[Q] One X Slow Speed - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

i got my unlocked htc one x today for ATT network. I find network speed of 0.1mbps after ATT issued new micro sim card. According to ATT this device is too new for them to trouble shoot settings. tried changing new sim and new data plan but no help. Does anyone know how to fix this issue.
i use to get up to 8 mbps on my note and Nexus.

Hey, post this in the One X forum. There might be someone over there that can help you a lot quicker than having this post here. Besides, you posted this in the forum for the LTE version. The forum it needs to be in is the one for the GSM version.
Sent from my HTC Vivid using XDA app

Well, I linked this thread over in that forum and it got locked with no explanation. Maybe someone over here can actually help you. The only thing I can tell you is, have you checked that the APNs are correct?

Sounds like you need to alter your APN to AT&T's settings. Keep in mind that you will not get 4G LTE with the international One X. That will only be available on the One X(L) from AT&T.

I have the One X on ATT and I am getting 8mbs down and 2.5 up:
I did tweak the APN by making a new one; if you look there is only about two setting a little different, hope this helps.
AT&T Expanded

MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com

edit: I found the same speeds with both APNs, I did find it all depends on which test you are using, i.e. the app speed test does not work on my One X with the default APN it does on the one I wrote above, I went to man test websites using the browser in desktop mode with flash on and found one or two that said I was getting .04 mbs but most of them read the same at 7.5 to 8 mbs down. the big question is how does it behave in the real word, one word - fast!

Asian version to 4 core . excellent

APN Settings
Changed APN settings and found much better results in download speeds. Not as good as i had on my Note 4G LTE.

there is no way the One X can compare on ATT to a Note LTE, when you are in an LTE area the Note will fly

Even with quad core processor? Is there any more fine tuning can be done to settings?
Thanks for the help BTW.

once custom ROMs show up you, you will need to root you one x and install one of them, the devs will make tweaks to help everything become faster and smoother

Quad core does nothing for what you are talking about. The modem on the Galaxy Note LTE will be much faster for your data speeds, but the phone will have much more lag compared to the One X.

Sounds like you're in a cell that's already been heavily loaded. Try either around 2 PM or 1-2 AM, you should get double to triple the speed.

It was about 3pm in the AT&T store and I was the only one there. I went again to a AT&T, but this one was in the mall and it was 4PM. Got about the same speeds.
My S2 on H+ beet, the 3rd ipad on LTE, the 900 and the note in loading web pages. Video was about a tie or a win for the note. ( ipad and 900 with out flash. I could not get 1080P video to play well on the note, but it likely needed a reboot or update.)
The first time my Razr was having LTE "issues" and speed tested 400-600kbs DL and 10UP. The 2nd time it could not even pick up 4G. ( One of the AT&T reps was looking at this and he said wow that must suck.)
I still have his card and yes geting 400-600kbs sucks on LTE. I got it fixed, but it took forever.
The only way I could try at 1am is if I were to buy one and then take it back and pay a $35 restocking fee+billed for a day+more. ( I am not doing that, I will likely just wait for the S3, becuase I like my S2 a lot. First smart phone with unlimited non smart phone data and even with more then 5GB of use no text. )

Inconsistent LTE network connection?

Ok so I have been using the skyrocket since the released date on Sunday and so far it's the LTE network has been nothing but a joke to me. When LTE picks up, it does run pretty fast at avg 15-20 mps. But the problem is it keeps hanging at not loading and it doesn't appear like it would pick up the HSPA+ speed as promised by AT&T. Spent counterless times with AT&T reps and they are useless. Swapped a brand new skyrocket with a new LTE sim card and still the same problem.
I live in Boston and we do have LTE network. Does anyone else have this problem with their LTE network? Or maybe it's just the Samsung skyrocket problem? I'm thinking of switching to the HTC vivid but I wonder if any Vivid owners are having the same problem too.
It's not the phone. At&t is restricting certain web site, streaming ect. Check your plan. I'm having the same issue pretty much everyone with an unlimited grandfather data plan.

That's not what I'm encountering though. I'm just talking about facebook, espn or their default att/yahoo websites. They are hanging for minutes and wont load at all. I have to restart the phone every single time to get it to work again but it happens again in a few minutes later. It seems like AT&T LTE is not fully deployed yet.

Other then data cards these are the first phones to use LTE and the first real time, the Network is really going to be tested.
And this is ATT we are talking about. You want a good network switch to the big red.

is there a way to change the apn so it only uses the HSPA+?

I'm having the same problem as well. Certain website, Facebook ect. I notice is not the data speed or so. How is it possible that I could load certain one but not others. If the data is not working nothing would load period. So my guess at&t is restricting us.

Wasn't the whole point of 3.5G to ease the drop off from LTE when you're not in a coverage area? Instead the drop off is from LTE to no connection at all. Well played at&t.
I don't think I've seen my SR try and use 3.5G yet. It just sits there trying to load over LTE forever.
I don't think is LTE related. I'm having the same issue on HSPA+

Under you Access Point Settings click on each APN you already have then in the menu, delete them.
Next create a new APN:
Menu Key, New APN.
Name : AT&T HSPA+
Important step: tap APN and enter exactly : phone
That's it! It's literally just "phone", not kidding. Leave everything else blank including Username and Password!
Scroll down to APN Type, Select Internet only
Hit the Menu Key, and hit SAVE
Your will return to APN settings, go to the APN you just created called AT&T HSPA+, tap the dot next to the APN and make sure it turns green!
Now for the MMS settings
Step 2 : MMS Settings
At the APN settings hit the menu key again and create a new APN, call it MMS
Under APN again just type : phone
go down to MMSC and fill the fields as follows
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: MMS only
Now again hit the menu key and save. This will be your default MMS setting and you will not need to select it.
Once your back at the APN menu with the fields you just created, make sure AT&T HSPA+ still has a green got by it.
Now hit the home key, then turn your phone off and back on.

Inconsistent results in the Boston area. At home in NH on regular 4G I can surf the web, go anywhere, do anything without problems. When I'm in Boston on the LTE network during work hours it's really hit or miss as to whether or not I can reach any website. Speedtest.net says there's a "network connection error. "And when I do, it's slow....4-5 Mbps download as opposed to 17-23 Mbps I was getting 2 days ago.
Yeah it's clearly AT&T LTE in certain areas are not fully deployed yet. I live literally minutes from downtown Boston so this is a shame on AT&T. They should fix the "hanging on LTE" problem, instead switch it back to HSPA+ like they advertise.
Obviously I can just change the network to HSPA+ only and problem solved, but it defeats the purpose of having LTE network.

I'm having similar issues. Sometimes the data will work, other times it won't. I have contacted AT&T tech support numerous times now, they have a ticket open for me so we will see where it goes.
I have tried the new apn settings, resets, etc but nothing seems to work for me.

Lte settings please
I've got a rooted skyrocket and have been given the runaround too many times by AT&T reps. The most recent time was last morning, when I asked for an old iPhone to be unlocked (as per their own statement)
I've decided to get the SAME coverage at half the price ($45).
All I'd like (not really need though), is the APN settings for the LTE network, if they have that, cause I live in an AT&T LTE city
Thanks in advance

LTE seems to cause less of a load on their network. I assume so because ATT has a higher limit on LTE, and cause verizon has been giving, grandfathered in, unlimited users, a free LTE phone. Well, those with very high data usage.
This makes me assume that they would want the same for the usage of MVNOs. That would cause them to have a ST LTE option.
These may have been a series of compounded assumptions (which is never a good idea), but i wish someone would look into it

I have heard that doing the right mix between Straight Talk and AT&T LTE settings it has worked in areas of course where there is LTE but i am not sure if it was using a AT&T sim and registering it to Straight Talk or if it was just use a reg Straight Talk sim. Scored a free, unbranded GT-I9020T

So Google sent my work a Nexus S GT-I9020T to test Google offers, and we ended up not using the program, and were left with the phone. Simply, I asked if I could have it and they gave it to me.
I have T-Mobile, popped my SIM card in it, and it's working. Now it only shows up in the notification bar as 3G, but I'm getting roughly 4.5-5MB down with speed test. I can't really find the exact specs of the GT-I9020T, and whether or not it will work with T-Mobiles 4G, do I need to change the APN for MMS and all that stuff, and what ROMS can I flash?
Thanks!

first, thats not a 4G phone. secondly, those are Tmobiles 3G speeds(HSPA, not HSPA+). i see as high as just under 7mbps speeds in neck of the woods.
I didn't think it was a 4G, since my G2 got slightly higher speeds in some spots.
As simms said. You need the SPH-D720 4G version to use a 4G network. (US Version)

APN Setting for AT&T HTC ONE X - SLOW DATA

Can someone please post their default APN settings for their HTC ONE X. When I used the default AT&T PTA APN and my network speeds are TERRIBLE and very unstable, regardless of LTE or HSPA+ connection I get about 0.5MBPS at max and usually less. I made my own APN using the following CINGULAR 410 (APN settings) and get decent speeds now, though LTE doesn't work (obviously) but at least I am getting speeds now of 3MBPS roughly and the network seems far more stable. Can someone pelase advise what their APN settings are and if they have seen issues similar to this? AT&T insists there is nothing misconfigured, though there OBVIOUSLY is.

I called AT&T and they stated I am NOT being throttled as my data usage is under 5GB monthly. Further, they said if I was in fact being throttled it would be on BOTH LTE and HSPA+ which is obviously not the case as when I use the modified APN I am able to hit 6+ MBPS speeds.
Any other suggestions?

4G LTE working on T-Mobile with unlocked One X

Idk if this has been confirmed, I searched a little and didn't see anything, I have an unlocked AT&T HTC One X on T-Mobile prepaid unlimited $70 plan and just started getting LTE today at home with it, speeds went up from a best of 14mbps on H+ to 22mbps the first time I ran it on LTE. This is going to be nice being that for some reason they never block my tethering so I use it as my home internet lol.
I can't believe the upload speeds, I used to never get more than 3mbps now its hitting 16mbps lol. Hooray for unlimited uncapped 4G LTE for $70 a month, and I've ran it up to 35 gigs one month so it really is uncapped.

Lucky duck! Does anyone know if there's a website somewhere that's keeping track of this kind of data? You can't get it from T-Mobile themselves unfortunately. I'd consider leaving Straight Talk for T-Mobile if I knew I would have working data coverage in most of the places I go with LTE in my home town. I hate having to wait for wifi to do anything big. The One X in unsupported areas is so slow you couldn't google to save your life. At least with AT&T I get reasonable speeds everywhere I go except tiny little towns.

Following up on your experience with TMO and One X
I was really glad to see your post about the One X getting LTE service on T-Mobile. I just switched to T-Mobile from AT&T with quite a few phones in my family (cut my bill almost in half!) To make a long story short I popped the T-Mobile SIM in my iPhone 5 and connected straight to the LTE network. Needless to say I was surprised because T-Mobile does not make any mention of having LTE in the Sacramento, CA area, but two reps did confirm that my LTE service was here to stay. Unfortunately my iPhone 5 and a Galaxy SIII and Note II (all originally purchased for AT&T and then unlocked for T-Mobile) seem to revert to the EDGE network and then get permanently stuck there after about ten minutes of LTE. Have you noticed that happening with your One X? I've always been a big fan of the One X and I would love to have one, but I'm not sure if it supports the HSPA+ 42 network and or how well it keeps a lock on the LTE networks for T-Mobile. I'd love to hear how you like it after having a few weeks to try it out.
Thanks and sorry it's a bit off-topic, just wanna see how the One X holds up on T-Mobile's network!

I just sold my galaxy s2 (t989) because not only was it slower than my htc amaze, I just couldnt stand touchwiz. I cant understand why anyone would want to own a samsung galaxy smartphone, easier to brick, no access to hboot, nice screen, hardily any widgets, lags when switching apps, I dunno, I just realized I made a mistake trading my amaze for an s2, and I almost got a one s, but my dad has one, and I figured he would always be cool with trading me whatever I bought, so I took a $250 risk with an Att one x unlocked. I had no idea that it even had lte! Not to mention that I didnt think tmobile had lte cranked up in my city (Jax,Fl). Im very much stoked with a really nice phone that downloaded venomxl rom in less than five minutes.
I live north of Atlanta and switched to T-Mobile several months ago. They rolled our LTE this summer and so far the speeds have been great. I regularly get 25-35 mbps down and 15-20 mbps up. I only get HSPA while in my apartment, but am still able to achieve speeds in the high singles to mid-teens. Coverage here is decent although I have noticed several dead spots, most noticeably along GA400 north of town which is a major highway. Kind of unforgivable but I am hoping the spectrum purchased in the MetroPCS acquisition will better coverage since they had a big presence here as well. All in all, I am happy with the service and glad I switched from AT&T.
I get good speeds when I'm outside.
I'm on an good signal area yet I have basically unusable data inside.
I actually just wrote T-Mo a letter requesting an ETF Waiver because of the bad service.
I almost got fired because of missing a text...
