First you will need:
- Whatsapp you want to install in tablet.....First have it full running updated in your android mobile.
- Install apk Backup & restore in your mobile and your tablet.
- You must be root in android phone and tablet.
- Install root explorer in android mobile and in tablet.
- Install appguard in tablet.
- Install Go contacts ex in mobile and in tablet.
After all above is done:
Make Backup your app whatsapp from mobile and save in you SDcard tablet.
Make restore with same app in your tablet. (DONT OPEN APP Whatsapp yet).
Open appguard and secure your new app whatsapp installed........It will uninstall and install again. uncheck the option checking your phone status, inside "manage your secured app" (DONT OPEN APP whatsapp yet).
Now go root explorer in android mobile:
Copy the next files any place on your SDcard:
Data/data/com.whatsapp (full folder, with other folders inside).
(remember original permisions )
Data/data/com.android.vending/cache/thmb_com.whatsapp
(remember original permisions rw-------)
Data/dalvik-cache/ [email protected]@[email protected]
(remember original permisions rw-r—r--)
Now go root explorer in tablet SGP311:
Copy the above files on right same place and be sure give all same exactly permisions to all folders….files than original.
Replace any thing it will be asked to overwrite.
After all ready, be double sure all permisions equal than original of android phone.
Make reboot tablet.
Now open whatsapp app you already modified with appguard. (Very important be sure in appguard you unchecked the option checking phone network….) before start whatsapp. “In option manage your secure app installed”.
Now you will run whatsapp……..after running delete whatsapp from your phone android.
Some times it will crash unexpectelly, but mainly is working receiving and sending files, sms….....
Any doubts ask and I will try to solve.
Regards.

[Q] Howto remove twitter, facebook and other bloatware

Hello,
I flashed to leedroid 1.3 and i use Titanium backup to remove it like they wrote on the Forum, but it doesn't remove them.
It gets rebooted and then hangs with black screen and android warning picture.
I need to remove the battery to restart the phone.
Any other ideas to remove twitter/facebook/Peep and other social media apps.
THNX for your knowledge input.
you can also manualy remove the apps by deleting them (or renaming their extention e.g. .apk -> apkx) with a root explorer, for example 'root explorer' or 'ES File Explorer' in the /system/app folder.
I can remove it, but it returns after reboot + on "pm uninstall com.twitter.android" I get "Failed"
You need to root your phone first. Visit the forum section dedicated to your phone, read a bit, read a bit more, root it, then wipe that bloatware off.
@Captkiwi just download z4root it works with 99% of phones-use it and buy rootexplorer, open it, go to system/app, click mount r/w and delete bloatware Good luck
Making phone to be S-OFF is crucial. This thread helped me S-OFFing it properly (made bootable USB with unetbootin), and now this procedure works... Previously it didn't while the phone was still S-ON.
Hope this helps people, been struggling with my phone for a month now... Finally it seems I control my hardware
Make sure USB Debugging is on
Install z4root by downloading the apk and allowing non-market apps. Find it on sd card and install with longpress or something.
After you root, install titanium backup free version.
You can use this to backup and then uninstall all the bloat you want.
Sent from my M860 using XDA App
Ok - looks like there are 2 main options
1) Install Titanium backup and delete bloatware from there (Rooted Phone)
..........This option doesn't appear to work all the time - is it because the bloatware doesn't show up or because its listed with and unusual name like---- SNS 1.0 -- that twitter hides behind?
2) Use "a" file explorer on a rooted phone and go to---- system/app ---and find the apps and delete them ....nope still cant find the bloatware....
.........try another folder ..... /data/app/ ....still nothing
Anyone got any more ideas?
I'm working on an ideos X5

Weird error

i have a samsung galaxy s (gingerbread 2.3.3) and after doing some tweaking there was a problem with the google search widget. when i open it up it says: the application google search process com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox has stopped. i did manage to find a temporary fix for this by reinstalling the stock apk i found from a website. however every time i reboot the device the message appears again and then i have to reinstall it again to make it work. This is very annoying how can i fix this? is it some kind of autostart issue?Any help would be appreciated

Try making it a system app. Right now its probably installed as an update to the system app, but its better if it remains by itself. This can be done in many ways. You could use Titanium Backup, or simply place the app in /system/app/ (and set the permissions).
dont work

i tryed to copy and paste it using es file explorer but it said that it failed. Any ways even if i do get past that how do i set the permissions ?
Or maybe delete the whole apk with titanium backup or a root explorer, reboot and install it again.
Happened to me with apex launcher and this solved the problem

Titanium Backup - Select the app in the list and choose "integrate update into ROM".
Manual Way - Use Root Explorer, etc. to copy and paste the file in /system/app/. Make sure you mount it as R/W first. Using Root Explorer, long press the file and choose permissions. It should be set to "rw-r--r--".
Reboot after either of these methods.
thx

Installing WhatsApp on Tablet Plus (WIFI only)

Hi, people!
I saw this post by cedricl on the Tablet S forum and worked for me. Maybe anyone of you must be trying to do the same, so I've decided to share this solution for you
How to install Phone-only apps (Like WhatsApp or Viber) on a WIFI-only Tablet?
- root your phone
- install whatsapp on your phone
- install TitaniumBackup on your phone
- with TitaniumBackup make a backup of whatsapp
- open file manager on your phone and look for TitaniumBackup folder
- take the 3 files with the whatsapp name in them and move these to your tablet s
- root your tablet
- install TitaniumBackup on your tablet
- open TitaniumBackup on your tablet
- in file manager go to TitaniumBackup folder
- move the 3 whatsapp files taken from the phone and place them in the TB folder
- open TitaniumBackup and "restore" your whatsapp*
*OBS.: First you must restore the app only, so it'll be installed on the system. Then you must restore the DATA. The data is the most important thing, because it'll reconfigure your WhatsApp the same way that it is on the phone. If you restore everything together, it'll not work.
Credits: cedricl
Easier steps(the phone must be rooted):
-install whatsapp on phone.
-go to /data/app and copy the apk with whatsapp icon and transfer it to the tab.
- Install it.

Whatsapp uses a telephone number as userid/login credentials. Unfortunate. You will need to create an account using a phone first for it to work.
Hello, I have an HTC Flyer and what works for me when it comes to installing 'non-tablet' apps like whatsapp I simply search the apk of the application using Google and just run the apk file. Hope this helps

by installing the apk on the tab, will that log me out of whatsapp on my phone? or can I use both simultaneously, ie - use whatsapp while on the bus on my way home from work, then get home and use my tab to continue the conversation?

It will log you out, it tells you that one phone number can be used only in one app. I had to use my work phones number on tablet. If there is another workaround, I would like to know it too.

you should make an backup of WhatsApp on your Android Smartphone. It'll generate 3 files on your phone's sdcard. Get'em and copy to your tablet's sdcard. Then do these steps.
Everything is explained on my first post.
PS.: Some are saying that it'll stop it from working on the other device. Maybe you are right. But when I made this post I could use freely in both device's at the same time. The only issue was that when I was chatting over the tablet, for example, the phone wasn't receiving any messages.

[Guide] Backup Apps & Their Data for Rooted & Non-Rooted Devices

[Guide]
Backup Apps & Their Data for Rooted & Non-Rooted Devices
Purpose: Let's say that you made a high score in subway surfers and you don't want to lose it, then you'll need these two apps to backup the game data.
Helium (Without Root Method):
Helium is an application by Koushik Dutta, who has also developed CWM Recovery.
Important Note:
Motorola devices are not supported due to a bug on Motorola’s part.
Requirements:
1. Rooted or unrooted device with android 4.0 or higher.
2. Computer and USB cable.
3. Helium on your android with Helium desktop app on your computer.
4. If you're using Windows, you've to install ADB drivers, but if you’re using Linux or MAC OS X don’t worry about this issue.
Helium - App Sync and Backup (Play Store link)
ADB Drivers and Helium desktop app
Instructions:
1. Run Helium desktop app and Helium on your device, then connect via USB cable. Wait just a few seconds, and Helium will be enabled. You can now disconnect your device.
Note :If you reboot your device you'll have to reconnect it to re-enable the app.
2. Now to backup, you must select the desired apps and games then click backup. You can select one by one or swipe up the bottom tab to select all. You can backup the app data only to make the backup less size but you must to redownload when restoring or you can back up data with apk (this is pretty helpful but with more size).
3. You can restore on your current device or on a new device using the same sdcard. I think you can also copy /sdcard/Carbon folder from the current sdcard to the new sdcard to restore.
- You can make schedule backups
- If you run to the premium version, you’ll be able to backup and restore from cloud storage.
Titanium Backup (Root Method) :
If you've a rooted device, you can benefit from Titanium Backup automation and flexibility without caring to android version. This app is more featured and works without connecting to computer.
Requirements:
1. Rooted device.
2. Titanium Backup on your android.
Titanium Backup ★ root (Play Store Link)
Instructions:
1. Start Titanium Backup and grant root permissions.
2. You'll see 3 tabs. Enter backup/restore page. You can now see a list of system, uninstalled and user apps which can be filtered.
3. Here you can manually select which apps to backup and restore.
4. Let’s say you want to run a full backup. Select the button on the top right of the screen (batch button) and you'll see many actions. Run “Backup all user apps” action. You can select what do you want to backup or select all. After figuring, tap the green checkmark.
5. For making a full restore, you can enter the batch actions and run “Restore all apps with data" action. The free version will make you press a yes dialog box for each app you want to restore, but the premium version does it all behind the scenes.
Important Notes:
1. Restoring system data can cause serious problems.
2. Restoring system data from one device to another will definitely cause problems.
- You can make schedule backups
- If you run to the premium version, you’ll be able to backup and restore from cloud storage.

OK, you're right, but it requires root. Non-rooted devices need Helium to backup app's data.

I had the same problem. It was related to having the Use as Media Device setting checked in the options. Once I unselected it the DLL files downloaded and installed. I don't know why but give it a try and see if that helps.

Very good alternative to Titanium, I usually use Titanium along with a Dropbox account, but this can more, great stuff.
Helium and MDM
While Helium was a fabulous tool for backing up from one tablet and restoring to another, I've encountered an odd problem. The original tablet was rooted, but I used Helium in non-rooted status. Then I restored to a non-rooted tablet. Thereafter, I installed AirWatch MDM only to be told by AW that the new tablet is rooted. I've confirmed through various means that the new tablet is not rooted. However, I suspect Helium does something that trips a flag. Does anyone have any idea on how to clear the flag so that my unrooted tablet will look unrooted to AW?

Are there any apps that allow you to backup to your desktop? I want to be able to individual backups of the apps I currently have installed, delete the ones I don't use(I need the free space), with the much faster option of just sideloading them instead of having to redownload them from the play store. I don't have enough space on my tablet or phone to make Titanium or Helium backups. Thanks for any recommendations and help.
Edit: NVM found one
Insufficient permissions
When I tried running the shell script on Linux Mint 16 64-bit Petra, it just said
Code:
error: insufficient permissions for device
First I had a problem that the script required changing permissions of the script and adb, but that was not a big of an issue. This however, I don't know what to do with this. USB-debugging was enabled and device was connected.
Edit:
I got this working. I configured the USB-access in udev as per instructions of source(dot)android(dot)com/source/initializing.html#configuring-usb-access. Then I modified it's permissions to read-and-write
Code:
sudo chmod a+r /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules
and then I also restarted udev by
Code:
sudo service udev restart
That did the trick and I managed to connect the device.
Problem on Windows 8.1 64 bit
Hi Guys, I've just upgraded my OS to Windows 8.1 64 bit, and each time I tried to connect my phone the OS haven't recognized the device. I looked at the device manager and I discovered a generic Android driver provided by Helium.
So I unistalled Helium, restored the USB drivers by Samsung Kies, and now the OS recognized my phone again.
WHy?
Thank you!
Antonio
Thanks for being here, forums, when I need to do something simple and just have a senior moment
Very often, I reset my data on the S3 for try new ROMs, and, every time, I have to re-download all the applications...
Can I backup last version of Helium APP (APK?), so I can install it after the first boot and restore applications?

WhatsApp backup restoration without google account?

WhatsApp downloaed today 2.18.358
old device:
Running local backup - works well - all 113 MB file is properly created with the name msgstore.db.crypt12
new phone same WhatsApp .apk
Then copying this to a new phone putting on folder WhatsApp/databases - all good
installing whatsapp - all fine
runing WhatsApp on a new device:
- License agreement screen (ok),
-two more pop-ups with permission access to contacts/storage/etc. All permissions were granted.
number verification (same number) (ok - entering the code) then asking if it should get permission to access google drive.
- skipping it - moves to app without attempt to restore local backup
- giving permission moves to pop-up of creation the google drive account, so I can select only "none" and in the end also application is also starting without attempt to restore local backup
Any ideas, Dear Friends?

list to do: install (if you do not have it) Titanium Backup on the OLD phone. In Preferences, set Backup app external data as Enabled (Always).
Check where the backup folder is created on the phone. Typically, it would be TitaniumBackup in root folder of the card.
Copy the folder to new phone.
Install TB on the new phone
Run it, scroll down, or input in the search: Whats (shall find it now), then click Restore.
Check if it works now, if not (e.g. android different version on old and new phone) - reinstall (do not uninstall from settings, go to GooglePlay and reinstall from there).

That could be a great idea.
Here is what worked for me:
1. (creating) and connecting google account to old phone
2. backing up all WhatsApp to Google account as defult option by app
(message after upload of 100% of 1GB : FAILED)
3. connecting same google account to new phone
4. trying to download backup
reported: NOT FOUND
so I found this could be a problem with backup file itself upon it was being generated.
What helped for that:
Going to classic memory (no root folders) and removing ALL folders of WhatsApp (this from SD_card - images, videos, etc).
And then doing backup again.
This time it worked.
Maybe not as intended (without google participation) but at least the case is solved and reason probably found (some old file preventing backup to be recognized as proper backup - even when done with good size of 100MB+ each time).
Next time will try with Titanium Backup
