Yes, you will have to revert back to Official Gingerbread Stock Rom before upgrading to Jelly Bean. You will be automatically unrooted after flashing Stock Rom. :good::good::good:

Why don't you better keep backup of apks?
use this app to backup apks
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.appbackup&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm1vYmkuaW5mb2xpZmUuYXBwYmFja3VwIl0.
After backup don't forget to move backup to external sd.
Now you can Flash Stock Rom and root again.
After Flashing Stock Rom wipe data / factory reset and then root.

When i hear like this , im become not too excited to wait for jb lol . maybe just Gingerbread . but when it release i will flash.

Dude.. use titanium backup to backing up all your apps.. like i did.. so after u upgade to jelly bean, just root your phone again and install the titanium backup again.. here is my instruction..
1) install titanium backup
2) backup your apps
3) copy 'Titanium Backup' folder locate on '/sdcard' to '/sdcard/external_sd/'
4) flash stock rom
5) do a firmware upgrade (when official jelly bean update is available, for me im using cm10.1 by TheWhisp)
5) root back your device if it is official upgrade (cm10.1 is pre rooted rom)
6) install back titanium backup
7) copy back 'Titanium Backup' from external sd to '/sdcard'
8) open titanium backup apps, and point to menu->batch action->restore missing apps
9) run the restore
10) all your apps now can be use in your new jelly bean update..

Yes they are. But unfortunately samsung DID NOT release a jelly bean update for this device after announcing that they will.

LOL why bump a 9 month old thread? We were eagerly expecting official jb back then, not even the most optimistic ones will expect it now.

depends what you restore back to.
2.3.3 is the latest
Can't you just copy that 2.3.3 stock ROM zip file to SNS root and run through recovery?
Why would you go to 2.3.3 by choice? I'm dreading the day that it says i have an update.

(you can read about it here http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=44db6d8e31129d4c&hl=en&start=200)
i installed cm7 and thinking it will be helpfull, the freezing is the same.
when go back to the original rom i could get the google rom update to fix the problem
[Q] downgrade
can i downgrade to 2.3.2 using a nandroid
yes you can
just download the version that you want, copy it to the usb, reboot to CWR, and select restore, wipe data, wipe cache, wike kalvik, reboot, you're done, enjoy
I was the praud owner of a nexus s root. i upgrate to 2.3.3 and im keep root, but cant do anything because clockwork recovery dosent work, neither the superuser, etc.... I just whant to go back to 2.3.2
fastboot boot etc etc

restore from backup

Ok so imnot really enjoying my experience of rooting so far and want to go back.
As soon as I rooted I made a backup using ROM manager then flashed to LBC Mod. If I want to go back to that backup do I need to go back to my original ROM or can I just restore from that backup from the new ROM I flashed?
Hmm I have ask same type of thread and waiting for repy :/

1) If I understand correctly you got S-off
2) then root
3) Then used Rom manager to perform a backup.
4) then you flashed LBC ROm
you know want to return to step 3) ?
You can either use ROM manager to restore the device to your previous backup or you could boot into recovery (CWM) and again use the restore option to restore your backup that you took earlier.

Yes it will.
Although, may I ask what you were not liking about the rooting experience and the LBC ROM?

what do you mean by update normally, android market or ota updates?
I'd personally avoid ota updates after getting soff and root.
And again can I ask what it was about the custom experience, that you didn't like?

I don't think there should be any problem doing an OTA update if you're on stock with root but you may loose root.
Well I bought this phone 2 monts ago and the it was in firmware version v10g_00 which is te latest till now.. so I have no expirience in updating, pluging in to comp and update it an so on...
so sorry if I looked so newbie
Anyway, yes it is about the ota update... where you choose the update notification and then update it via computer
and my question is can a backuped phone updates again like ... lets say updating it to gingerbread (that's what I'm facing)
Sorry for the interruption

I've heard that works in theory, but not often in practice. I would suggest checking out Vincom's stickies atop the Skyrocket Dev forum. This one has a link to a CWM flashable stock ICS rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785999
That is your safest route to stock ICS and it will save to so much hassle not having to deal with KIES. But if your determined, the second sticky has all the instructions you need to return to stock and update to ICS through KIES.

1. If u go back to stock yes u will lose root and cwm.
2. Ur cwm backup will still be on ur sd card.
3. Why update to official ics? It has alot of bloat that slows ur phone down.
4. After goin back to stock u can reroot and flash cwm recovery via odin then flash cm9 again then restore ur backup.

Did you have the all apps before you created the backup?
Go to recovery mode and wipe everything(data, system, cache, dalvik cache)
Then restore again I think it will work
If this method not work then download stock rom from the link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24150530
And flash it
Hit thanks if helped

This worked for me. Make sure you make a backup of those files on your PC before you do this.
you might also want to make another nandroid backup and do it to that one first.
