Blocking Mode Fix (Root Required) - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

**I am not responsible for any damage you do to your phone. This as any other mod is done at your own risk. This is just a guidline on how to get a real fix for blocking mode on your VZW Jelly Bean device.**
This blocking mode fix has been confirmed on both the VZW Note 2 and the VZW Galaxy S3
*You need to be rooted.*
IF YOUR ON A NON-VZW BASED ROM:
JUST FOLLOW PART 3!! (and part 4 if you like!)
IF YOUR ON A VZW BASED ROM:
Part 1
There are two apks that are the reason for blocking mode not working. The two files are the secContacts.apk and the secPhone.apk. You will need download these two apks from a other carriers rom and replace them in the system/app folder in root explorer (or your choice system file explorer) and change the permissions.. (For example download a flashable "att" note 2 rom and copy the secContacts.apk and the secPhone.apk and paste them into your system/app folder. Restart then change the permissions then restart again. Same thing with the Galaxy s3 only you have to download files from another carrier galaxy s3 Rom. From this point on blocking mode will work 100 percent.
Part 2
Now that you have blocking mode working, how can you access it. You can get a shortcut maker app and have a blocking mode home screen icon... OR..You can have it in the settings menu like it's supposed to be! Now just like before there is an apk that VZW had changed to block this. It is the secSettings.apk. So from the same rom you downloaded from before copy the sec.Settings.apk from the other carrier Rom and paste it in your system/app folder in root explorer. At this point you may or may not get a chance to restart your phone (it might freeze for a sec and restart by itself. Once phone restarts change the permissions and restart again. **NOTE: Some roms settings mave have more or less options then the stock. To access these just also copy and paste the secSettingsProvider.apk and everything will work perfectly** **NOTE: menu appearance will not change yet!**
Part 3
Last step. Now that you have the new menu there are still two more files that are causing the menu to change. In root explorer navigate to /efs/imei and delete the map_code.dat and then go to /system/Csc and delete the sales_code.dat. Now restart your phone and you are good to go. **NOTE: after deleting these files any VZW apps on your phone or in market will not be recognized on your phone. For example if you try to download a VZW app from the market it will say your device is not recognized. But they have 'market unlocker' apps that can trick the market to see you as any carrier you want. Also VZW Apps like backup assistant might not work properly.
Part 4
This is not really related to blocking mode but I though I might throw it in here as a bonus. If you copy the feature.xml from another carrier (ex is use the ATT one) and paste it in you /system/csc (I'm my opinion) makes your VZW phone better. The stock email app for example will never try to connect to the VZW server again. It will just go straight to the email app. It also seems to make your phone more responsive and work better with certain samsung apps. (Ex: the samsung apps.apk connects better with samsung push service.* Like I said just a little something extra I noticed.*
ENJOY!
EDIT: Those of you having trouble with step 2 with the secSettings.apk, try the file from either of these rom:
EDIT: You may need to wipe first.

what does deleteing the /efs/imei, and sales_code.dat. do?

Sec settings crashes after I replace it, fix permissions, and reboot. Tried cache wipes, etc. No luck on that part. Using a Sprint base MB1 for all files.

I didn't mess with it long, but I got it to work once, but then I wiped and tried again and the same method I used didn't work, so I tried following the OP and didn't work.
if deleting those two files isn't that big of a deal I may try and figure out how to appropriately port this MOD using VZW .apks edited using int. .apks

Which rom are you on? I can give you the files iv been working with if you want to try. Iv been working with an ATT Rom. This method after wiping worked with the files iv been using.
As for the sales_code.dat and map_code.dat as i know that are just for the market to reconginze your device a VZW.for certain VZW apps. Like i said the only thing it did after deleting them for me was the market thing. certain apps like backup assistant might not work properly. everything else is fine.
Also yea a port might be better. Let me know whats up.

I have CleanROMACE downloaded, I got it working with that, very strange though, I did get it showing, blocking mode did turn on and everything got he noti in the status bar I didnt test to make sure they work im sure they do.
I did comb through the VZW secsettings.apk and the one that makes it work and I cannot find a single thing that is making blocking mode show..
very weird..
I'm going to try going thru the SecConacts.apk and SecPhone.apk to see if I an get a port. if you don't use the att secconacts andsecphone, does blocking mode what just not work? fc? do you know by chance?
thank you

Ok so on my note 2 I am also on clean Rom ace. So all I did was delete the Sale_code and map_code files and it will show blocking mode in the menu and blocking mode already works. no need to replace any files because clean rom uses generic apks i guess that work for all carriers. so blocking mode already works.. as for the galaxy s 3 i used an att rom to get blocking mode to work with the method in the op. I will upload the files and send you a link in a minute

i would try the european rom first. but the should both work.

Another way to do this is to use the 23 lidroid toggle MOD and just enable the "dormant mode" that is blocking mode, this way you don't have to mess with settings.apk and anything with market. long press the toggle to access the settings. and flash the phone and contacts. i havent tested to see if anything works but it should id imagine. if not at least u dont have to mess with settings..

True. Although I personally could are less about any of verizons apps. I think they all are garbage, so for me i dont care about the market saying my device isnt recognized because i dont use them anyway. And the whole reason behind verizon changed everything in the the first place P*$$ed me off and drove me to want to change everything back, the way it should be, the way ALL the other carriers have there phone set up. This is how i found my method. So swapping the settings.apk for another, and deleting 2 (IMO) useless files, will make the menu look the way it was intended to with blocking mode in the menu, no replacement airplane mode toggle, and NO permenant backup assistant accounts, which shows up even if backup assistant is deleted on your phone. There is obviously more than one way to achieve this a blocking mode fix. Its good to have options.

I wasn't posting this to put you down, just a simpler way to do it.
Just because you don't think that those file are important doesn't mean EVERYONE else feels that way. I give you mad props for finding the other two (useless) files to get it to show in settings (which isn't even made for our phones and adds a lot of MORE useless crap).. IMHO
I'm sure many users enjoy your method, but I think many others will also appreciate NOT having to replace their settings.apk and remove files that a VZW phone needs. Pushing the Phone.apk and Contacts.apk from Synergy is no biggie since we use that ROM anyway.
No need to get defensive bud. Team work is the key here, I'd like to eliminate all int. .apks, and try and port w.e code is missing from our VZW .SecPhone.pk and SecContacts.apk.
again, like I said - mad props for figuring this out bro, many many people across VZW on sgiii and note2 were requesting this like crazy.
and again wasn't trying to put your method down by any means, just letting those know of another way.

I wasn't trying to sound like I was getting defensive I was just saying what I thought. Thanks you for the props. I also have to give you props. I agree the missing code is a better and easier method then mine. And I agree team work makes the dream work lol.. I have no idea how to edit the code and go through lines of code of apks so your skills clearly surpass mine.. but yeah glad I can help with what I discovered and hope we can figure it out properly.

Hulu Plus not supported on Skyrocket...WAHT!

Not that I would pay for Hulu, but I watch their free content sometimes. This is a travesty.
yea I noticed this yesterday too...disappointing.
HULU works on the skyrocket........
just use one of the deodexed roms(like this one-- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341616), which will let you edit the libs of the Flashplayer. use the Libflashplayer.so hack that is on xda replace it and give it the proper premission and BAM!!!! you got hulu
have been watching hulu on my phone since melvin dropped his first rom.
if for some reason you just cant manage to find the Hack i will post it up for you and give credit to the Dev.

I know that but what I consider stock is a ROM that hasn't been messed with at all.
I normally run Cyanogen Mod 7 but it's not available yet.
No, I don't like the crap bloatware apps.
Thing is, I will not die without Hulu and it's not enough reason for me to grab the first thing that comes along and install it.
I am actually enjoying the stock rom on this phone. Can't do everything I am used to but, I have to say that it's been pretty nice.
I will likely consider Cyanogen when it comes out for this phone but I am going to have to think pretty hard at this point. That rom has caused nothing but issues for me on multiple phones in regards to GPS which I rely on quite a bit. I know there are fixes and I got my GPS working after a lot of hassle on my Evo but never had success fixing it on my Inspire. Been nice having my GPS working without an issue on my Skyrocket. So... At this point, I just don't want to mess with the stock rom until I have a chance to evaluate it more.
My phone is rooted and that seemed to be all I needed to edit the needed files in the past but I guess not in this case.
Didn't Hulu come out recently and say they are supporting all Android devices now or was that Netflix?

I agree the Stock rom on the SR is great thats why im not even worried about not having 5 or 6 roms to choose from. i thinks its pretty nice as is. but i like to be able to edit certain files. and i think all you need it root explorer and you CAN edit pretty much everything on the phone.
but i didnt notice that you cant edit the build.prop, or the libs. i had to pull the build prop and edit on my comp and push it back.
and CM7 is a buggy nice little rom one of those things were you deal with the problems cuz its so damn nice. same with miui.

What did you change in the build.prop? The manufacturer, the model screen settings? I have done this on multiple devices including my Honeycomb tablet. My HoneyComb tablet (Acer A100) is running stock rom and I know I was able to edit the build.prop on that just using ES Explorer.
Let me know what to change and I will give it a whack, after backing up the build.prop file and making a nandroid

It shouldnt be......
may i ask what files you are seeing in the Lib folder on the com.adaobe.flashplayer.
you shouuld have four files in there already right? i have seen it where it is empty sometimes and that means this wont work. ALSO if you unistall flash and reinstall flash 11 it repopulate the lib folder and i have had luck with this as well. once you get it will stick though. you wont have to this every reboot or anything.

thats the Internal SD....you have to go through Data/Data/Com.adobeflashplayer.lib/Lib<<<<you will find it in there.
but i believe you have to be on a DEODEXED rom....not the stock unless you know how to pull a lib file from the phone extract and edit. then push it back(this meathod is harder)

You also need root access. I used root explorer (from the market) to access the appropriate folder on my phone.

this is true, but even with root on the stock rom(odexed) i dont think you can edit the lib files.

[FIX][ Sprint VVM ]

Hey guys
This should fix the Sprint visual voice mail on some roms.
Zip files below are
Sprint VVM Fix.rar
Are the files you need to merge with your rom and do a fresh flash.
update.zip
This will should work ( if you can reprovision your phone. )
For sense roms after you install the update via recovery and reboot,
you need to dial ##786# go to menu/reset and enter your MSL number.
Non sense roms you may need to call sprint and have them reprovision
Your phone. Remember this still may not work with your particular Rom !
oh yea, the little counter still doesnt show over the widget
on how many voice mails are un heard, working on that!
show some love and hit the thanks button.
Dude, totally works on MIUI
Sprint VVM has always worked on MIUI.. just have a titanium backup of Voicemail with at least one stored message on it and back it up. Then restore on your fresh MIUI install.. Go into phone settings and change your voicemail number from *86 to your actual phone number.. done..
does it work with boostmobile too?
Why/how did this thread just get moved from the Themes and Apps subforum to Dev forum?
Not hatin. Just dont understand why it moved.

It was, until about 2 months ago. Then it would provision, maybe work for a day (This is by flashing it in GAPPS) then stop working.
This method seems to work fine right from first Boot after flashing the ROM
Tried every fix to get visual voicemail to work on my MIUI ROM but get the 'Unable to play message' error every time. I want to give this fix a try but need to know how would I go about merging these files into the ROM? Any help I'd greatly appreciate

I have the files broken down as to where they would go inside the Rom,
Open up your rom up with either 7zip, or winrar, navigate to the \system\bin folder
open up the zip file I posted the same way, and drag the 3 files from inside the bin folder to inside your roms bin folder,
now do the same with the file inside system\app folder, move that file inside your roms system\app folder,
say yes to any prompts of do you want to add these files to the zip, that may pop up!
Also remove any older versions of Sprints VVM that may be in your rom
Close off 7zip, or winrar, and re flash your rom.
After your phone starts up for the first time, go in to apps and light it up for the first time,
it will set its self up, and you should be able to view micsausages after that!
I'm having this moved over to themes and software side of the forum.

I appreciate you taking the time to give me a step-by-step guide to get this working. I'm an owner of a Mac so will see if using the built in zip/unzip feature will work. Also I have everything else working perfectly and don't know if I want to reflash the ROM to have to setup everything again. Was anyone able to make this fix a flashable file yet by any chance?

Yes HipKat, how'd you get this fix to work on MIUI? (Oh btw lionedas I'm a she )
I'm running EnergyROM 2/6/2012.
I tried every fix in that thread and this one to get Sprint VVM working and nothing worked. It has something to do with VVM setting itself up when the phone hasn't been provisioned correctly or something related to that. Steps #6 and #7 below are not possible in EnergyROM that I can tell.
This is what I did (took ~15 minutes, after 2 days of f*&^ing with it):
1) nandroid everything on my phone.
2) Boot into recovery
3) Flash FreshROM -- this has a baseline working VVM.
4) Boot clean, setup, but DO NOT launch VVM
5) Settings... Update PRL
6) Settings... System Update
7) Launch VVM and verify it works.
8) Do not update VVM
9) Do a complete Titanium backup of VVM (w/data)
10) Boot into recovery
11) Restore everything from nandroid in step #1
12) Reboot normally
13) Use Titanium to COMPLETELY delete VVM (w/data)
14) Use Titanium to restore VVM backup (w/data) from step #9
Ben
I should add... the above fixed VVM for me.
Has anyone tried this yet, not sure if it will work but its woth a try.
its my vvm backup but with my info removed, you might be able to just add your info to the file and then do the backup.
Someone give this a try.
with the titanium backup I posted below edit it for your info,
use open archive from in 7zip. find com.coremobility.app.vnotes-20111231-152250.tar.gz
navigate to data\data\com.coremobility.app.vnotes\shared_pref
take out just cmconfigstring.xml and edit it
edit all the parts I removed with my info, and replace them with your info,
parts to look for in cmconfigstring.xml that I removed are
>username only, No @sprintpcs.com<
>your 10 digit #<
>[email protected]<
>10 digit MSID<
there are like 5 or maybe 6 places to look for
do not leave spaces, and or dashes inside it should look like this >6165551212< and >username01< and >[email protected]<
save file and place back in, say yes to 7zip saving,
place the entire titanium folder on your sd card, and do a backup of voicemail app, install the Sprint vvm 5.1.60 from below, and before you start it try and do a backup of data only.
please post any results.

[App][Mod]Google Wallet Installer

Google Wallet Installer for Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and US Cellular Samsung Galaxy S3.
Requires ROOT, an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER, and BUSYBOX!(A deodexed ROM is just recommended)
My newest project, RemoteFlash, was just released! Take a look and give it a try!
Wallet Installer Is Now Available For Free To All Supported Carrier Models On XDA! (Donations Appreciated)
My application, "Wallet Installer", will install Google Wallet on almost any US based Samsung Galaxy S3. It simply edits your build.prop and then places the correct modifications into your system. It downloads all the files from my personal server, which is pretty quick. Just select the appropriate Rom type: AOSP, JB Touchwiz, or ICS TouchWiz, and then your carrier: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, or US Cellular. I also added a restore option for your build.prop, so you can restore it after you setup Google Wallet. Hopefully this helps you out and makes the process easier!
Wallet Installer has been updated on the server side. The credit goes to Paul Obrien for the new version! To install it, simply reset Google Wallet, delete it, and then rerun Wallet Installer! Make sure to also have BusyBox installed/updated!
Please donate if my work helps you : )

And as always: I take no responsibility for bricked devices, whether a soft brick or a full on brand new coffee coaster.
Dude. You are awesome. I was just in the official wallet thread and was hesitant on going through with it because it seemed daunting having to change the build prop. I'm about to flash slim Bean 3.1 and then try this out. Will update this post once I finish trying it out . Hopefully all goes well!!!
Well I ended up lagging on the install but just wanna say thanks again because it worked perfectly. First try and not a single problem as of yet. Awesome!!
Glad to help! Hopefully all goes well! If the download stalls just give it a while, my server is a retired galaxy nexus hooked up to WiFi lol. My WiFi sucks sometimes.

My application, "WalletInstaller", will install Google Wallet on any Verizon S3. It simply swaps out your build.prop with a modified one and then flashes an open recovery (TWRP 2), and in the open recovery flashes the latest version of Google Wallet along with the required NFC libs for your rom. It downloads all the files from my personal server, which can be somewhat slow, but I'll be upgrading soon. Hopefully there won't be any download issues. Just select the appropriate rom type: AOSP, JB Touchwiz, or ICS TouchWiz. Hopefully it helps you out and makes the process easier! It has been tested on my device, which is running CM10, but the other options haven't been tested, but they should work great. I will also hopefully make it to support all US carrier based S3's after the weekend is over.
My application will be in the market for 99 cents if you feel like supporting the cause(will post link once uploaded), or you can download it here for free. Please don't post links to my application without my personal consent. Thank you!

So I installed the app and set it all up just fine, in fact, I was about to test out wallet at a locat establishment but I noticed something was a little weird. I tried to change my wallpaper to a picture in my gallery. For some reason I got an error that "Not enough space. Delete photos, music, etc." Last time I checked I had plenty of space. I opened up setting and storage to find my device storage has a total of 4GB of space (with close to 2GB's of free space remaining). My S3 is a 16GB unit. Obviously things are a bit haywire. I'm running CleanROM 5.0 at the moment so I'm not sure if your app would conflict with that but things were fine prior to this. What do you think?
when i choose ics touchwiz install it loads terminal emulator and says rm failed for /system/build.prop no such file or directory
I'm not sure if my app would interfere quite like that. It shouldn't, but when messing with the build.prop and a custom ROM you can never be positive. If anything else odd happens, pm me and I'll look into it.

It's possible that your system didn't mount properly, or that your ROM is using some sort of mod that moved the build.prop, or it may have been removed or altered by another application.
Got mine installed and all looks good but same thing about the wallpaper..........says no space even though it has space.

Here's one question for you...
Why does your installation include TWRP 2.3.1.0.
I already had a CWM Recovery...that was strange to me.....when I get to work I am going to try to flash over that to see if that's the problem. Could be that. But right now I can't access my internal drive let alone the backups if I were to start over.......LOL.....I wouldn't be able to get to.
Live and Learn I guess.

I'm sorry that you're having trouble. I included TWRP because it uses an open, unencrypted script file to pass commands to recovery. CWM, from my understanding, requires an encrypted, not so universal script file called extended commands. Depending on what recovery someone was running, flashing a script would not work, or it would possibly brick their device. I wanted to make sure everything was done correctly.
Also... I will take a look at all my server side files today and the app. I can't make changes from where I am, since I don't have ftp setup and I'm out of town, but I can download them and see where I may have gone wrong. My best guess is the build.prop swap causing issues, if any of you have possible leads, post them here and I can attempt a fix later today or tomorrow.
BTW...Wallet worked like a charm in 7-11 and Whole Foods
Taking pictures is a little harder too...have to switch to external to save the pictures....the Camera 4.2 doesn't even allow you to switch to external card.
Would be a shame to scrap this working wallet for these issues

I'm getting ready to attempt a flash on CleanRom in a few minutes to see if that's the only ROM having issues. Hopefully you guys can stick this out until everything's working great ; )
I flashed wallet and libs using my app on CleanRom 5. I was able to replicate the same error as you guys posted. Also, I don't know if you guys checked, but in recovery it mounts the internal sdcard perfectly, so that tells me it may have something to do with CleanRom in specific. I'm going to flash through some stock touchwiz ROMs with Odin and see what results I get in that area. Hopefully it's just a ROM specific ordeal. Sorry for the long posts, just trying to keep you all updated!

Living with Root and Knox (SELinux = enforcing) - Tipps n Tricks collection

So you want to keep (knox) warranty and still use root?
Well there is RDLV and the "forbidden" Tool for that, BUT you will still have SELinux on enforcing mode, which means you don't have full control even with root. While technically most things still do work, they might work a lil different or need a different approach.
Lets collect our findings here...
---
First of all, remounting system with apps like solid explorer does not seem to work.
A workaround for this is to run the following command in terminal or through quick terminal etc:
Code:
/system/bin/mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system
This command gets through where other methods fail. Once you have mounted the system writable like this, you can go back to your root explorer app to delete things etc on system partition. Solid explorer gives me error messages still when I delete apps from /system/app/, but they still disappear / get deleted.
---
This also brings me to my next workaround:
To delete system apps and not just freeze them with Titanium, you need to remount system like above and then delete the apks from the /system/app/ directory. A reboot should then remove everything else related to that app afaik. (like the /data/data/ of the app etc.)
Titanium on the other hand gives me an error when I try to delete a system app, even after remounting system to rw.
---
If you want to edit things from your system partition, like build.prop etc. Copy them to your sd first and edit them there. Then mount system rw, and create a backup of the file you are editing. (make a copy and just append "_bak" or smth to the file name) And finally copy the sd file over the corresponding file in system. Make sure you check permissions before and after you copied everything and edit them if they do not match up.
---
My final Tip for now:
I noticed that most root methods on SELinux (this includes RDLV and the forbidden one) use install-recovery.sh to start su as a system daemon which handles all the su requests. (as far as I understood it at least).
Well we can also use this file (or create an install-recovery-2.sh in /etc/ which gets called by the first one by default when you got the root) to run init.d scripts or other stuff.
I don't have tested it yet but I will put the code below once it works...
Code:
tbd
..
hopefully we find a way to turn off this selinux enforcing mode while keeping knox warranty at some point.. - xposed framework might be the answer but not sure - in theory its able to overwrite all methods used by apps. (but I guess selinux above xposed still in system rights and therefore cannot be affected by it?)
And another one:
Don't like this big n clunky user interface? The DPI for the Note 3 is set to 480, thats for old people! If you have want things a bit more refined and more "space" on the screen, edit your build.prop (like I mentioned above) and set the "ro.sf.lcd_density" value down.
I used 360 instead of 480 and that seems perfect to me. It looks like 240 DPI used to look on the Note 1. - You could try 320 or 400 as well.
If you want to set the dpi of individual apps, install xposed and the app settings module. (I would still set browser to 360 or even 320 dpi, 400 is just too much - the adress bar is so damn huge still)
Glad to see you still at it homie. Kingoapp is great. "Google kingoapp" anyone needing help. Just don't post any links please.

Definitely try out at least the dpi change to 360 or 400, that one is golden =). (nothing special but still..)
--
so far I haven't found anything that does not work at least with a workaround. Some apps do not work as supposed, but thats because they havent adapted yet to the new environment as far as I can tell. And yea, you cannot edit the selinux stuff or turn it off (at least not easy) but thats it. What I did not yet try, which is for risk-friendly people only anyway, is to mess with the efs folder. (you can change your devices mac there, good for privacy concerns hehe). Could be that selinux blocks that one as well, but other than that most things work alright. Just no custom recovery yet, but this could maybe be made possible through the install-recovery.sh file, telling it to start up a custom recovery but not actually flashing it hard onto the device.
Reboot apps I can't get to work. You know the apps that restart phone, bootloader etc... Even through the side 4 button mod. I can only reboot through factory restart. Pressing the power button and using the default restart button.

The 4 way reboot menu from Wanam's xposed module works fine for me if you wanted to check that out.
I got one. Enter download mode by powering off. Then hold volume_down+home+power then press volume_up when promtped. Ok now this is what blows my mind. Everyone says pull battery to exit. I did this and the center off my screen looked messed up for about 8 seconds and I thought there must be a better way. Guess what to exit just hold power by itself for about 10 secs and you reboot out of download mode. Great easy way to check counter and no longer have to remove case, battery, etc.

Only reason i wouldn't change the DPI for everything because some apps will look crazy. Then you will have apps also like the play store that may not work correctly.

good finding! (lol i couldve came up with this myself lol - holding power long enough always does a forced reboot).
I noticed too that when you pull the battery that sometimes you get lines on the screen - really scary, thought I messed up my device but after like 10 seconds or so they disappeared. But definitely something you want to avoid!
Holding down power to exit the download mode instead of pulling battery from now on.
I use Rootr Browser Pro... I can delete things out of the system partition and write into the system partition (after setting it for root privelege in settings and supersu) however I can''t just overwrite files.... The file I wish to overwrite must 1st be deleted or renamed, usually with .bak. Haven't had to use terminal.
Another handy tip, in the CSC folder, rename the customer.xls to customer.xls.bak and then a new option will be available in the settings/device/lock screen menu to add app shortcuts to the lock screen
if you add this code to the others.xml file AFTER <FeatureSet> and BEFORE </FeatureSet>
<CscFeature_Sip_UseSymbolInCMKey>true</CscFeature_Sip_UseSymbolInCMKey>
<CscFeature_Sip_EnableSymbolInSecondary>en_GB;en_U S;de;fr;es;it</CscFeature_Sip_EnableSymbolInSecondary>
You will then enable sub symbols on the default keyboard.
Works a dream...

wait a minute - the 4 way reboot does work for you? Are you on Knox 0x0 still? And SELinux status enforcing? For me no "reboot" apps seem to work. They all just try to reboot (and SELinux denies it then most likely)

one other problem occured: when using xprivacy and deinstalling an app the system locks up. Can someone confirm this?
Why do people insist on DELETING apps from system? Just use pm disable, sheesh.

The xprivacy lockup also happens with user apps deinstallation. Just want to make sure its not me or my setup but xprivacy thats causing this. I turned it off and it works, turn it on, device hangs on deinstallations.

Yeah, thanks for the tip. I used xpose app setting to set my nova launcher to be about 400. I will try modify the build.prop then.
Ok so what i did to quickly update to mj4 since it is now live. "you will lose root and everything on internal storage so back it up"
Be sure make COPY of backup of your titanium folder if use NOVA be sure to do a backup of your current layout. Copy these folders to your EXTsd. Remove card afterwards.
I was rooted so i kept getting "Cant up dated Modded system". Even unrooting i cant getting Modded system. I use almost the same root method as OP uses called kingoapp "cant provide links so google is your friend"
Anyhow.. i wanted to make sure i didnt trip KNOX and grew impatient for an update.zip. I didnt want to flash anything through ODIN, so i figured would use Kies.
Kies will see your phone as already updated. At the top of the app if you click tools then "firmware and initialization" Kies will override whatever is on your phone and update to mI5. This will take about 30 min but much quicker then trying to download the entire stock firmware from hotfile.
Once your phone is up go ahead and go to to settings on you phone and system update. Update will run and restart your phone. You are now on the latest firmware mj4.
Reroot and reinstall SD card. You are now rooted on latest update.
Notes - I tried everything to try to trick system to thinking its not modded including unrooting. Nothing worked reasoning i resorted to flashing through Kies.

Ohh theres an update? Well I bought a 2nd note today - couldnt resist it was 500€ only (they usually go for about 550 here). And mine had some display issues... gonna sell the first one and keep second - screen is better. Anyway, I got to redo everything now and restore the "old one" to stock.
To restore stock safely I would always suggest using Kies and doing a forced firmware update like dallas described. I read that flashing the same firmware twice with odin can already trip knox. (at least if you were tempering with the system)
But note that this will most likely update the bootloader of your phone as well.
---
Now I got the old bootloader on my new and still branded n3 - can someone explain what the difference actually is to the new bootloader? I mean both don't allow SELinux permissive, and both can be rooted (at least with the "tool")?
On S4 etc I understand that new firmware version introduced knox, and that there was firmware out without knox, but if you upgraded once you couldnt go back. But there are no knox free firmwares for the n3 are there? (I mean stock ones)

Yea go ahead and do all your updates then root. I think the update may me just for Sprint N900p.
so there is still no way to get rid of "enforcing selinux" without tripping knox counter?
need this only to get my OTG cable to USB OBD working, seems SELinux is blocking serial usb communication :/
zroice said:
wait a minute - the 4 way reboot does work for you? Are you on Knox 0x0 still? And SELinux status enforcing? For me no "reboot" apps seem to work. They all just try to reboot (and SELinux denies it then most likely)

Sorry for the late reply. I was Knox 0x0, used Root De La Vega, installed xposed framework then grabbed wanam from the play store. Just had to enable it and it was all good.

In my experience Sprint devices don't typically get much love. I've considered building a rom for the G935P but I haven't touched that stuff since the LG G2 was a new phone, so I'm a wee bit behind on the curve. I'll check this out though.

You realize this zip contains the odin flashable files this zip is not a flashable zip you need to extract the files before using

Man I admire your work. With your help I have already created a method for Sprint SM-G935U QD2. I'm always willing to be a beta tester if you feel I'm worthy. I would like this thread but I reached my quota lol. I'm going to test this method out as well and post results.
I was on P rooted, wiped cache 3 times, factory wiped data, reboot to bootloader.
In AP i flashed U firmware [BP, AP, CL, CSC] and let it install and run setup. (If you think you're in a boot loop its probably not true because it takes 5-10 mins to reach any setup screen, so wait it out.)
LTE activated, restarted phone, and then i applied Gmail Account. Skip Samsung Account.
After reaching home screen I went to turn on developer options>OEM unlock>usb debugging. TURN OFF verify apps via usb and auto update system.
Turned off Software updates automatically, then clicked manual updates and registered device. Clicked again and let update search.
Auto-updated Security policy in Lock Screen & security. Make sure automatic isn't enabled.
Turn auto update in Google Play Store off.
Close All Recent Apps.
Power Off.
Power On into Download Mode.
Run ODIN Again and insert:
S7edge_Qualcomm.tar into AP. Start flash.
Once reaching home screen, immediately run Command prompt as administrator and redirect folder to:
Nougat_S7_UFitrm_Root_2_79
Type root.bat and then type enter. [Don't run root_with_tweaks.bat]
Device will reboot and don't press any key like it asks you until you reach home page, and device connects to PC by Auto-Run/Opening folder.
When Drive is listed in PC then press enter and SuperSU+Flashfire will install then do a long reboot. 5 mins.
Once at home screen, you will see it is Samsung as carrier. SMS/VOICE should work. MMS/DATA NO.
But we will fix it by going to:
Settings>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names
Delete Wholsales OTA apn by selecting, clicking top right menu, and delete.
Now the Global Roaming APN... select it.
Change the whole APN to:
Name:APN2 LTE Internet
APN:n.ispsn
MMSC:http://www.mms.sprintpcs.com
Multimedia message proxy
68.28.31.7
Multimedia message port:
80
MCC
310
MNC
000 // Do Not CHANGE!
APN type
default,supl,mms,dun,fota
APN Protocol
IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol
IPv4/IPv6
Bearer
LTE,
Top right menu>SAVE! Make sure APN2 LTE Internet is enabled and by the dot being blue. LTE should display icon and reset device to verify it stuck.
Flash LTE Icon FIx with FlashFire which is in App Drawer.
Nougat_S7_Edge_EngBoot.tar.md5 works as well.

They are md5 tar files if they are bad they will fail check by Odin. I'm not sure why you are trying to extract them but 7zip will extract them
Im kinda seeing why there is no development in Sprint forum. Can't get anybody to try anything. The status is the SprintTest rom boots a custom rom with stock boot.img which means this could work just like Verizon does with working samsung pay etc I just need to get data working. I only have one person willing to try stuff. If there is no interest in this rom I will probably close the thread. Im uploading a new Ufirm and a new SprintTest rom but like I said If no interest then I will go back to my world and close the thread
Here is the SprintTest3 Rom Need Testers for this

Also updated Ufirm in OP to V8 It needs tested. There will be no more updates until there is some interest in this method.

I am currently on your method [slightly twisted] with 4G enabled. Data but no voice/sms...working on it.
I chose S8 all the way which was probably a mistake.
The installer is quite intriguing.
Remove about everything debloat.
But SuperSU is working fine. Going to start over but it definitely holds a root+data.
Anyways ill keep you posted and Good Job. Thanks.

I will change CSC code to XAS this should allow editing of APNs. I will reupload
The whole point of this rom is not to root the rom If the rom booted it means you have a custom rom running with stock boot.img which should not be possible. Its like the Verizon version if your not rooted you can still use samsung pay snapchat etc and any other safetynet checking apps

Of course, I started over because i was tweaking stuff and my SuperSu got disabled. I'm having a hard time repeating it but ill manage it. Its pissing me off because I've been trying different ways to gain sms/voice but my SuperSu broke and binary needed updating which caused any service to be canceled. This left me with no bars and the do not disturb icon for signal. Because some of the steps don't work like they do for Verizon, a lot of of your files needed to be switched around and flashed multiple times. I had to improvise. but once i secure this process... probably today, I'll type it up if you'd like, or head on to your next plan.
