Hello guys, I'm not a super noob but I can certainly use some advise and suggestions. I was trying to be all smart and try to put CM7 on my phone by rooting the nexus S without having to unlock the bootloader. I've read around and realized that I could do so if my phone is on 2.3.2 or 2.3.1.
So I search around and the following thread:

suggested using Odin to downgrade from 2.3.4 to 2.3.1. After doing the steps I realized that it also unlocked my bootloader. Now does anyone know if there is a way to relock my bootloader if I used the Odin?
I've done some reading and as far as I can tell you can relock your phone using the "fastboot oem relock". but this method only works if you originally used the "fastboot oem unlock" in the first place.
Any suggests?

The command is actually "fastbook oem lock" and I would think it would work now matter how the bootloader was unlocked. You should at least try it. You just have to make sure you have Android SDK installed and your device drivers installed.
fastboot oem unlock to unlock and wipe your phone, flash cwm recovery, flash cm7.
turn off phone, turn it back on to bootloader and do fastboot oem lock.
Done.
Other than removing the unlock icon from showing what is/are the added benefit(s) of relocking the phone? I am just curious as I unlocked my Nexus S by ADB using the fastboot oem unlock command. Thanks.

No, i didn't unlock my drvices .Because i can't unlock it,if i unlock it ,i can't have after-sales service.
I know how to unlock it. I want to lock the Bootloader again, let it show locked instead relocked , when i input fastbootoem get-bootinfo.

oh i understand now.. as far as i know there will always be a trace of the bootloader that has been unlocked.

You could fastboot erase boot
and all other partitions
then flash the boot.img with fastboot again.
and fastboot flash all of the stock paritions

Luckily I met you... But I should root , When i root this drvice, i must unlock it.. So if i back up this partition, this partition's contents was changed,
this boot.img is unlocked...This approach seems to not work, right?Finally, thank you for your thoughts.

U can re-lock bootloader by using this command, however it will say re-locked instead of locked...

That command has been tried since the original Moto G and no, contrary to what some people think you can't reset the internal unlock counter. They will always know you unlocked it. If nothing else, they know because you got the unlock code from them. I'm not sure why people overlook this clearly posted sentence when they request the unlock code from Motorola.
"Unless you have a Developer Edition device, once you get the unlock code, your device is no longer covered by the Motorola warranty; in other words, please don't blame us if things go wrong, even if they appear unrelated to unlocking the bootloader."

That command will lock your bootloader again. However, locking and unlocking will wipe your device.
Upon receiving your unlock code from Motorola, your warranty is void; regardless if you unlock it or not. The sheer act of asking for and receiving the code voids your warranty.
Of course, if there is a true hardware issue that is not caused by software tinkering, you can still use that piece of the warranty.

but I think after reflashing stock, boot logo will be return to normal.
I tried that command and relock the bootloader several times as i didnt got the same battery backup as stock... So my question is after relocking and flahing stock rom... Do i get the OTA? and will it get flashed sucessfully?

Yes you will be able to get over the air updates after relocking bootloader if necessary system apps and files are not modified.
If you are not able to get ota you could also flash stick firmware images.

Even though I've run the commands to re-lock, going into the fastboot (bootloader) mode shows it's unlocked.

No, once it's unlocked, the counter will always show an unlocked bootloader. Best you can do is hide the opening unlocked bootloader screen.
In the 1st Moto G i have sucessfully relocked the bootloader.
You can use the command 'fastboot oem lock begin', then flash all files from fastboot firmware changing the logo file to logo-mod.bin (File that have removed the unlocked warning image, because flashing custom logo.bin doesn't check crc or hash when relocking the bootloader), then finish with 'fastboot oem lock' command.
Example:
fastboot oem lock begin
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
- - - rest of commands
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase customize
fastboot erase clogo
fastboot oem lock
I don't have tested because i don't have unlocked my g3 bootloader yet.

I still don't understand the point of all this... why are people trying to go through all the work of relocking the bootloader?!?! There is ZERO benefit to it... your warranty is still void (you don't even have to unlock, just agree to the terms and get the unlock token), it doesn't enhance resale value, it doesn't change the performance, so why all the effort to try to do it?!?!

to get the new official OTA... if bootloader is locked and have stock rom we are able to get the OTA and can flash successfully with it... though it shows bootloader unlocked warning.

Hmm... Are you sure? If you are unlocked but otherwise pure stock, you should still get OTAs, if your not then they are most likely blocked server-side not client-side. In other words just accepting the T&C of a Motorola bootloader unlock could not only void your warranty, but also blacklist your IMEI from OTAs as well.
I could be wrong, but I think your "barking up the wrong tree" here... I can tell you for sure that Huawei does it this way since Lollipop, if you unlock the bootloader your IMEI is blacklisted server-side... They are very straightforward about it.

not at all... already flashed official firmware 3 times after experiencing the less battery backup on custom roms. in this 3 times i flashed the modified bootlogo so didnt got the warning of bootloader unstlocked and not able to get the OTA but then again i flashed the official firmware 4th time and without that modified bootlogo in hope to get the latest OTA build no. LPI23.72-65 and it worked i got that update next day... and still its show bootloader unlocked warning... so that warnling doesn't affect the OTA is you have everything stock with locked bootloder.
Can anyone post a modified logo without the unlocked warning? My bootlock is relocked but i wanna get rid of this message. Thanks!

If yo u are planning on unlocking the bootloader and rooting, then get either the global version, or Tencent (which is Chinese market version) but it has to be on Chinese ROM so you can unlock the bootloader.
if it is Tencent edition with global ROM, just do not buy it.
the issue faced by most who get Tencent edition with global ROM is that the resellers unlock the bootloader to flash the global ROM & then they relock the bootloader.
ASUS only allows you 1 time unlock.unlocking for a 2nd time is yet to be successful.
i am facing this issue myself hence i do not wish it to anyone else.

If you purchased the device from eBay or Amazon and it is a Tencent version with WW installed, you may want to check that it isn't already unlocked. There are also some sellers that convert the phone and then lock the bootloader again without realizing it is once and done.

What exactly is it that prevents the Tencent version from being re-unlocked? Do you know? Is the unlock tool coded to reject subsequent unlocks on Tencent? When I confirmed with ASUS that I could re-unlock mine after they rolled it back to factory (WW version not TC), the guy told me you can unlock indefinitely, they just register that you've done it over the internet when you use the ASUS tool...

I honestly don't know if it is some step that is being performed incorrectly or corrupted conversions. I was able to unlock mine again after being sold a converted version, but it also had the original serial and IMEI intact. It could also be a myth left over from the 3.
Thats exactly the problem. They only allow the BL to be unlocked one time. It will stay unlocked after that unless you relock it yourself. Once re-locked, you are locked for good.
Unless someone figures out a way around it, and to my knowledge previous ROG devices have had no such luck.

Low-level EDL is supposed to be able to fix that. I don't intend to test it.

I thought this phone would be really popular among enthusiast but it failed miserably. Unlocking bl is hard from what I'm reading so I guess we won't have custom roms any time soon

Looked great on paper. It's a big miss from ASUS - they've scr*wed up. It's not just the BL unlock, the list is growing...
