OIS - Nokia Lumia 820

Hi there!
Is OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer) a physical part of the Lumia 920? If not, can it port for the 820? Or is there no software image stabilizer for the video?

Replacing the camera of the Moto X 2014 with the camera of the Nexus 6

hello XDA-members,
i was searching the XDA-threads and of course google but wasn't able to find an answer to my question:
Is it possible to replace the original camera of the Moto X 2014 with the camere of the Nexus 6?
Both seem to be the same size and the flex cable of both cams look identical to me.
Specs of the Moto X 2014 camera:
- 13MP Sony IMX135 1/3.06-inch CMOS sensor, 4128 x 3096 pixels, autofocus,
- F2.25 aperture
- 31mm equivalent focal length
- Dual-LED (ring) flash
- ISO 50 - 1000
- Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR
- 4K-video
- 2MP front camera (1080p)
Specs of the Nexus 6 camera:
13 MPSony IMX214 (Stacked CMOS; Exmor RS), 4128 x 3096 pixels, autofocus, optical image stabilization,
- F/2.0 aperture
- Dual-LED (ring) flash,
- Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR
- 4K video -> [email protected], optical stabilization,
- 2MP front camera (1080p)
so in conclusion: would be nice to have a little camera upgrade to get optical stabilization etc. on our Moto X 2014 with this little trick...
here are the links to Etradesupply, where you can get a look how the cameras look like in detail:
Nexus 6 : http://www.etradesupply.com/motorola-nexus-6-rear-facing-camera.html
Moto X 2014: http://www.etradesupply.com/motorola-moto-x-xt1092-xt1095-xt1096-xt1097-rear-facing-camera.html
If sombody has already made some experience in replacing / changing the cameras, would it be nice if he/she would share his/her experience..
All opinions are welcome!
If they use the same connection, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Only issue I could foresee is a potential driver issue. Are the dimensions the same to fit in the phone casing?

Quite different connectors.
Even if they was the same the drivers for sure will be very different, but the main problem is at the connector.
My job for living is to repair mobile devices and i ve seen both cameras and they are far from be the same.
The only thing that is the same is the main placeholder that meke them look the same.
I have a moto x2 and i think the same way when i first bought it but i end up on the wall when digg a little ?
Sad to hear, but not surprising. Thanks for your input.

Which resolution is better for Images? 20MP or 12MP

Hi All,
I am bit confused about the the default image resolution in camera of MATE 9.
Need your experience and review which one will be better? 20MP or 12 MP?

Oneplus6 cam

Does anyone know the cam specs of Oneplus 6?

according to tech-radar, the specs of the cameras are as follows:
A 20MP and 16MP dual-lens rear camera
A 20MP front-facing camera
Note that these are just rumors at this stage, but here's the source where I got it from if there's anything else you want to know:
https://www.techradar.com/news/oneplus-6-rumors
Hope this helps.
Final Camera specs.
In the rear, we find a dual camera combo consisting of 20 and 16MP snappers whereas the selfie camera is listed as being a 16MP one. In terms of size and dimensions, the OnePlus 6 will likely measure up at 155.7×75.35×7.75mm and tip the scales at 177gr. Android 8.1 will be running the show; we expected nothing less.
I wonder if it will have the OIS, as this is crucial for me when considering this device.

secondary camera

guys, dial *#*#1597#*#* and switch to the second camera...click the photo, check the resolution.. isn't it 2592x1940 (5mp) ... it's strange because the secondary camera is of 20mp and I am getting 5mp.
Mine is 3456x4608
Edit: sorry, I did not switch to the second camera, how do I do that?

switch to lens BACK(2). double tap to switch the camera.
Ok, did that and indeed it's 2592x1940

okay... isn't the secondary camera of 20mp..why does it click photos in 5mp???oneplus ?
Yep the same. Pretty weird. But the image doesn't look like 5 MP though
Wow this is some major scoop! You're indeed right, also to support your findings, the OP6 brother, the OPPO R15, has the same primary 16MP IMX519 sensor and a 5MP secondary sensors only for depth informations.
This could be a camera-gate beginning for OP! It needs deeper investigation

that can't be a co-incidence. i am gonna post about this in oneplus forum. let everyone know about this.
For me the primary camera is at 15.9MP and the portrait camera is at 14.2MP.
Correction: The photos made with primary camera are at 15.9 and the portrait mode ones are at 14.2MP.

you mean portrait photos??the resolution is 15.9 mp for portrait photos too.
The portrait photo is also made with the primary camera, helped by the secondary camera.
If I cover the secondary camera I see a message on screen and bokeh effect is gone.
@aneesh12 Yes, I meant the photos.

yeah... that's how all the process works. but you said the portrait photos are 14.2mp for you which is not the same for me...i am getting 15.9mp photos. i am sorry if i got you wrong again
Another thing, the pictures taken with the secondary camera capture so much more light when shooting in really (really) dark places. Try it and let me know.
I think maybe it's the same secondary sensor used in the OP5T, the Sony IMX 376k, which is a 20MP sensor that via software does a pixel interpolation to "create" bigger pixels and capture more light.
However it's a cheap move to use this sensor only for depth informations

I'll try the second camera on op5t nd will see the resolution.
guys, what's the use of second camera anyways??? I've covered the second lens, still the photos came out as same as when the lens wasn't covered.
@aneesh12
For the depth of field effect/bokeh, portrait photos.

they could have gone for 5mp depth sensing camera then. why to waste 20mp for that. oneplus 5's camera was very well implemented. that optical zoom was actually useful and handy.

You have to double tap to change camera then you will see camera(2) instead of camera(0)

that is exactly what i said in the 3rd post. you didn't get what i said.
Could it be due to a software config, like using pixel binning to increase sensitivity in the dark?

Camera sensor vendors

Well it's all known that the back camera of Nokia 8.1 is using Sony 363 sensor but what about the other like depth sensing and front camera there is no mention of the sensor vendors and their tech specs like sensor size ,as per the below link it is also found that Samsung sensors are being used in back cameras too with same specs but in which models it is not sure
https://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/74cc4ccf
So request if XDA or someone can get into the technical specs of all the sensors with their respective vendors and sensors sizes and share the information
Thanks
I want to know too... It's 20MP, but the photo result is so bad...
Kinda missing my old Oppo N3, which I can tap to focus for front and back with the rotating camera.
What I think about the front camera is of 5MP which manipulates as 20MP. As if you use Gcam port for Nokia 8.1 it shows front camera as 5MP.

Gcam takes 5Mpix photos with any 5+ Mpix camera. Photos taken with stock camera app are 20 Mpix, and once again, number of megapixels does not represent the quality of photo, just the size.

But my old Oppo N3 has 16MP for both front and back cameras in gcam (kinda old version though).

Well I am pretty much not interested in gcam junk ports,it's not officially meant to be used on other devices other pixel so it has no whatsoever value in my view on any device ,people can shout as much as they want, second the sensor does the binning from original Nokia cam app it does not and should not have any access to the algorithms used by Nokia.this topic is related to the sensor manafacturers as there is lot of misinformation or information floating around as always of Nokia cameras and requested the XDA team to get into the crux of it ,anyway I am sure the front camera module uses 1/3.1 Samsung sensor and the depth one too on the rear the main 12mp is imx363 as confirmed by Nokia care on the email

It's not the GCam limitations but the sensor and camera app of Nokia 8.1. You can install a hardware info app from play store and it will tell the Nokia 8.1 front cam as 5MP. And in true sense it is a 5MP sensor which uses pixel bining to produce 20MP images. But the picture quality is not up to the mark even after pixel bining.
I installed hw info app,it shows 20.1mp sensor.

Nope, going from 5mp to 20mp would be a upscaling using something like bilinear interpolation.
Pixel binning is combining pixels to produce a lower resolution but with an increased low light performance, in the case of the Nokia 8.1 it is combining 4 pixels hence the reduction to 5mp from 20.
Gcam is not designed for the anything other than Google products, it doesn't have a clue what is it supposed to be doing on the Nokia 8.1, it just doesn't contain the software necessary to use the front sensor correctly.

Thanks mate for a conclusive reply. I do agree with you that it may be the interpolation in Nokia 8.1 front camera. As I am no longer using Nokia 8.1 so I can't comment on it any further.
Gcam by itself doesn't limit the supported resolutions to tight values. It's the camera stack implementation of most qcom and non-qcom phones that exposes only the binned raw camera streams from quad bayer sensor.
