Asus VivoTab RT review - Microsoft Surface

Ars Technica

The good:
* Excellent build quality
* IPS display has vivid colors and viewing angles that pair well with Windows RT's colorful interface
* Windows RT and the core Windows apps perform very well
* Decent battery life when docked, though both the dock and tablet came in under Asus' estimates in our battery life testing
* GPS, NFC, and optional 3G/4G give it a leg up over the Surface
The bad:
* Keyboard dock's trackpad doesn't support new Windows 8 multitouch gestures
* The cramped keyboard and thickness and weight when docked remind us of netbooks, in a bad way
* Pricing may be too close to that of Intel Atom tablets running full Windows 8
* Lack of dual-band 802.11n
The ugly:
* Windows RT is limited to the Windows Store for most of its apps, and as of this writing the pickings are awfully slim.

Score: 6.7/10
Good Stuff
* Light, thin form factor
* Excellent battery life
* Above-average speaker
Bad Stuff
* Windows RT has some serious flaws
* Keyboard and trackpad are too small
* App ecosystem is basically non-existent

Those are RT devices, you can't install x86 Windows applications on them.

There is a Bluestacks for RT planned - Its on their website. But I wonder how well an emulator will work - If its fluid and doesn't lag then that will be awesome

Availability: the game is available here with a trial. There also is a desktop Windows version.
Compliance: I encountered no major compatibility problems with running the game on some of my test WM2003+ (the game isn’t compatible with OS’es prior to WM2003; it’s, of course, WM6-compliant) PDA’s: the HTC Wizard with the Bpepe / KTamas AKU3 ROM (overclocked to 240 MHz), the HTC Universal (running Helmi 1.1), the Dell Axim x51v with ROM version A12 and the WM2003 HP iPAQ h2210.
However, keep in mind that
albeit it runs in Landscape orientation, do NOT start the game in it unless you want to have a reversed and, therefore, useless D-pad. (And, yeah, Left-handed Landscape is even worse: then, not only the D-pad will be reversed, but also the touchscreen.)
on VGA devices (this was particularly a problem on the x51v; the Universal was still playable), the game is decidedly slower than on QVGA ones. That is, it’s highly possible you won’t like the game on VGA devices at all because of the slow scrolling / animation, which can’t be fixed at all.
Graphics: QVGA only; nothing to write home about. The same on the desktop Windows – it uses QVGA-resolution graphics there too, displayed in a VGA-sized window. (At least, it doesn’t have speed problems on the desktop – actually, it’s MUCH faster and pleasing on my 3.6 GHz P4 than on any of my above-listed QVGA Pocket PC’s.)
Music: pretty cool tracked music and, what is more, it’s played back in stereo.
Verdict: IMHO, it’s not as good as, say, BoneyBoy and it might be slow on some devices. Still, the trial might be worth giving a try.

Playing old Mattel LED games under Windows Mobile

Back in the late seventies or early eighties, you may have had a Light-emitting diode (LED)-based handheld game console. They were manufactured by Mattel and a complete list of them is available HERE. They were pretty simplistic but still great fun and are, today, very hard to find (they’re typically a collector’s item offered accordingly at high prices).
Should you want to play some of these games under Windows Mobile (or, for that matter, Palm OS or the desktop Windows (even Vista)), you will want to turn to Peter Hirschberg’s LEDhead, the faithful reimplementation of some of these games. While only part of the original LED games have been re-implemented (compare the list of the originally available games HERE and the implemented games HERE), you may still find the currently available games fun or, at least, nice to bring up memories of those ages.
Fortunately, the games run flawlessly on all Windows Mobile devices – even WM5 / WM6 ones. Some example screenshots of them running on VGA devices:

(Auto Race)
(Space Alert)
As in the desktop version, the main menu allows for selecting the game you’d like to play. You can also redefine the hardware buttons (unfortunately, the app doesn’t read all the buttons dynamically – that is, if your handheld has more than 4 buttons, it’ll still list only four)
Getting, using
Get the emulator HERE (alternate download HERE) . Unzip the file and transfer LEDhead.exe and LEDhead.dll to your handheld. Start the former; select the game to run in the left list and click Start Game in the upper right corner. You can also disable sounds (using the Mute checkbox) and assign controls to hardware buttons.
Note that it also has an SH3 and a MIPS version, should you have an old PPC2k handheld.

In-depth Review of New Android EKEN M009 & Zenithink C71

From the time Jobs released ipad, the portable pc tablets have been in furious battle, changes never stop, except the mainstay product ipad series, more other brands are bored with their identified products, like Motorola, Sumsung & Lenovo. According to market diversification, manufactures compete to develop all kinds of special-designed products, thus, tablets' strengths are dotted everywhere from designers' mind.
Here I'm willing to give a comprehensive review on two classical tablets.

Frankly speaking, compared with the former tablet, the latter is better equipped, possessed with stronger functionalities. By practical operation, we can install and play 3D games on Zenithink C71. Besides, not only can you process multi-tasks with your control panel, but high-definition videos are completely supported for broadcasting. All in all, the most value stuff relies on its interactive design of video communication.
To evaluate the two, the later one counts better performance, better reaction speed, better touch-sensitive, better software compatibility and smoother apps processing.
It's no doubt the user experience counts the most important point among all other specialties.
Shortly, the portable panel tablet has now developing from ARM11 to Cortex A8/A9; customers are more emphasized on the functionalities and user experience.

[Q] Gaming with buttons on Android

Okay, I said somewhere here that I'm checking out China phones. I know most of them get bad rep, but I think there are decent ones and I'm thinking, why not? I'm starting to afford stuff, and I'm thinking about gaming in Android. With some China phones being affordable but with good specs, maybe it's time to buy one even as a spare. I am currently looking at this:

Anyway, it looks good enough and affordable but I have some questions on choosing a possible gaming phone:
* Would this work with most games?
* Is it better to have this, or would it be better to buy something like a gamepad controller/add-on to Android phones, like this one which I saw from the Accessories thread here: http://dx.com/p/wamo-wireless-bluetooth-gamepad-for-android-ios-cell-phone-pc-black-222605.
* Do you have any other suggestions on anything that would involve being able to use dpads and buttons for gaming?
Anyone?

LINK CROSSOVER 15.5 alpha1
Produced by CodeWeavers, CrossOver is a commercial version of the more well-known Wine, the application that lets you run Windows programs on other operating systems such as Mac and Linux. commercial version means that additional technical support and an extremely simple configuration system to enable rapid installation for all users. The CrossOver operation is extremely simple and takes place thanks to a virtual desktop. With CrossOver will be even able to start video games on Steam. That said, it should not get excited too because the hardware of Chromebooks and Android tablets are certainly not at the height of the most intense games from a technical standpoint. Another important limitation of CrossOver is that it can only be used on Android devices that use an Intel processor, a big nut to crack since the Android tablet with this type of processors are not that common at the time.
I have test the app on Intel PC x86 with REMIX OS 6.0
Screenshot:
THANKS TO:
CodeWeavers
As you wrote the main problem is that only intel based tablets can handle this app
It would be great on Remix-OS for PC as most PC's use Intel Processor's.
