery. Just an FYI for those who may not know...

and
do you delete the annoyng operator boot logo too ?

Thanks for this. One less Verizon image makes a big difference. Seems to boot faster also.

Thanks man. Sound files are at system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg.

just curious, how do you get the stock boot animation back if you wanted too? thanks

Boot animation

Hello... I'm trying to change the boot animation on my SGS2 (ski-rocket)' with the app called "boot animation ",? But it doesn't change it? And yes I'm rooted. Am I missing something? ...anyone??
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
Boot animation on our device has been tweaked by Samsung. They're not using the same standard method most Android phones use. It's being worked on by a few of the devs right now and hopefully we've have something soon.
+1 For hating corporate logos.

If you are rooted navigate to root/system/media/
in that folder should be bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg
these are the bootanimations and some international ones have been posted for the t989 as far as I know. For bootanimation.zip to work it would have to be enabled on the kernel level. Good luck and enjoy your devices !
***The AT&T logo is most likely a logo.rle type of image that is embedded in the kernel itself, that is the case on the t989 and is more than likely mirrored on the i727
Hmmm.. rle files. There are actually two of those in the root directory.
initlogo.rle and lpminitlogo.rle
I googled a little on how to convert these around but can't do much from work (several paid apps, didn't verify if they work). Who can convert these and how can we convert other boot animations to this format?

I would love for someone to figure this out. I would like the Galaxy Nexus Boot animation on this phone.
Who ever is working on this I would be more then happy to donate to your cause.

SGS2 Bootup

right now you need to use custom ROM to do that.
this ROM work great and it let you change the boot animation http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377087

Neither of these worked for me on my SR. CWM showed ICS installed fine, but when I rebooted it was still the Samsung and AT&T animations. So then I went back to CWM and installed the SGS2 boot, but I got the same result.
Any suggestions?

I'm confused, how is that not the right one? The youtube link you added had the stock G2x animation with Andy taking off. The file he uploaded was the stock \system\media\ folder, which had the animation in it that you wanted.
Am I missing something?

I had the same issue - I think it's something to do with the boot.img not updating when the rom is flashed.
I fixed it by extracting the boot.img from the rom zip and then flashing the boot.img in fastboot then flashing the rom - I also flashed the apps/mods pack after.
lol i just flashed the boot.img through fastboot, and it worked. do i miss out on anything by doing this ie anything in the folders inside the zip i should be flashing also?

sweet as - glad it worked for you as well...
I don't think so - do you mean inside the rom zip??? The rest of that should install with the rom just for some reason the boot.img isn't flashing for some of us.
Maybe to do with our hboot version
yeh i'm thinking i'll re-flash via recovery see if i've missed something. Whats in the apps/mods pack?
apps/mods allows you add/remove apps and there's a few mods like multi-tasking, HQ camera to name a few.
cheers for the help mate, i like the wizard they have put into it makes choosing what to install a breeze... thanks coming your way

AIO VZW M8 Developer Resource Thread

Allright kids...with the release of a firewater S-OFF method for the VZW M8 apparently around the corner...I got a little antsy. I noticed we have no resources available when we do get the ability to play, so I decided to go ahead and put together a few things for those of you who will undoubtedly follow and want to start cooking your own ROMS.
Here's what I've got for you:
STOCK ROOTED/DEODEXED/BUSYBOX/INIT.D ENABLED/DEBLOATED ROM
So obviously, I can't test this yet. But I'd be astonished if it didn't work. This should be a fully rooted, fully flashable stock ROM you can use once we have S-off and a custom recovery. The boot.img has been modified to fix system write and add init.d support for all your scripting pleasures. All apks and jars have been deodexed and zipaligned.
In short, you should be able to use this for whatever creations you want out of the box once we are unlocked and running.
(not working yet, files for dev purposes only ATM)
ROM DOWNLOAD
Kernel Source
VZW-SPECIFIC/BLOAT APPS
This will be a separate .zip including all the stuff that just makes the ROM big and clunky. Devs can choose to re-add these to the ROM, but I will not distribute the bloatware with the stock ROM. If you want to grab an extra 500MB of crap...have at it.
DOWNLOAD HERE
COMPLETE PARTITION LIST
A full enumeration of the partitions on the VZW M8, along with their names. Useful for creating update scripts.
Gdoc
CSV
STOCK RECOVERY/HBOOT/BOOT IMAGE
Because when you play, you sometimes need to fix things. Very possible I will upload a full dump as time permits, but for now, here are the basics should you screw something up once the doors are open...
Recovery.img
Boot.img
Hboot.img
Hopefully, this will not be seen as a placeholder thread. I've got the stock deodexed/rooted just about done...I just need the proper update-binary to make it usable when we have the ability to flash stuff. I will be keeping this updated with goodies as they are to be found.
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B0OpOqUNqeKkWXI2S0RScmM1S0k&usp=sharing
Here is the link to the full directory of resources that I am uploading to in Drive. The stock rooted is about 72% uploaded, and the apps package will follow...but I'm lazy and feel like taking a nap.
Apps are not a flashable at this time...but then again, that really doesn't matter because we can't flash anything yet. They're just there to be added to the base ROM to make it the full system dump. Once we can actually flash, I will begin cataloging which apps can be further removed without any detriment to the system.
I really look forward to the M8 S-Off. I think this is the phone I will get my hands dirty with.

if you flash the image from a rootkit, wouldnt you have to start from scratch?
