CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

I will be uploading new kernel for Cyanogen Mod 7/AOSP roms here- http://goo.im/devs/sakindia123
Kernel will be acc. to the date they were released,so the latest kernel released today has an extension 803(Month-DD)
If u want to stay updated, keep checking that link around once a day
For changelogs,u can see the commits here- github.com/cm2pico/android_kernel_htc_pico
Something abt the kernel
1)it has full cifs, tun, zram, swap ,ext blah blah support
2) Compcache/zram is activated automatically when system load is high.To check ram/zram usage, type "zram" in terminal emulator(w/o quotes). Type "zram_stats" for detailed information
3)I i cleaned up Ondemand governor(default) and tuned it a bit today.Feedback is appreciated
4)Facing lags ? Type "turbo" in terminal emulator and see the magic !
5)Use "S2E" from Play Store instead of A2sd.It;s more stable!
6)U can use this kernel for sense roms too, just replace ramdisk/initramfs with sense'd one

Tried. Its Awesome.
Extended Power Menu Working.
No Lags or Anything.

Wanna go home at light speed to try this rom...

I am very tired , may be tomorrow i'll fix sound and bluetooth , because i know where problem....
So our kernel from HTC. HTC kernel for bluetooth use btld.
Btld - use low power mode from btld, hciattach use low power mode from kernel, so our kernel don't support lpm, we can try to disable lpm in hciattach service, or add lpm to kernel, but first i think we need to found where problem and then fix like we want

Thanks to all you guys are superb.
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2

Great job!! best of lucks with the camera, that will be a tough one.

market and file manager is crashing every once in a while...apart from that rom is butter smooth... kudos

Even videos don't work it reboots in few seconds and keyboard height is too small...will provide a logcat soon....others bugs are known like bluetooth,camera,audio...will let you know more as I use it more...
UI is smooth than previous ports but still problem at small places and noticed a small bug when I wrote su in terminal and granted access the terminal got freezed...
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using xda premium

So, I've teste the rom for a while now and I think I may be able to give some feedback
First of all, AWESOME!!!!
It looks really nice (with some minor bugs) and it fells responsive enough to be used as a daily rom. It has a HUGE list of languages, so it will suit any1
I've noticed it does not come with google's Play Store, so I've download the apk file, but when it asks for the Google Account, it just closesm and if I try to add an account manually there is no option for Google Account,
The stock keyboard is by far too small, but 3rd party keyboards look normal.
The sound, bluetooth and camera do not work (as mentioned)
In the clock app, when in landscape mode, the last number is cut a little bit (like any1 even uses that app)
Now, I have another problem, but this has happened with any Rom that I've tested so far. When there are colour gradients in the menu keys, they are not smooth as they are in the stock rom.
This is hard to explain, but tomorrow I'll install the stock rom again and take some screen shots and then any other rom and take some more to show you guys, but if you did understand what I was saying, is this normal? What could the problem be?
Anyways, really nice job. We are almost with a fully working CM7 Rom. I can't take you guys enough
Edit:
Ok so now the phone randomly rebooted. I think it got mixed up in the lock screen, and it was in landscape when it is always in portrait mode... But it is not happening again so I have no idea xD
---------- Post added at 04:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:52 AM ----------
Ok... So now I took the screen shots and there seems to be no problem in the colour gradients... But there is some problem with them in the phone's screen, but only with other roms that not my stock one...
I'll later take some photos with an actual camera to show you what I'm talking about

I am very pleased to announce that the Samsung Epic 4G SPH-D700 is now officially a CyanogenMod-supported device.
Team EpicCM's github repositories have been merged into CyanogenMod's.
The first official build from this merge, 7.2.0 RC0, is now available.
Borrowing from Decad3nce's preamble:
CyanogenMod is a free, community built distribution of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) which greatly extends the capabilities of your phone.
THIS IS NOT SAMSUNG TOUCHWIZ AND NEVER WILL BE. DO NOT ASK ABOUT IT IN THIS THREAD. THANK YOU.

This is an AOSP-based build with extra contributions from many people which you can use without any type of Google applications. I found a link from some other project that can be used to restore the Google parts, which can be found below or elsewhere in the thread. I've still included the various hardware-specific code, which seems to be slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Visit the CHANGELOG for a full list of changes and features!

Thank you to EVERYONE involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging and documenting! Enjoy!
The current buglist:
WiFi Hotspot is broken. Third-party apps are known to work.
Charging notification LED does not light until full charge is reached
Video playback for certain encoders
Wimax
Other than those (relatively) minor bugs, this rom is nearing a somewhat completion.
New Changes
- Fixed brightness control (noobnl)
- WiFi appears to be stable. You may need to wipe old settings. (decad3nce, noobnl, uberpinguin)
- Official build
Changes:
- Fixed bad cached download mounts (noobnl)
- Fixed overlay for video encoding/decoding (decad3nce & noobnl)
- Fixed e911(mkasick)
- Fixed most of the dhcpd clusterfuck(a couple more issues left)
- Fixed init.d
- Fixed cache errors
- Fixed issues with logwrapper
- MTD/yaffs2
- Wifi is still screwy
- Stage1/Stage2 inits
- Updates from upstream
- Backup/Restore fixed
- Updated prebuilt modules
- 2.3.7
- Compiled kernel from source MAJOR THANKS to mkasick and Rodderik
- Fixed torch overlay
- Fixed MMS overlay
- Fixed incoming call routing
- Fixed mic feedback/whistling
- Adjusted APN for MMS - receiving works, sending fixed
- Fixed application notification LED based on a tip from DRockstar
- Fixed haptic feedback with a patch from jt1134
I recommend using the EI22 modem.
Please note flashing someone else's kernel may ruin your experience with this rom and I advise against it. This rom is a result of many tiring hours from Decad3nce, jt1134, Uberpinguin, nubecoder, mkasick, nullghost, dameon78, wispofattes, DRockstar, and many many other contributors.
Sweet!

WiMAX is on the list of things to work on, and may be supported in the future. Right now we don't have a timeframe, and can't promise that we'll actually get it working.
I'm going to assume that the "Synced with CM sources as of 10/21" is incorrect and just a copy and paste oversight from the other thread?

curious to know which apps dont work right now with video playback? hboGO, youtube, or vevo. could somebody check it out for me if you already are on cm
This is fantastic news! Downloading now!
Sorry if this is dumb, but I can't get it to flash. I downloaded the 104mb rom but when I go to flash it it fails after the MTD check. What am I doing wrong? Is there something I have to flash to convert over to MTD first?

The zip will automatically move you to MTD if you're not there already.
If you are not already on MTD, the flash takes a fairly long time and reboots at least once during the process.
Where is it failing for you?

All containers and codecs seem to be working, so there should be no reason for any apps to fail video playback.

Installation
First time installing CyanogenMod 9 to your Htc Explorer/Pico, or coming from another ROM:
- Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Copy GApps and CM9 ZIPs to your SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip from SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from SDCard
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot)
- Reboot
- Don't restore data using Titanium Backup! they might cause FC's
- Restoring Apps + Data might cause problems and is not recommended, avoid it if possible!
Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9:
- Copy CM9 ZIP to your SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip from SDCard
- Reboot

Its based on the Android 4.x aosp launcher with additions by the Cyanogen Mod Team and the android community

Say, for example, you've got Apps backed up from your previous ROM. Of course it's going to cause problems. Happened with me on even my Nexus.
Edit : I am guessing the DATA backup is what causes the problems. Has the OP tried backing up only the app and not the data?
I think backups of games should work.. Thats what I want restored because they have HUGE sd data (hd games). Apps dont really matter as I didn't have many and they have a small size.
Does the problem occur because of change from GB to ICS? Compatibility Probs?
here is a detailed tutorial for cm7..will be uploading screenshots and mediafire links soon

How to use mass storage?
when i conncet explorer to my pc,it doesn't detect my sd card.what should i do?
i tried the MTP option but nothing is happening.
Also,i am not complaining but WIFI is very important....in my case more important than network.
i don't call much,so please wifi is the no 1 need now and he mass storage.
Also forgot, the audio sound is very low.
Anyway VERY VERY GOOD WORK TO Sakindia123 and all others

Thanks for the quick fixes, btw.
Keep it up. :good:

That's what I posted in the CM7.2 thread XD :
"Can the devs please tell me how to make wifi to work in CM9? I mean, I am good with programming and adding modules and I have a lot of spare time so I can probably help. Any leads where to start? Is it the kernel?"
Okay so wifi is working? Finally. Wifi is important so at least I can work on further tweaks Can you upload that tonight because I'll be off to university tomorrow and I will only have access to my phone so Wifi is important haha!

Too good. Just what we needed
Thanks a ton iptux
Its great to see this device get a CM ROM finally. Works really well so far.
Couple of issues though
1. Not detecting mobile network for me. Tried multiple wipes and clean install but no effect
2. Not able to install google apps. both the store and gmail crash on launch. Unable to add account in the accounts tab in settings either.
Awaiting the next update

Tried that but the apps just crash. Am not sure why. Hopefully will get corrected in the next iteration. Bigger issue is that no mobile signal is detected

These unofficial builds are based on the CM t30 Kernel available at https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_acer_t30
All my specific device tree can be integrated in the CyanogenMod project.

Hi shreps,
if you don't mind: do you see any chance to post some instructions on how to merge/use your hardware branch for the building process of CM? I've tried to get more info on that, but just got lost in documentation.
Many thanks in advance for any hint/tip
best regards
m
Been playing with this ROM for a few hours now, working great so far!
A new build is online,
Just some CM minors changelog
NICE Rom!
Works like charm!
Fast and responsive, just how I like it!
Tried Games ( Sonic, Monopoly, Dead Slinger ), TomTom Europe and watching some videos - works perfect!
But where can I choose a CPU governeur? Or is that impossible on CM? Does it manage these things by itself?
Shreps you're awesome man
I too like another poster said would like to know where we can learn to make our own builds.

You can follow the Instruction Build for A700 : http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Build_for_a700
When you are at "Prepare the device-specific code "
"breakfast a510" will not work because you will have to add the a510 device tree manually
you will need all the configuration files in device/acer/a510
I made my own a510 device tree based on a700, t30-common and a510 device tree by AOKP

Glad to read that
There is no Governor settings in CM by default, if you're interested with this feature, check my other ROM : 7comp
The ROM works great but sadly I'm gonna stick to AOKP MR1 B5 because I can't manage to run Viper4Android App on this ROM. And the app is nearly essential for the A510. :crying:
maybe a silly questions, but to upgrade from the first to second version, can i just reflash the second one over top? i assume ill have to reflash gapps as well? i dont really want to have to reinstall all my apps again.

How to change ui to tablet UI?
P.s works good, but some display troubles, its blinking, and 2 times play store fc
Sent from my A510 using XDA Premium HD app
Thanks a lot for your ROM, I just install it to replace the stock ROM, and waohh, fluidity, responsive, excelent !!
For upgrading the build April 18 to April 20, you said before :
"flash the new build over the old one, flash Gapps and make wipe cache + wipe dalvick cache"
After this we need to reinstall all the app or a510 just being updating (same as OTA cyanogen on others devices)
Thanks for supporting this device !!!
How to change ui to tablet UI?
There is not tablet ui in cm10.1, just like on stock.
Everything works great so far. I have noticed one bug though. When I want to change the soft button arrangement, the settings-app gets stuck in landscape orientation.
Thanks for building CM for us !!! :good:

The UI of CM is different to that of the stock firmware. Take a look at the UI of the Nexus 10, it looks the same. But in my opinion, the Acer UI had some advantages.
Another report: The browser seems a bit unstable when opening big sites. For example it freezes in my tablet when I open sites an watch embedded youtube-videos. It even got stuck on amazon.com.

Thanks for reporting, but this might be some CyanogenMod "common" issues on nightlies
I don't have time to make some CM patches
But I will try (if I found the time) to build a new build every week in order to benefits CM changes made
And you (all of you guys) will be able to compare builds and indicates wich build is the most stable
A new build is online
Don't hesitate to upgrade and make your feedback !

Installation
First time installing CyanogenMod 9 to your Htc Explorer/Pico, or coming from another ROM:
- Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Copy GApps and cm-9-20130629-UNOFFICIAL.ZIP to your SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash cm-9-20130629-UNOFFICIAL.zip from SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from SDCard
- Flash m2sd.zip
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at BOOTLOOP, FC, RANDOM REBOOTS)
- Reboot
- Don't restore data using Titanium Backup! they might cause FC's
- Restoring Apps + Data might cause problems and is not recommended, avoid it if possible!
M2SD COMMANDS
- Open Terminal
- Type - > su
-> m2sd apps disable
-> m2sd data enable (For speed and performance, if u want change it)
-> m2sd rmount enable
-> Then REBOOT

The zip file is invalid...
L.E.: You can repair the invalid ZIP file you must download WinRAR, open it and use the "repair" function (see attachment). Use the result archive instead of the original. It works fine.

make sure you do not transfer the zip to your sd card with a microsd to usb adapter, but use your micro usb cable to transfer.
I do not know why, but I get the same problem if I do it the wrong way. GL
I waited for some time for a pure CM9, without gibberish and themes and scripts to enhance the bugs....
As mentioned, the zip is invalid, but the ROM is stable and works better than I expected and it's plain, exactly like I want it!
I'll be back with more feedback after I test it with all my apps and different situations.
Thank you.
Do you recommend applying the "Pimp my rom" tweaks or some of them are already included?

I actually un-installed this rom.
There are no bugs, aside that, from time to time, it doesn't boot properly (I have to remove the battery) . Even the wireless / WI-FI issue is fixed here (it works perfect every time I bring it out of sleep or just connect it manually).
Sadly, on the long run, is un-usable as it lags too much. At some point I could not even properly dial a number...
I would love to see this running with an overclocked kernel and maybe tweaked a bit to drop anything that could cause lags...
Should we expect such a version in the future?
