(GUIDE): "Hard Bricking" & "Resurrecting" the A110 made easy- - Micromax A110

Well I finally managed to Hard Brick my A110 a few days back. I was thinking that everything was lost and my A110 was as good as a brick! But I struggled with it for two days and finally managed to bring it back to life! This is how I hard bricked it, but resurrected it too....
Hard brick:
The hard brick happens when you flash a non A110 stock ROM through SP flash. This happens when you get overconfident during ROM development experiments and forget the basic fact that flashing the "pre-loader" accidentally of any other ROM( (even if it is of MT6577) that is different from A110 leads to the phone going dead. The charge LED dies, and the phone is totally in alien land when the PC sees it through the USB cable You cannot flash anything through the SP flash any more. The phone will not power on or boot. Welcome to the land of bricked phones!
Resurrection:
1) First perform an uninstall of the MMX/Mobistel drivers you already have on
your P.C. Install the drivers again.
2) Take a piece of insulated wire (Around 3 cms long) and solder a 10K resistor
to one end. To the other end solder a pin to the pin head so that the tip is
free.
3) Remove your phone battery and keep the phone ready.
4) On the PC/Laptop, start SP flash tool and select the right scatter from the factory stock A110 ROM. un-tick all except the first five (Preloader, DSP_BL, MBR, EBR1, UBOOT) + CWM recovery (You should have replaced default recovery with CWM recovery in the ROM folder). Click "Firmware-upgrade, Download.
5) With battery taken off from your phone connect it to the PC/Lap using the USB cable.
6) Now touch the resistor end to the USB Cable outer part (GND) visible at the point of USB connector connected to the phone.
7) Touch the other part (pin end) to all visible copper terminals one by one.
8) Now without removing the cable, place the battery back.
9) Now keep your fingers crossed. If you have luck, you will see the red, blue, green and finally yellow lines on the SP tool window. You are done!!!
10) If your battery was having good charge when you were bricked, you can now power on to recovery mode and flash your CWM saved ROM or any other ROM.
11) If your battery was low, when you were bricked, leave it to charge for an hour before attempting to flash the entire stock ROM through SP flash or CWM.
Cheers!!!:victory:

Hard brick occurs when we flash preloader of different incompatible fone ryt...and hence fone wont detect on spflash tool..
What if we install the preloader drivers of that incompatible device; can we get the fone to detect in spflashtools ? If it wrks, then we can flash back the A110 preloader files ryt ?
Some one with a hardbricked device ,pls try it out if possible, before doing the hardware method suggested by OP

yea ...thats why i am asking it to the next guy who gets a hardbrick and is just about to follow pradip sir's steps following this thread, to just give a try , before doing it the hardwire method!

Resister method works for almost every phone
It will put the phone in download mode
Even it is not booting or charging
guide can be found on xda
Just search it
Jigs methods works as well

In Step 7 which "visible copper terminals" are meant?
The Phone is connected to PC and the other end of data cable is pluged into phone, so there are no copper pins to touch.

is it possible to do same on mmx a87... m8ne is also hard bricked....

Thanks a lot for the reply.
I tried but nothing happening..its not detecting as usb to change port to 41.
Is there any other way?? Also for flashing when i insert battery and press volume up and then connect it starts and shows LG logo and goes blank.
It is not showing in PORT in device manager when connected pressing volume + button
Does the phone go to download mode ("S/W upgrade mode ) ?? By insert the battery while you hold vol+ ??
You will see two arrows like the sync symbol in your phone screen . And then the phone will still connected with the PC .
Your problem is easy to fix . Just try to enter download mode . And every thing will be fine .
Good Luck

You hardbricked your phone if it doesn't go into download mode.
But no panic there is always a solution;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942836
Follow the guide above. (and I mean every step , however small they may seem)
ICS roms are now pre-rooted so you don't have to root.
Flash Xbsall's Ported custom ics (The one in the guide.)
Then install wkpark's recovery img. (Found here ; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1978543)
Boot into recovery.
Install Darkroom ICS Int. (It's the best in my opinion) or whatever rom you wish.
They are all pre-rooted.
If you can't i'll guide you through it.
Hope i Helped.
Cheers!

Thanks a lot for the help and i really appreciate your willingness to take me out of this trouble, Thanks again
Everything worked fine till step 9..But still not showing anything in Ports
Make sure the drivers are correctly installed. Especially omap4430...
Start the script that has been referred to in the guide.
Shut down the phone , remove the battery , plug usb cable and when you see "waiting for 5 seconds" plug in the battery. That should work.
Keep me posted.

That may mean you have a bad cable.
But if you restored it , it's probably sometimes bad or you changed it or you used the front panel which is a hub (divides bandwidth , slows flashing process) and it's bad for ya.
Since my real name is turkish and hard to spell i'll give one better ;
Call me John.
If you must know my real name is "Dogukan".
And yes i can help you with that although it's relatively easy now that you got a hold of it.
Thanks a lot Dogukan..
Are you into android development? Am a real noob in this and you helped me coming out of really difficult situation.
Now i want to root my phone and everytime its showing 'error no device find'
I'm not into android development... my skills lie in networking so there is not much i can do for android.
But those are common knowledge...
I bricked my phone several times to learn those.
You don't need to root. Follow wkpark's recovery installation and flash a custom rom (Darkroom int is great)

Hi, to unbrick a device, you can use in general a USB Jig. It is a litile USB you plug in to your device and it gets unbricked in 5s. This looks a little magical but it works. In fact, most companies protect their devices from hard-brick by putting a second, non software reachable memory whith a copy of its bootloader. Inserting a USB with a 300kOhm (called USB Jig) resistance makes it restore the bootloader, and then it become unbricked and you can load a new ROM to your device.
Here are some videos on how to make a USB Jig, and how to use it. (you just have to plug it in reality)
Well, just search "USB jig" on youtube and you'll find tons of good results, especially the three first ones.
PS: you may either create your own USB jig or buy one from a store or the internet.

[Q] Micromax A100 Not switching ON

I have a Micromax A100 mobile which is out of warranty. I tried to update the ICS with Jb 4.1.1 and at that time the mobile got OFF and now I am not able to SWITCH ON the mobile .
I tried with VolDown + Power key at the same time to launch FASTBOOT and so many options like that. The mobile is not ON.
Actually at the time of installation of GRAND ROM V3, downloaded from this site, it got struck, showing the message ""ERROR 7, Installtion Aborted"". I manually operated the options ( dont exactly remember) and tried to REBOOT and then it got OFF and not SWITCHED ON till now for the past 10 days.
When I connect it to PC with USB Cable, it is NOT SHOWN as a device in MY COMPUTER but is showing in Device Manager as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" . What does this mean and what to do to solve this issue.
If you people say it is BRICKED, what is the solution for this ?
How can I get back my phone back in ON condition ?
Thanking you in anticipation for a solution.

You flashed a110 rom on a100? Well then, yes it's partially bricked, since your bootloader is working as per device manager , so you can try to flash stock rom ofA100 on it using a flash tool meant for it.

Micromax A100 Switch ON Problem.
Friends,
Many of you told many options. My issue is unless it is detected by the PC (as a device under my computer), we will not be able to do anything as per me.
The other day I tried to do something using QPST V.2.7.402 and there also, the phone was detected as per the COM2 but capturing is not done and hence there also I was not able to do .
Understood from our forum only about UNBRICK. What does it mean and will there be any use of having it ? Also downloaded EAZY JTAG today morning using the links from our forum. Is it at all useful for me ?
To let all you guys know, the phone has no problem at all prior to this ROM installation. Now, am not able to SWITCH it ON.
As asked by Mr VISH97, I don't have any backup or I am not able to switch on the phone, so where is the point of entering recovery mode ?
As you guys say BRICKED is there any other solution for get back to working ??

Hello....
Try this one..
Switch off your mobile...
Now press volume up + Power button...
Then you will see three option something like Recovery, fastboot, factory...
You have to choose fastboot option...
when fastboot is selected then connect your phone to PC via USB cable...this will install some helpful drivers to your PC....and then again try the flash method without battery...

yeah, everything was according to the tutorial. phone was detected, first red, then blue then yellow progress bar & finally green circle. I removed the usb & reinserted the battery after flashing then pressed the power button. Karbonn animation shown & stuck at the eye screen. After a number of failed attempts I decied to erase the whole device & then flash again. I erased flash+bootloader. The phone is dead now. not powering up. But if I connect the phone via usb to pc a beep sound is heard. Any clue, how to restore the bootloader?
How

I Used SP flash tool to format the device. There was an option for erasing everything (Flash + bootloader).
Will the service center accept my case.?
Ummm

Thanks a million times man for your suggestion.
I tried with fastboot but no device shown. I went to device manager & uninstalled-then reinstalled the drivers. That actually helped me to build the serial communication between SP flash tool & Device.
Then I discarded the battery & retried the SP flash tool, this time the phone is finally detected & flashed successfully. red, blue, yellow bar then green circle. DONE.
Now, the same issue. Karbonn boot animation is displayed & stuck at the eye screen. I have covered the halfway but cant be able to get success in the other half (cant see the homescreen or anything.)

Phone is OK now but it says INVALID IMEI... any suggestions please...

Connected to charger: red light on stable, vibrate every 2 seconds. Stops vibrate only pulling batt out (disconnect don't stop vibrate)
Connected to PC: not recognized at all, rel light stable, vibrate every 2 sec. Stops vibrate only pulling batt out (disconnect don't stop vibrate)
Connected to PC, with VOL+ or VOL- or both VOL pressed: the same as above
In each case display remains black.

Water damage indicators are all white.

This is a clear guide
http://androidmtk.com/fix-huawei-ascend-g700-bootloop
it's for bootloop, but works for bricked also.
(obviously) Hints:
->Flash the RIGHT rom for you mobile
=>Flashing a wrong ROM or wrong PRELOADER results bricked mobile more difficult to unbrik, requires mobile to be open and access the so-known TestPoint on motherboard.
->Ensure your battery is charged enough
Maintain mobile connected to the pc until the end of process
May be you have to swith off Antivirus
Better run FlashTool as administrator (move mouse on file .exe, right click, run as administrator)
(please report if success or not)
Good Luck!

P.S.: My mobile is dead now, I suppose due of static electricity of my body/jumper replacing ON/OFF & VOL+/- flex cables...:crying:
didn't work for me
