app request - Other Tools & General Discussion

(if this doesn't belong here please move it to the proper location)
Hi,
I'm somewhat surprised this doesn't exist yet (or does it?). An app that pronounces the title (and maybe the artist) of a track (maybe by text-to-speak reading the ID3 tag). It's quite annoying (to me, at least) when I listen to an album, I never know what song was playing without a glimpse at my mobile. Can someone develop that, or does it exist yet (and weren't my Google-skills up to par?).

Looks interesting.
However, the person would have to develop a completely new player. Ok, he could also mod open source apps like Apollo.

yeah, but that's why I mentioned the text-to-speach-thingie, you won't be needing a new player for that, will you? Just that all tracks have ID3, right?

You need to recognize when a new song starts and which one it is. Therefore you need your own player.

There is no need for cracking. You just need to use an open source player like the great Apollo.

I am sorry, but I am a busy at the moment.
I am developing apps which I really need.
What you could do is sending a mail to the main developers of Cyanogenmod and suggesting this feature.

Are there any mp3 player apps?...

... that have a button to skip forward/backward 5-10 seconds with a single button press?
Google's Listen app does this, but unfortunately cannot play mp3s downloaded outside of the app.
TouchMusic can kind of do this, but... it's just a horrible app...
Anyone know of an app that does this?
Doesn't the default app do this? if you hold down the buttons instead of pressing quickly.

Holding is not a button press. I specifically said button press for a reason
Also, I'm on the Desire ROM which doesn't have the holding functionality anyway.

Ok seriously people. This is EXACTLY what I was talking about just a few days ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6003685#post6003685
I am asking for a very simple and specific request. Please stop telling me to do other things which are obviously not what I asked in the original post. Jesus F'ing Christ!!
GAH!!!
Using the bar to move backward 10 seconds in a 90 minute file is frustrating and almost impossible, especially when driving, running, or any other time when I don't want to fiddle around with trying to move the bar one tenth of a millimeter.
Does anyone have any input on the actual question that I asked?
sorry no.. if you find one let me know please.. i am looking also.. the built in app is crap.
no equilizer..
no effects...
no add to playlist other than one song at a time.. etc. etc.
the music player in my older i8910 is much better.

I suggest you file a enhancement request here http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/list .
You shouldn't expect everyone to analyze your every word.

No, but I have some input on life: Stop being a sperglord about volunteers offering alternative suggestions that work on the actual issue and not the very specific implementation you requested. If you don't like it, you can stop posting.

I don't like your attitude or your swearing when people try to help you.
People understood clearly, and are offering alternative ways, unless they knew that such a thing existed. Don't like it, stop posting.

Sounds like you are looking for a mp3 player that might cater more toward audio books/ podcasts.
I needed something similar recently, I think AudioBook Player or MortPlayer Audio Books might do the trick. If those don't work, check other apps that handle audio books in mp3 format.
It's 2010, why are you still running around with a single 90 minute mp3?

Perhaps muncheese has never heard of a podcast?
I try not to spend hours at time listening to other people's opinions.
I've never "understood" the appeal of podcasts, so I wasn't aware they don't even have the decency to organize them neatly for listeners.

[REQ] .apk Manager.

I'm looking for a .apk Manager.
Not for one on my phone, or to organize the apps on my phone.
What I'm looking for is a Windows application, Win7 64bit compatible, that will organize my 4.7gb worth of .apk's i have on my computer. Ideally, automatically detecting version numbers, and removing old versions of the same app etc.
Good idea, I just use appbrain on my phone.
ps: change the title to [REQ] as there is no app in here.
Sounds like someone had fun downloading a lot of apps?

Ahh yes, i should have had it [REQ] vs [APP], you are right. I cannot find a way to change the thread title tho, or i would happily.

<smirk> links are not allowed on here for that sort of thing, but sufficed to say, i use two websites to <cough> obtain <cough> my apps.
Of that 4.7gb of .apk's I'm sure at least 30-40% of that (hell quite possibly more) is outdated versions. Just too much hassle to manually sort through them all.

Hello again everyone,
Always come here when all searching fails! So thanks!

Thanks again all!!

I use Zune on my PC religiously and if I could use my phone as a remote it would be awesome!
+1 Surely one of the devs on here could come up with this!
Any news out there devs???
I think theres a lot of people who want this!!
thanks
yup Zune desktop is awesome, I now use it religiously for music and videos.
Remote Control on the Marketplace does it and even shows the album art in the background. It also controls VLC, WMP, WMPC, Sound Mixer, and PowerDVD.
Theres an app called remotely possible. You can control most media programs. It costs $5. Its not as responsive as youd like but it does work

Which one are you talking about I cannot find it. The ones I've seen none of them look as slick as the iTunes one....
Hopefully someone out there is making it
Ah, one would think that MS integrates across platforms. They don't and this is a major cause of frustration by users. Save yourself the aggrevation and only think of MS as providing stove-piped solutions. This will make your life better. Of course I haven't been able to do this and I get frustrated at least once a day because of it. I'm guessing that I'm too far down the caring path and it's going to take a major effort to get over this affliction.

its called remote control and the icon is a broken up antenna in white on a black background. Dev. name is Jerome laban I believe. It works great and looks fine. I don't give a crap what it looks like. It works awesome for all the programs it controls and is easy to setup. That's what matters.

Windows Phone 7 Style Music Player

[via Engadget]
This music player looks GREAT on the transformer:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/20/windows-phone-7-style-music-player-for-android-arrives-from-the/
nice...looks really nice on a tablet...hope the albumart will be a little bigger, but really nice...
It's brilliant! Amazing on my Galaxy S as well!
Even though it's not even Beta, It's one of the best 3rd party Music apps there is on Android.
It looks and works nice but I don't really like how small it is on the big honeycomb screen. Plus Plus some reason my album arts are not going in full screen for me. I definitely would wanna try it on my phone though.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
cannot view its control(Start,Pause...etc) on Wildfire
what's the actual name of this music app......the link on engadget goes nowhere.
found it, FEDE MUSIC is the name of the .apk you download.....nice of Engadget to actually give the name of the app, sloppy journalism, as usual.
thanks for posting that...interesting app.
Once Albumart and controls get proper fitting, this will be a spanking app!
Thanks.

I was not able to locate this app?
The reason engadget didnt mention the name, is because the developer who made it, hadn't named it yet.

Sorry, bad form on my part. I should have included a link that refers to the app in the original post... I was lazy - BUT it seems the developer has removed his tweet with the download link.
Because of this, I hesitate uploading anything as it is against forum rules to post files without permission.
Sorry, bro. Do some searching, you may be able to find it.

Music Title Pop-Up App?

I've been looking for a while, and I was wondering if there are any good clean apps that have a pop up display of the song playing while not in the music player app? The ones I've found so far is Tune Pop and Music Popup. They do what I want, but not quite as clean. Does anyone know of any other apps similar to that? Or is there an app developer here who would want to create one? Thanks for any help in advance!
Oh yea, another thing to add. I would like something that isn't so intrusive. Something like a simple toast pop-up would be fine. Thanks!
I will make it if i find some time. If someone else want to do it there is some tip.
"To get a track specific information, you could invoke the MediaMetadataRetriever to provide the relevant information. One example to get all the file specific information can be found in MediaMetadataTest.java. "
