(Q) How To Correct Corrupted/Faulty DATA Partition on P6800? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello..
I'm getting ERROR message everytime I try to enter the recovery mood. Its happened 2 days ago. I've tried to flash the stock ROM for several times and hoping that could correct this issue. Unfortunately, that couldn't help and leaving me dissapointed.
I noticed this issue for the first time when my device cannot process the command line "Updating BLA BLA..." during entering the recovery mood. Its stop there and nothing is happened for about more than 5 minutes until I forced it to shutdown by long pressing the power button. Then, I tried to enter the recovery mood for the second time. You guys know what happened to my device?
I predict that situation is okay until when I try to WIPE all data and encountered an error message with the red text asking me to 'use UI to format system and reboot'.
But, I still don't know what to do. I'm hoping that you guys with kind hearted to please do help me. Thanks in advance.
One more thing, please teach me how to make this flash counter mark (!) disapear......... THANKS.

Mind was replaced new mainboard.
If you cannot, I recommend you read Samsung note forum. There are thread about 'parted' command to repartition to skip bad block. Mind was success to skip and boot but lost a lot of gigabyte.

Thanks for replying to my question.. Will read the forum for sure.. Thank you.

Recently I faced the similar problem twice. The 1st time was using ODIN to flash the latest CWM and then format the DATA folder through the advance setting... solved the problem...
2 days ago, I faced the same problem again and the solution above won't help at all. I use the ODIN flashed the original Samsung firmware and do reset to default through the original recovery and it works. But I lost all my internal data in the internal memory.
So, you could try the suggestion above if it helps. Just the 2nd one WILL DELETE ALL DATA and it is UNRECOVERABLE. So you been warned. Don't blame me if you lost your multi-billion project file.

there's another thread with this problem in 'general' will edit with link momentarily. i'm having the /data format/mount error, and i'm afraid to try flashing ICS with a previous ODIN version as i CANNOT afford to loose this device.. from what i understand... THIS is the superbrick bug.... and with no warranty for customers in the US.... ugghhh..

There is a way to fix it . You need to bet it JTAG ed . I cant vouch for the guy but there is someone
On XDA that does offer that service . I dont have the link right now but do a search and you can find
It I hope . I will look for the link later . Dont give up there is hope .

[Q] I think I bricked my phone!!

If anyone is able to assist me, I would really appreciate it. Being so sick of Samsung's slow upgrade service, I thought I would follow what so many have done and root my phone and flash android 2.3.3 to my Samsung Galaxy S.
Everything was going fine until Odin's screen changed from yellow to RED with FAILED across it. My phone had a blue progress bar only half way across the download screen and all things stopped. I removed the battery and tried to reboot, but now have only a small picture of a phone and a computer showing a broken link. I love the Galaxy I9000, is there any hope for repair?
If you can access download mode reflash it.

i can help you. At odin chose "debug only" and then "PDA Format" and it will work 100%
Thank you "Thanks Meter"for responding... What version of Odin are you using and where do you get it?? I am using Odin 3 v1.82 and it doesn't have a "Debug Only"button or a "PDA Format"button. How do I select these things??
Also do you where there are any Australian based firmwares?? My Galaxy is a Vodafone based Australian phone and I would love to get a firmware that suited the phone, (if one exists that is).
Thank you again for trying to assist. You're a good bloke, not many try to assist.
I just thought I would let you know that I tried my best to follow your instructions. I have never had Odin successfully complete a flash even once. However, I did run it with only the PDA selected and that was the most helpful.
The problem is now that the phone is locked into a startup phase. I get to the "S"elblem on startup and then the phone reboots and starts again, over and over again without ever completing the log on cycle.
Have you heard of this before?
This is driving me nuts...
Thank you to all members who responded to my problem post. I have had no success but I really appreciate your efforts..

That's great news! Not just for you (glad it worked) but for others that may have potentially bricked their phones.

Pretty sure you have to use the flashing software in the post and follow the directions. Samsung PST or whatever its called.

From other post that I have read, you always use PDA not phone when flashing roms. I soft bricked my phone is error and I flashed EE4Xstock_DXC.TAR helped on my end.
I found out what i was doing wrong. With odin its ok to remove the battery to load files and i accidently removed the battery using the samsung software and you are not suppose to do that, the battery must stay in for the process to work.

Bricked my mobile need help...

I was running ICS and flashing all the available on XDA which are relevant to ICS, all of sudden i was facing so many problem and want to Restore the previous backup so i tried to boot in to recovery but was stuck on Samsung splash screen with top written as Booting into Recovery.
So i thought Recovery partition is corrupted so i booted into download mode and flashed Stock ROM with ODIN and it was successfully flashed and mobile restarted.
Mobile restarted saying "Error in Recovery Kernel" in red color.
so i again thought some problem happend so i again flashed Stock ROM using ODIN, now it restarted and stuck on Samsung splash screen only no progress...
Finally i tried flashing pit file with re-partition option also still same problem..
have any one faced this kind of issue and any help will be appreciated....
It seems you tried also the possible tricks. The last resort i think is to apply the dead phone repair trick which i think should help. Warning it removes your imei so it is necessary that you have your efs backup.
first try to boot then take EFS as backup...
now flash stock rom and if the problem persists , take it to SSC...
it may so have happened that your flash on which recovery partition is stored on has been damaged...
all the best buddy...

Could be another version of that....
Our and the galaxy S2 and note have very different architectures...
The eMMC bug does corrupt some sectors on the flash which seems like a brick...
But i believe his phone can be recovered as it is only soft bricked...

Since you've successfully flashed stock ROM via Odin and stuck on Samsung splash screen, all you have to do is to boot in the stock recovery and perform a "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe the cache". Then reboot and see if it worked. It worked for me when I was facing the same issue.

It looks like you might get so called "kernel panic". It can happen when you switch between kernels, android versions.
Another thing...bootloaders. You guys restored ics-cwm backup but still use gb bootloader. It can cause booting problems sometimes.
If it was eMMC brickbug mj.vikram wouldn't be able to turn the device on.
Mj.vikram if you can flash gb-stock and you are able to boot into recovery, so wipe data and cache. No need for this heavy unbrick procedure yet, i think.

I had a similar problem... My sgr used to get stuck on the splash screen for about a minute and then boot....
It had happened due to some unknown bug while flashing extensively with various ROMs and MODs, and resulted my SGR sensors (PROXIMITY & LIGHT SENSOR) not to work....
Then SSC people replaced sensors but it did not work... Then they replaced the entire board..
I think you are going through a similar situation... Take it to SSC as soon as possible and make sure... You have flashed Indian Stock and reset the counter... All the best...

Symptoms of super brick(caused by emmc bug):
1.Phone gets stuck at splash screen.
2.recovery gets stuck at whenever trying to access corrupted partition.
3.ODIN gets stuck at flashing factoryfs.
4.You can flash kernel but almost nothing else using both ODIN and cwm.

[Q] Need emergency help to unbrick Galaxy 3 GT-i5801.

I have been using Samsung Galaxy 3 GT-i5801 for 2 years now.. It was having Android 2.1. Today I decided to install custom ROM to upgrade to Android 2.3.7. Used the below steps in the process:
1. Rooted the device using SuperOneClick
2. Installed ClockworkMode ROM manager 4.3.3.0. Installed G3RM as well.
3. I could not take the backup. G3RM when tried to open was opening a html code when i clicked the options. ClockworkMode did not have the option for Galaxy 3.
4. Downloaded the CM7.2.0-GT-i5800_Alpha8.3_CWM.zip from google code pages for cm7-i5800 (92.2 MB in size).
5. Copied the zip file to the base directory of SD card and renamed it to update.zip. Using CWM wiped the data/factory reset. Phone rebooted to Android 2.1 with all data erased.
6. Then I updated the ROM using CWM. It didn't throw any errors. Mobile rebooted. But it gets stuck in opening screen forever (display contains just GT-I5801 and Samsung). I assume this is a soft brick. As I recollect now, I forgot to clear the cache before the upgrade. Will this be a problem?
7. Tried to recover using Power + Vol Up+ Vol Down + Menu combination. This process is also stuck with a message "FORCED UPLOAD by KEY PRESSING".
8. I suspect the device is bricked now.
I am new to android ROM updates. I am looking forward for your help to unbrick the device now. Please suggest me the steps to unbrick the device (Or a link which i should follow).
Regards,
Shreekanth
At Step 7, try use ODIN and flash a Rom through it. Theres a guide somewhere on this forum. It should help save your.. Oh wait. I think you have to get a special i5801 ROM, but I might be wrong.
My phone does not boot up now.. Will it be possible to use ODIN to flash a ROM at this stage? Before step 6, I had cleared the wiped the data / factory reset using CWM. That time it rebooted to Android 2.1. Later i copied the ROM and tried the ROM update. I am facing the problem since then.
Since the display turns on, I assume this is kind of soft brick. So hoping for a fix. I am searching the entire forum for any possible answer. Please help me with your suggestions.

HELP with Soft Brick

So I have an old Infuse that my kids use and it went crazy the other day. Not sure what happened. Long story short I keep getting a boot loop at the ATT screen. This phone is not rooted and I'm not sure if it was on Froyo or GB. I've flashed every return from brick I can find on XDA. I'm using Odin and I'm pretty familiar with flashing/rooting etc. Can't figure this one out. The only thing I can think is the boot loaders are not the correct ones? Not sure, I keep seeing GTG's ultimate unbrick but all the links I get to it don't work. this is the only thing I haven't tried. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit to add: After I flash in Odin it goes to reboot then does the open update, verifying update, installing update, successfully installed update package.
Copying media files it says failed to mount/sdcard, can't mount /sdcard your storage not prepared yet please use UI menu for format and reboot. ??? I think that's the problem. How do I fix??
Just search in the stickies for bootloaders. That will solve your problems

You mentioned it's boot-looping at the Samsung logo - perhaps there's an issue with the power button.

This happened to me earlier. What I did was-
1 Went to full stock using heimdal one click, After completetion, U may stuck in bootloop in at&t as you said
2 Flash efs.zip found in the link below using odin. put efs.zip in odin and untouch any other setting and flash, (Ur imei may be previously corrupted so u got bootloop). This doesnot do any harm. So flash with confidence. If ur device doesnot show up in odin after u flash with heimdal one click , reinstal drivers with kies mini
Link for download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729838
3 Now u'll be out of AT&T bootloop if ur imei was previously corrupted.
I was in similar situation. And this solved my proble.
Hit me thanks if I helped you :good:
Thanks for all the advise. Still not working. Tried everything above and much more. Different things I do give different results but pretty much the same in end. Either sticks in recovery or boot loops one way or another. Really don't see how this could be related to software but you never know I guess.
