Incipio silicrylic case - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

Got this coming in the mail and will post feedback when I get it. Basically an otterbox copy I resorted to until an otterbox comes out unless the incipio is legit

So the case came and I am very impressed with it. The quality and details of cutouts and overall fit are perfect and it comes with a perfect cut screen protector as well. I tried the D3O case at T-Mobile and can say that case makes the phone longer and wider looking while the Silicrylic maintains the slimness and does not lengthen or widen the phone very much. Check this case out!

Also FYI, I emailed Otterbox and they do not plan on making a case for the Blaze.

Looks pretty nice. If/when I get this phone I might have to get one of these as well.

Yea it's a nice case for anyone that likes the higher protection cases. I may check out the feather case as well idk, love the phone and getting ready to root and V6

Can you get a comparison picture of the two cases? I have the D30 case and it's a little bulky. I'm new to the smart phone thing and I'm scared to break it if I drop it. I'm just hard on stuff in general. Do you think the incipio would protect it as good as the D30?

I don't have the D3o so I cant make that comparison but I tried the D3o at the store and hated it. The silicrylic is nice and does not add too much size to it. I am using the feather for now but I still am keeping the silicrylic around...

Has anyone found theirs becoming discolored on the back and sides? Is there anyway to clean it? I have the purple one and not sure if its just from where I hold it, but it just looks dirty and I cant figure out how to get it clean.

any way to clean the case? Mine is getting disgusting I'm almost ready to throw it out

Otterbox Commuter, Fishbone, or Seidio Active x

What case did you choose and why? I'm about to jump into the epic world in the next couple of weeks and looking for some insight...I know the otterbox isn't out yet, but I didn't know if anyone had any info on it. I have an otterbox on my Hero right now and love it.
Thanks in advance and look forward to the epic community!!!
Well, the otterbox commuter is still listed as "coming soon" so that one I know nothing about. I have had two of the black cases from sprint (they always take the box so I don't know what brand) and it was a complete piece of ****. Money down the ****ing ****ter.
Looking into it, the Fishbone cases seem to have a lot of really positive feedback and they're super cheap so I am ordering one once I get back from my holiday.
Bulk wise the non-active x Seidio is the smallest followed by the Fishbone and then the Active X.
I have the X on my Epic and its pretty dang solid, the rubberized coating is starting to wear, but I do put the phone through a lot so I cant imagine what the phone would look like with out it.
Get the fishbone...it is affordable and the build quality is top notch...and it offers the protection equal to a ottebox or active x.

Plus it looks sweet.
i love the fishbone and everyone has commented on the look of it with my phone
well since i was the first person on the with a epic to buy and review the fishbone case, I think that my opinion is well noted...the reason i didnt comment on the look of the case is because beauty is subjective, everyone has different taste and if the op was interested in looks, he could go look at my fishbone review and look for himself..I am glad that the fishbone has become so popular because it is a very nice case at a great price.
Which one would you guys recommend? the Active X or Otterbox Commuter
<chant>fishbone fishbone fishbone fishbone</chant> its a sexy case...
I went ahead and ordered a Otterbox thru ebay, I will give my review and opinion once received.

I went with the Active X, because I want a holster, and I think it offers better protection than the Otterbox because the plastic covers the corners.
Blue Active X Combo for $33 on Ebay. Didn't see it for less than $40 anywhere else. CA sales tax though =P
I wanted to add that the otterbox case for the Epic 4g actually covers the corners better than the active x. Infact as far as protection goes I think the otterbox actually does a better job than the active x because, while each have a silicone and hard plastic layer, the hard plastic covers the entire back on the otterbox while the active x only covers the "clip arms."
Sent from my SPH-D700 (Bonsai v2.0) using XDA App
Ah, I see. I'm wrong about the plastic then. I saw the tech specs and assumed they used pictures of the Epic in the protective layers graphic.
Anyway, I just got my Active X, and it's great: beautiful (blue and black!) and good fit. I like how the silicone covers the buttons. Holster is solid too. I would have gone with the Otterbox if it had a holster though, from their reputation.
The only cons of the Seidio for me:
High lip around the screen makes it harder to use the touchscreen near the edge. It does offer more protection though.
Back shell seems to come off a bit easily. However, it hasn't come off on its own yet.
Which case is the slimmest? Can't really tell from the pictures given on each product's website. The Epic is already pretty bulky as it is so I'm not really looking for anything that oversizes it even more.
The Active X case makes the phone noticeably thicker - maybe 2.5-3mm all around. However, these 3 cases are all two layers, giving extra protection.
If you want thin, then go for something like a skin or the Seidio surface case. But you get less protection. Can't have everything
After much diliberation between the otterbox and seidio I have gone ahead and bought the seidio active x as it seems to be much more solid.hopefully getting it today.

I got the OtterBox Commuter pre-release from my OtterBox rep. It is, in my opinion, the best case for the Epic. The silicon layer covers the entire back, then the hard plastic goes over the silicone layer. The front of the case feels a little less bulky then all the other cases that I have tried as well. I have had no issues with sliding the keypad, either. Definately worth it to wait for it.
My OtterBox Commuter just came in today and based on my first impression it is pretty good. It looks very sleek and feels rather sturdy. My only semi-complaint is that it feels somewhat slippery on the back. Other than that it is pretty much perfect though. I have it paired with a Ghost Armor screen protector which is equally awesome, so now I'm set!
Well, I also just got an Otterbox -- have not tried the others, but wow - this sucker makes my (kinda) fragile Epic feel like a damn tank.
Still don't use a screen protector, really do not see the point on the Gorilla Glass, my screen still looks brand new since I've got it in September...
Actually the whole phone still looks new, before the Otterbox, but I'm not really rough with it.
It's not very thick, but it does add girth - I'm a larger dude so it's no skin off my back.
It actually makes the buttons better to use, and it has a bit of a seal around the edge.
The textured back doesn't help much and it's still slipperier than stock, but it's not so slippery as an iPhone.
9/10
I had the sedio and just got the otterbox. The otterbox is MUCH better in my opinion.
In all honesty though they both have good and bad points. I like the back to the otter box much better than the sedio but the front if the sedio seems much better. The sedio front is much deeper and I like the rubberized plastic. I found that the tabs on the front bezel protector of the otterbox hung up the sliding action of the phone where as the sedio didn't. One person said they just cut a few of them off but I don't like doing that.
So I mixed and matched cases, I have the otterbox back and the sedio front bezel protector on my epic. Another nice little thing I found was that the phone will fit into the sedio belt clip with the otterbox case on. So those of you who like the otterbox but need a belt clip just buy the sedio belt clip... it will fit.
I bought them both on eBay for 15 each so it cost me about the same as a brand new sedio case. That was with the belt clip too.

Trident Aegis

Trident has the aegis case up on their website for G2x. They only seem to have it in blue and green right now though.
Ordered a green one- will let you know, maybe get some pics up.
Also Fortte supposedly has a leather case in the works, but no details on it. I decided I wanted the ability to use the phone after I had a previous bookstyle case for a blackjack. That was a pain to make a call on.
Like the way it looks but also looks bulky?
Review and pictures would be appreciated.
http://www.tridentcase.com/product_67_92.html
It seems to be available in Black, Blue, Green, Pink and Red now. I am eager to hear how you like the case once you get it.
just from looking at the picture it looks gigantic i dun think its for everyone, more for like outdoor ppl or ppl who always break there phone. But it does look solid but could be better. They should make a slimmer version of the case.
Hey, these looks great!
I might pick up one while I wait for an otter-box, if they ever come around.

It's definitely going to add bulk to it. I have the Aegis for the myTouch 4G. It's bulky but provides very good protection for your phone.
Edit: If you guys are not in a hurry I would suggest waiting for this case to become available at CyclopsCase.com. I think they are a distributor for Trident cases. They are $10 cheaper. That's where I bought my Aegis case and it was shipped for free too.
just ordered the green. I have been a fan of the trident cases for a long time, the cases are top, top quality and offer amazing protection. I had a cyclops on my old MT4G and it was a beast, the Aegis does not look as bulky, but i am sure it will protect very well. I will post pics when it arrives.
The green and red one looks nice. I want to get one later on.
Review of Trident Aegis case for G2x (green)
$30 for case and screen protector
Bought this case to get corner and drop protection- I chose this over a Tech21 Nexus S slip case or a fortte leather case (not released yet) or PDair case because with the touchscreen, I didn't want to have to remove it, use it, put it back in. I wanted quick out of pocket check of email/calendar, back into pocket. I had a book style case (pdair) with an older blackjack II, and I hated the flap front cover when I wanted to make a call.
Shipping was fast via USPS, however I didn't get the screen protector in the box for some reason- the tape did not look neat, so I can't say if it got opened and pilfered in transit. I still have the OEM film protector that came with it, so I will just wait for a new ship of the screen protector from Trident customer service and have that as a backup.
Inner silicone is smooth- doesn't feel tacky to the touch at all so I don't think it will attract dust/lint like other more rubbery silicone. Hard polycarbonate is also smooth, though it doesn't feel like hard plastic that will chip, so that is good. I was worried about Seido as they have many forum posts about corners and tabs breaking. This doesn't feel like it will chip or break away unless I purposefully snapped it.
The final fit is good- it isn't super snug like some of the trident iPad and iPod reviews suggest. It isn't looks- it fits well, and I feel like I could get it apart without hassle to pull the battery if I wanted to.
Ports are covered with silicone tabs- volume and power work well- you have to give a little push since it is below the silicone. Tabs fit right below the hard polycarbonate to keep the in place. Micro USB cable plugs in well- the only port I may have to get an extender with is the 3.5 mm headphone jack since i have an L shaped jack instead of straight jack. It would have to fit with the L portion pushing out over the tab (think due south if looking straight at jack) and couldn't fit at any other angle out (north/west/east), but I think the extender that Trident has (which wasn't in stock when I ordered) would be the best option. Ill probably get something from Amazon or monoprice.
Camera holes and proximity sensor are holes- no plastic covering them, which is fine with me.
Fit in pocket (for a guy) is fine- it doesn't really add much unnecessary bulk. Width is about 11/16 of an inch, height is about 4 and 14/16. Phone/case is about as thick as my older BlackJack II without its case, so I am fine with it.
Overall I am happy with it. I can't say anything about the screen protector until I get a replacement, but I won't be using it until the OEM one peels off. I've never held an Otterbox so I can't compare quality, but frankly I don't think the O'box would be much different in quality. Or at least to justify waiting/pleading with them to get a case out for the G2x. I think it works for my needs- if I had decided on a leather case, I probably would have either gone with the Tech21 Nexus S (same dimensions) or waited to see what Fortte came out with, since Noreve and Sena are too expensive. I wish it was $20-$25, but I can see some of the engineering that went into it so I'm not too worried about the price.
Pros-
Nice non tacky silicone and polycarbonate shell.
Ports are covered but can be accessed.
Camo green is a nice green
Fit is secure but not too tight that I can't take it out.
Cons-
Wish they had more colors for the silicone (would have done a black poly shell with orange silicone to go with my company colors). They have this for the iPhone and a few others.
3.5 mm port likely needs an extender for L-shaped headphone jacks
Screen protector missing, but that may be a problem during shipping. Am not too worried about CS helping me out with this one.
Wish it would have cost $5 less, but it had free shipping, so evens out in the end.

Just got the blue one, this is def the best case around.....just as good as a otterbox
FYI- Trident replied to my inquiry about the screen protector, and said that the case does not come with one- it was an error during the first few days of creating the store entry. So don't expect one with the case.
Just received mine in the mail today. 3 days flat which is good going. I got the green and black and could not be happier. The rubber surround is very thick and offers a lot of protection, it will definitely protect against a serious drop.
The back of the case is a hard plastic, but it has a great rubber texture to it.
For the price you cannot go wrong. I have always used trident cases on my phones and have never been disappointed and the same goes for this case. I highly recommend it
Got mine today. I to went with the green. This is a great case I'm very pleased with it. I wish they would make one of there other series that have the screen cover but I asked on facebook an was told there is no plans on making any other series at this point

My take on Trident case
Shipping was really fast. I ordered on Monday and got it in yesterday. I got the red/black one for my G2x, and pink/black Aegis case for the Samsung Galaxy S 4g for my lady. Was really impressed with the build, the grip, and especially the tabs that cover the ports. At first I was totally happy with the size...until I put my girl's on. The design of her case was made to keep her phone both protected and without adding too much bulk to it. I admit I was jealous at first, but that all changed once my phone and case was tested. My phone got thrown about 3 feet from my really high bed, onto my really hard tiled floor. Was worried, but the case did its job. Had it not been for the design of the case, my phone would of been totaled. It really helped protecting the G2x. Overall satisfaction is at it's highest. Definitely recommend this case to anyone wanting to protect their phone without worrying too much about size. Hope this post helps

Just ordered the black one from ebay. $23 shipped... not bad.
After heavy research I decided to try this brand out. I've never owned a Trident case before but as far as protection goes, this looks like the best case out for the g2x.
We shall see!
Had a Cyclops for my vibrant ordered a blue one yesterday shipped out today. If the case in n e thing like my Cyclops for my vibrant I will be happy with it.

I just picked one up from ebay myself...ordered the blue for $21 and change with free shipping...expected delivery will be the 24-25th. I figure it will be nice to have something like this for when I'm out doing recreation, and keep my seidio for business and nightlife.

Thinnest "Tough" Case?

Hi everybody, this is my first post on these forums, although I have been reading them for over a year! Anyways, I was looking at buying a case for my Sensation that would keep it safe, but at the same time not adding to much bulk. I have narrowed it down to 4 cases, that I'm sure will all offer the level of protection I need, I am just wondering which one is the least bulky and slimmest.

I was looking at the Seidio with the kickstand, but I don't like all the exposed rubber as that would make it more lint-prone, and more difficult to get out of the pocket(one of my top pritorities).
Thanks in advance!!!

the otterbox's rubber on its case looked low grade compared to the seidios and case mates. it looked like what trident was using..
i was looking into the naztech but i didnt like how there is a bar on the top of the screen lol. id like to see a review on it. might get the case mate pop
If it helps your decision I had one otterbox which I had to have replaced thru otterbox due to silicone stretches and the phone will actually slide up and down in the case. had the replacement for about a month and just took off the second one today due to complaints of me sounding muffled and any back to the old dependable tpu case even though it is a ***** to get out my pocket and attracts lint it is my fave

Yeah it was super easy due to the hard plastic that covered the silicone layer that is one thin I miss about it and am still on the fence about putting it back on. I will say my phone survived a few high drops ( I am a cable tech and it fell from a ladder about 18 feet to concrete with out a scratch)

Wow, you just made my decision harder.... !!! Haha thanks though, i'm sure i can't go wrong with either of these cases, but I just want to know which is the best.
OK, I'm pretty sure that the Tough Case and Vertex are out:
Tough Case: I saw that the rubber wraps around the screen on the phone, and can attach lint, also, it does seem a bit bulky.
Vertex: Lack of information is difficult. From the pics I don't think it'll work out for me.
Personally I use zagg skins now. They are seriously epic. I have always hated all phone cases because of the bulk they add no matter how thin. But the zagg skins are tough...real tough. And add essentially no weight/thickness to the device. When I got mine i was trying to scratch the back and screen to no avail. zagg also offers a lifetime warranty, but I have no idea what their limits are on it. Plus you can customize it with any picture you want.
Just my opinion. Good luck with your choice.
I have both Case Mate POP and Otterbox Commuter... otterbox has far better plastic because it cant get scratched at all. The case mate pop looks like it's 10 years old after a week. Still I user POP rather than the otterbox because the rubber on otterbox is like a MAGNET for all the dirt that is around you. I used to clean the rubber, and put it in my pocket, and when I get it out it's entirely covered with dust... I don't even know what were they thinking when they were making it. Another thing about the otterbox is that the earphone jack cover never fits like it is supposed to.
I ordered this a week ago because it looks funny
http://www.case-mate.com/HTC-Sensat...-Sensation-Sensation-SE-Tut-Silicone-Case.asp
I will order the case mate tough also... I hope that will be what I want at last
Wow, thanks for the info! So which one of those has a thinner/less bulky form factor, and is easier to get in/out of your pocket?
Case
I bought a Yoobao case off of Ebay, I love it. It is very tough and thin holds the phone tight.
Ehh, thanks for the info, but I already have a TPU and while it is nice and slim, I want something with a little more protection.
I'll put my two cents in, I just got the vertex and I'm very impressed. I've had the commuter and didn't like it. The plastic seemed cheap to me and was too slick. I also had a tpu case that was ok but I didn't think it would protect very well and made the power difficult to press. The vertex is quality, looks and feels very nice and fits great.

Hi, thanks for the input! Does the back material make it easy to get in & out of pockets easily? And also, is it thinner than your otterbox?

Haven't tried the Case Mates yet, nor the Seidio, BUT:
Naztech is a POS - crappy build, plain & simple.
Otterbox's silicone is too damn loose - quoting others here.
Just saying......
Well, I've been on these forums reading for about 5 months now, but this is my first post...
I've had the Casemate Tough Case for the same amount of time I've had my Sensation; about 5 months.
The tough case's hard backing makes it very easy to slip in and out of your pocket. The only exposed rubber is a small section at the top and bottom of the phone and a very thin rim around the screen, the rest is the hard plastic. I never notice that it's collecting lint\dirt, except when I remove the case, there is a small rim of dust collected under the rubber rim, but you can't see it until the case is off.
The exposed rubber parts always look clean and smooth, same goes for the hard plastic outer shell.
The farthest I've dropped my phone with the case on is off the bar... so maybe 4 feet or so? No damage to the phone or the case.
I haven't tried out any other smartphone cases, so I don't have a large frame of reference, but I haven't had a single issue with the tough case. Hope this helps!

Have you actually tried the naztech case? I'm sitting here right now literally starting at it trying to find a problem with something and I can't. I can't compare it with the tough case but its better than the otter.
Like I said before, and I don't know if this even matters, the naztech has cut outs for all the holes on the back cover, none of the other two piece cases have that feature.
As far as the plastic, the naztech has a rubberized back which makes it easier to hold than the otter but still slides into a my pocket easy.
i think you guys should check momax case....
For what it's worth...
I picked up one of these on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055DHCKS/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
Inexpensive, fits very well, easy to slip on and off, isn't a lint magnet, reminds me of the great Boxwave slip cover I had on my Nexus One.
Highly recommended.

Diztronic tpu review!

So my flat black tpu case by Diztronic came today and let me tell you it is hands down better than anything out there and I could not be more pleased. I am comparing this to the Rearth slim case I was using and before that I also had the Ebay S line case for a couple days and while that case is also tpu, it is truly ghetto compared to this Diztronic. The fit is perfect and while buttons are covered there is still little effort needed to push them unlike many tpu cases. The feel of the case on the phone is also on the premium side and the matte black back does not attract fingerprints either. The other great feature about this case is the slightly raised lip going around the screen which is just right for anyone wanting to play music/put their phone face down. All of this is had with virtually no added bulk either. I highly recommend this case and know you will be happy with it.

It definitely looks better than the "S" TPU case, but does it offer more protection in your opinion.
It seems from your pics the lips on the front are higher than the ones on the "S"?
How good is the fit? would you say it's tight? Does the case come off easily?
Looks good, might still purchase this, although it looks exactly the same as the I-Blason case I have on my N4 already.
Hows the call quality? People complained about the official N4 bumper ruining the microphone quality so I'm wondering if it happens with this too.
I have one of these on order myself.
Would you say the Diztronic is significantly better than the Ringke Rearth Slim case? I've got the Ringke case and it doesn't fit as tight as it could around the volume rocker, too much play for my liking. Also my girlfriend hates how the four corners stick up a little from the screen (to protect the screen if its face down) she says they poke her in the ear on phone calls... Wish I had bought two of the Diztronic cases now

I don't have a case at all and I have to position the phone in a certain position on my face for anyone to hear me as it is. If a case or bumper further negates from the call quality I am going to have to pass. Even though I already ordered this and it should be here soon.
1. The call quality is not affected I already had two calls with the case on and it sounds great.
2. The lip is raised a bit more than the S case but not overly done, it will not bother you at all
3. This case feels very good on the phone, it is easy to get off it your actually trying to take it off other that that there is no annoying flex from the tpu or anything like the cheap ones (S case)
4. This is much better that the rearth slim because having this on gives me the feeling of better protecting just by how it feels in the hand and protects the entire bezel which a slim case does not do.
I may order the Diztronic shell case when that come out next week too
I think the stock bumper is stupid anyways
Haven't tried any other case for the nexus 4.but this diztronic case is easily the highest quality tpu I've ever used... Feels great. Love it.

it's definitely not the same as the i-blason case. I have two i-blason and the diztronic. the diztronic is sooo much better. i used to use their case on my gnex. very good quality.
Got my case yesterday. It fits nicely, has a good feel and looks pretty good too. Doesn't really add much bulk. The seams on 2 corners on the other hand seem a bit shoddy and looks like it might peel away over time. Curious to know if anyone else's case is like that too. Will contact Diztronic and see what they say.
I'm debating whether I should purchase this case in black or the smoke color

Just received mine as well, and YES THIS IS THE BEST CASE OUT THERE FOR THE N4 IMO
in every aspect, design, feel, protection this case is definitely the best, glad I bought this case.
Just got one. Great looking case and real nice feel. My XtremeGuard screen protector peels a bit on the corners. Any suggestions on screen protectors that wouldn't have this issue?

I would get the black one, I also thought about the smoke color since it allows you to see the nexus logo on the back which is pretty attractive. But the Distronic logo kinda overlayed the LG logo and that's a no-no for me. But since Distronic has a no-hassle free return policy, you can always return it if you're not satisfied with your purchase.

Otterbox Commuter v. Incipio DualPro v. Seidio Active

Hello all,
I've always only had the Otterbox Commuter as my one and only case for phones, and with them being so slow to get out the color I want for the S4, I was wondering if I should keep waiting for a bit longer or go with another choice like the Incipio DualPro or Seidio Active. I don't have any experience with either of them, so I'm wondering if anyone who has used them can shed some light (both good and bad) on them.
Thanks.

Incipio Dual Pro is horrible. Fitment is off and constantly slips on an end, exposing the screen with no lip coverage. Luckily it was free from the ATT store for me, but i wish i chose a different case from them. I ended up ordering a minimalist JL case from amazon anyway.
I have an Incipio case and I think it's great. Probably the best case I've had for a phone. Only like $25 too.

Consider having a look see at the Casemate Toughcase if you like the otterbox, its actually less bulky while providing better protection for the phone. I'm very surprised this case doesn't see more play here becuase its a truly good case and I get people asking my out of the blue what it is and where I purchased it. I've got probably a dozen friends on it now and I did nothing to convince them, they mauled and pawed at the case for a few and were sold. If you are of a mind you can quickly pull up a few reviews on youtube of the case.
I've been using the Seidio Active case for a few days now. I used a 10% off coupon I found searching Google and it came out to $31 shipped. I bought the one with the grooves for your fingers. Also has a kickstand. I pull out the kickstand when holding the phone and put my ring finger under the kickstand so I have a good hold of the phone and my thumb can reach more of the screen. Kickstand also comes in handy with the smart stay option so the screen won't turn off when I'm reading. It is easy to take on and off so I can get to the battery easily. All the proper cut outs are there and are lined up perfectly. Complaints - When typing or pushing the menu / back key my fat fingers will hit the edge of the case. I just have to work on using the tip of my thumb. Depending on the angle of the phone you may not be able to see the notification light. There are covers for the volume and power button which took some getting used to but I can now hit them without looking.

How well does that case work with a glass screen protector?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I have the Incipio Dual Pro Carbon now as my temporary case. The rubber is constantly coming off from around the lip. You see the silver when this happens. Not a huge deal but in a drop it won't be that good. Also the silicone grabs a little bit of lint.
Seidio active... I have it on my Nexus 7 and had it on my Note 1.... Huge lint magnet, OLD OLD design, silicone can be warped and won't lay flat in some areas.
Otterbox Commuter.... I will order one of the colored models when available. Buttons were terrible on the S3 but it seems to have an improved design....Putting the case on seems to be better than the S3... Overalll good design.
I also ordered the Cygnett Workmate... It seems to cover the issues from the other case and offers better grip... I will know in a couple of weeks.

The edges of the case do come over the top of the device to the screen side but this is only the softer inner portion of the case and I'm thinking it would work fine but I do not use screen protectors so I'm not certain. You can see it pretty clearly in some of the youtube videos of the case so you should be able to make a call from that. A link is here ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l3X7Oxgx5I and the same fellow reviews several others which might catch your interest as well.
I've included a couple pictures that show something you cant see there. The one is of my year old S3 case next to my brand new S4 case. Notice how the thing still looks new? The other seems like kind of an oddball picture but what you are looking at is the largest portion of the soft inner case and the thing to notice there is the lack of lint. While these do catch a tiny bit of lint it is very little as you can see there. I did not clean the case up, it went from my pocket to the drawer after my S4 got here.
On my S3 I have had my phone in that case directly alongside a friend who had his in a commuter case and we both agreed that this case felt better in the hand and it had a more premium feel. It also has better grip but does not hang in the pocket. He in fact is one of the people I know who ditched his case and got the Casemate instead. Now I've obviously not seen the Otterbox for the S4 yet but it appears much like the Casemate counterpart to be pretty much a rehash and I would expect that they will compare similarly again.

I bought mine (Dual Pro) at a TMob store. I totally disgaree regarding overlapping screen. It TOTALLY protects the screen via it's superb fit overlapping. Plus it has a nice "feel just holding it'. Used to have a Body Glovefor my S3. The bodyglove was on the thick side and it just didn't have the same tactile feeling when holding the phone. Mine is black with Grey...IOW two tone. Only saw it in a TMob store. Solid colors online from this link.

Man, that is some kind of funky back they have there. How does it feel? What is it?
And you said that Casemate offers better protection than the Commuter, any links to vids/proof to this? Cause if that's true, then that's a great deal. It looks like it is as bulky as the DualPro. Lastly, how are the colors with the Casemate? Got sick of all black, and that's why I've been looking elsewhere while waiting for the Commuter colors. Thanks.
Incipio DualPro
I purchased my Incipio DualPro from an AT&T store ($35 + tax) just to have something to protect the phone while I figure out what I really want as far as a case. I went in to get the cheapest thing they had but really liked the look of the fake carbon fiber which looks even better in person. But, the silicone layer is so loose and floppy that even with the stiff Plextonium frame:laugh:, it won't hold its shape leaving the bezel exposed where the fancy named frame isn't. This case had the makings of a winner.
Love this look:
Hate this:
Returned to AT&T store today!
The outer shell is plastic. It has the appearence of the knurling you see on a ratchet handle for example. In person it looks good and has a better feel than that of the Otterbox counterpart. The bulk of the case is about the same as the commuter, it is designed for protection and those who would avoid the Otterbox commuter for that reason would want to avoid it as well. That said it is slighly less bulky than its commuter counterpart because it is thinner.
As to protection there are no sure proofs, no 1000 phones dropped and here is the absolute numbers, test. You have to look at the case and make a judgement. The casemate clearly covers the corners better and has a better fit which combined with what are visibly better materials means you can pretty much figure your phone has a better chance than it does in the commuter. There is no sure thing. I had my S2 and then S3 both in the same case for those phones and while I haven't dropped the S4 yet I did have occasion to drop both of those several times and neither suffered a scratch although again no case will protect against bad luck.
In regards to the colors, I've no idea. I always go black so have never looked. Best bet might be to check the case out in a store. Its popular enough that I noticed our AT&T shop here had some on the shelf for S3s. Or if you have a case kiosk at the mall they will likely have one and you can check out the material yourself. Casemate has many other cases but I have no experience with them. I was Otterbox all the way till I ran into the toughcase which just plain out commuters the commuter at its own game. IMO
Looking at the dimensions of all the products, it looks like Casemate is the bulkiest, with Otterbox second, and Incipio DualPro the least bulkiest.
The one thing I'm not a fan of the Casemate from the pictures is that there seems to be more open exposed areas, especially at the top.
I ordered the Dual Pro case and have been waiting for it to come in.... I bought the Body Glove Dimensions case from the T-Mobile store just to have something on it until the Dual Pro case came in...The Dual Pro case looked really nice in the store but I want the white and gray one that they didn't have.. Now I'm hearing all the crappy reviews about the Dual Pro case and I'm having buyers remorse...Maybe I will get one from a good batch that will fit like a glove...UNLIKELY!!!! Anyway the Body Glove Dimensions case feels really good in my hand and looks nice however it doesn't protect anything just nice and slim.

Im not sure where you are getting your dimensions from but I can tell you from actually having both in my hand with the S3 the toughcase is slimmer. Since it appears that the Commuter is a reboot with a few minor changes just as the toughcase is for S4 I'm pretty sure you are going to see the same thing again. Also the only openings on the tough case are where the IR and headphone jacks are and the same applies on the bottom where there is no opening other than the two ports there. The Otterbox possesses exactly the same openings in their case and then unlike the otterbox the casemate piece does not have the wide open corners which are the single most likely spot for the phone to hit in a drop.
lol Sometimes you just cant let a favorite go, I do it myself. Either way you're getting a good case that stands a real chance of saving your overpriced ludicrously profitable for Samsung device so its all good. :good:

You do have to remember that those that have problems are usually the ones that take to online to complain, so just take all the amount of bad stuff with a grain of salt.

:silly: I think on the corners, they both go about it differently, Otterbox has the silicone there, and casemate has both, with the plastic outside. Bet they both have their own science reasons for doing it that way lol.
I'll wait it out a little while longer before deciding. I think my biggest concern about the casemate is that I won't like how the textured back feels.

I just saw that UAG (urban armor gear) is going to start shipping their cases soon.... might have to look into them now :/
Never had a one piece polycarbonate silicone case before.
