GT-P3113 running CM10 Nightlies. Home button config - Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" Android Development

I noticed if I hold the home button, a semi-circle pops up with a Google icon in it. Is there a way to add more apps to this pop-up menu?

With LauncherPro how do I add applications to homescreen

All I get when I do a long press is the option to add folders, widgets, shortcuts and go into wallpapers.
I did a reboot thinking that after I installed it there was an issue but I still don't get an option to add apps. I tried a search on this in the forums and was surprised to not find anything.
Have you tried holding down the app from the drawer til it appears on your home screen?

Thx. I wonder why it isn't in the long press context menu also.

Change Home Button Longpress

Does anyone know where the action for longpressing the home button is stored on TW roms? I'm on Synergy, and want to change the longpress of the home from the recent apps switcher to the menu button, but I cannot for the life of me find where that is stored. I found where nearly everything else is stored, but I just need to know where the longpress of the home button action is stored, so I can change it to MENU. Thanks!
There's an option to change hardware key settings on paranoid android. Its an aosp cm10 ROM.

It cannot be done to my knowledge unless the developer has incorporated it into the rom.

It CAN be done. You just need to find a launcher that supports it.
I use Nova launcher and you can assign an action to the home key to open whatever you want. It's not the longpress, its the press once for homescreen then when you're on the homescreen you press it again and another action comes up. Thats the action you can define using Nova.
Try this.

Valid point, but if you just want to run the rom standard tw, your stuck with what was built in.

Does this still hold true? I have remapped my menu button to back and my back button to recent applications, but am now in need of a menu key. I would like to long press home to get menu. Any ideas on how I can do this?

I know this is a vague response but I don't know where exactly, just am about 99% sure it's code is found in b the android.policy.jar, as this is were the long press for menu/back is found my guess would be the home and power button coding is found in that .jar

Really... odd gmail bug

Okay, so I've never really seen something like this before, and googleing around didn't really help... so here's e situation.
I'm running an app (say tapatalk for instance)
I press the back button to go back to the previous screen (example: topic to forum)
And magically, my gmail inbox appears out of nowhere.
It appears that gmail thinks I'm in a message, and then I hit back and the inbox pops up. It's like gmail is catching the key even though its not open... any thoughts?

Hi sloosecannon,
Just a few questions, in order for everybody to focus on your prob.
What launcher are you on?
Can you confirm that it's the "back" button you are pressing when the problem arises? Can you confirm that it is not the "home" button, instead?
Did you configure you "Quick launch" button differently from "screenshot"?
What I'm thinking is that in some way your launcher is taking control over your keys, and maybe checking your configurations could somehow help.

Okay, thanks for the help...
Using AOKP, launcher is Apex...
It is the back button, the little sideways-u shaped arrow thingy
The screenshot button is removed in AOKP...
That actually seems possible... I may try using a different one...
No joy on changing the launcher, although I still think that might be it... it launches gmail even after I've fc'd it. But it only does that w/ gmail... if I uninstall gmail completely the problem goes away

Okay, so here's a logcat:
I/ActivityManager( 272): START {cat=[android.intent.category.LAUNCHER] flg=0x10004000 cmp=com.google.android.gm/.ConversationListActivityGmail u=0} from pid 2712
That is what happens when I press back. PID 2712 is the system UI (back button and notification bar)

LOL figured it out... apparently the navring targets are borked... I had gmail as the bottom-left target. Removing it fixed the problem...

[Q][P3100][Jelly bean] soft buttons

Hi all, I've just flashed JB.
I've seen some things I didn't expect (probably they depend on the phablet interface) which I don't like so much.
1 - long press the home button doesn't open mini task manager anymore
2 - the useful customizable soft button (you could use it to take screenshots, access the drawer and so on) has gone
3 - long press the recent apps soft button doesn't open the drawer anymore
Any ideas? Is JB really better than ICS?
Thanks
Try going into your settings, and look for system launcher i think... I don't remember what it is called. But in the settings, under the device section, it should be there i think. If you do find it, look for system options and softtouch keys. There you can set your own buttons and have what they do if you hold it. Sorry for bad instructions. I don't have a device to see where its located at.
IMO, Jelly Bean is better than ICS. Because Jelly Bean has project butter, making everything so smooth and clean.
I tried to look everywhere, but there's nothing about soft keys.
Thanks anyway.

Anyone found a solution? Maybe some app?
I really miss the mini task manager of the home button (now it opens Google Now, which I really don't care about).

the task manager soft button is not a big deal. you can get it from the Quick Launch (far right arrow)
Maybe someone knows how to edit homescreens now? There's no menu button on the homescreen

Pinch screen and then you can delete unneeded

Yes, I know, but with ICS it was easier (1 tap less). I could use the quick launch anyway.
Same thing for the drawer, I could keep pressed the recent activities button to acces it directly; now (when I'm not in a homescreen) I have to press the home button and, then, the app button in the dock.
Usually I suppose that a more recent OS release has some improvement, not a drawback.

That has been removed. The menu button will appear only if necessary and needed by the app itself. If you don't seem to find the menu button, it might be embedded in the app itself. The menu button on the navigation bar will appear at the left-most corner. A 3 horizontal line with a small triangle.
So it seems like..it has already been removed..and also the screen grab shortcut aswell hmmm anyways thanks for the input though

Any idea how to flip the multitask and back buttons ? Isn't it weird that the back button is now on the right ? Why would Samsung do that ?
My menu button on GT-6210 hardly ever shows up no matter which app I'm using & it's totally random when it decides to show back up (using stock honeycomb.) I got so annoyed by not having it when I needed it so I bought an app called called button survivor from the market. I think it needs root permission but now I can use that to open the menu whenever I need it.

So did they remove quick launch options in the display settings removed on jellybean?
Settings/display/quick launch
I don't have jellybean so I can't check but if they they removed the quick launch option & removed the screenshot shortcut that is very disappointing and makes no sense at all.
