Google Play Crashing - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my Razr Maxx HD yesterday and restored with the posted firmware to try to fix it, but google play keeps crashing. Any one know how to fix it?

This is not a development question.

Have you tried clearing the google play app data?

[Q] Rom Finder off the Market?

Anyone having problems with the Rom Finder app? It's no longer on the Market and the version I have installed has stopped working. It appears to be the latest (2.4.4) but I'm still asked to update when I try to install a rom. Grrr.

Well, we don't have any roms for the Xoom. That could be issue #1.
No, he means roms like for emulators if I'm not mistaken. Which app are you using exactly? I know there are a few in the market. I use Rom Buddy.

Gotcha, i'm far to lazy to play games
Rom gripper? As I understand it, it was taken down because the dev said there were too many bug complaints and it will be up again when it's working

Does anyone know a app like this that is still working?

Firstly: Don't bump your own threads - especially not within 24 hours
Secondly, if you had bothered to search then you would have found a few threads with custom ROM dev in the Miscellaneous Android Development so you might find answers/help there
Thirdly, don't expect much as there aren't many people out there with that phone, so dev work and support is highly limited.
firstly i'm sorry i am new user old was used to update play store my phone but i'm my phone apply format and don't update play store It would not normally be
Try install apk

As far as I know, the newest versions of Google Play only run on ICS & JB.. Android 2.3.5 doesn't support them.
I'm not totally sure, but I think that might be the problem.

Certainly GB supports the Play Store fully. The OP might be best off downloading the latest gApps for GB and flashing that onto his device

Actually it since GB. So 2.3.5 is supported.
Okidoki, I had heard something like that somewhere, but seems like I was wrong.
So GB supports alls Google Play Updates, but Froyo doesn't?
I'm was used to update this play store but phone apply format and don't update..
Trying to apk download thanks! )

I guess I'd also be interested in this, since I'm sick of seeing the update notification, but don't want to lose native tethering/root/gravitybox (if I can keep all three of those with 4.4.4, please help me figure out how, but it seems the write protection gets turned back on, so at the very least, I'd be losing xposed/gravitybox).
Haven't ever had Titanium backup installed or frozen anything, is it a free app? Or is there another way to do it?
Have to freeze Motorola OTA in titanium then in root browser go to the system cache and delete the OTA file.
I finally found them with the android tuner app from the app market and froze them

And I used ROM Toolbox and froze the Motorola OTA app/apk.
It has worked fine for me for the last three-four days.

I looked in system/cache when I was taking the update to 4.4.4 and did not see anything there... Now that I'm in 4.4.4 I don't even see a cache folder under system

My mistake. Its actually just under cache on the root of the device. Not under the system folder. But the file is auto deleted after updating

WatchESPN problems?

Anyone have problems streaming videos on their WatchESPN app? I wiped cache/data and tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Every time I start a video it appears to be loading, then says "Unfortunately, WatchESPN has stopped."

You probably have to install an older version, I think it's 2.3.1. I had the same issue, it's a known problem with Kit Kat users that aren't using ART, and ESPN isn't interested in fixing it. If you can't find it, PM me. I might have that version saved somewhere. I'm running a Lollipop ROM now and haven't even tried WatchESPN on it.

This has been resolved if any moderator were to want to close this thread. The older version of the app worked great.

Make sure to get the older version of the app, and don't do any updates once you get it. Make sure it won't automatically update your app.
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy 6 and have gone back as far as the 2.2 version and I still can't get it to work.

I have mine working fine on 2.3.1. Do you have any other apps that play videos? (ie. Netflix, HBO GO)
Yes I'm using att u-verse

So every time you attempt to play videos on the other apps they work? And when you try on WatchESPN it gives you the "Unfortunately, WatchESPN has stopped." error?
Exactly!

It's obviously app related, but I don't seem to understand why using older versions of the app don't work. I know you are probably pretty smart, but are you checking the WatchESPN app version after you install in the app itself? When I was looking for an older version of the app I found many links. Some stated they were older versions, when they are in fact the most up-to-date version.

Downgrading a Verizon Pixel from P to Oreo

I was trying to downgrade my Pixel back to Oreo because of mostly app incompatibility (I should've taken that into account before I upgraded it, my bad) but everytime I tried to flash back to Oreo, I'm unable to do it because of the locked bootloader, I've been using recovery mode and adb sideload to try it, but I had a feeling it wouldn't work, can anyone recommend me any solutions to downgrade?
Edit: Well, I realized after looking for some answers on reddit, that I'm basically screwed for a while until DP2 comes out, so I'm still just hoping I can downgrade it but I might as well start accepting my fate.
+1. App compatibility in P makes my phone almost unusable, which is 100% my fault. Take note Verizon users. The changes in P aren't worth half your apps, including Google apps, not working.

Sounds like your gapps broke, factory reset
It did take me a factory reset to fix my problems, but data for games and such are gone as a result. The apps that wouldn't work for me are apps like Amazon Prime Video, Youtube, and xda feeds.
So is it worth upgrading my Verizon XL to P or should I stay on Oreo? If so, is there a thread describing how to do this?

If your bootloader isn't unlocked stay on oreo. Android P is still in beta and there are potential problems to occur and if your bootloader isn't unlocked you will be stuck in the beta from what I've heard
