[App] Camera & Gallery App from S4 Google Edition - HTC One SV

Hi there.
A new camera mod/app from S4 Google Edition has leaked. You can install it like a normal app and you don't lose your Sense camera! I gave it a short try and it seems to work, but i had not enough time to test all (especially photosphere, but it should do). Also the Gallery is included.
If you wanna try, you can download here: http://goo.gl/02po9

This works on the Boost mobile variant but I couldn't pick the image quality so the pictures didn't come out good.

I did not change the img quality (its on 5 mp) and for me it works. All pics are fine and i can watch them on gallery.

I have just tried it on my stock K2_UL running 4.1.2. It installs just fine, the gallery app works, the camera starts, but it doesn't seem to be able to focus properly, even in perfect lighting conditions.

Working GREAT on my Boost SV. Thanks bro.

Nice that it work for you bro, you got a pm.

The gallery is awesome but the camera app could have been better..

I use always sense 5 camera.
I think the most interesting feature of this camera here is photosphere.

Change photo/video storage location?
I installed this on my hTC One SV on Boost mobile. The camera stores videos/pictures on the internal phone storage partition. Is there any way to modify this app so it stores the photos/videos on the external SD card? I've tried going into Settings->Storage & changing camera storage location there. This camera does not seem to be affected by that setting.
Thank you for your help...

As it seems that S4 Google Edition has no external sdcard i don't think that there is an option for that.

This camera works better than the stock/Sense5 one. Stock camera often takes blurry photos.

...but it causes random freezes, like i explained in another thread:
I believe that my problems lie in S4 Camera app and not in internal memory switch or dropbox... That saddens me, because S4 Camera app produced much better pics than the stock Sense camera
I dont know why and how those freezes happen, but it happens after taking the picture, when screen turns off. When phone freezes, picture (file) gets corrupted and unreadable.
I also remember one time happening when gallery (S4) remained opened and phone screen turned off.
While i had dropbox auto-sync enabled it happened more often, but turning it off didnt make the problem to go away, rather it made it happen slightly more rarely.

If anyone has a solution, or advice on the matter (that does not involve removing the app ) i would appreciate it.

Good Camera app?

Dear all members,
I notice that default camera app cannot have timestamp with date when you take photo.
I have also tried out Vignette and find it better than the stock camera app as it has the auto flash function.
Anyone know whether these is better camera apps?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I've tried most of the other camera apps and ended up buying Vignette. It is one of the few that takes full 8mp photos, the focusing works correctly, and it saves the images to the SDcard\DCIM folder.
Camera360 was okay, but I found the photos weren't up to par detail-wise, and I didn't like the interface so much.
I still use the SE Camera app for video.

Thanks for your feedback, I am using vignette full version but it does not have the time stamp for photos. I do like the touch to take photos.

I have Vignette as well but i feel that it doesnt take the photo as fast as the stock camera. I end up just missing the moment i wanted to capture. Anyone else experience this? That being said i find i use the stock camera more often than not.

I want a camera app where i can control ISO speed
You and others are asking too much out of a phone. Go get a digital camera, better convenience.

What he said
I wonder if it's possible to read the ISO, shutter etc from the camera. I'm guessing the API abstracts and hides these settings; or perhaps Sony restrict them from being set.
Obviously the aperture is fixed (f2.8) for this type of camera lens.
I've noticed that the ISO is often increased to ISO1000 when it doesn't seem to be necessary. And at other times, the camera selects a very slow shutter speed (1/8sec) when it should increase the ISO, to prevent blurring.

Vingette doesnt allow zoom in 8mp which completely ruined the program for me.... it focuses on one point rather than zoom the full image. is this a known issue with the ap or is it just me?

When you actually take the photo it should look the same as default camera. That's sort of how digital zoom works. I'm failing to be able to describe it properly though

Flashing JB Camera app

I am on Stock ICS but my camera app is very slow and autofocus is also not working properly. Also, the gallery app is very slow and really takes time to zoom the pictures (Picture viewing app like QuickPic works really fast).
I just want to know that if I flash JB(4.2) Camera app, will it work better. I want to know that whether it will replace the default Camera app or will work as a separate application ? If it doesn't work properly how can I remove it?
Link for JB 4.2 Camera and Gallery app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1965895
Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah it will work fine, youve to be rooted though.
It will work like a separate application and you can remove the app by removing the apk files and lib files /system/app and system/lib resp. We'll get into details if you don't feel like having it, first see if u like it.
Edit: BTW, the photosphere mode won't work for our phone since our phone doesn't have a gyroscope.
If auto focus and stock gallery are a problem, there's always the RazrM camera app in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32286710
It has multi shot and shutter tone toggle which the 4.2 is currently missing. Also you can link the gallery from the camera as quickpic and autofocus is as good as any moto camera app.

When you click on the gallery icon on top right of the camera screen.. it'll ask you to select a default application to open photos.

Can you tell me any widget to directly toggle between 2G to 3G? Its built in CM and some samsung phones. I didn't wanted to start a separate thread so asked the question here.

Theres no widget to directly toggle 2g/3g, the max you can do is get to the Mobile Network Settings page and select the desired network
i use 2G-3G On Off widget by curvefish from play store.. gets the work done..
are you able to select 2g or 3g network from Settings/Mobile Networks/Select Network ? if not then heres a mod to change that

Yea its definitely fun to play around with. Dont get me wrong, when the bugs are ironed out this is going to be far superior than the stock camera ui. Im going to make the switch for sure, but as it is right now I thought Id let peeps know that you may not get the video you think your recording when using this.
not working for me! app starts, all options are there, but no picture - no back nor front camera view. help? original post?

try clearing the apps data
:what:
Works for me in pacman alpha cm10.2-android 4.3. Had to clear data first now works perfectly.
It wasn't this apk. Just came in the rom.

Extremely Buggy
Will be my favorite camera app when it works. All kinds of problems. Sometimes clearing the data works, but the next time I want to use it, I have to clear the data again. But even so, it may or may not work... If you open the picsphere deal, then close it, and try to open it again, it won't open. The settings allow you to change them, but they don't change the image at all (unless the data clearing works...). It also should allow us to save to SD card. I use the version(s) deployed with CM Nightlies. I wish they would give this some love... They may be working on it, however, the change logs don't reflect any updates... Please make this app stable!
Using CM10.2 Nightlies on Sprint Galaxy S 4...
This app is now available in the google play store in beta form. I have to say it's pretty good, not quite ready for prime time but definitely puts the stock camera app to same in many places.

Only issue on my end is that the pictures are warped. Both cameras seem like they have a fish-eye effect.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Great beta app! This will be great when completed! I just downloaded the beta from the play store (since it's not included in CM any longer) and it's still super buggy... So, is there any recommended course of action to clear any data that may cause issues for users? I read somewhere to simply clear the data via app settings and reboot, but it didn't help with my in-app settings issue. Basically, I can change the exposure setting, yet the image does not change at all. I also attempt to change the white balance, yet the change never applies to the image. Every once in awhile, the app will mysteriously work, until I close out of that particular instance. Then it reverts to the preformentioned state...
I've been hesitant to make this my default camera because I kept having issues with it and photo sphere is broken. ;/
^ don't dig up old threads. Focal is on the Play Store.

[Q] bad photo results with google camera app?

Hi
I tried to take a photo for a white wall with flash in dark room.
What made me feel bad with google camera app is there are two area divided on the photo shown in the attachment
Meanwhile, the stock camera app was just fine as normal.
I'm using opo 64g with blisspop 1.4, any idea?
Thanks
I've never liked the Google Camera anyway, the stock one is as good as can be for normal users anyway.

Bro, you should never attach you're emotional well being to a camera app. You can never give a truly objective GPlay Store review if you do this. I would think that by hanging your emotions on a camera app would just be a determinant to your health in general.
It's a known issue when you make photos with flashlight with the Google Camera.
You can turn off the flashlight...
After many camera app testings, Camera FV5 rocks. Of course full version.
Even had problems with stock camera, got pixelated lines when i recorded video.
In FV5 no problems.
Good luck.

Camera color correction settings

Hello,
Today i purchased a Google Pixel 2 XL 64GB model. I was a proud owner of the Google Pixel XL.
There is one thing bugging me on the 2 XL. Whenever i take photos using the stock camera app with the front facing camera the lighting corrects in such a weird way so photos look really weird.
This also happens with other apps like Snapchat and Instagram.
Does anyone know if i can turn off color correction for just the camera or something?
Thanks in advance!
Please upload an example of your issue.

Please see the YouTube link below - I believe they address the issue of pics taken vs. pics viewed via phone display vs. pics viewed via Instagram/Snapchat. This critique is towards the end of video

Color correction
The video didnt come close to the actual problem im having.
For example when i try to make a selfie using snapchat or instagram, before i take the picture my face has pale natural color which is perfect. when i took the picture and look it up in my Photo gallery it just looks awful.
My skin color turned greyish. This has nothing to do with the lighting in the area im in. Ive tried many different areas when taking pictures and they all result in the same weird greyish color
Pics or it didn't happen...
There is some known issue's with Pixel 2 and will be fixed by releasing patch and this would be a permanent solution.
Take a picture with hdr+ off and see if there any difference.
Here are some examples
This one is a picture before it has actually been taken, so its a preview

This is the actual saved picture
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1G2KVE_I0oeCKC9lp4hNHzo6YfhhWlshing
As you can see it has some difference and the saved picture just looks worse.

Did you reboot? This is, I think, the way it works.
The Visual Core you enabled doesn't work for the viewfinder preview in non-stock-camera apps, and I'm not sure it ever will.
Either turn hdr off in these apps if you prefer the blown-out look, or use the stock app and add to instagram app

I honestly don't see the issue in your samples. The only thing I noticed is that you're using snap chat which takes terrible low resolution photos. That night be one reason why the image looks so bad.
its a problem of snapchat, try taking pic in instagram with pixel core on , instagram, facebook, twitter take awesome photos but snapchat its a trash
