it talks about hardware disassembly, flashing and so forth.
spare parts lists asf.. but not too much on system software, unfortunately.

I did that 3x already. It won't notify me that usb cable is connected to PC. It will still charge.
This may be a stupid question, but did it connect before? Are the LG proprietary drivers loaded?

My thoughts as well. Plenty have installed this without a hitch, not to mention it has nothing to do with that part of the phone.

Yes I use to transfer files all the time.
Well then I'd say one of the modifications made by dexopt killed the pre-loading of what ever's on the phone side that talks to the LG drivers on the PC. I know a lot of folks are anxious to mod, but as flaky as the SW is on this phone and the lack of experience the devs have working with LG products caveat emptor.
Try opening the app "Rom Manager" and selecting the option "fix permissions" that will probably get you back to normal again.

No. This patch is very simple and straight-forward. Paul knows exactly what he's doing and it's been tested by tons on the O2x forums and many on these forums. His issue is isolated and almost definitely has nothing to do with the patch.

I'm not questioning the dev's skills and I know there are some rock stars that are tackling the G2X/O2X. But up until this phone, the attention paid to LG hardware has been pretty light because most of their phones have been mid-range. No one has "tons of experience on the O2X" because it's only been out a few months. LG's software implementation is funky as seen by the need for proprietary drivers, bizarre Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, radio, interaction, and treatment of SD storage. All I'm saying is that unlike HTC, Samsung, and Motorola phones this one's virgin territory.
Try going in to settings/sd card and storage. click the mass storage only box. I did this while plugged in to usb and it fixed it. I unclicked the box and its still fixed.

I tried that too. I am going to do nandroid restore.
Did doing the fix permissions not work for you? I have seen this before and fixing permissions typically will fix it.
I'm also having issues with the patch. Ever since i patched, apps that require gps no longer work, and google maps force closes every time I open it.

[Q] Ford Sync Custom Firmware?

Since Ford Sync's firmware can be updated via a thumb drive, it should be possible to create custom "ROMs" for the car, right? Has anyone tried this? I wonder if it would be possible to get some extra functionality from the car. Would be pretty cool.

I like to know this too!
I can upgrade the firmware on my Pure Digital stereo, doesn't mean I can create a custom ROM for it.

True, but given that it uses a Freescale i.MX516 ARM processor and is most likely running WEIMX (Windows Embedded), it shouldn't be impossible.

Not many things in life are impossible, but ...
Trying to get hold of any of the proprietary stuff, such as hardware drivers etc would be extremely difficult, and any form of modification would definitely void any form of insurance you may have and would quite likely be illegal as well as highly dangerous.
How would it be dangerous?
Honestly. It's a a local and Bluetooth media player and dialer. It can't stop your vehicle... At least with the base model.
I really don't see how it's dangerous to modify it, plus it is buggy as hell and likes to crash Bluetooth connectivity while you are driving and won't let a passenger make corrections while the vehicle is in motion. It's an utter trash nanny system and the updates you can get for it don't really fix any of the problems or bring anything new to the table.
It really is just begging to be hacked.
Would love to see someone do anything to this system. It even was already discontinued by Ford ages ago, and replaced with sync 3 that users a complete different system and architecture... Please some bright mind hack this and fix this s**t...

Smartphone without the "phone" part?

I almost never use my phone to communicate, and I have lately accepted and embraced my creeping paranoia. So, I'm looking for a device that does what my phone does, but without the phone, GPS, or microphone.
Does such a device exist? Is it possible to physically modify a smartphone to the same effect?

That means someone else can enable it via software too. I'm thinking more along the lines of physically disabling those components.

You can take out from the system these stuff and then unroot your phone. So no app can still install something to the system.

I'm kind of fixated on this idea of doing it at the hardware level at this point - I doubt it works that way but maybe get in there with a solder gun and pull some stuff out
Removing certain physical components would be a bad idea. If the device even turns on properly, you'll likely get crashes and FCs and whatnot. Even freezing/disabling certain functions like the phone can cause problems, since the ROM expects them to work. For example, being a phone, it has to be able to make emergency calls even without a SIM or service set up.
You could, however, use a ROM that lets you deny permissions to certain things (like calls, microphone, GPS). CyanogenMod, for example, or any of the number of ROMs that incorporate this CM feature. You'll have to disable them on a per-app basis, and you should always do a back-up first just in case things go awry.

Fm radio h955 is here

Thought I was being stupid when I couldn't get the radio to work on my h955 but it seemed that lg had not provided an app nor the capability. Radio update now available from lg. Tried it and it works very well. Not sure if everyone else knew about it or if peeps were waiting without knowing so I'm letting you all know.
Link?

Are you joking or what? Just look at Settings / General / About phone / Update Center / App Updates. There are 14 LG apps, FM Radio 4.40.14 is among them.
No not joking. When I first got my flex 2 the radio wouldn't work. I tried and tried but to no avail. I may not be able to write in programming language but I'm certainly not a dumbass as your tone denoted. I've been rooting and modding ever since I had my lg 2x (p990). The update is exactly where you said. Maybe it was firmware specific but I don't think I was the only one who had this problem and thought it would be nice to let others know. Anyways. . . . . no luck with bootloader still everyone or is flex 2 considered a dead horse?

Was your Flex in original factory condition at the same time?
Was your box sealed?
Or it was second hand phone tampered by previous owner?
(*) Wait, I take a look into LG-H955_GBR_UG_Web_V1.0_150319-1.pdf users guide and have found this: "FM radio - NOTE: This application may not be available depending on the region or service provider."
But in such situation I would expect that FM Radio will be missing in Settings / General / About phone / Update Center / App Updates too, in other words - forever.

I am sorry, but that's purely your interpretation, I don't want to say this. I was only really surprised how someone can say "but it seemed that lg had not provided an app nor the capability". That is like missing for example Camera apps or Camera capability which is mentioned too in phone specifications. But now I know that even this is possible in some regions by some service providers, see (*).

I didn't read any post about missing FM Radio app out of the box on Flex 2 so far.
Did you noticed the second post, asking for link? Your OP could be interpreted as if LG post FM Radio in Google Play for LG phones. It was reason for me to enter with my exact specification where you are able to install/update LG apps including FM Radio:

Mine was second hand but I factory reset it before I used it properly. When I tried to use the lg radio app which was already on the phone it wouldn't work. I deleted and reinstalled it but it still didn't work. I searched online to see if anyone else had a similar problem and some people stated that they couldn't use their radios either. I looked in the manual and found the same as you did that lg may not necessarily switch it on in some regions. I checked some 3rd party apps but no luck. Nothing would work so I assumed maybe mine was switched off and just listened to mp3 ect instead. Then an lg notification took me to update something else the other day and whilst doing so I spotted the radio app. As soon as I opened it I could tell that it was different from before ( an updated version I assumed ) and it worked awesome. I thought others should know. You're right, I should have said where I found it properly in my op sorry.
Some variants of the phone don't have FM radio. I think the H959 doesn't have it.

If I had a clue I would, but I don't
I suspect if you don't have the FM radio, the relevant hardware is not included although this is just a guess.
I have the ls996 and it does have an fm radio.
ls996 users have to use a third party fm radio app to use the hardware ( I verified this through the use of the NextRadio app )
though I can make use of the hardware by other means, I'm the type of person that likes to have something official from lg to tinker around with.
I run radio on LS996? No full-time program, which put the program to work FM radio?

Multitouch Issues

Hey all,
I'm having a few issues with my multitouch. Firstly using a multitouch app it picks up all of the fingers a different inputs but they flicker unless you're moving your hand around, so it's impossible to use it for games and such. I'm fairly certain that this is a hardware issue. Although it doesn't seem like it's completely broken as I can still register multiple touches, its just impossible to have continuous multiple touches. Any idea on how to fix this?

Most probably it's a hardware problem.
Could it be that it's a lose connection? Or do you think the whole screen and digitizer assembly will require replacing.

Enter *#*#2664#*#* into the dialer to run the Touchscreen diagnostic test to see if your device's active digitizer is really to blame. I don't know the code that will recalibrate the active digitizer of your device. You would probably have to send your device to Honor to get it recalibrated.
