Cases - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone one found a good screen protector and case?

Otterbox ordered through Verizon is good.

I got this one http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Mat...e=UTF8&qid=1378332217&sr=1-1&keywords=xt1080m and love it flexible but still stiff not like jelly and if fits like a glove but very easy to pop off if you want. It doesn't even look or feel like a case is on to be honest. I used to always take by bionic case off at home because it was to bulky not this one it's just perfect and at 10 bucks it's a steal.

I'm looking for a horizontal kickstand case

I have had diztronic cases on my last 4 phones and now my maxx and I love them. They fit so tight that no dirt gets under the case. I never liked cases on my phones in the past but these ones seem like part of the phone.

I also ordered the Otterbox through Verizon. Got it a couple days ago. Surprisingly it did not add much bulk to the phone. Only complaint, I'd like the back to be less smooth and a little more textured. Other than that its a great case.

Otterbox would be for if you want more protection on the phone.
If you want to go minimal, get the Diztronic TPU case like bigv5150 mentioned.
The Otterbox Defender will give you an integrated screen protector. I'm just using the overpriced ones from Verizon, which I'm not a huge fan of, but I did also order some cheapy "Supershields" screen protectors from Amazon. I haven't used one yet, but I am not expecting much from $2 protectors. They come in a 6-pack, however, so even if they are crap, at least I can switch it out whenever one of them gets scratched up.

Did yours come with a screen protector in it? I just got mine in the mail from the verizon site and mine did not come with one even thought it mentioned that it did. Others seem to be reporting that theirs was missing as well.

No screen protector in it... Oddly enough its a different color than what's advertised on otterboxes website. Must be a Verizon exclusive

I really liked the Diztronic case for my Bionic, but I think the new bumper is the way to go with the Maxx. It apparently isn't available for the Ultra or Mini, at least for now.
Shown in red below to make it more visible, but mine is dark gray. I like the way the carbon/Kevlar back shows through.

The new defenders are a lot better than what my galaxy nexus had. The reinforcement on the belt clip is different, less fragile in appearance. Same for the snaps around the case. Easy to remove too. And the rubber doesn't pull off either without opening a port! Needs colors though.
A google search revealed Trident cases specifically for maxx. Not listed on company website but available for purchase from online retailer.

I had this same exact case for my G2x, It wasn't as nice and didnt fit as well as it looked on the web. I really miss the fusion case I had for my MT4G that one was my favorite case. It was very similar yet much better. I wouldnt buy this case again for my sensation after seeing the exact one on my g2x This was the best one for the MT4G: http://www.ambitronic.com/product_info.php/mytouch-fusion-case-p-480
This was the same one as the sensation that I thought was pretty bad on the G2X (and I had two of these cases from different venders)

The only thing I'm afraid of is that it'll turn yellowish over time.
Very happy
Just got mine 5 cases for 12 bucks good cheap cases live in Arizona the shipping only took 7 days from China. Very happy
I've had my TPU case for a few days now, and I've found that it obstruct a micro-USB cable so it does not solidily stay plugged in. Do you have this issue as well or did I just get a bad vendor? (I have this one - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054HA45A )
Thanks
Case & Screen Protectors
I just got the this case for $5.95:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XYHW1Y
They also sent two screen protectors for free. The case is very thin and it lets you see the phone's back, which is great. This might not be the case for someone looking to FULLY protect the phone, as it doesn't cover the top and bottom of it.
Now it is only $1.99 plus S&H, it doesn't gets better than that. Although not related to cases, you should buy this car charger:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000S5Q9CA
I got it for my N1 and it works great with the S4G.
try this one,nice awesome

bought that kind, dont have it yet. did have on on my mt4g, worked beautifully. Fav case ever. usb port was a little tight on generic usb cords, but the htc cables have small heads that fit fine.
In my searches for a good TPU case, I came across this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180699200569&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_738wt_1037. It's cheaper than the TPU-Cases brand and it also comes with a screen protector. I think it looks great with a matte/gloss dual finish, but I'm not sure if I should buy it with the lack of a power button cutout.

I REALLY like the way that one looks, and with free expedited shipping, its worth trying. It't be sweet if it were orange though.
I just ordered 1 of this hard rubber and 3 of this tpu cases.
I believe they have a very good price and high quality.
I bought this case last week and it is the best tpu case I have ever seen or used! Looks so sexy on the sensation. It has all the extra holes on the back as well and it fits like a glove. The seller is also selling one for $2 more with a screen protector. Can't say how the sp is as I haven't tried it, but I highly suggest this case.

When is the Otterbox coming out?

Title says it all. When will the Otterbox be out? Also, if it's not for a while, what is the best case with a balance of protection while still keeping the profile slim?
Sent from my Droid Charge running Humble 1.4
They have the Commuter series out and there is absolutely no ETA for the Defender. I got the phone about a week after launch and have been waiting also.
There's no single Otterbox case, as they make a whole line. The Commuter, which is their somewhat-slim case, is already out and has been for some time -- I have it on my phone right now.
The Defender, which protects your phone like a tank, is also built like one and makes no attempt at being slim. It's absolutely enormous. That one isn't out yet, but unless you work on a construction site it's completely overkill.
At the moment, because companies like Seidio haven't gotten their cases out yet, the Commuter is probably the best option if you want a sorta-slim but still well-protecting case. The second layer is made of a less-than-premium-feeling hard plastic, but the inner silicon layer is nice and overall the case protects the phone quite well without adding too too much size and weight.
Whoops, I meant the Defender...I knew the Commuter was out.

Looks like the Kraken II by Trident is available in black now
http://www.tridenteer.com/products/Kraken-II-for-Samsung-Droid-Charge-%28Black%29.html
I think I'll wait for the red version
I know I look like an old man when I do, but I like having my phone on a belt clip. None of the (nice) cases I've been able to find have one. I'm dying to get an otterbox defender. Right now I have a Bodyglove with an Invisible shield on the screen. However, dust and whatnot in my pocket gets under the Bodyglove and has already scuffed my phone!
I had a Defender on my BB Bold and I loved it. Size is not a factor for me. Otter needs to hurry and launch the Defender.
The Defender Series Case is now available for purchase HERE.
Yup just got the email today. Its available. Also I emailed trident and the alternative colors of the kraken II case should be available later this week. Black is already available

Some of us don't have much choice. I work receiving and delivery at a retail home improvement store. Moving some of the heavy fridges in and out of customer's homes sometimes requires leaning it against myself for support. That could put enough pressure on my screen to crack it.
Yep, need me a really rugged case. Plus, I picked up the Defender for less than the price of the Commuter... all good.

I dunno. I just like the peace of mind that I can throw my phone and it will be perfectly fine. Plus most of my friends have Defenders for their iPhones (I feel dirty typing that) so huge phones are common enough that it doesn't look out of place.

Best HTC One s case for me?

I am looking for a case that protects the top and bottom (To stop chipping). The case also has to look good with the black HTC One s and not scratch the phone like some TPU cases do. I like the CaseMate soft case but sadly it has no mic hole Hope someone can help!
The only cases that protect the bottom and top afaik are the silicone/rubber/gel type of cases.
Regarding the no hole for the microphone for the case mate soft and tough, it really isn't that much of an issue IMO and can be easily solved anyway using either a drill bit, eye letter punch or some other form of a cutting tool
See my review of the tough case here:
http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1072819-case-mate-tough/
Below are the results of using a drill bit to make a tiny hole (acting as a "mark") and the eye letter punch to make a "proper" microphone hole

I actually think that this one looks kinda interesting:

It would be difficult to obtain a D3O case outside of US/Canada. ^
I am waiting on this one to come in (ordered 5-5-12) After a recent unfortunate incident involving my Nexus S and a marble countertop + a 6" fall I am taking no chances. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007U6EHXS/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00
I don't normally do anything except a screen protector but after watching my screen crack down the middle on my nexus s just a week ago I am not taking any chances with this beast of a phone. Just in casethe link doesn't work it is a ballistic case for HTC One S for about $17 from amazon.
You guys gotta wait for the otterbox case. Is not out yet but will be our soon
Sent from my One S.
I actually prefer the ballistic cases over the otterbox. Personally I don't like the complete coverage of the screen in the otterbox defender series and the commuter cases are almost exactly like the ballistic I ordered but the ballistic are generally cheaper and side by side they are just about the same save for some styling differences.

I am on my 3rd case since I got my phone a month ago.
The current one is by Diztronic (see the separate thread).
It is a TPU case so the top and bottom are protected, but it has a nice matt finish rather than the shiny effect of most gel cases. Would recommend!

[REVIEW] Otterbox Defender (ATT/Rogers)

Fits like a glove as it is meant for the ATT/Rogers version. All holes line up. The rubber is tougher and less shiny than the normal rubber otterbox uses (which i thought thank god) The only thing i dont like/not used to yet is how the phone mounts into the belt clip. You have to slowly "wedge it out" Here are some pictures. Any questions? The temperature after playing a game for 25 min is 43c (without case it was around 39c)

Whats your opinion on the power button? Is difficult to press?
Very easy. I notice i dont have to push as hard as my ebay rubber case i had before. Volume buttons are also easily pushed. The screen protector takes a bit away from the clarity. Still debating on popping it off or not.

I recommend just popping it out, especially if you already use a screen protector. It comes out rather easy and the adhesive strip can be pulled out in practically one piece. The only thing I would suggest is to use something like a small piece of duct tape to remove the left over residual adhesive from inside the frame.
Does anyone have the purple and teal otterbox? I really want one!
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
They have not been released anywhere yet. ATT nor Otterbox carry them yet. I was told within the next few weeks.
It depends on your area, because most ATT store here in Hawaii had both Commuter and Defender Cases, I originally went with the commuter case but felt it added too much thickness and took away the design of the phone, so bought Htcs slim case. The have improved a lot in terms of rubber material and fit, especially coming from the evo 3d case.

Not especially. It's a high quality, rugged case on par with Otterbox. $35 is far less expensive than the insurance deductible on the phone if it's broken (trust me, I know).
I just ordered mine not too long ago - I've been waiting on this case.
Use the discount code "QRSHIRT12" for 10% at checkout. Not a lot, but even $3.90 helps!
Or you can use ALL4LOVE FOR 20% OFF! Does anyone know if it includes a screen protector?

This case BETTER be good, as I think 36 bucks is a steep price compared to other rubberized cases that have been available for a long time for the N4.

I have friends who use them for their HTC phones and they're very solid.

That's a pretty standard price for a high quality brand name case.
It's a $36 investment to protect a ~$400 dollar device. I'm sure you have bigger things to worry about (like not paying $150 to LG for repairs).
I bet it will be awesome. I have been waiting for a ruggedized case for awhile now. This is going to look nice and be good for when I am camping, fishing or doing any of that other stuff.
Just ordered one as well! Was extremely excited to get an email from Ballistic notifying me that it was in stock. Like others have mentioned, there is a 20% off coupon that was with the email:

I have nothing but good experiences with them. I actually prefer them to OtterBox these days.
Any word on if this will work with an induction charger?
How do these compare to Seidio's Active cases? I'm wanting to replace my TPU S case once I get my nexus back, especially more coverage where my rear glass did break (around the camera lens).
Thanks OP, Ordered one!
Anyone know how to make the shipping to Australia cheaper? The cheapest I can see is almost $60
Needs more colors. Black and hot pink? Really?

From what I've read, thickness of the case is what prevents induction charging, and this being about the thickest case available right now for the n4, I can guarantee that induction charging will not work with it.
I had a ballistic hard core case for my HTC evo, an even thicker case than this one, and it was definitely more protective than the otterbox defender. Highest quality cases, if protection is your highest priority.

I ordered one, but I'm concerned about stickiness. I have an ionic armor one now and it always gets stuck in my pocket and attracts an awful lot of lint and dust. Anyone who's had one of these before, how bad is it?

This case doesn't really stick at all. The hard shell has a soft touch feel to it but it is minimal and dimpled like perforated leather so it is pretty smooth. You might catch on the silicone corners but they slick up pretty fast. These cases are large but as was said earlier, if protection is your desire they are the best. I've gotten this case for the nexus s and galaxy nexus and they are the only case that really protects the phone, doesn't peel screen protectors, or scratch anything inside. If you get a screen protector you will be all armored up. You could chuck your phone and not worry about damage. My wife's galaxy nexus did a full end over end cartwheel after a drop and landed a good 10 feet away. No damage on the phone or case at all. These are awesome. The only downside is that they are really bulky.
Sent from my often RMA'd Nexus 4, So that I can use the one I'm using now when I get the 6th and hopefully final one.
