New bootloaders scare me

New boot loader eh? Have they altered it up unto this point?
Sent from my 2014 Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4.4

Not sure but they did something to the memory...
There is a DDR partition. Never seen that before.
But then again I never looked. I had to pull it straight from the OTA zip file because there is no factory image yet.

how to install it?
wipe?
install zip from sdcard?

Must i flash the new bootloader separately or is it in the rom ?

With the new bootloader is Secure Boot=enabled new or has it always been there.

Installed, flashed bootloader first then Rom in recovery and rebooted. No noticeable difference but then again just installed it. We monitor and report back.

Runs fine, thanks.
After the first boot i lost root, but i flashed supersu and now is everything ok.

Strange, had no problem with root on my install. Nice thing about the nexus is that a simple reflash of supersu and voila, rooted.

Had no problems with the bootloader or the deodexed rom. Can't wait for the changelog!!

Thanks a lot, no problems at all, rooted and everything.
Ed: do you know if latest franco kernell will work on it

It works fine.

Yep it works, I even installed ElementalX 1.4 kernal, it did blackout after hitting finish but a hard reboot got it back on.

Since I don't see any news about what this update does or anything I will figure it is not super important and just wait for it to hit Clean Rom

I didn't have much problem with the multitouch but it seems improved. I guess is the main reason for this update.

Is it recommended to flash bootloader and ROM in separate recovery sessions with reboot in between or is it ok to flash in the same session?

I updated from gingeryohi rc5 to rc5.1, restored apps, set some settings and rebooted. Then my phone stucked @ vodafone bootscreen. i wanted to restore it by recovery, but it stucked too-.-
Then i tried to restore a nandroid by adb when running the stuck recovery but didn't work..
so i decided to reset the phone to stock cupcake by bootloader with "sappimg.nbh".
Then it updated some things like system, data, ... after that i had 2 options: Reboot and power off.
I choosed reboot.
The phone stucked again at vodafone screen and reboots again and again and I don't know what to do.

--->I assume no liability for damage<---
If you dint follow the instructions on how to flash, you most probably semi brick't it, meaning you have low level stuff plus kernel initializing but not android runtime.
This happened to me before and I had to delete the android secure file or try using super wipe which more safe. I know how u feel. Good luck just searching around.

Hmm.. could it be that there is a wrong kernel on the phone.-> The kernel of my last rom? Can I flash the right kernel via Bootloader or fastboot???

I don't have to follow any instructions to flash lol. I did it 100 times... The strange thing is that i flashed the rom and it booted and ran. Then i restored some market apps and set settings like display brightness, Ringtone and some other small things. And after i rebooted it stucked at Vodafone (provider) screen :/ But thats not longer important because I restored the phone and i'm only able to use the bootloader. But android still don't work.

Heimdall One-Click Defuse. The easiest way to get CWM installed so you can flash ROMs

introduction
Hey guys, I was trying to figure out how to root my device so I could install CWM, so I could install jellybean or something... I totally forgot I made a one-click CWM installer.
Here is a one-click for the Defuse1.5 kernel by LinuxBozo with CWM installed. It's old, but it's a good launchpad for a stock device.
This works on Windows, Linux and Mac and Windows and Linux. Make sure you follow the in-app directions if you've never used Heimdall.
Instructions
1. reboot into Download Mode
2. click the flash button in this app
3. if any problems, repeat with flash bootloaders option checked
4. reboot into recovery
5. flash rom
6. advanced>reboot recovery you will now see a blue recovery instead of orange.
7. flash rom again

Quick question, Adam.
In step three, you had wrote, "repeat with flash bootloaders option checked."
Does this package contain GB bootloaders, being a 2.2.1 kernel?
If someone came directly from 2.2.1 and had never had a previous GB bootloader, will they see the distorted rainbow recovery?
I was not sure if this package had bootloaders.
Thanks.
Thanks, but when click on the download link I just get a page that says welcome to nginx...

The picture isnt showing....
But ur recovery may need to be updated.
Can u flash one of ur backups?
If so, boot up and update ur recovery.
Then just make sure u have correct ROM version for ur phone.
I hope that helps.

There I fixed the picture, but no I cant flash any of my backups because I deleted them for some reason some earlier backup was not working and the second one I delete it by accident. And the roms form my cell I have been getting the right ones from nexusshacks.com and cyanogen website. I was thinking in something more like pushing the rom thru a computers comand prompt thast my next step.

I found some tutorial in order to push the rom with command prompt but it's not working neither. does any of you know why not or if I'm doing something wrong here the link of the tutorial and at the end I posted whats what the command prompt came up with. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667929
Do you consider updating your recovery and rom?
My next step will be using the odin called tool for restoring everything. I'll let you know how it goes.

And when the system reboots, it brings me to the TWRP Bootloader screen.. even if i push the reboot to system button, the update failed to be applied.
Any tips?

You can't flash any official OTAs with TWRP. It's a known fact, nothing you can do about it. Reflash stock recovery, or just use a close to vanilla custom ROM that gets the monthly security updates.

OTA update is not installed

I am offered a new OTA Rom from the updater - I download it and then in the Recover I am supposed to enter my password for the Encryption as my drive is encrypted from the factory.
Phone boots into recovery and after 1 second it boots back to normal. The message for entering the password does not appear
Who can help me?
Thanks Gordon

No - its the original stock rom. i got the handy as christmas gift. which twrp ist the newest and is there an install documentation?
I take it that it is the original EU ROM? If it's stock Chinese, then ignore this post, stock recovery works ok but I know some sellers put on a copy of EU ROM before selling it, so please check your ROM details first.
There is a newer twrp but the one have been using is the original that says it's a mi 10 pro but it works fine. Here is a link to a word doc that wrote about installing ROMs for the ultra. https://mega.nz/file/6UAhXCxZ#Np2KwhMnl8obmOvp4b-2R9ajo0zrtz3vwefy-Ya3PLs
Just use the section on twrp installation through a PCs fastboot app, then reboot system and use the OTA or flash direct from twrp. Links are in the doc for twrp or use http://mifirm.net. Apparently the latest twrp works ok too but I have not installed it yet or put a link in the doc but here is a direct link from my mega folder https://mega.nz/file/TUh0mLAZ#0jYRCIeAiCJEMW1eIvWzPSWG2MuKJMG5V-wgxtWT80M
If you are on A11, you may need to disable your lock screen password before update but twrp will let you know.
Hope it helps.
