[Q] will MHL adapter for S3/Note 2 work with Note 8.0 - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Accessories

I checked the USB port and found it's exactly same as my Note 2, so I suspect MHL 11 pin adapter will work with Note 8.0.
Has anybody tried yet?

My S3 adaptor works. I tried it out the other day. I assume that is the same adaptor for the Note 2.

Queries on connecting to a Projector
I too had a similar question, well now at least I know which adaptor to buy!
I am planning to buy the N5100 as soon as it is available(a couple of weeks in India).
I need to hook it up to a Projector so that it can mirror the Screen. Now a few questions:
The Projector only has VGA or RCA inputs. Would an HDMI to VGA converter have any problems with this setup? Would buy from eBay
The Projector has a native resolution of 800x600(SVGA). Which resolution does the Note 8.0 output at? Is it adjustable?(because I don't need 1080p)
Is the output stream from the Tablet exactly the same as that on the Tablet screen itself, or are some elements left out? If yes, which ones?

I bought a cheap one for 10 dollars and it worked pretty well.
Try rebooting the note after plugging it in, some people have had such problem.

Is this an original adaptor from Samsung Or a Chinese compatible one?
MHL devices are compatible with all HDMI Inputs,The special compatible TV's can also power the adaptor eliminating the travel charger.
Try other HDMI inputs, if possible, other adapters or on other devices like some friend's s3

Its original Samsung for galaxy S3.
May be I will get it checked with samsung service center.

Make sure you use the note8 power supply to drive the hdmi adapter, my samsung mhl doesn't work with note8 when I use a lower power supply.

Thanks. Maybe that's why my MHL adapter didn't work the other day when I was using my other charger.

Won't work
I'm on my second HDMI adapter and I still cannot get my Note 8 working.
Am I supposed to change a device setting ot something.
Attached are the items I purchased.
Any ideas?

In an earlier post it was mentioned you must use the power supply from the 8.0. Are you doing that?
I just tested the one for my s3 and it works fine on my 8.0

No luck for me either and yes I am using the power supply that came with the note. The same adapter works with my S4. It uses an adapter to make it 11 pin. Between the very weak infrared remote and now this not sure I will be keeping this thing

Yes, I actually tried 3 different chargers, that's why I thought there must be a setting. I wonder if the type of HDMI cable is important ?

I didn't do anything special just plugged it in. Have you tried different TVs or different ports? Also do you get any reaction at all from the tv?
I bought mine from mono price for about 10 or 15 bucks.

Dang!
Why? Just tried my HML-adapter bought and working with the Samsung Note N7000 phone (the first Note phablet) but I can't get to work with the Samsung Note8 N5110 tablet.
The Note8 is signaling that it "got it in" and charging the battery but no picture on the TV.
The Note N7000 on the other hand, automatically sending the picture to the same TV, that Note8 fails.
Is there something that has to be changed in the settings on the Note8?
Edit:
Seems like XDA member davp already had the answer for my question.
The SonyEricsson X10 Mini power adapter gave 0,5mAh while the Note 8s gives 2mAh ...Trying the Note8 adapter now.

how to connect the GT 7 plus to TV?

I've made a small exercise to see if there an accessory to connect the GT 7 plus tab to TV
I found on Samsung official website at GT 7 plus section accessories a mixed accessories for GT 10.1 and 7 plus and there is a 30 pin to hdmi cable, which in description says its for the 10.1 !! here http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab-accessories/EPL-3PHPBEGSTA
even it is pricy but it is a solution if works
there is a thread opened in amazon about that issue and no sharp answer for connecting to TV
some said the dock doesn't have hdmi some said there is a dock that has and some said there is micro hdmi port in the dock
so anyone did hook the tab to a tv? and what is the easiest way?
also I've ordered this cable http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005YWIRBS/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details

The samsung hdmi adapter works fine with the power adapter plugged into it (netflix looks fine, as do vids played through mVideoplayer). The composite adapter cable does not work with the p6210.

I have the hdmi adapter, and it works well enough. I have hooked it up to a hdmi monitor and a hdtv. I haven't tried it without it being powered by the adapter. One curious note though:
The P6210 turns itself off if plugged into the hdmi adapter with the screen off charging from the ac adapter. Not a SOD, just completely turned off. Not that big of a deal, although it takes a few minutes for the music player to reindex my mp3s. My solution as such is to not charge the tab on the adapter, just use it when I want to watch something (movie/game) on a larger screen).
I picked up an OEM version on amazon for $32.99 USD (http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HDMI-Adapter-Galaxy-10-1/dp/B0059UGT1K/ref=pd_2)
Hope that helps.
I found a multimedia dock for the original galaxy tab 7 for $15 and it works for HDMI out. The 7+ is slightly wider.
question
Hello, If I want to connect the tablet to see a film on TV and charge it at the same time, it is possible???, imagine I want to see 3 films .
Thanks.
best and cheapest
Like the other post here, the Original 7 tab hdmi dock is the cheapest and it work at Amazon for under $15, if you have the mini-HDMI cable already. Package didn't come with original packaging box, but it come new and have everything needed. Note you do need your own mini-HDMI cable ( I grab one that come with my PC video card) and a 30 pin charger cable that with the Tab 7 plus. With the Tab 7 plus, it is wider then the original 7 Tab for the removable place holder. I didn't use it with the Tab 7 plus, but another option you can use a dremel to cut the side out, either way it work. Do know you will get a little video overscan on TV and I don't see and setting to correct it. But all in all video and audio stereo pass to your TV or sound system. The stand is a glossy black finish and connection are mini-HDMI on right side, 3.5 jack and the charger pin on the back.

Is there a way to do it with the IR connection us tab 7 plus users are fortunate enough to have or ability to conncect wirelessly without tv compliant with bluetooth or wifi / ethernet. ? Maybe something i can plug in to make tv have bluetooth or something? The only way to output to a TV is via HDMI via the cable pretty much
So I've decided to go with the galaxy tab 7 multimedia dock.... it was only 14 with shipping amazon I hope the output resolution is as maximum as the galaxy tab plus 7 ? I find it a joke to spend 30 to 40 on one single little cable no thanks!

using OTG connection with female USB outlet & getting a USB to RCA for connection.I hope it is okay...Pls post out if anyone willing to try out!
thks!
I picked up 4 of the Galaxy Tab multimedia docks for $7 each. They work fine with the GT7+, the fit is a little tight but will work. I am getting 1080i to my TV. You do need the power cable connected for it to work, so I picked up a couple extra of those too, connected to any USB will work, but won't charge. It appears to switch the screen to landscape when connected to HDMI, and I didn't get it to switch to portrait, which is the orientation the tab is in while in the dock. I am thinking about fabricating a stand to go along with one of the docks I got so I can use it in a landscape orientation to match the TV output.
Does the hdmi adapter works with a 1amp charger? I'm hasitating between sgt7+ and the mediapad. It'd be good if don't have to buy an other charger.

[Q] Is it mandatory to connect the charger with the HDTV Adapter ?

Hi Guys,
I've got my HDTV Adapter for a stock Galaxy Note 10.1, I'm a bit disappointed because it looks like it's mandatory to connect the charger (the cable already has got an extra slot for connecting the charger) in order to make the note send what it is displayed on its screen to the cable so I can see it on the computer screen for example.
Does anybody have an idea if this is true or not ? I'd love the idea if it is an option but not an obligation !!!!

Well, let me tell you why I'm a bit disappointed, I used to have an iPad which used in a lot of meetings moving here in and there with my pad and cable, now I've to have a power source around or even a computer, with a at least two cables with/without a charger, I'm not bothered with that at home but while one business this note didnn't prove to be a stand-alone, I'm not sure if an app that may simulate charging can deceicve tthe note on that aspect or not but so far, this can be considered a draw-back

HDMI and the S3

I can't seem to get video to play on TV with HDMI from the S3.
I bought an aftermarket HDMI on eBay and I plug it in while video playing and nothing happens.
Do I need a Samsung specific cable? Or any tips?

So, I also had a similar issue recently. I bought one by Skiva that came up in an S3 search. Turns out, works for Galaxy S, S2, but not S3. The S3 uses a different interface for MHL than the previous S models.
I eventually caved and dropped $30 on a Samsung S3 -> HDMI adapter. Adapters to make it function with legacy MHL interfaces are available, I believe. Just make sure they claim (and are reputable about it) working with the S3.
EDIT: Also, if your tv's HDMI interface isn't "HDCP Compatible" (recent TV's use a handshaking protocol for basically DRM) it will either receive no signal or a black screen, and the device will claim it is outputting video normally.
Which adapter did you buy?
As sworld pointed out, the S3 uses a different MHL setup than older phones. It uses an 11-pin connector, where the standard 5 USB pins remain for USB, but deeper inside the S3's connector are 6 more pins to be used with MHL.
If the adapter you bought only has 5 pins then you'll need to buy an 11-pin to 5-pin adapter. Then your MHL adapter will work.

HDMI cable??

guys whats cable works for S4?

I bought the cable below and it works pretty well, though the phones battery still drains faster than the cable will charge. Even with the OEM 2A charger. What you should be looking for is an 11 pin MHL cable or adapter (other phones use what I believe is a 5 pin cable). The nice thing about the one I bought is that it includes an adapter for the S4 but it will work with any MHL compatible device.

You are correct. 11 pin MHL connectors will work with the S4, which also means the Note 2, S3, and a few others will be compatible with the S4. However the S2 is a 5 pin connector and will not work.
I was looking for one too. Thanks!

Anyone has use the mhl 3.0 hdtv adapter? It said that the power cable is not required? Anyone tested it? It also can send image to the tv at more resolution that 1080P.
Hey,
I don't know if this will help, but in my first week of owning the GNE I tried to connect it to my television using a mhl 1.0 adapter I got off of eBay. It needed the charging cable to power the adapter, but overall it didn't work. I read somewhere online, that a Samsung brand television is required, or maybe not? I have an Bose television, which is not that popular, but if someone on here can get it to work on a non-Samsung brand television using a mhl 3.0 adapter, let me know.
Thank you for your time and for reading.

I have an MHL 1.0 adapter (Samsung brand) that works fine with my Galaxy S3 and Note 10.1 (2014) tablet, but doesn't work with my Note Edge. Definitely something different between the two technologies.
I actually picked up an MHL cable form Amazon last week. I've used a few different brands, and they've always been unreliable - I'm including Samsung's here, which failed in less than a week (!) because of poor construction.
This one's worked pretty well for me so far! I've used it with my Note 10.1 as well as my Note Edge and my only real complaint is the shortness of the cable. You'll have to have a wall outlet pretty closeby or an extension cable in order to use this thing with either of the devices I mentioned. Or you can do what I did and just hook up one of those portable batteries you can get just about anywhere now.
I can't post links yet, but if you look up "Rankie MHL", youll find it.
