SENSE 4.0 - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

New things and improvements in Sense 4.0:
- Landscape mode now also in home screen (with optimized buttons etc)
- No on-screen buttons (as on Nexus) but will adopt the 3 buttons (prev. 4)
- 3D Task manager
- Better lockscreen, with better integrated notifications, to-do-lists, notes, contacts etc.
- Updated Email client with threaded messages and improved layout (over all better email)
Smart Sync technology which syncs your email based on your usage habits

- Guest mode, lets your friends only test some basic stuff (no phone, data, and special apps)
- Better Camera - when it detects a face, it takes 5 pics and chooses the best one. (I guess a new version of Amaze cam?)
ImageSense: auto focus is 0.2sec, shutter time of 0.7sec
Dual Shutter Camera (video record and take photo at the same time!)
- DropBox integrated (25 GB for 2 years for free!)
- Beats Audio will be universal, meaning allowed in any 3rd part apps (Spotify, YouTube, Pandora, VPlayer, etc.)
- SoundHound seems to be integrated in the music app! (see pic attached in 1st post)
- SkyDrive integration (Microsofts cloud storage 25 GB free)
- Scrollable wallpapers are back. Changing wallpaper.
- Carousel and 3D effects are gone (to speed things up)
- New sounds (notifications etc)
Overall, loosing some of the bloated feel, and now being more grown up with improved speed etc.

[Q] What to Expects with Gingerbread

Like many of you, I upgraded from the Samsung Vibrant to the G2X. One of the things I really miss with the Vibrant is the detail to colors in the address book and phone navigation menu's. There is a lot of talk about Gingervread on this phone and I was just wondering of someone can tell me what we can expect from this update?
- Better Exchange Client?
- Better Calendar Client ?
- Better Contacts Client?
- More options for adding different accounts?
- Better performance?
Thanks
Max
It's mostly backend things and some slight UI modifications. The change from Froyo to Gingerbread was more noticeable on my GTab than it was on my phone.
Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) supports the following features in addition to existing 2.2 features:
New user interface design with new themes (Black themes save power)
Extra Large Screen Size supported
SIP Communication Supported (SIP Video and Audio Calling, In an operator point of view, this is feature will decrease their voice calling revenue where as user can call each other for lower rates or even free if they have good data connection)
Supports for NFC (High Frequency High Speech Data Transfer in short range)
Support for WebM/VP8 video playback, and AAC audio encoding
New audio effects such as reverb, equalization, headphone virtualization, and bass boost
Improved Copy and Paste functionality
Redesigned Multi Touch Software Keyboard
Audio, graphical, and input enhancements for game developers
New sensors support (i.e gyroscope)
Download manager for long running HTTP downloads
Enhanced support for native code
Improved power management and application control
Support for multiple cameras

I recommend downloading Go Contacts as your contact/phone manager and, if you like Facebook Photos as your contacts, use SyncMyPix. At least thats been my favorite one so far, in large part because it's a knock off of the one on my HTC Incredible. I know everybody has their own preferences though.
Alas it's Android, hop on the market and customize the thing how you like it.

Great Reply - Thank you so much
I have installed the following free apps and they have made a very nice change to the phone:
Angry Birds (all versions) can't live without them
Business Calendar ( great calendar replacement)
Amazon app Store (for those free paid apps)
Go Contacts (great phone and contacts upgrade)
handsent SMS ( Nice text messaging replacement)
Ringdroid for customizing / making new ringtones
Wallpapers ( nice wallpapers
Zedge (nice rings and alerts)
I also installed the SPB Shell - I thought it was expensive but its pretty darn cool and this phone has the horsepower to run it well.

can any one explain the systematization behind the picasa and the 3D gallery

i wonder
can any one explain me the systematization behind the picasa and the 3D gallery
the reason i am asking this is because i am confused by the way the gallery choose to order the photo it seems that it is by the order of the upload which is doesn't make sense.
another thing and more important is the way it is splitting the photos to groups
it should be by date and geolocation but what i get is:
for example,
first group (dec 8 2010) with 21 photos
second group (dec 8 2010) with 1 photo
* both groups with the same geolocation
sometimes it is split to 3 groups with the same date even photos with few minutes intervals
any ideas how to avoid this
its really bad when you have 1000 picture and instead having 10~15 groups you have 25~30
please Help
(i am using Nexus S, CM7)
UP PLease !!!
I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing it relies on the media scanner process, and service in the Android system that automatically scans your SD card for media files. And when the media scanner detects new photos, the gallery probably just throws them into their own group without considering how they relate to the other groups present. At least that's how it seems to happen.
I'm guessing the ordering of albums is so strange because it doesn't order albums. They appear in the way that they're internally cached, which will depend on a few different factors all mostly out of your control.
Honestly, I despise the default gallery with a burning passion. Sure, it's got a cheesy 3D effect that makes it all shiny and 2.0, but it's slow as hell, has several small but irritating problems (like everything you're talking about) and lacks any real features at all.
I use QuickPic myself. It's simpler: it presents your albums in a 2D grid, but it gives you a bit more control via the settings. Its big plus is, it's very fast. It picks up new images instantly, it renders the albums and individual pictures very quickly even when they're very large, and it can do so without lagging at all. The default gallery would lag like crazy whenever it tried to render newly-added content, and that's on my Evo 4G that I've done some work to optimize. I can only imagine how people deal with the default gallery on a slower phone.
Is there a version of Web Albums for ipad on Android? Or something equivalent.
The best thing about Web Album is it not only access your Picasa storage the way it is meant to be but also offers the option to cache your photos on your device (ipad).
That way, I solve the organization issue & maintains consistency across multiple devices.
Edit: Still looking for equivalent to Picasa for home videos though.... Any tips?

This program doesn't show the picasa web albums
so its not really a substitute for the Built in Gallery
Do you have any solution for that

[APP]Gallery Connect 1.0 Released!

Now available in the Android market!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.homeysoft.galleryconnect.ads
Gallery Connect is a Picture/Video app with extended features not included in the stock Gallery. Unique features:
Remote Image/Video display with UPNP/DLNA devices. This includes select 2010 and newer internet enabled TVs (LG, Samsung, Panasonic). It's a nice way to show off those holiday pictures on the big screen.
Support for JPEG, Canon and Nikon raw files (CR2 & NEF)
Support for direct reading from an SD card or any directory
Shows latest photos/videos at the top of the list
Setup:
Download
From the menu select Media Source (defaults to internal camera home) Note: /Removable/SD is SD card
Turn on Play To/UPNP Renderer Functionality on device (See next post)
Select Remote from the menu and select a device.
DLNA Devices Tested:
Windows Media Player 12 (Window 7)
LG 50PZ550 (Any 2011 internet enabled LG should work)
Panasonic DMP-BDTx10 Blu-Ray Players
XBOX 360 in Media Extender Mode
Western Digital Live Plus
Denon AVR-3311CI
Many, many more are compatible. Is your device supported?
See the official DLNA list at http://www.dlna.org/products/. Select "Play To" Receiver and Photo and/or Video.
TODO:
Slideshow. Should it hide the navigator?
Remote Images need to auto-rotate or zoom
No way to stop remote video playback (Work around: select a photo)
Remote playback is dumb. It doesn't check for device compatibility
Leaving "Remote" functionality on will prevent tablet from entering deep sleep
MTP support (direct camera connections).
Improve portrait visual support (landscape works best)
Deselected selected item on Media Source change
Add fling to change images
Notes:
Should work on any Android 2.2+ device
Remote functionality requires a Wifi enabled Android device and a UPNP/DLNA Media Renderer on the same network (LAN).
Local video playback is delegated whatever media player you may have installed.
Photo/video support is highly device dependent. As a generally rule, anything you can play off a USB drive should work via DLNA. Videos shot on phones/tablets seem to work well. Canon .mov video files seem to have audio issues on many devices (why they did not use MP4/AAC is beyond me)
Please click some ads! This is a fully functional version and I've spend 100s of hours on it. I'm not asking for your money. Just a little of your time. If enough people do it, I may be able to get a new USB cable.
Enabling Play To/DLNA
Gallery Remote should automatically detect your DLNA devices when you select remote, but you may need to enable their Media Renderer functionality. Here's how for select devices:
Windows Media Player 12 (Windows 7)
Click "Stream"
Select "Allow Remote Control of My Player..."
Confirm Changes (depending on security)
LG TV:
Turn on the TV
Select OK when it asks for permission
Panasonic Blu-Ray DMP-BDTx10:
Setup ->Player Settings ->Network ->Network Settings ->Remote Device Settings
Remote Device Operation="On"
Thank you. Works great!
Thanks for everyone that's trying it. I noticed there are a few crashes (Force closes). I'm going to attempt to fix them. I should have a new version up shortly.
Added 0.5.1 Fixes:
NPE From null Device From UPNP Parse timeout
Fixes NPE crash from MP4 with no create date
Fixed parse error from INT MAX VALUE received from UPNP Device
Added non-functional Slideshow button (Play)
Fixed copy/paste bug from chunkOffset
This is awesome...Now I need a NEW TV!,,lol..
Updated to 0.5.2
Added Slideshow functionality
Fixed crash on change Media Source with a selected File
Fixed only selecting Video caused a crash
Fixed crash on reading corrupt (zero length) or secured files
Fixed video check was using photo checked status
Updated to 0.5.3
Added Timeout for UPNPDevice Parser (should fix ThreadQueue overrun)
Updated JPEG parser to use a dynamic buffer length (should prevent BufferUnderflow)
Fixed Issue where refresh() would reparse all MediaFiles
Hopefully this release will fix the crash on scan (on start-up / after you enter the directory). If not, I'm going to have to add more logging...
Uploaded 0.7
New:
Manual Rotation
Remote Mirroring of rotation, zoom, and movement (very cool, if I do say so)
Improved Portrait Layout
Fixed:
Crash on negative count (corrupt file?)
Can't reselect a player was that was closed and reopened
Fixed "0" creatationTime causing video date to appears as Dec 31, 1969
Upload 0.7.1
Lots of bug fixes
Fixed mutliple issues with rotation corrupting the remote connection (related to Transformer bug)
Improved memory recovery on rotation/shutdown
Fixed issue with menu icons not being colored correctly (2.2)
Fixed issue where SSDP Listener was not being shutdown properly under certain scenarios
I've been mostly testing the remote stuff on my Galaxy S. It appears that 3.2.1 has a bug where it disregards the manual rotation handling and recreates the Activity. This leaked the server connection and would cause Socket in use exceptions for subsequent connections. Took the opportunity to clean up the connect/disconnect handling.
I'm getting close to posting it on the market. Anybody have any issues? Any suggestions for functionality? Any name suggestions?
Update 0.7.5
Lots of little improvements
Fling to change images/video. It's still a little clunky.
Improved Remote dialog layout
Improved disconnect efficiency
Improved (optional) logging
Changed from "Remote" to "Connect" and "Disconnect"
Bug fixes
Fixed crash if tried to move/size empty screen
Fixed bug for XML elements with no children (Crash on device scan)
I now have all the crashes I've seen fixed. Hopefully, I didn't add any new ones. I've made crash logging optional. It will present a notification. You can just click "Ok" to send it. Please leave a short description as it will help me out.
Important: I am now passing the last 20 lines from the syslog on crash/parse error. I'm only sending logs from this app and the ActivityManager. I've added extra remote logging for JPEG parser issues. It will send me the name and path of the file, but not the picture. It will send up to 3 parser logs per session.
Update 0.9
Lots of improvements
Improved start up time on large set w/status notification
Faster (mostly) stutter free thumbnail display
Removed logging and ominous permission requirement
Added Share, Camera & Exit
Auto detect of external media (SD/USB) insertion
Android Media integration (now default)
Improved icon scaling
Remote play no longer blocks, it queues the last request (no more server busy errors)
Ads
I haven't seen any crashes, hopefully I can fix this with the new version
Update 0.9.5
The last release was supposed to be the the final release, but I ended up making some major changes. Lots of new networking code.
Mostly performance and bug fixes to many minor to list, but here are the major ones:
When playing a video, you will now get a seekable progress bar and the ability to pause (stop) a video
Forced the screen to stay on during slideshow to prevent SD unmount (and app crash)
Rewrote network stack to improve device detection, play position accuracy and player notifications
Fixed bug with NOTIFY (Should improve compatibility/stability)
Reverted to my JPEG thumbnail parser
I saw no crashes with the latest version! Let hope this version is as good.
Update 0.9.6
Some minor fixes and annoyances resolved:
Wrote a custom layout handler to handle ad/video progress base location. Faster, fewer listview invalidates
Changed picture filter to ignore images <32k as opposed to specific file names.
Use my mp4 parser to agument Android's for better resolution detection.
Fixed issue where the TIFF parser was reporting errors on files < buffer size.
Hopefully, I'll get this on the market in the next month.
What's next (version 1+):
Pro version (no ads)
Better fling transitions (like Gallery)
Thumbnail view for mass operations like import (especially raw), upload and delete
Picassa (or other) image net source support
Print
Gesture based rotation
Mock ActionBar for Android < 3.0
Suggests?
Update 0.9.6.1
Fixes a couple of force closes
A tail of two releases. I've post both 0.9.6.1 and 0.9.6.1d. The "d" stands for debug. In the event of a parser crash, version "d" will send the EXIF header as part of the debug. The EXIF header primarily contains camera information at the time of shoot. It may contain things like your name, your GPS location at the time of shooting. It doesn't contain anything sensitive like user names or password. It's the same information you send when you upload a picture to Facebook or Picasa or e-mail a photo (minus the actually photo). I've gone through hoops to make sure it does not upload any part of the visual image.
I encourage the debug version as I still have a few crashes that I can't seem to nail down. I will not share the information.
Update:
Thanks! I've now found a couple of problems. First, some apps are naming GIF files a jpgs (arg). Second, some cameras are writing invalid type tags. I'm updating my code to ignore them as per the spec.
Update 9.7
Oh well, "final beta" is out the window at this point.
Enabled hardware acceleration (Image size must be < 4MP on Tranformer). Watch those thumbnails fly!
Removed custom preferences in favor of Android standard. Sorry, your old prefs will be lost.
Add new prefs for slideshow delay, hardware accelaration, max image size, remote scaling, and thumbnail list size.
Add the ability hide thumbnails (configurable by orientation). Portrait disabled by default.
Improved fling (still needs work)
Smoother transition on undersized scaling.
Improved remote scaling
Made refresh smarter
Improved handling of bad EXIF formats
Added Google Analytics
Removed all non-crash debugging. Thanks for those downloaded it!
What's left before I hit the market?
Improve fling (complicated)
Expose extended EXIF info
Figure out what will be in the pro vs the free version.
Ironically, I'll probably publicly release on BlackBerry before Android.
Update 9.7.1
Mostly bug fixes
Fixed issue where rotated items would not recenter if sized below frame size
Fixed crash due to playing an invalid item
Added check for 0 could EXIF size (in attempt to resolve out of memory crash)
Added experimental Cloud Print
Release Candidate 1
Well, it's been over 6 months in the making, but here it is. I would consider this version shippable. What's new:
Complete re-write of the touch engine, more natural fling and movement.
Complete re-write of the display engine. Images now optimized for your display for fast drawing and a crisper look.
Faster remote display
Fixed issue with Denon receivers hanging.
Too many others to list.
Release Candidate 2
Ok. Only 1 crash after a week.
Fixed MP4Parser crash due to buffer under run (I think)
Changed Name to Gallery Connect as Gallery Remote was taken. Unfortunately, it will not replace the old app. You'll have to uninstall it.
Updated Icons and Visuals
Fixed a duplicate HTTP Header issue.
Got my Google Developer account. Hopefully, I'll be putting this on the market next week!
RC2a
Ooops. Forgot to enable crash reporting in RC2
Hopefully, this will be the same as what goes on the market.
Fixes:
Smooth transitions are fixed
Fixed a crash issue if an MP4 doesn't have a MOOV record (crash on scan)
Hopefully fixed a buffer underfill issue (crash on connect)
Created new packages for the free and paid versions. This should be the final package. You'll have to manually uninstall the old version again.
Fixed a crash if you disconnect from Wifi and then attempt to reconnect if Wifi still hasn't been established.

[APP][4.0.3+] XenoAmp 0.405 (22052015) - A Slightly Different Audio Player

Download link - see bottom of OP
THE LEGEND OF XENOAMP
Do you ever get this feeling in the evening (or morning - I am not judging you!), when the music seems to be richer and more threedee, sung words become more understandable and you have a strong craving for pizza, dougnut, ice cream, or a box of chocolates? It doesn't matter if you feel like dancing or couchlocked, but when you reach for your trusty music player there comes the usual horror: HOW THE HELL DO I CREATE A PLAYLIST?! Sheesh!
So, XenoAmp was conceived on a Beach, when I was trying to create a playlist on my Rockbox-flashed Sansa Fuze, while going deeeeeep Down The Rabbit Hole.
"Click! Click! Where I was? Click! Click! Damn! Click! What was I doing? Damn! Click! Wait, what did I want?"
As much as I love Rockbox firmware, its interface is too geeky even for geekiest geeks. Man! I don't think I was ever able to create a playlist on Rockbox when I was baseline. I thought to myself: "there must be a better way!". So in the beginning I just wanted to create a wrapper for Android port of Rockbox, to make it a little less rough. Maybe even - turn it into a Pillowbox. But then, as it often happens with software, it grew. It grew only from the inside, though, as on the surface it stayed just very minimalistic: spartan "Now playing" screen with no widgets, each function accessible through a simple touch, sweep or sleight of hand. Before I throw some screenshots with explanation, check out CURRENT features (if you REALLY need to see how XenoAmp looks, resist the urge to peek at screenshots - static XenoAmp is dull, see "XenoAmp The Movie" instead).
Now the list of current features (some don't have GUI yet, but do exist). Since XenoAmp is all about music, let's begin with...
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

- Equalizer can be calibrated via automatic room correction (like Audyssey or YPAO) for optimal playback, regardress of amp/loudspeaker/place combination
- Headphones can sound as never before with audiogram-based calibrator
- Currently plays all audio formats supported by your Android version (as Rockbox is still not integrated)
- Experimental engine plays MP3, OGG, MPC, WMA, AIFF, FLAC, M4A, MP4

- Viper Audio 10-band equalizer used where available
Media library:
- Browse your collection faster than ever - see it on a 2D pinch-to-zoom-able matrix with customizable axii: Albums by artists? Albums by years? Gneres by artists? ANY combination of ID3 tags is supported. Zoom out to see the mosaic of covers, zoom in to track level! Select quickly from albums in the same row.
- Were you missing AlbumArtist tag? Well - not anymore.
- Picking from zoomable matrix too fancy? Choose your tracks the way geeks do it: with filesystem browser.
- Browse your tracks by rating, date of listening, date of adding to library, or playcount, with neat flow-style interface.
- For all anal retentive among us: synchronize your music tags to MusicBrainz and Discogs, either automatically or by scanning barcode from your original CD.
- Automatic album art downloading (your embedded ID3 cover has a priority, unless of very low quality). Art is kept as normal png images on your filesystem.
- Don't like the album art XenoAmp's fuzzy logic picked? No prob - you can always choose a better one manualy.
- Index and play your cifs media to create a real audio station for your home (when mounted via cifs.ko).
- Browse and create playlists from files on your SMB network (even without cifs.ko)
- Edit tags for a bunch of tracks or mass edit by template.
- Outside of XenoAmp: click a file in ES Explorer, Total Commander, Solid Browser or Whatever File Browser and voila: you've created a playlist from current directory contents!
- "native" XenoAmp Playlists are kept in m3u8 with absolute paths
- manage .nomedia files inside xenoamp browser
- let XenoAmp choose tracks for you: random 100 tracks, random 10 albums, random never listened tracks
- Find tracks in similar mood in your library
- Filter your collection by provider (local files, Subsonic servers, Google Music...)
Interface:
- You can't get more minimalist. Unless you turn off your display. If you more of a "hello, kitty!" person, you won't like it.
- Everything you do is just touch or sweep. Draw a circle for volume up/down.
- Managing playlists is no more a pain, you can EASILY (and I mean in a snap) create, delete and rename playlists, switch between them, append them with tracks based on any tag (artist, ALBUM ARTIST, year, genre...), shuffle, move tracks around, delete them, choose quickly across albums, toggle selection and so on. Just pull up those three dots on the bottom of the screen.
- Click playlist entry to play, drag to move up/down, sweep to delete. Touch tracks in any of available views (2d matrix, file browser, top chart) to add and remove them from choosen playlist (might be be different from currently playing), easily toggle selection.
Music services:
- 8Tracks
- Internet radio
- Google music
- Subsonic (if you friends have Subsonic servers, you can sync to all of them!)
Bits and pieces:
- Voice control
- Control via headset button
- Scrobbling to last.fm and libre.fm (via wonderful "A simple last.fm scrobbler" - get it on the Market)
- Browse into M3U* and PLS, and recursively into playlists inside them
- M3U* and PLS handle local, HTTP and SMB entries
- Browse and search internet radio directory
- Player reacts to audio jack, incoming calls, respects Android audio focus and media button interfaces.
- Displays lyrics via LyricsWiki.
- Minimalistic home screen widgets, currently 1x1, 4x1, 4x2 and 4x4
- Respects .nomedia
- Most features working on Gingerbread (API 10), could probably be made to work on Froyo (they used to, but since all my friends migrated to GB I can't say if it is still working)
- Low end machines supported, working fluently on HTC Touch Pro2 (and that's a 528 Mhz CPU!). OK, not enough memory to display covers, but still usable.
- AVRCP - as stated in this post: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/23439-avrcp-13-map-compability-current-test-build-b33-ml-2/ AVRCP should be working on AOKP ROMs for anything that supports "A simple last.fm scrobbler" (which XenoAmp does).
- Sleep timer.
- Probably a lot more bits and pieces I forgot...

FAQ
FAQ moved here: http://www.xenoamp.info/index.php/faq
Q: What other features are in the work?
Priority:
- New, short and nice tutorial (- a small button, maybe in the corner would open the contextual tutorial so if the user wants to remember something, he wouldn't need to re-trigger all the tutorials. the tutorials might be more user friendly, maybe next and back buttons or right and left sweeping, and have the same or a close background color. I'm kind of thinking of a theme concept for the app, but won't share anything before it's done.)
- Bring back pinch to zoom
secondary:
- Time display problem with >1h tracks
- Can we get some better feedback on which covers are from embedded and which not when choosing an icon for an album?
- Nagger
- add CD-like mask for cover on WPS & lockscreen
- subsonic browsing
- gmusic browsing
- fix voice search bug
further enhancments:
- "java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: Can't convert to dimension: type=0x2" in wizard
- MbID not read/written by xenoamp
- add special tags to m3u8 (proposed: sort order for autoshuffling, cursor position, playlist stack data, one-shoot track [for rockbox-style queuing])
- Music cabinet http://dilerium.se/musiccabinet/
- "Ivory" skin - it is there, but unpolished. Still ebony patches here and there
- Support multiple genres per track
- Proper support of multiple artists per track
- Guitar chords, sheet music?
- Pref: customize colors
- Tasker support - tell about media playing
- Use Volume up/down as pause
- Think about new concert view
- Smart continuator
- string filter in query view
- add label field to xeno database to enhance audiofreak factor
- Itunes synchronization (anyone able to explain what that means?)
- Find tags by Musicbrainz fingerprint

- if by any chance you notice a http server on port 41075 while running XenoAmp, it's a server that will allow streaming from your samba shares, it supports only requests of the form: http://127.0.0.1:41075/smb%3A%2F%2F<full smb path follows here>, but unless you manually create a playlist with smb:// path, this server is not stared
- If my streaming server works you'll be able to play files from your SMB shares very soon
- I think pooTunes tags are finally as expected

RELEASE 0.33
- new calibration data: LT26i, p990, GT-S5830
- fixed scrobbling
- fixed eq on jellybean
- some preliminary work to resolve system 16-step vol vs xeno 50-step vol issues, not yet perfect

EMERGENCY RELEASE 0.31
- Fixed silly playlist bug
- Fixed notification on older systems
RELEASE 0.30
- Improved gesture detection on main screen: it doesn't matter where you begin the gesture now, a real curve detection algorithm for vol/up down gesture
- Initial work on Froyo compatibility, will cause a lot of FCs probably, but should run with some further tweaking and fixing, Froyo istallation disabled, cause there's a lot of idiots who give one star if the app crashes!
- Fixed Xeno sweep widgets disappearing on sweep
- You can get into TagEditor and play, but it doesn't update anything yet (sweep header to change tracks)
- Some mindless fixes to "playing with current playlist has no effect", but then again it may correct things before I have some time to think about it
- FC bugfixes
RELEASE 0.29
- Internal changes to active playlist handling, some new bugs introduced
- Better handling of track selection: query view now shows selected tracks, filebrowser and query synchronize their status with active playlist
- Many, many LDPI fixes!
- Less strict DSP checking may enable equalizer on some devices
- Some initial work to reenable tag editor
RELEASE 0.28
- Cosmetic changes for google Play release (you might skip that one and wait for new features).
- New calibration data for: m0, inc
RELEASE 0.27
- New calibration data: shooter, SCH-R720, thunderg,
- Filebrowser: doubleclick header to play
- Filebrowser: play directory from track/dir context menu
- Filebrowser: default sort by title, not track number
- Many internal changes (playback manager, playlist manager) that should be transparent to users, unless new bugs got introduced. Should be much more memory and resource friendly when stabilised.
- Fixed black text on black background on 2.3.x
- .nomedia in Xeno directory to disable covers from being picked
- Fixed: weird behaviour on removal of current track from current playlist
RELEASE 0.24
- New calibration data: haida, cdma_targa, ST25i, LT18i, olympus, daytona

RELEASE 0.23
- Fixed some new FCs.
- Calibration data for new devices: GT-I9000B, GT-S7500L, GT-S5360B, runnymede, ST15i, hallon, grouper.
- Tutorial for those... less adventurous. Check it out, maybe you'll learn something new!
- Fixed JB volume bug on gapless playback
- Fixed room calibration phase, now it works as expected
- Embedded lyrics view
- White skin enabled, still needs much work, though.
RELEASE 0.22
- Fixed ugly 2.3.x notification to standard look
- Case insensitive sorting (might still be case sensitive in some places, so tell me)
- Headphone and room calibrators work, you have to field test them, though. May require tuning. No equalizer profiles yet, so... you'll have to remember your settings Do not turn off or rotate your device during calibration, as I didn't have time to handle it.
- Presistent playlists. Live through XenoAmp deinstallation. You have to copy you current playlists from XenoAmp data to /XenoAmp manyally
RELEASE 0.21
- Just a Hotfix for 2.3.x Androids
RELEASE 0.20 (CONSERVATIVE HOTFIX)
- Turn on Android notifications by default
- Make beta version disclaimer less intimidating
- Slow down scrolling speed on sheet
- So much for wackiness: disable horizontal dragging of rows whose length is less than screen width
- On first run after database scan main playlist is filled with 10 random albums so no more menacing "playlist empty" or pervert "touch me".
- Better use tablet screenspace
- Add notification media buttons (already on todo)
Regular changes:
- Fixed playlist name cutoff on ldpi
- New DJ: 10 random albums
- Headeset buttons - may be fixed, try it.
NEW RELEASE 0.17
- Fixed volume problem (used log as scalar, supid!)
- Fixed: exiting screens brings back to WPS (was: There is a problem, that I cannot go from playlist screen back to main screen without playing music. Pressing back key, after I e.g. enabled my BT headphones in settings then switched back to app puts me back to BT settings menu...which is frustrating. Add some sort of gesture or key for general in-app back)
- I've ordered a bluetooth receiver with media buttons to test problems with media buttons
- Fixed DSP discovery on broken ROMs. Now you can at least use Bears Audio...
- Cleaned lots of calibrator code to prepare it for GUI, outpurt of uncorrected (=useless) room frequency response in logcat
- Preliminary headphone calibration, you can hear it generating tones, but no useful adjustments are applied yet. If you want to test your ears/headphones combination, sit in a prefectly quiet environment and ask someane to take a note from logcat when you hear each freq
RELEASE 0.16
- Better responsiveness during scan.
- Fixed by brute force: Clearing currently playing playlist causes some strange side effects
- New DJ: all tracks (wonder how many tracks will make out of memory error...)
- New DJ: random 100 tracks

- Silent mode doesn't turn off on my device. How about your?
- Fixes: dsp working as expected on JB (was: Check chained dsp in JB)
RELEASE 0.14
- fix scanning on machines that have their storage monted via fuse
- save (last) scroll position in file browser mode
- fixed one FC in filebrowser
- fixed Korean (and probably all other) font displays. QUESTION: Which languages need scroll direction and prev/next directions swapped?
- fixed various database threading issues
- fixed loooooong artist display on WPS
- equalizer now has "flatten" button that will reset it and turn off to save cpu
- fixed eq display behaving strange on drag
- fixed last band on eq display looking stupid
- Turkish translation (thanks Translater)
- fixed: "The player turns silent mode off automatically".
- In your face Spinal Tap! My Amp goes to +50! Volume is now 50 steps for extreme fine tune and preserved from session to session.
- Fix temporary audiofocus loss
- How do you like new icon?
RELEASE 0.13 (Google market release)
- Fixed some crashes connected to database
- Fixed next track after sort
- Fixed FC in file browser
- Fixed various FCs from 0.12
RELEASE 0.12
- Massive amount of FC bugfixes
- Improved db interaction stability
- Incorporated Google Music Play API, and removed it again, as it created some crazy compilation memory requirements. Since Google Music is available only in the U.S.A., I need someone brave from there to test it.
- Framework for detecting your Android facilities. If after this update you don't see anything in EQ (or XenoAmp crashes immediately...) it means your EQ engine is broken. Ask your ROM chief! (was: Detect and disable cheating Androids (the ones that claim they're higher versions that really are) - this causes many FCs, because xenoamp uses features based on API level. Some ROMS clam to be JellyBean, but surprisingly don't support JellyBean APIs!)
- Nomedia management fixed
- First changes for low DPI devices, tell me if you see them in playlists and filebrowser (sheet probably left untouched).
- Low DPI devices will get Base Icon size of 100x100, meaning that covers will be kept at 100x100 pixels and existing tag/cover.jpg files will be used if greater than 100x100 px. Existing xenoamp covers won't be resised, you have to delete them (or mass resize with favourite tool).
- Put back Beats Audio hack discovery into Xeno EQs.
- Fixed nonresponsiveness while db scanning (that includes pausing current track).
- Allow zoom out in sheet by click on row name
- Pref: completely disable rating
- Pref: stop phone from locking while xenoamping
- Pref: allow Android notification bar instead of xeno (looks cr*p, but customer is always right!)
- Fixed: JellyBean - next track often out of sync with current playlist
- Did I mention media scanning improvements?
RELEASE 0.11
- Another fix for initial scanning (sheeeeesh...)
- Due to reintroducing SMB components and preparation to SMB streaming, big internal change to audiotrack object, should be transparent to users, but could also break a lot, as it is used everywhere in XenoAmp (works here, he, he...)
RELEASE 0.10
Skip
RELEASE 0.9
- Probably fixed crash on 2.x.x
- Annotated database scan so your logcats have more info
- Fixed progress circle not working in first quarter.
RELEASE 0.8
- Lockscreen widget on ICS and later - alive and kicking (earlier Androids will get only xenoampy widget, sorry! ...but then again maybe you won't be sorry if you see it)
- Finally fix this f#$!?* file scanning on all devices? Don't know. You tell me!
RELEASE 0.7
- Bugfix release, detect broken AdioFX on some devices. ("Effect library not loaded" exception)
- For me: getting crash reports from widgets, until now I wasn`t aware something`s wrong (and never had any problem with widgets)
- Test lockscreen widget, as it keeps coming back to me like a boomerang. (not visible for users)
- Bigger filesize due to reintegration of smb (not yet enabled)
RELEASE 0.6
- Managing .nomedia by Xeno file browser (requested also as: Allow user to choose which folders to scan). From file/directory context menu you can flip folder .nomedia status (works upward to highest .nomedia).
- Changing default cover image (the white-with-note one) - i think I'll start competition for replacement art. XenoAmp default cover image competition
- Switching play/pause with rating (you know what I mean?)
- Phone jack preference works as expected
- Quick and dirty: displaying results of MusicBrainz queries (no updates to db yet, as "smart" syncing still needs tuning), go to sheet view, select "Smart tag sync" from context menu. Results may vary.
- Bugfix for media scan for users who have their media mounted in /
RELEASE 0.5
- Faster initial scan - during first run only your current media folders will be scanned (only the folders that Android is aware of). If you force scan from prefs it will scan all mounted vfat, cifs and ext* media. (If you want to check this feature, or your media didn't get scanned before, PLEASE UNINSTALL COMPLETELY to remove current database).
- .nomedia is now recursive
- some bug fixes, based on your reports and BugSense
RELEASE 0.4
- Fixed db scanning on JellyBean. Media scanner will pick all mounted vfat and cifs filesystems, no unneeded directories scanned.
RELEASE 0.3
PLEASE UNINSTALL COMPLETELY BEFORE REINSTALLING!
Release 0.3 has the following fixed:
- Android 2.2.x Should be working, but since I don't have a 2.2.x machine, I can't check it.
- Completely new media scanning engine, shouldn't cause out of memory, should scan all your mounted media.
- Showing lyrics should now work every time.
- Title scrolling too fast on low DPI devices
- Clock overlapping battery on low DPI
- Pinch to zoom crash
- Sorting tracks by title and trackno in filebrowser view, sheet view and playlist widget. If you need any other kind of sort - tell me. Do remember, that playlist names and directory names have a context menu (long press) and react to click (toggle selection), so you can easily select all tracks in sheet tile or whole directory in filebrowser mode!
- Corrected date of addition to db, date of last play bug, the flow view is now fully functional
- Cover images from jpegs in folders. Priority is now: 1) mp3 embedded if bigger than 300x300, 2) any *.jp(e)g file in track's dir or parent dir, if bigger than 300x300, 3) internet search
- Lots of small bugs - THANKS TO ALL THE TESTERS!

well, that's an outstanding concept of a music-player!
i really like how it is stylish and easy to use at the same time. would really like to get my hands on it and give it a closer look, so if you need someone to test it on various roms (if you wish i'll test it on stock, cm, aokp or anything else you'd like) on a samsung galaxy s i9000, you can count me in...
greetz & keep up the good work,

Thank you for your interest. I am still correcting some minor glitches - although the player is pretty stable, as Murphy predicted, as soon as I started recording this demo to impress you, I found some new (minor) bugs. Oh - I didn't mention - the app will upload crash reports to Bugsense, hope it is ok for everyone. Mind also that you shouldn't use it yet while roaming, it has no "data off" switch yet and with amount of cover data it downloads you can quickly be billed loads of money.

I'll post apk file soon in this thread.
Some more screenshots and desc will be added in first posts later this day.

Why Nokia 808 is still solidly relevant in 2019?

1. Best camera resolution ever [Huawei P30 Pro ~8% worse], moreover: giant sensor 1/1.2”, nd filter, xenon flash, ability to take pictures at 41.5 Mpix and 40meg file size [with Osenok mod]
2. Best audio recorder [Pristine 96Khz recs with very rich harmonics ]
3. Stunning durability [Lg V30+ headphone jack broken after 1 year of careful exploitation, Nokia still running like a tank, no backlashes]
4. TOP PRIVACY: no ads, no data mining, no spyware, no voice recording, no location pinging
5. One of the best sound output [LG V30+ a bit better though]
6. Excellent screen brightness under direct sun light
7. Very lightweight operating system and apps
8. 1080FHD video: up to 20 mbit/s [with some modifications]
Also i would like to share my software list:
SISTORE – Symbian playstore (you can download almost all of apps from it)

Hope that will make sense for somebody!
Hi there! Well, actually it has more things than many modern phones don't have
Xenon flash, 2nd largest sensor (just behind the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-CM1 that has 1-inch sensor), HDMI port, 3.5 audio jack, TV-out, FM transmitter, NFC, removable battery, camera button, high-quality stereo microphones (maybe still the king in recording quality?) etc
I haven't found any Symbian category in XDA, but I would like to see one. I have plenty more apps to recommend (and hundreds installed in my 808), but I am also trying to revive some old internet-related apps to restore as much functionality as possible. You have the SIStore installed, so you can check the first app that I revived by changing it completely to the ESPN FC Web (for the soccer fans). I will keep up with the efforts, but since I am not a developer, I would appreciate any assistance from any developer. I am sharing the result for free of course.
I want to restore Clouds, News apps, New Movies/trailers, facebook chat/messenger through new API, weather apps, etc
Any assistance/advice is welcome!
And yes, 808 is still the king!
Great to hear that someone value this great device.
Ah CM1, yeah. It can be better, but not in all scenarios.
And remeber that n808 is more compact, CM1 is quite bulky.
Here is some full-sized examples of n808 mightiness (see attached zip)

Amazing photos!
In many aspects, I love the 808! It is very easy to grip and use it with one hand for sure! CM1 is not that far though. It is quite narrow, and only slightly bigger than the 808, it can also be used with one hand, and although not as easy as with the 808, sure way easier than all flagships since then (even 5.5-inch screen is considered as small nowadays!)
Nokia 808 has a better camera then some of these 100 megapixel, overrated 7 lenses in one smartphone camera type of phones lol.
