Changing the Hardware Revision and software revision strings ? is it possible ? - Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S III Developer Discussion

Hi All,
I would like to change the SW Revision and HW Revision to my own strings, is that possible ? where does the galaxy (Original ROM ) saves this data and print it to the screen when you type *#12580369# (SW & HW Info)
i just want it to display different values that would match other applications that verify this to do other stuff...
(I know that the device won't actually change by that)
thanks

What phone I have ?

I've got the phone from the picture and question is it - "what is his name"
On phone I see : "T-Mobile SDA"
In ActiveSync I see : "T-mobile SDA II"
In images.google.com I see: qtek8200/T-mobile SDA Music
In some other forums I see : HTC Hurricane/SPV C550/qtek 8100
And last question, Can I unlock it with this tutorial -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475286
Looks like the Hurricane ??

There are also some posts in the Hurricane forum that reference it as "SDA II" but I've never seen a phone like yours but I'm 95% sure. Check some threads there and maybe ask someone there to be sure. Just link them to your post here.
Edit: I see your dilemma. The "SDA" was the HTC Tornado while the "SDA II" was the HTC Hurricane. The fact that Active Sync is reporting SDA II leads me to believe that is the hardware you have the Hurricane. Go into your phone settings and go to System Info and check the spec there. Compare them here
Hurricane http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=675&c=dopod_566___586_htc_hurricane
Tornado http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=454&c=t-mobile_sda_us_htc_tornado_tempo
The only differences I see are that the Hurricane has an upgraded processor an additional radio band. Check Settings>System>About and see which processor you have.
My processor :ARM OMAP 750

According to this, it looks like it is indeed a Hurricane. I don't know much about flashing HTC devices, so I would go to that forum, read a bunch, find a rom your interested in, and make sure it's for your device.
Thanks

Question about LG KP500 (Cookie)-flashing to Windows Mobile 6.x

Hello my friends i have a little, hopefully simple question and i dont know how to answer it^^
Why i cant flash the mobile phone LG KP500, called 'Cookie' to Windows Mobile 6.x?
Is there no way to flash a different rom to this device?
i dont know much about the processor architecture of the "Cookie" but in my opinion it's a touchscreen-enabled phone like for excample the Samsung Omnia i900..
might anybody feels able to explain me whats the different between this two devices "Cookie" and for excample the "Omnia" and why it's not able to flash it.
thanks in advance
redplate
i guess because the roms are device specific. You cant just flash a rom for a diamond on a kaiser either. Maybe with some luck you can flash android in the future when lg throws some android phones on the market.
you should have invested a bit more money and get yourself the ks20 from lg. This has winmo 6.x installed (and wlan and gps)...
You can't actually flash it as LG in most of its new devices uses the "S-Class" (as its called), interface-software,limitating the customer to do anything with it.
Can u type using ur keypad, the following
1809*#500#
and tell me on ur SW and HW version menu, what's its actually SW and HW version?
You can flash a Windows Mobile device with a Windows Mobile ROM or Android.
You cannot flash a Windows Mobile ROM to just any LG or other phones which run on their own OS. Like iphone OS ROM cannot be flashed to WinMo devices.
hey thanks for all ur replys.. very interessting btw i've found something about iphone running windows mobile ^^
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On9nPh5aE-M
so maybe someday someone wants to port win mobile to cookie^^

i've got the following info:
ikp500xx-00-v10e-xxx-xxx-jun-22-2009

Sorry for my late reply mate. Yeah, i mixed it up a bit with * # signs But as far as i saw, u found ur way . Notice that this code is only for internal purposes testing and so on, so consider that u have full acess to ur phone now and u can even hard/soft reset ur device, through the appropriate menu.
Anyway, yeah 10e is the SW version, but still, i think there are another two SW updates available already online, so i sugeest u, to install LG Pc Suite that was included in the box and seach for those and flash ur device accordingly
hi again,
at first np mate.. it's ok .. i know that hehe. i have to say "sry for my late reply"^^
and full access sounds always good^^ btw thank you very much for the code!
to the phone: im using the newest version 10z now. could you tell me plz for what exactly do you need the SW and HW version?
maybe there's another possibility to get windows mobile flashed on a LG Cookie?
thanks and greetz

Any news about flashing WM onto the cookie? I would like to change the operating system of my wife's mobile phone if possible.

[Q] strange question

I have a device (mobile phone) with no company brand name, the operating system in Android.(chinese mobile phone)

ROMs are pretty device-specific, so if you only find a ROM for your device, then you can flash, otherwise stay away as it can easily brick your device.
Many Chinese forums do custom ROM development works like here in XDA, you may have to ensure which is your device first of all, and then search about it in Google.
As with your questions:
1 - Yes, have to determine which is your chipset (Can get all infos by using Quadrant Benchmark app)
2 - Install the ROM if you only find anything for your device.
Well, it would help if you could post some pictures of the device. Maybe someone will know what it is.
But anyway, basically you have to find out what chipset it has (CPU architecture, SoC etc.) and compare it to some branded devices so that you know what kind of ROMs and kernels you should be looking for.
Another option is to pull out any information about the currently istalled ROM and kernel and search a little to find out for what devices those are.
Good luck btw

I highly doubt because the hardware mentioned over there is pretty much unknown or I've not heard at least. If it was Qualcomm it starts with MSMxxx , Mediatek starts with MTxxx, Rockchip with RKxxx so I'm clueless.
The nearest bet you could do is, somehow find the device Model name and search for it, maybe some Chinese forums does development of that device, but don't give much hope.

[Q] Samsung S6 firmware?

Hi Everyone
Please bare with me as this is my first post on the site as it was recommended to me. Also bare with me even more as I don't know much about Android firmware.
Ill try to give you guys as much information as possible, I purchased a Samsung S6, or what I believed to be an S6. Im not so sure!
Its showing as running Android 5.0 but it seems to be lacking functions that makes me believe its not a legit phone. Could I try and put a different version of android on it to see if it will run? As I have lost lots of money
Heres what it says in the about settings to help you decide if I can do anything..
Android Version 5.0
Model Number SM-G920F
Baseband Version G920FXXU1AOBN
Kernel Version 3.10.54 [email protected] #1
Build Number LRX22G.G920FXXU1AOBN
Custom Built Version SEPG_SM_G920F_5.0.2_0008
Hope this makes sense to you guys
Is there anything I can do to salvage the phone?
Thanks very much
Ryan

Hi There,
First of all, many thanks for your reply
Its just little things that make me think its not genuine, eg when I go to Settings > user manual it takes me to a Chinese webpage under downloadcenter.samsung.com
Also I tried to do wireless update, it downloads the file but then says package unzipping, do not interrupt then goes onto say Warning your system was damaged, wireless update is disabled.
The serial number under settings cannot be true! haha
I also downloaded a pdf file and it wont open, just says cannot open file.
The default search engine is yahoo on browser?
Hope this helps any ideas
Thanks
What I would do is contact Samsung and ask about it. If you were to find the IMEI, Samsung could tell you everything about the device just by using that (I believe)

you can try that, but i am not so sure about it, because it may damage your phone....you can try this at your own risk...
You can pop the IMEI into this free checker, it'll tell you all about it, feel free to post the output but NOT your IMEI here if you want a second opinion. https://swappa.com/esn
You can get the IMEI by dialing *#06# on the dialer
It's saying there's no such imei

Try updating the mcu, your version is old.
I am editing my questions, sorry about that:
*i see the newest version of mcus for MX is V.373
Can i upgrade my MCU to latest version, without upgrading my Android?
can i return back to the old mcu if there is a problem?

OK. I upgraded my mcu to latest one 3.73. Problem still arrives. Tried 3.30sp, nothing changed. I think it is not related with mcu files.
I have another question, how do i check if my device has DSP controller.
One last thing, how can i remove my HU. I cannot pull it out from my car
