Skyrocket LTE speed? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi I bought the skyrocket today and I'm not getting anything better then 3-5 mbps. I am in New York Queens, in Manhattan it was getting 1mbp? What is this LTE?

Perhaps because you're not on a lte network?

LTE is not live in New York yet.. it should be up before the end of 2011 though.

Are you sure about that? And if that's true do you know what areas are on? Point me to the right direction and I'll drive all day long tomorrow to test it!

How long ago and with which devices?

i have noticed spotty LTE here in housing as well. seems that the closer you are to downtown the better the speeds. i still hit 20s and mostly 12-15s and 10s for uploads.....
but when i drive through down town i still get 30mbps sometimes.

While I live about 10 miles from LTE (Doh!) I'm getting WAY faster HSPA speeds then I ever did with my iphone, I've seen 10Mbps which is pretty good for HSPA, best I ever saw on my iphone was 6.
Also when I drive into LTE I saw 27Mbps when at 5 bars, hope it doesn't take long to add in those 10 miles!

Pretty solid in DFW

Dallas is AT&T's home court, and those speeds represent. Especially that 39ms latency!!

what servers are you using? I am in dallas and getting good results with only 1 bar of service... The 38/12 is with five bars while I was in the ER with my kids last night...

Jamaica Hills in Queens. Weird to see such a disparity...
I normally get like 3-5 mbs when im @ my sisters house in the bronx. when im in manhattan it varies 5-8 in the area of 68 and park mid-town the highest i got was like 6. and right now im upstate ny in the mid-hudson valley and i only gettin maybe 1 to 1.5.
Usually when I'm at work (Harlem) I get like 1-1.5Mbps. At home on avg 2.5Mbps. I updated my radio and RIL today so ill be doing some tests later.

After installing the 2.3.4 update, my download speeds decreased from 2 mbps to 0.4 mbps, and the upload speeds decreased from 1.6 mbps to about 0.6 mbps.
Update: It's not caused by the update. I just ran a speed test on my wife's G2 and got the same results. It appears that there is a 4G outage.
U sure its not cuz of this storm? I just update to 2.3.4 and havent tried doing any bandwidth testing yet. but I constantly had around 6-7 megs and i'm also in the bronx

That sucks, dude. I'd talk to Sprint if I was you.
This was my last one:
I'm in Utah.
That's impressive.
Sprint just said there was an "outage" in Houston.
Yea it sucks here in Wilmington. But in the last half hr got a little better. I believe the towers are over tapped out. They let to many other low cost carriers use their equipment that bog that is for premium customers. Once again the unlimited data of low cost carriers is killing the sprint network.

Blame the iPhone, Houston's 3G was fine until that giant POS came out and ruined everything.
I consider my 3G "working well" if I hit 200k in Dayton, Ohio. Sprint had also promised 4G in Dayton by the end of December 2010....I'm still waiting.
Cincy and Columbus have excellent 4G coverage - I hit almost 11mb down while at a Bengals game a while back - then I return home to my 150-200k speeds

There is activity! A 2-3 mile strip along I-75 has working LTE. It's slow (about 3Mbps down) and there's not much, but it's a start!

That's crazy! I was in Nashville last night at Zanies and I was getting 15 to 16 down with 10 up and I thought that was blazing!
What good is speed when one could only use 3gb a month? I've been on the sideline thinking of switching to At&t but I'm fearful 3gb just isn't enough. I like to stream radio during the day, watch about 5 Netflix movies a week and watch one game a night of MLB baseball using the AT-bat app. Could someone tell me just how much use you get out of 3gb? Will I go over it with my usage?

Unless you must absolutely do those things on LTE; you would be fine. On LTE, you'll blow off 3 gb on just 4-5 netflix movies alone.

Those are great speeds. I envy you guys in 4mb areas. I think it is pathetic that TMO keeps advertising their great 4g network when many cities of a million people and less still don't have it. And, how I can get 6mb dl's in my driveway and then step in my house and have only edge downstairs with a little improvement upstairs. Definitely need to look for another carrier in February. All IMHO--

I too had to dump tmo due to poor coverage. I am in a 42 mbps area and got awesome speeds. But several times per week I'd be somewhere getting no service whatsoever, while my wife sitting beside me was getting full bars of 3g on AT&T. I decided the awesome speeds were not worth the poor coverage.
On the bright side, if you SIM unlock the one S it works just fine on AT&T 3g.

Man. That's some crazy good speeds. Here in Denver, CO the average speed is 1-4 mbps during peak hours on LTE, 10-20mbps during peak hours on HSPA+. Non-peak times for LTE is 15-30 mbps, non-peak times for HSPA+ 25-30 mbps. I don't even bother using LTE anymore here in Colorado. Too many people moving to this state.
About twenty minutes north of New Orleans.

I understand the download/upload weren't that good but was the cell signal good in Miami? I ask because I'm thinking of switching from ATT to TMO.
The one posted earlier was before the update. This is the latest update.
Most I have seen is 120 but average between 80-90 consistently. Uploads speeds are consistent what you see there.
