You didn't type the second command correctly...there should be a space between "adb" and "/data/preload".
For the first command, run this instead (from your computer)
Code:
adb shell
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p32 of=/sdcard/boot.img
exit
adb pull /sdcard/boot.img
And then upload the boot.img that should be in your current folder on your computer
If still nothing, please PM me so we can set up a team viewer and I can try to pull those files and I can also try to root your phone (safe, nothing bad will happen if it fails)

If I can dump the boot.img then he can dev unlock and I'll pass him an insecure boot.img through which he can gain root.
Or if he gains root through another method, then we can still dump everything.
After that, life is good.
Anyway, still waiting for a response.

Hi,
I can confirm, what guywithdesire1992 said:
There is no permission to open the device.
When I do "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p32 of=/sdcard/boot.img", I get the following error:
/dev/block/mmcblk0p32: cannot open for read: Permission denied
Do you have any suggestions?

btw:
There is no "su" on the device.
I've tried to install static linked su from "SuperUser.apk" and also from "CWM-SuperSU" - without success.
I have stored the su executables to /data/local/tmp and gained executable-rights (chmod 777). After that I was able to execute it, but i does nothing.
No error, just nothing

PM me so we can set up teamviewer and try to get you rooted.

Have a look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872128
The first thing a noob (like me) needs to understand is directory path.
For example i have installed my ANDROID-SDK folder in the root of my computer, (also known as C drive) the "tools" folder is in the androidsdk folder and the "adb" is in the tools folder.
C:\androidsdk\tools\adb
If you move or rename a folder your commands must be the same.
C:\ANDROID-SDK\tools\adb help will not work on my computer because i dont have a folder named ANDROID-SDK I re-named it androidsdk so that is the command i must use C:\androidsdk\tools\adb help

Now you got me under your spell, lol.
I'm assuming that you're following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249798
If so, go back over it, step by step. If you are still having problems, and if noone else jumps in, I'll come back later and try to help. I'm in transit right now.
I know you can do this...just take your time.
you don't use a adb.exe from the windows GUI. Its used in the terminal (cmd). That's why it goes away really fast when you try to click on it.
If you cd to the place where adb is and type in adb.exe you will get that same text window, but it will stay up. You can then read it and see the different commands that are included in adb. Do your research first. Learn how to use adb from any of the HUNDREDS of tutorials here on xda or google

You want to "push" your zip ie "adb push /your/rom.zip /sdcard/" or maybe the last argument is /data/media - I flash from the external sdcard, so take this for what it's worth. Good luck.

Just hoping that you can get it working after the fact, is your USB debugging turn ON?

That's good you have a B50, it's NVFlash compatible.
Do what gee one posted and see if you can push the ROM file to internal.

[Q] Need help using ADB to push files to my MAXX HD

I have a stock factory ROM, ROOTED, MAXX HD. It's on the latest firmware pushed by VZW. After rooting, I had removed a bunch of apk's I knew I wouldn't need. The problem happened when I did a factory reset due to some minor GPS issues. I had forgotten that I removed the Setup.apk. (Yes I'm kicking myself regarding backups... but too late now).
Now my MAXX HD has no launcher. It states the Setup Wizard has stopped working. I have no access to files or applications. I can access the notification bar and the systems menu and such and can see the standard programs running under APPS. Wifi works, etc. I even signed into my gmail accounts, but I don't have access to any apps. Pressing the home button does nothing except bring up the error message again.
I've been trying to use ADB to push the missing files into the /system/app folder and that is described below. If anyone has any other ideas on what I can do, I'm all ears.
This part is for those that know a thing or two about ADB. I'm a noob at this so please correct away!
So, my ADB exploits... I've tried to push the setup files to /system/app via adb but have had no luck. I keep coming across access denied or this action is not allowed in production phone, etc.
The commands I've used are:
adb push setup.apk /system/app/setup.apk (This just gives the copy protected blah blah)
remount and root don't work.
in shell, when I type "su" the "$" does change to "#"
I've remounted the system as rw but pushing the file still gives me a not allowed value.
I'm just going to list the commands I've used now. If anyone has any suggestions or if I'm doing it wrong, please correct away. Thanks!
adb shell (this gives me a @Vanquish:/ $)
su (this changes the $ to a #)
mount | gret system (this gives me a long device-system name. it indicates it is now rw. it was originally ro)
mount -o rw, remount <device name from the previous command> /system
exit
exit (back to C:/adb)
adb push setup.apk /system/app/setup.apk (still says not allowed) (the root and remount commands still don't work)
I read that I need to type in "adb shell su push..." but I cannot get that command line to work at all.
Any help is extremely appreciated. Thanks!
Solved it myself
I guess I need to brush up on my ADB.
I got it to work by pushing the files to /sdcard/, then in shell, used # cp /sdcard/<file> /system/app/<file>
To all the ADB guys out there, how could I have done this in 1 step? I definitely don't have the syntax down.

Please you don't need to post several OP for your problem.
You have already opened an OP and I gave you an answer.
You do not need to open an another OP because your old one is no longer on the first page.
If someone can give you an answer, he will answer
And if I remember its' not:

sorry, but I am very worried about the phone, however only works in adb sideload, in other ways it appears "error: closed", in sideload tells me installation aborted when I go to install my "update.zip" that contains the build.prop I need to replace, maybe I created the wrong "update.zip"

Go to your recovery
Code:
adb shell
mount -o remount,rw /system
this mounts your /system partition to read and writable extract the build.prop from your update.zip and paste it in desktop
Code:
cd desktop
adb push build.prop /system/build.prop
This should push the build.prop from update.zip right back to system
