Karbonn A30: All Things Root Thread

Karbonn A30, the 5.9 inch phablet, that just recently attained the available tag at Saholic for which you have to cough up around INR 11k.
The device becomes much more interesting because of the 5.9" screen size which beats even Galaxy Note II by a good one cm!

The complete specs of this device are not out yet, and not disclosed by the shopping site itself. So, if you have got hold of one, I would love to get a reply from you. Let's sum up those which are confirmed as of now:
5.9 inch Capacitive Touchscreen
1 GHz dual core processor
8 MP rear camera with dual flash
1.3 MP front camera
2,5000 mAh battery
All basic connectivity options like 3G, bluetooth, wifi and GPS
One important thing that's missing from the confirmed specs sheet is the amount of RAM. While we can't expect 1 GB ram at this price point, anything below 512 MB would just kill the deal.
Rooting Method (Generic for all ICS phones):

The above rooting method should work flawlessly on A30, as it is working on all Karbonn android phones (in fact every Android phone) running on ICS or above.
Let's hope that the development on this phone gets a quick boost when someone confirms this rooting method. :victory:

Rooted.....installed SU , root explorer , ROM manager. But all I want to do is install apps on the external SD card ....Karbonn A18 allows it.....Any suggestions?

How did you root the phone? Which tool did you use?
Btw, you can use my swapping mod to swap your sdcards, that might solve your problem. Link to that is present in signature.

here is s gscript that lets u dump all the partitions.a ful rom backup.
i have a full dump.only the PRELOADER and DSP_bl is corrupted.
i cant get them to load in sp flash tools
see the attached gscript.for complete backup use the "back_mt6575_a4_v2c" script.
i have attacher the scatter file if some one needs it.my device is still in servicing.so i cant go foreward.
{credits for the "back_mt6575_a4_v2c" script to original developer.i fount it not mine.i dont knw whos it is.}

I m planning to buy this phone..can anyone confirm the ram of the karbonn a30..is the phone really of 512 ram..& is the gaming smooth on this phone..thanks

Hi Kalya,
I have tried rooting my Karbonn A30 with all the tools out there but it refuses to root.
I have even tried Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry v18 but no success
Please tell me in which mode from the following it should be connected when i connect usb.
1.) Storage mode
2.) Media Mode
3.) Camera mode
USB debugging is on.
I always get the errors like,cannot push SU,file not found,no permission, directory not found and all that stuff.
Please help.

have the same problem using a bakuptool v2e at my first try ... i just run again the script and its good... you just have to delete your first dumped files. and try again. good luck..

Since Karbonn A30 is a rebranded of VSUN i1 this should work with the phone.

First action: activate USB DEBUGGING mode.
a) Download and install SHUAME Software

initiate the process. Phone will restart several times
until finished
NOTICE: to un-root, just click the "root" button on
the right (with the $ instead of the #)

Karbonn has updated its karbonn A1+ Software So those who brought Karbonn A1+ with older version software can able to root their mobile with Z4root ( i am also rooted), But Latest Software version can't be rooted with z4root, So we need to find New Method for Rooting Karbonn A1+ with newer software version
You can check your software version by Setting-->about-->Software version
They are not updated its Android version they just fixed their bugs in older one

I connected my Karbonn a1+ to pc (win xp) and tried to install the driver as per the instruction. but the file inside the .zip folder has no extension so i can't setup the driver. can you please show me the way. i really need to install this driver for my phone

How to Flash/Upgrade :?
Download : Software Upgrade tool
Download : Drivers
A. Remove SIM card & TF card, also please backup files in handset.
B. Install USB driver.
C. Power on handset firstly, and then connect handset with PC, there
will show COM port of “Diagnostics 9025”(or “DIAG 9025”).
Start software download guide:
1. Click “QCOM_MultiDnload_ENU.exe” to open SW download tool.
2. Port Mode: select the COM port which shows in device manager.
3. Software Version: press Software Version button, select the SW
version you want to upgrade, and then click OK button.
4. When you click “OK” button, it will check MD5 value automatically,
when finish checking, it will prompt you to click “Start All” or “Start”
button to upgrade SW version.
5. “Open Device Manager”>> COM & LPT, to get the COM port number
on your PC, and select the concordant one on the home interface of
the tool.
6. After select Software Version, Port Mode and COM port number then
press “Start All” or “Start” button to download software.
7. Upgrade tool will connect handset firstly, then switch to download
mode.
8. And download ROM of handset.
9. Finish upgrading software.

In case after upgrading you find endless searching for service or no service then here is the MT500 MMX NVTool.
What is NV and what is NV Tool ??
NV file is non volatile memory
this file store the memory with out voltage support
when u disconnect the battery , and put it again the time of the cell changed , TIME need continuous voltages
but when u remove the battery set security code not changed .. mean it dont require voltages
in NV such memories are saved which dont require voltages like:
Security Code
Network Code
Profile Setting
Network Calibration
Incoming / Outgoing Call Records
Contacts
In Samsung this file called EEPROM (electronically erasable programmable read only memory)
In Nokia this file called PM (Permanent memory)
In LG its called NVM (non voltile memory)
Again the Guide to Change MMX NV is available with screenshot within the MT500 MMX NVTool.
Try Framaroot by xda member alephzain to root this phone.
1. Enable USB Debugging. Then Download FramaRoot.apk from the above mentioned thread.
2. Install, and open the app.
3. Select Install SuperSU from the drop down menu.
4.Click on Gandalf option.
It should now root the phone and install supersu app. Restart your phone and your phone should be rooted. If the Framaroot crash try it a couple of times it should root your device.
If the app works do not forget to appreciate the the developer of Framaroot.
And now as always : Use this at Your own Peril. I will not take any responsibility on whatever may happen with your Micromax Canvas Blaze.

Now your phone is OK or bricked. You mean this procedure is no good.

Follow the instruction given in the OP.. SP tools is for Mtk device this is a Qualcomm device...

Look carefully between the power button and volume have microscopic holes poked into it = > shutdown
In Recovery backup or restore is not to be the case , then it is being used FlashTool Download ( limited use Format / download )

This is the 1st time I've used CTR and so far like it..one thing I've missed with TWRP was batch install, but it's not something you use that frequently though..
Also tried MIUI - still got issues with memory..ColorOS is actually good, but still testing it out and aside from known issues, everything seems to be stable..

I'm using ColorOS..great eyecandy..stable..no issues with Storage and google sync..only downsides: proximity and light and compass and gravity sensors don't work, front cam is bad, videos also bad..

I managed to root it with root genius... frameroot on offical 1.4 won t work for me. another thing is when I root it on 1.4 with root genius it gives ghost touches.
Color os is great but useless without those sensors, looking forward to new release.
I am leaving in area with low signal, is it possible ti improve it, with modem/baseband file? Or some other solution?

There isnt any update for our phone..official ones are buggy, custom ones are better, and looks like we are going to be stuck a little bit..
Camera isnt as good as it looks on paper, and a few reported problems with touch issues..personally i've issues with low speaker volumes with media and notifications/alerts..
Seems not a great phone IMO..

Any of you guys can confirm if the three little capacitive dots (back, home, menu) at the bottom of the phone have backlight? Mine doesn't seem to be lighted..

Make sure that your Micromax Canvas Juice 2 AQ5001 has at least 80% battery.
1) Copy the downloaded Framaroot app to your Micromax Canvas Juice 2 AQ5001's external or internal memory(hardly matters).
2) Install it(make sure you have app installation from unknown sources enabled).
3) Launch it.
4) Select "Install Super Su".
5) Click on "Boromir"
6) Now reboot your Micromax Canvas Juice 2 AQ5001. All done !!

I tried framaroot the first time I tried, but it didn't work...
But then a week ago I rooted using kingroot.apk 4.0....

I have tried towelroot, framaroot, kingroot, iroot or vroot. Almost every other possible method to root phones but it didn't work.
Please suggest some other method to root micromax juice 2. Also, it would be awesome if someone develops a custom Color OS for juice 2.

brother just download kingroot 4.0 apk from google, that will root your juice 2, remember only 4.0 version can do that root

Bro I tried using kingroot 4.0.1 apk but it didn't work either. Did I work for you? Can you please provide me the apk you used to root user Micromax Juice 2?

first DISABLE all waste apps that come preinstalled with micromax like
1. DR. safety ( this must be disabled , as it not let kingroot work nicely)
2. app center
3.M.games
4. Mlive
5. Mad
and optional apps like , play books, movies and tv, newsstand, reverie phonebook,docs, sheets, slides,
this will not let your phone getting warm
second, have a wifi or good INTERNET Connection on your phone.
use this app link ->https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7ItAzNnUIloSy1Ob0xEMnAtNEE/view?usp=sharing
and then select root there
it will take time , but not restart your phone , if your phone restarts try again
and it also show warning in between , just proceed anyway
and after root remove a chinese app and kingroot , you will see king user there...

My Micromax Juice 2 is finally rooted.!! Thank you so much bro. With ally these apps I also disabled me anti virus (apps daily) and I tried to root again. It didn't restart this time and root was successful!!

dear that link in post is perfectly working or you can copy and paste that link in browser and first disbale thode apps then root and try one or more times, if phone restarts try again. it will not restart till 100 means your phone get rooted.

am just trying to get any custom recovery that work with our micromax canvas juice 2, just i want to know what is the size limit of recovery that we can use in our phone it may be less then 6mb , and if it is more then we can have philz touch or twrp recovery to work nicely in our phone , lets see what we can get
its great help if anybody of the developers and mates help us here for recovery of our devices, i tried mtk droid tool , but this device not detecting in that mtk droid tool , all other devices are working fine , but this is not detecting

Kinguser spies on you and cannot be replaced. The only way is to buy Super Sume app from playstore (and that may not work entirely)

Maybe by creating a CWM for Micromax Juice 2 would help replacing Kinguser with SUperSU? What say?

Hmm it is possible make an update zip file with super su named as the name of default root app you have and flash that using cwm will work 100%
