Yes, this is the correct forum. AT&T is getting the One XL, but only calling it the One X. Ive requested that we rename the forums to reflect this to avoid confusion in the future.

I agree a rename is in order. If not the One X users are going to get pretty agitated! ha.

There's really no such thing as the "One XL", that's just an unofficial monicker that people have given it. Both AT&T and Rogers are selling it as the One X.
The official model names are the HTC One X S720e for the international version and HTC One X X325e for LTE.
The forums should just be renamed "International" and "LTE".

But seriously, I agree, and the forum names should have some clarification. With people already semi-bricking their phones out of confusion, it's only going to get worse as more people get their phones.

Yeah, I noticed that. It actually used to list the One XL in more places, like on the global site (not just the Australian one.) I guess they originally planned on branding it the XL, but they've changed their minds.

Blame TSMC for not being able to fufill qualcomms orders for these chips because of their low yeild 28nm fab.
They're possibly trying to make deals with both global foundaries and United Microelectronics for use of their 28nm fabs.

Did you actually flash this? This was a pre-release version. All AT&T HOXs shipped with 1.73 or later.

Why would you ever bump a 2 month old thread...
And what are you trying to do? Use either 1.73 or 1.85, this release isn't even what the device shipped with...

the rogers one x unlocks fine. AT&T seems to have wanted their devices 'blacklisted' which clearly sucks.
@Pirateghost: how was the unlocked bootloader achieved for the AT&T Holiday? ... And I wonder if the method can be used in this case to 'break' at&t's one x bootloader.
@Paul: I'm guessing you've already sent an email to htc regarding the matter. If they reply, do share.
Like others, if this remains the case, my phone will be returned to AT&T immediately! That's an absolute joke.

That's why he mentioned the Atrix, in order to show he can understand our pain.
Right?
If it's not available on the 6th, we'll need to protest. I'm tired of this **** AT&T pulls.
What hurts them then worst is bad PR. If we make their PR worse, they'll allow it.

Warning! DO NOT FLASH OneS S3 with S4 roms or images! [TO DEVS][PREFIX][S3][S4]

After a lot of testing I have to the conclusion that the ROMs and images from the S4 cpu versions of One S is NOT compatible with the ones with the S3 cpu variants!
This includes ROM and CWM. This means also for now there is way to root the S3 one s variants. If you try flash the cwm anyway...you will screw your recovery and you can no longer hard reset the phone.
MOD AddOn:
To All Developers!!! For now, please add a prefix [S3] or [S4] to your thread title and mentioned it in OP

All T-Mobile ones will have the S4. The S3 models are only for certain Asian and European markets.
Still though that may be true I haven't checked I still think the forum should be divided by version bases EU, UK, US etc.
Even if it had to be done by sub forum for VB it's really easy to do and would clear up a lot of issues people are having over here.
Duh? Isn't this an obvious warning? Does it really need a thread? Who the hell would flash a kernel made for another soc to their phone?

Because you have not used a one S that's why you don't know. There is no way to tell physically whether the One S has an S3 or an S4 processor. No markings, no physical differences, no model name differences on the box, nothing at all. This means to most people, a one s is a one s, most people do not know there is even two versions until they flash it and its too late.

Additionally...because literally everyone assumes there is only one version of the one s, nobody states that whether their rom or cwm is for the s3 or S4 version...making it a real bummer... but as of now, unless someone specifically mentions its for the s3, DO NOT try to root or flash an image for you one s, because literally none of them out there are for one s for now
Are there any RUU's for the S3 version ?
I think the only conflicting issue would be the boot.img, so if you just flash that along with a S4 ROM you should be fine.
as for CWM, I assume there will be a line of code which specifies which device it is for, Edit it to the S3 version (VilleC?) and all should be fine.
As for the root package, That should require a simple updater-script edit and it will work !
As I told on another thread.
If partitions are the same (we need someone to check if true) the S4 roms should work with the S3 variant except for the Kernel and the boot.img . I guess a new cwm would be needed too

This is XDA we are a huge community, don't tell me we can't and nobody ever thought about asking around people's serials, part number, FCC ID and look for differences. They CAN'T be no differences. Anyway, the S3 models are 1.7GHz and the GHz is writen on the back of the box.
Yes, It will state on the box which version it is. And also in HBOOT it will say VILLEC So users will know before flashing which model they have.
If it becomes too big of a problem, Im sure we can get the mods to add a sub section. But they wont open one until we have some development and tutorials for it, Other wise it will be empty
I have requested that we get a S3 Development forum for this phone. We had a previous war about splitting the forums, but in this case, I think it's warranted. There's a decent difference here, so this distinction needs to be made and understood.

[Warning] OTA Rumor/RUU download

This is a prewarning for anyone still nieve enough to accept an ota before its been torn down and examined. The One X, brother device(EVO 4g LTE) recently received an ota that SIGNIFICANTLY improved security on the device. Changes included a new hboot(as seen in the new hox ruu leaked) along with other patches, any EVO that was not previously s OFF can no longer use the s OFF exploit, lazypanda. On top of that, EVO and hox were both able to flash radios and kernals with the unlocked bootloader. The EVO, s on with unlocked bootloader can NO LONGER flash radios or kernals. Recoveries only. I am posting this to make the community aware that this update WILL most likely implement the same security changes that were put on EVO LTE owners.
If you accept the ota, you will likely:
Lose ability to flash kernals, and radios
Lose ability to use a s OFF exploit if it becomes available on the current(non updated) hboot.
Do thank the person bringing the ruu leak to xda for developers to examine and warning us of the soon to come ota. If it weren't for him, it would just show on our devices and a good percentage would accept, clogging our forums with help me threads. Check out the ruu leak thread to thank.

Not talking about devs, who contribute something to the overall environment (I would never refer to devs as "clowns"). I'm talking about the people who start fooling around with their phones without knowing what they're doing, brick them, then post things like "Will AT&T know what I did if I return this for a warranty replacement?"
And, whether the carriers can afford it (they can) isn't the point. It's that these folks motivate the carriers to make their phones ever more locked down in order to avoid having to deal with these bogus exchanges.
Wait, you got that wrong, reason we are getting more bricked phones is because the security on this device is NEW. Can't figure it out if you don't try, trying consists of trial and error. Well you know the sweetest of the story....
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
For every guy that takes a risk and flashes something that might achieve s off, 10 people have returned their phone because the email doesn't work, or the screen is too yellow, or its too quiet.. or loud. Do you see what I'm sayin?
Normal people don't root.. they just complain. So HTC locking down the phone more isn't preventative measures for tech support or return rates... Its just HTC being sloppy. Next it'll be that source is being delayed because they don't want people to brick their phones lol

Thanks, good looking out. Some people will heed your warnings, others wont. I'm afraid this would be a little harder to overcome than the 1.85 fiasco when everyone updated before there was a root exploit. If HTC is playing with the security like this then that is a little scary to me. Damn i wish i had a little birdy at HTC. Maybe samsung is the future for rooted devices. Maybe google will open Motorola up. HTC is goin backwards

Yeah, it's definitely a concern to me. I wish they would understand and just make it easy to do. The unlock site.could have an optional S-off to go with it. I would think it would be pretty easy for these guys to design a device to be very dev friendly, and also easy to recover if/when things go bad.

They could offer new and improved to many by simply unlocking the bootloader. I maybe wrong, but my gut feeling says most people in this community are not going to be upgrading.
If your unlocked, why trade up for a phone that likely isnt going to be htcdev supported. And if your one thats stuck with locked and no root, you can expect this device to implement at minimum, the same level of /system protection as the current hoxl. HTC could go BIG and announce the X+ will be unlockable, but if you were stuck unrooted that would just piss me off all the more.

T-Mobile in the US doesn't have LTE, or will any time soon.
But I think you're right about this being for T-Mobile. I remember reading that T-Mob was coming out with a variant of the One X/X+. The (slighlty upgraded) Tegra3 chipset without LTE would make sense for T-Mobile.
Cool, the perfect thread for my completely empty, meaningless response. Today, just might be my day!
Just what we want, to support a new phone that comes out with locked bootloaders and no way to root.
I was just thinking the extra confusion it'll cause on the forums with another similar model, another brick in the wall, or several coming up I bet.

I remember before all of this it was either s off or nothing.
With my old phone the rezound, they went against Verizon's wishes and allowed us to unlock the bootloader. Basically it lost all support afterwards, became the red headed step child of Verizon you can say

Hmm, seems like T-Mobile has been messing around with their HSPA+ speeds as "part of the carrier's 4G network evolution plan" and possibly even deploy LTE-Advanced (not just LTE) in 2013: http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/14/t-mobile-lte-advanced-trials/
I don't really keep up, since its not my carrier. But I didn't think they were even on track to deploy LTE anytime soon. Well, I guess technically that's true, since it seems like they may be skipping it for LTE-Advanced, lol!

I know man, our HOX's suck all of a sudden. I can't believe how slow my phone became after reading that. It's almost unusable now.

While I understand his point and your sarcasm, I feel the same way as Stoopid2001. I have a 6 month old phone that is already being replaced. That's a bit disappointing.
That's the downside to buying Android. There's NEVER a good time to do it.

I'm not an apple fan boy, my HOX is awesome. I'm just worried that this will add to the slow death of development for our HOX. Who will buy "the old one" now?
Sadly with a lot of us not having root I feel like its not gonna make too much of a difference.

Seriously why do you think development will die for this phone? They still did not release the phone and even if they do ppl (developers) will break contracts or buy unlocked ones right away? Still there is development going for s2 but with your logic it should stop right?
Stop worrying about future dude..

Revive QHSUSB_DLOAD?

I got my HTC One X today. I went through the process of rooting it and unlocking the bootloader. I flashed the rom HERE.
I now have a bricked device. Any way to revive it?
you flashed an international version, not one meant for the One XL. Which phone do you have have, dual core or quad core???

It's dead. Sorry.
But the day you get your phone is way too soon to be rooting and romming. It's invariably the people with insufficient patience who've run into trouble with this phone. There are warnings about this incompatibility all over both One X forums, but you do need to slow down enough to see them.

Trust me I read through all the text. I never saw any warnings. It will cost $130 to fix with HTC. I'm going to call AT&T now.

I'm sure you are aware now, but we are the evita or the One XL. be careful next time.. If you were on 1.85 we could have unbricked you and you'd be a happy man on your way to flashing.. Honestly, blame AT&T and HTC for the 2.20 update locking the hboot, that is what prevents the unbrick compared to older versions

For another fallen HOXL
I hope you can get yours replaced.

I managed to brick mine not due to impatience, more the fault of the wine...... Kids, don't drink & flash.
Just stick to this forum in the future (once you get it fixed) and you won't make the same mistake again.
Thank you all for your support.
For those wanting to know, I called HTC=$130, eCom(AT&T Insurance)=$100-$125, AT&T Warranty=FREE
I explained to each and every representative that I bricked my device, it was my fault. Honestly, I think AT&T gave it to me for being honest.
I only got into this mess because my stupid self didn't see the different in the sub-forum names. It won't happen again!

Wow, really? Pretty sure AT&T isn't supposed to do that. Good for you I guess.
