I'm really sick and tired of waiting for JB update for this device. Only reason I bought it is because we were promised JB update.... anyone knows when the update will be ?

Samsung answered to my phone there are no plans for upgrading I8160 and I9070 to ICS Or Jelly Bean. Gingerbread is the mainstream Android for them. All internet info regarding update are rumors.
They even said that they know about ICS info on marketing videos of I8160. All new mainstream phones will be released with JB said consultant. I asked which ones and he said I8190.

It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Samsung offered to push out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to this device early next year, reports say.
Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus: The Korean tech maker used to produce ‘plus’ versions for its hit products. The Ace of 2011 January has also received a Plus version apart from the second upgrade. The Galaxy Ace Plus mounts an advanced 1GHz Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM and 3GB of internal storage. It has an Adreno 200 GPU and a 5MP rear camera. It also runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Jelly Bean is expected to add a completely new experience for Galaxy Ace Plus.
Samsung Galaxy S Advance: Needless to say, S Advance is one of highly successful budget Android phones from Samsung. The 4-inch handset was released in April 2012 with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Owners of S Advance have been long waiting for Jelly Bean update. Samsung earlier offered to push out Jelly Bean to the handset leapfrogging the ICS. Anyway, it is yet to get the firmware update. It seems that it will now come to the phone early next year.
Conclusion
Apart from these fives handsets, we have too many other models from Samsung to get the software update. They include popular products such as Galaxy Music, Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy Chat, Galaxy Beam, Galaxy Mini 2, Galaxy S Duos and more. Its just an article, but i am sure that Samsung will update Ace 2 and S Advance to JB. They will upgrade the OS of any phone at least once... The phone was sold with GB (XXLD8 April 2012) and until now there was a "major" maintenance GB update (XXLK6 November 2012), and i think that the company wont focus on updating GB more than that. So Samsung will start (or already has started) making Jelly Bean. That's my opinion. I believe that SGA2 will be upgraded to JB within Q1 of 2013 (January - March).

My current firmware is DXLK2, you said that there was "major" update on the XXLK6.
As your Ace2 latest ROM based on XXLK6 November 2012, can I use XXLK6 firmware in Indonesia? So I can install latest ROM v4.

I also have dxlk2 based from philippines xte firmware, and i flashed LK6 firmware based UK rom and it works smooth and fine... No issues ive noticed so far...

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note Android Jelly Bean update soon (21/12/12)
This is a wait that seems to end never. And worried are people who have been awaiting its arrival for the last many months. So far their wait has gone in vain as so far there is no trace of not just the latest Android 4.2, but also its previous Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. This is a depressing thought for millions and millions of Android fans who bought very expensive gadgets –best at the time of their launch –are feeling left out.
The two most important handsets awaiting the introduction of Android Jelly bean 4.1 are the smart-phones that are still very competitive in the market, but look a bit old merely due to non-availability of latest Android firmware. In my view Samsung believes that if thee handsets are given latest Android updates, no one is going to buy their very expensive new handsets that shine more due to latest updates.
By the way when talking of specifications improvement there is not much different between a Galaxy Note original and Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S2. The difference is more in size than in substance and a bit here and there improvements.
Android Jelly Bean comes with many major features. This includes Project Butter. Project Butter is a special program from Google to increase the performance of Jelly Bean. The project is named so because it can ensure that your Android handsets perform much faster and smoothly like butter, says Google. As per CNET, the new Android version utilizes VSync and Triple Buffering to increase the touch responsiveness. Engadget says that Project Butter can hum the entire system at 60 frames per seconds (fps). Well, the feature will run Jelly Bean devices smoother and faster than its predecessor. Google showcased the difference between JB and ICS through a demo at the event.
Another great feature is smarter keypad. You will get a smarter keyboard with the Jelly Bean devices, Google claims. The innovative keyboard feature is able to predict your next word before you start typing. TechCrunch notes that the company has implemented the voice transcription software inside the handset, not the network connection. That is, unlike Apple’s Siri, the smart voice transcription feature of Jelly Bean devices can guide even if internet connection is not available. Google Now is Google’s reply to Apple’s Siri voice assistant application. Similar to Siri, Google Now will respond to users’ queries in human voice. Amazingly, Google Now will guide you to pick the best restaurant, set reminder for meeting and other appointments and many other exciting features. Moreover, like Siri, Google Now will guide you through the exact path to drive in or walk on in a city.
One more important feature is Android Beam. Google has added a new Android Beam feature to Jelly Bean. The feature works utilizing the software’s compatibility to (NFC) Near Field Communication. Microsoft has brought the NFC-based communication feature on its Windows Phone 8. With Android Beam, you can hold NFC capable handsets to share digital content like photos, video and others quickly. Android 4.1 takes phone notifications to an all new level. Android’s slide down notification bar has always been notable. And with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, we are to have a completely new experience with the notifications feature. TechCrunch says that users will be able to make calls and send texts right from the notification widget. You can also access all new Gmail messages from the notification tab. That is, the process to respond to missed calls and emails is quite simple on a handset with the Jelly Bean. Social networking sites like Foursquare and Google Plus publish the notifications, thus you can respond to them from these sites.
Several reports suggest that Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note owners are setto receive the new Jelly Bean 4.1.2 update in January 2013. Leaks have clearly revealed Samsung’s plan to push out the fresh version of Android to the handsets. Users of these two former market hit phones have been long waiting for Jelly Bean update. Now it is time for the phones to get the fresh software. samsug is bull**** :X they're only porting these apps to hdpidevices and are gonna jsut opy and paste them in system app and nameit a new firmware ! :| but what ever it is at least we're geting SUMTHING right ? we used to not get anything in the last year ! they had almost forgotten us ! they must hav seen the outrage we created by requesting aall those sources and the petitions we created !

The last week of March is here and we want to start this week with some good information! Today, SamMobile received some exclusive information regarding Android updates for the Galaxy Tab. Samsung wants to update the Galaxy Tab 2 to Android 4.1.2 and stop with Android 4.2.2! Samsung is even trying the same with the first generation of the Samsung Galaxy Tab (GT-P7300 / GT-P7500). According to our trusted insider, Samsung is busy testing how Jelly Bean updates work on the Nvidia Tegra 2 T20 processor*. He pointed out that these tests mean nothing for now. We will keep you folks up to date about the first generation of Galaxy tablets by Samsung.
The Galaxy Tab 2 by Samsung will receive Android 4.1.2 and end with Android 4.2.2. Samsung will no longer support the Galaxy Tab 2 after the Android 4.2.2 update. The updates must be done before the end of September. The issue with Samsung’s Exynos processor has been resolved and Samsung has, once again, started to test Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmwares for the Galaxy Tab 7.7 (GT-P6800) and Galaxy Tab Plus (GT-P6200).
Everything sounds a bit far away but Samsung really wants to update all tablets in Q2 and Q3 to Android 4.1.2 or maybe directly to Android 4.2.2.
The insider reconfirmed. All smartphones and tablets based on a dual-core processor will end on Android 4.2.2.
* If the processor could handle the update and the test firmwares are OK.
We agree with the most of the users here on SamMobile about blaming Samsung because of the delay in updates but this sounds really good. Samsung will be the only brand with good reputation of Android updates. Remember, most tablets are already 2 years old and even Google only provides support for its device till 18 months.

Here's what we know about Android 5.0 so far
Google's showing no signs of slowing its pace of Android development, with Android 4.0 appearing on the Galaxy Nexus late in 2011, followed in July of 2012 by the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean release that arrived powering the super Nexus 7.
But, forward-looking, update-obsessed people that we are, we can't help but imagine how Google's going to maintain the pace of innovation in its next version of its mobile OS, Android 5.0.
All we know so far is that Google's working away on the K release of Android, which it's developing under the dessert-related codename of Key Lime Pie. Regarding the version number, it's likely that the Key Lime Pie moniker will be given to Android 5.0. We thought we might find out on 29 October 2012 but as yet there is no official word from Google.
Android 5.0 release date
Google has announced that its next developer conference - Google IO - will take place from May 15 to May 17 2013, a month earlier than 2012's June dates. Given that Google announced Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at 2012's IO conference, it's not unreasonable to expect to see Android 5.0 at this year's event.
On 31 January, a Google IO showing of Android 5.0 looked more likely when screengrabs of a Qualcomm roadmap were leaked, showing Android 5.0 as breaking cover between April and June 2013.
On 24 April 2013, we read that Key Lime Pie may not make its debut at Google IO after all. Apparently, "trusty internal sources" told a site called Gadgetronica (a site we hadn't previously heard of) that Google has decided to delay Android 5.0 for two to four months to give hardware makers the chance to properly roll out Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
We'd take this rumour with a pinch of salt and add another pinch of salt for good measure, as even if Google decides not to ship the finished build of Android 5.0 until later in the year, that doesn't preclude the company from talking up the new OS at what is, after all, a developer-focused conference.
However, the notion of Key Lime Pie being off the menu at Google IO raised itself again on 26 April when Android 4.3 surfaced in server logs over at Android Police. Those log entries supposedly came from Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 devices running an updated version of Jelly Bean - Android 4.3 - and apparently the IP addresses of those devices trace back to Google HQ. So might that point to a delayed Android 5.0 arrival?
Android 5.0 phones
Rumours of a new Nexus handset started trickling in during the third quarter of 2012, as we reported on 1 October 2012. There was speculation that this phone would be sporting Key Lime Pie, but sources who spoke to AndroidAndMe correctly claimed that the handset, which turned out to be the Google Nexus 4 would be running Android Jelly Bean.
While the Nexus 4 didn't appear with a helping of Key Lime Pie, speculation that we reported on 21 January 2013 suggests that the Motorola X Phone is the Android 5.0-toting handset that will be revealed at Google IO. According to a post on the DroidForums website, the phone will also feature a virtually bezel-free, edge-to-edge, 5-inch display.
So now as we wait on official news of the Android 5.0 release date and features, we can start to pull together the Key Lime Pie rumours from around the web, with the first sighting of Android 5.0 on a benchmarking website, apparently running on a Sony smartphone. There has previously been speculation that Sony is in line to produce the next Nexus phone, which may lend some credence to this rumour.
The same leaked Qualcomm documents cited above also made mention of a two new Snapdragon devices, one of which will be, unsurprisingly, a new Nexus phone.
That Nexus phone is most likely the Google Nexus 5, though we'd be surprised to see it break cover at Google IO, given that the Nexus 4 only went on sale at the end of 2012.
On Monday 18 March, supposed images of the Nexus 5 surfaced, with the handset apparently being manufactured by LG. If the accompanying specs, leaked along with the photo by the anonymous source, are true, then the Nexus 5 will feature a 5.2-inch, 1920 x 1080 OLED display, 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 3GB of RAM.
While a sighting of the Nexus 5 at Google IO is unlikely, rumours that we wrote up on 19 April reckon that there will be an Android 5.0-powered Nexus 4 launched at the event. Apparently, the revised handset will also feature 4G capability and improved storage of 32GB.
Android 5.0 tablets
The original Nexus 7 tablet was unveiled at Google IO 2012, so it's possible that we'll see a refreshed Nexus 7 2 at Google IO 2013. The speculation is that Google will team up with Asus for this, as it did with the original Nexus 7. We expect an upgraded display on the new Nexus 7 tablet, while Digitimes is reporting that the 2nd generation Nexus 7 will have 3G service and and range in price from $149 to $199.
Samsung's Android 5.0 upgrades
Although Samsung is yet to officially confirm its Android 5.0 schedule, a SamMobile source is claiming to know which phones and tablets will be getting the Key Lime Pie upgrade. According to the source, the devices set to receive the upgrade are the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Note 8.0 and Galaxy Note 10.1.
Android 5.0 features
For 24 hours, it seemed as though the first kinda, sorta confirmed feature for Android 5.0 was a Google Now widget, which briefly appeared in a screenshot on the company's support forum before being taken down. As it was so hurriedly pulled, many people assumed it was slated for the big five-o and accidentally revealed early.
As it happened, the following day, on 13 February 2013, the Google Now widget rolled out to Jelly Bean.
On 28 February 2013, we learned from Android Central that Google is working with the Linux 3.8 kernel, which gives rise to the notion that this kernel might make it into Android 5. One improvement that the 3.8 kernel brings is lowered RAM usage, which would mean a snappier phone with better multitasking.
Android Geeks has reported that Google Babble will debut on Key Lime Pie. Babble is, apparently, Google's in-development cross-platform service and app with the aim of unifying its various chat services which include Talk, Hangout, Voice, Messenger, Chat for Google Drive and Chat on Google+.
Android Geeks' source also said that Google Babble will be supported by devices running Android 2.3 and above, which would make sense given that Google will want as many people as possible on the platform.
A screenshot that we were sent from a Google employee on 8 April confirms that not only is this unified chat service on the way, but that it is now called Google Babel not Babble. Babel will come with a bunch of new emoticons and Google+ built-in so you can jump from Babel chat to hangout. A leaked Google memo on 10 April provided a few more juicy details including talk of a new UI and synced conversations between mobile and desktop.
Following an 18 April tear-down of the Google Glass app MyGlass by Android Police, it now looks as though there may be an iOS Games Center-like service coming to Android 5.0.
Android Police found references in the code to functionality that doesn't exist in Glass, which suggests that developers accidentally shipped the full suite of Google Play Services with the Android application package.
The files in the package contained references to real-time and turn-based multiplayer, in-game chat, achievements, leaderboards, invitations and game lobbies.
So it seems that Google Games (or whatever it ends up being called) is real, and we may find out more about it - and whether it will ship with Key Lime Pie - during the Google I/O conference. As Android Police points out "It being including in a shipping product suggests that it's finished and freely floating around Google HQ."
Android 5.0 interface
While this is pure speculation, we're wondering whether Android 5.0 might bring with it a brighter interface, moving away from the Holo Dark theme that came with Android 4.0.
Google Now brought with it a clearer look with cleaner fonts, and screenshots of Google Play 4.0 show Google's app market taking on similar design cues. Is this a hint at a brighter, airier look for Key Lime Pie?

I've hear about the Nexus 5... No official release date but it supposedly to be later in 2013.... Nexus 5, Android 5!?!? Maybe Key Lime Pie will be released the same date of the Nexus5!

I am using a Samsung galaxy s duos that has ics out of the box. I am waiting for it to get updated to jb. even Samsung galaxy chat has been updated to jellybean which is having comparitively lower specs.Sony also updated its single core phone xperia j to jb?
so why there is no jellybean update in galaxy s duos?

Here is the official JB update list of Samsung (which is subject to sudden change, but it's quite unlikely they will add any more devices - they usually remove devices that have not already got an update): samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00050212&fm_seq=55187.
It's not only a question of device specs or performance; it's also a question of marketing relevance and development effort. The device manufacturers have to adapt the original os from google to their devices; and on top of that, they put their own software like Touchwiz, which has to be adapted to new Android versions, too. Then everything has to be adapted and thoroughly tested with the telcos. The whole process does not make sense from a economic point of view as soon as the sales of the device drop below a certain margin. Non-widespread devices will not get updates at all.

Samsung will Suffer Like Nokia if I was not wrong, Because other companies are updating their mobile phone OS very fast but Samsung is moving even slower than tortoise , If you see the update list of all phones only major Phone like S5,S4 S3 & Note 2&3 are getting updated but other phones are struck at 4.2.2 earlier Nokia also behaving like same they putting older OS in new phone for example Nokia c3 which is release in 2010 but OS is S40 which is nearly 5 years old. Just look at the Mote E Specs its beat Samsung s2 plus in all aspects expect in camera . Dear Samsung please change your attitude other wise ............

I checked Samsung updates for many device, usually there is no for example 4.0.1 or 4.1.1 or 4.2.1 updates they are 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 , ...
I wish final KitKat would be released soon then lots of Samsung devices will be updated.
