I understand that. However this is the only theme "I" have come across requesting so many.

Developers want to ask for many permissions as they don't know what they will need from their users in future, so it's better to have more permissions

permissions
Guys permissions depends on the app, think Torch app only need Camera and Flash permission if they require GPS permission that is strange...

Themer ask too mutch permission. After installed on my testing phone, it doesn't work at all, but send all my fake content...

Well it's not as many as Facebook.... sigh ..

looking for aosp lockscreen

ok so i know you can usually just use titanium backup to remove the respective lockscreen apk to get rid of the custom lock screen on android phones, that doesnt work on galaxy phones though. I HATEthe galaxy lockscreen. ive found some info on removing the samsung lockscreen from the captivate/vibrant/epic, but nothing on the 4G. Does anyone want to try to tackle it? Ive read somewhere that the same method wont work on the 4G.
There have been a few lockscreen threads but not just to remove the default lockscreen on the 4G.
thanks for looking
bump....anyone?
Its not that simple. You have to modify a lot of framework behaviors. I'm working on a mod but I'm stuck with one file and will probably contact hawkx to see if he can give me a hand.

thanks for the response, I know it isnt easy, I was wondering if anyone started tackling it yet. I found a flashable zip for the vibrant and epic, but we havent got to that point on the 4G yet. Hopefully someone can figure it out..im sure im not the only gs4g user who hates the lockscreen!
Actually, if all you want is the Aosp lockscreen, it 1 word that needs to be changed.

Android Market 3.4.4 - Notice a speed boost

Just curious, does the new Market seem a lot faster for you guys too?
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/12/14/download-android-market-3-4-4/
Just download and install. No root needed either. Seems much better. Also looks better on my Tab than the older version.
Nice. Can't wait to check it out later.

How do I install this? Should I manually push the apk with root explorer for it to work? I tried regular install but it doesn't install.
Update: I manually pushed it with root explorer and it worked. Thx for the tip.

I would push/replace, clear dalvik and reboot.
I just installed like any other apk... No problem
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I simply downloaded it... clicked on the completed download... then had the option to install... went straight to the market and checked the version, no issues at all.
Renamed and pushed no problem. Def faster.
I hope this fixes the "insufficient space" bug on our phones.
Noticeably faster for me.

when it comes to the market, it only updates when it's open. it's the only app that does it that way. all other apps will show in the notifications. if I'm wrong, please let me know, but I don't think that's the case.

How do you know that this is the ONLY app?
But anyway, my point is if Google can do it on Android platform it does not matter with one app or many.
PS: off-topic, Google Map subscribes to bunch of intents, so it would be launched when you turn-on screen, WiFi etc... I would like start application when I press app icon... There are no other way to opt-out other then disable Map in pm.
Google maps can be stopped by using the app autostarts. All those apps that start by themselves when you do something, ie reboot phone connect to wifi ect... no longer plague me. True, I just delete most of them, but there are some I actually use (like maps and Gmail).
Unfortunately I can no longer find the exact app I use in the market, though I'm sure there are others that do the same thing. If anyone would like the apk for the one I use just let me know and I can post it next time I'm on my laptop.

Autostarts is a paid app in the market.
If you found the developer posted it for free on XDA, please link to that... otherwise this breaks XDA rules.

You could use Apex Launcher (or any other custom launcher) other than that those apps will act that way because the android memory management will shut them down after being in the background for a while.

Google have blocked access to it in 4.4 so the built-in app is no longer available.
Coming from CM10.2 I was hoping to at least be able to use this with my N5, but alas it's not so .

I believe they blocked the APIs used by the permissions editor which is why it crashes - but I'm struggling to find the reference I read that had this info.......
afaik they removed it completely. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47098228&postcount=2
One of the best features ever introduced to android and they remove it. Might even downgrade my N7 because of this.

I downgraded my N4 back to 4.3. Disabling app ops is terrible. Even apple has this feature: iOS alerts you if any app wants to access your contacts, or your photos, or your camera, and you have a choice to allow or not. Android 4.3 does not alert you, but at least you have the option to dig into the App Ops and revoke access to certain things. 4.4 is the first time an android upgrade dissapointed me (they destroyed the alarm app, the keyboard, the wifi indicator's activity/internet access, and App Ops).
App ops was never an official feature, so they technically didn't remove anything.

So? It's still a feature they included, with easy access, and then took away even though it was nothing but effective for the users...

I'm with you on the users defending Google like the can do no wrong, but definitely disagree about the YouTube g+ integration... They needed to clean YouTube up, and now I can see friend's comments on videos more easily and only view the comments and responses of certain people... That was a good idea..
I think Google is completely wrong by blocking this app ops function, if that's what happened here...

[Q] Root DRM Trick?

Hello,
I've been helping a friend with her Tab 2 p5110 (Wi-Fi model).
Late last year I rooted it and installed CyanogenMod (10.1.3 Stable).
It's much better than the bloated original rom, however one of her primary uses of the tablet was to watch TV shows from catch-up apps, now of which at least one isn't working.
It's Plus7 - that of the Seven Network in Australia.
It says something about it not being able to work on rooted or modified devices for copyright reasons.
I may not have searched enough or properly, but I was wondering if there's any way you can trick the app into believing it's using the original firmware, or has the rights restrictions it requires to work properly, on a rooted device?
I would hate to have go back to the Samslow rom...
Many thanks,
Tom
There's a module for the Xposed framework that will hide root, but I'm not sure if it'll work on the app you have. It would be worth a try.
