Asus Transformer Prime, Penta-Core ICS Tablet - Android General

Asus Transformer 2 (Prime) was just confirmed an hour ago, didn't see any posts about it in General so decided to throw one up myself.
Comes with Nvidia's Quad-core, or Penta-core depending on how you look at it, processor, most likely Ice Cream Sandwich if not Honeycomb with an upgrade by the end of the year. It's also thinner than both the Ipad 2 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 at only 8.3mm with a Micro-SD card slot and Mini-HDMI excluding the ports that will eventually come on the keyboard dock.
Can't post links since I don't have eight posts yet, so if you want to find more info just google Transformer Prime and I'm sure you'll get a lot more information.

kal-el chips, finally!
this thing is a bit too shiny, but i can ignore that for how epicly thin it looks, the raw power, and how great its going to be to use (taken from the transformer 1)
always wanted a transformer, maybe i can obtain one of these.
oh, here's a link. http://phandroid.com/2011/10/19/asu...nstage-and-padfone-availability-during-asiad/

Here is the highlight video of him announcing the Transfromer 2 Prime. Starts at around the 6 minute mark. I have to say that the pictures don't the actually size of the device justice. It's super super thin and looks amazing.

Hello baby, come to Papa. Been waiting for it for a while now!

Hmmm...very interesting indeed...I wonder how much will it cost..

The Tegra 3 chip uses four 1.5GHz Cortex-A9 cores, in addition to another Cortex-A9 made on a low-power process, that runs at 500MHz. When the tablet is doing mundane things like checking emails, it drops onto the low-power core to save power.
It is logically a quad-core chip, but it will switch to a single low-power core whenever possible to save power.

Put windows 8 on it and I'll buy 10

I'm glad you hate Android so much. If you didn't, you'd probably beat your wife.

No, if I buy a tablet I want a full desktop, or at least laptop experience out of it. You seem to like to make everything out to look as though I'm the bad guy and troll me even when I'm paying something a compliment. That said, I wouldn't buy an iPad, or another android tab. They're mobile OSes and I want a desktop OS for my tab.

Someone brings up the topic of a brand new Android tablet, and your response is "if it had [my favorite software-maker's OS] on it, I'd buy 10." How, exactly, is that a compliment?
Oh, right, 'cause you're a troll!

That statement was actually in relation to the razr thread, however the hardware of this looks outstanding and I'd love to see it run a desktop OS. Asus announced some new 2012 windows 8 tablets though and I'm sure at least one will use a similar chassis so no worries. If I own a tablet computer I want it to be a small computer, not a big phone.

Oh, well gosh darn. I assumed you were talking about, you know, the topic of this thread—and not some random, unrelated phone. Silly me.

Well, I suppose I missed the line about domestic abuse in the original post. Please sir, practice what you preach. Do not knock a thread off topic and then proceed to insult someone else for doing so. While we're on such a kick, please do not insult my English, I am not originally from an English speaking nation. However, looking at your posts, I could provide you with tutoring. There is no reason to turn every thread that I post in to a jumbled mess, your insistence on doing so is based on a ban you received that was not by my report.
As far as the tablet goes, it's outstanding hardware, I just don't see any current mobile OS replacing my laptop. Android is, however, getting closer and closer. Build a decent version of WINE on there and I may just pick one up.

This isn't a topic about whether or not tablets are technologically equivalent at handling the tasks of a laptop, as we could all agree they are not. (Again, I'm the one being off topic?) But I certainly agree with you. I'd like tablets to be more like laptops than phones, but (back to on topic...) the introduction of quad-core chips in tablets is certainly the right direction for accomplishing this.

To be quite honest, I don't see the core count as anything outstanding. I mean the only issue we really have with tossing these into phones is size constraints. Tablets get much larger. What's really going to matter is how they make use of such power. Without some crysis quality games, what is the point in all those cores?

lmao I've never seen a thread derailed so quickly.
You guys are badass. Keep it up!!

Amazon's now entering the tablet market with it's kindle, but this is no ordinary kindle. The Kindle Tab, has a 7 inch Capacitive color display and runs Android.
The report has leaked at TechCrunch, by MB Siegler and apparently he was not allowed to leak any pictures of the tab. But he has mentioned that the form factor of the kindle tab is much like the Blackberry PlayBook, in size and shape.
The Kindle Tablet has a back-lit colored display unlike the e-ink in the kindle currently we have, he also added that the multi-touch is more of two finger touch unlike the iPad ten finger touch.
The Android user interface Kindle Tab uses is unlike we have ever seen, it is a mix of Black & Orange and has a iTunes cover flow like interface. The favorite apps can be pinned on to desktop and the top bar shows "YOUR NAME's Kindle". To add up to the amazing UI the notifications appear in a bright orange colored tab, which looks very soothing.
There are no physical buttons on the whole tablet, but the one thing which is going to take this Android Tablet the long way is its ability to access the Amazon content store in one touch, which includes the Amazon App Store, Amazon Cloud Player, and obviously the Amazon Book Store.
The only drawback is that the tablet would not be receiving any Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich, it will run on its native Android 2.2 Froyo with Amazons custom UI.
Talking on the hardware specs, the Kindle Tab (7-inch) runs on a single core processor and has a 6GB on-board storage. It shall be available in both Wifi only and Wifi + 3G versions from the various carriers. It has a battery backup of about 10hrs, which is pretty good compared to other tablets.
The outer body is much like the Blacknerry PlayBook with its Black rubbery back, and its top positioned speakers.
The Kindle tablet is designed for dedicated book readers who love their Kindle, but need a colored version with more power, Android and NO CAMERA.
The Amazons Kindle Tab 7-inch should be hitting the market by November 2011 for 250$ only

Next time, use the correct source.

Android is just no good for tablets.
I don't understand this "ipad" or "iphone" killer phrase.
Apple has been around for a long time, they're not going anywhere.
Even with Android completely owning the marketshare, Apple is just fine where they're at.
No single Tablet/Phone/OS is going to "kill" Apple.

Lots of WinMo/Windows Phone users here. XDA's roots are from WinMo anyway.
As for his comments - I agree. Android is no good for tablets. Not necessarily because it's bad but because it's not the best. Tablets are right now novelty third choice devices behind smart phones and desktop/laptop computers. You don't need one, and you'll only think about getting one after having the first two. They're pretty much impulse buys for early adopters, and I don't think anyone outside of the Android diehards or really cheap-o's are going to go for the Android tablets. Honeycomb is half baked and the apps just aren't there. It's basically your Android phone blown up that includes the same app ecosystem that isn't anywhere near as good as iOS's. The iPad is very much the same, just more polished and with an incredibly innovative and robust app ecosystem. I think all current tablets are a waste of time.
One thing is for sure, Android isn't going to take over but Windows 8 might (and I personally think will completely dominate the market within 2-3 years).
I love these comments about Honeycomb.
While the apps to go with Android tablets don't compare to the iPad apps, yet, that doesn't mean anything for Honeycomb itself.
It's a beautiful OS. And great for tablets.
I would even go as far as making the claim that it is better than IOS is on the iPad.
Its not an android community, its a community for developers to meet and discuss. The fact that I dislike android tablets is not something that shouldn't be posted. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Android is too slow for a tablet in my opinion, I want a speedy OS for a tablet experience, I want something that feels fast, fluid, and smooth. I want something with a pleasant UI and I want something where I dont have to concern myself with app compatibility. Hell, I prefer my windows XP tablet to the current offerings. I hope windows 8 changes that. Android is just too broken for me. For every selling point there's an equally large flaw and that's my issue.

It's a predominately android community. You make comments with no information given all the time to try to start a fight and it's beyond ridiculous.
By this post you have clearly shown that you have never used Honeycomb.
Of course, I should expect this from the same person that tried to skew data for no other reason than to make Android look bad and try to stir the pot.

I have tried honeycomb, actually have it on a nexus S and on a tab. Its not any more impressive than any other build, even less so as a number of the apps dont work or display very small. As for my prior mistake that can be blamed entirely on wmpoweruser.com who reported what I said, the skewed data was on their part. I have since found out that they are a very biased site and only about 1/5 of their blogs aren't a comparison of how much better we are than android. This does not change the fact that I feel android is actually even worse than ios on tablets and that says something as ios is bad on iPhones and garish on tablets.

Please support your points by some brief explanation to each of those statements. Else, it sounds like you're just trolling OR are an android hateboy.
Keep in mind that everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, wrong/right. Some opinions are justified by plain laid facts, some are just ignorant. You seem to be the latter. I would want to treat someone like you the same way, *add to ignore list*.
Also, it doesn't really make sense using something you don't like, on your primary devices. Add to that, you're using it on smartphone too, a device not created for such an OS.
I still doubt if you've ever used honeycomb other than relying on (anti-android) blog reviews.

those aren't my primary devices, they're devices that I use to test apps and such when I do bother devving for android (which is becoming less and less frequent.) tell me, what fact do I need to back up? Even on the iPad (which is a complete joke) ios is fully hardware accelerated, plays the vast majority of the apps that the iPhone does, and that's about the only arguments I have in the ipads favor but it's more than I can say about android/honeycomb. It was and is a beta OS that was never completed. Most of the games I played on the tab either had fixed dimensions or would FC whenever I tried opening them. I would never use android devices as my primary devices, I have a dell venue pro and an aging XP tablet for that.
Ignoring the fact that "<something> killer" is a stupid phrase, what exactly is it about this tablet that is supposedly capable of killing the iPad? Cos well, I don't get it.

Maybe it hunts in packs, or drops down on unsuspecting ipads from low branches?

My confession:

Man, this is definitely the hardest thing I've ever decided to post to XDA...
Long story not-so-short: I won a GC to Best Buy for 500$ from a local gaming establishment...(read: illegal slot-machine parlor type place).
I had no idea what to get, as I already have a jillion Android devices/tables/phones/accessories and so on...
On a whim, I decided to just get an iPad 2, (just the 16GB, WIFI-only version, just to kinda see what all the hype was all about, and also due to the fact that I had played a couple of games on the store demos and was pretty impressed.)
Mind you, (and if you have ever read any of my anti-Apple rants on XDA) this was my FIRST time owning anything from the company, and I hadn't really touched an I-anything since the mid-eighties, when I used an original Mac in my high school computer lab for writing assignments..
Now, having no recent experience whatsoever with "today's" iOS, upon first use of thie thing I was greatly impressed just with the slickness of the interface overall, and the fact that the first couple of FPS's I legally bought from the app store looked and ran flawlessly (oh yeah, that Temple Run thing is also like video-crack).
I was pretty floored already, but when I decided to jailbreak it and install the basics like Cydia, installous, and Dreamboard, that's kinda when "**** got real".
I realized that many of the arguments I used online when dismissing iOS as a "real" option for someone who is into device hackery as much as I am suddenly dissolved...
No app drawer, or widgets?
No longer the case, solved by a Dreamboard theme...
No live wallpapers, or custom keyboards?
Same story.
ONLY able to use a proprietary Market for apps, music, books, movies, etc?
Solved by Installous and Cydia.
Bonus?
I can theme this thing to look and feel just like a Honeycomb tablet:
For instance, here's my current setup on this thing, and I'm really just scratching the surface of learning what can be done with it:

Here's a page that shows a couple of more themes I can 'one-click' add:
And here's a freaking app-drawer on an iOS device, something I didn't know was possible:
Basically, I'm just "coming out" and admitting that I'm actually quite smitten with this iPad, which is something I NEVER thought I would say:
(I still couldn't EVER use an iPhone as a daily because there are still a ****ton of limitations compared to Android, so that would never happen, but I gotta say, that for a tablet, even compared to my other Android tablets, right now this is my favorite....)
Please, don't hate me, fellas...(but have fun with the obvious flames that are to be expected....I just had to give props where props were due.)
Anyone else out there with a similar experience?

I have an itouch and I've used a number of iPads they are nice I'm considering getting one but I'm waiting a bit more just to see if the rumors about the iPad 3 are true. I've already got apps in iTunes that will work that I bought so not a big deal. To each their own a lot of people hate Apple I do on certain things but they do actually make some good products.
Nothing wrong with a device that makes you happy, regardless of the make/os.
Ill admit to having one for a week, but my reaction was different. After having a galaxy tab 10.1 I couldn't adjust and even with jail breaking I hated it.
Hope it continues to keep you satisfied. What most diehards on both sides often forget is there's room for both makes in the world.
The best device will always be whatever makes you happy.
Congrats on your purchase.
Mazook...i would have never thought it possible! Well it is a great device so have fun and enjoy. People bicker alot about apple/android and which is better but i feel both are great. iPads are OK, as long as you can never ever ever EVER touch iTunes. That's the deal breaker for me. I can't stand that POS. My wife has an unmodded iPad, and every time I have to update her machine, iTunes pisses me off. Heck, it even pisses her off because her bible software (Olive Tree) seems to lose settings after a major OS rev. I've had to fight with the stupid thing to get her purchases from OT back onto her device. The device itself isn't bad, although it's pretty limited for me, but iTunes is the debil, Momma!
Well since we are confessing... it was actually me who chopped down the cherry tree. George Washington is innocent! Whew! I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders!

lol...because that's the only thing my brain knows how to use: I can manipulate through home screens, sling thru apps no prob with an Android setup: it's all I've ever known: seriously, until I put that simple little Xoom theme on it, I was moving thru screens on it like a retarded baboon might: (no offense to any retarded baboons out there).
Also, to Phatman: not trying to come on XDA to "glorify" this thing: I was just pleasantly surprised by something from a company that, in the past, I always (rightfully!) bashed because of their business model and completely proprietary products: I'm just showing that I found what a difference a jailbroken device can make: I'm not selling or advocating the purchase of one: Hell, I thought I'd be the LAST person on Earth to ever own one: the ONLY idevice I've ever purchased before was a Bluetooth keyboard from Apple that I bought from Walmart, at like 2AM to test out on a Nook Color when CM first got it working: they had no other Bluetooth keyboards from other manufacturers available, and it took me like 20 minutes of just staring at the package to make up my mind a "go thru with the purchase", with all the "ethical issues" the entire buying process was creating for me....
Trust me, bro: this was far more "confession-time" than "finding new religion-time".
Edit: Robzilla: thanks for the tip about iTunes: haven't used it: now I'll know not to use it in the future.

iOS is NO DOUBT a fantastic product and device. but 2 things do bother me, and both of them are really more about business
1. i shouldnt have to jailbreak/root a device to customize it... (keyboards, themes, launchers, etc)
2. i REFUSE to buy products from a business who conducts themselves in such a sleazy manner. just like i cant stand the fanboy who justifies apples ethics because "they are superior". sounds a lot like a certain Pro-Aryan leader of the past...
other than that, im glad you are happy with it! remember, i hate APPLE, not you.

The iPad is a great product but Apple sucks as a company that's all
The iPad destroys Android tablets. The transformer prime is less usable than the iPad from early last year. I prefer Android on the phone over iOS, but Google and the manufacturers don't get what made the iPad successful, stability, convenience, and the apple store warranty process when something goes wrong, not specs and features. People go to a laptop/desktop when they want specs and features. If your customer has to pay shipping for defects or read 50 page filled forum with complaints, then you are doing it wrong.

If Samsung would only improve their update policies. People buying an iPad know apple will give them the cool new features for at least 2 years after the sale. Android buyers are becoming paralyzed because they don't know which device will be supported. Anybody with professional sales experience will tell you eliminating obstacles to buying is key, I wish Samsung would realize this.

Android buyers are becoming paralyzed because they don't know which device will be supported. Anybody with professional sales experience will tell you eliminating obstacles to buying is key, I wish Samsung would realize this.

The phones being released now are awesome out the of the box. SGII running 2.3 is good. Ice Cream update is only going to make the majority angry. Why do people think that updates that change the look of the device equates to good? It doesn't. On XDA we are an extreme minority. I wish more people would realize this. GPS works, phone works, text work, apps are awesome with many choices to pick from so what is wrong with it? Oh... it isn't running the latest android OS and that means the device isn't supported, right? Wrong. We just got another update for random fixes on a already stable device.
Here is my reasoning in regards to Apple projects or Android. If I have to go to the extreme to modify it to my liking then your not getting my money. I will not support locking down my devices. I would enjoy a free Ipad. I'd probably love it. But I'm not going to give Apple any money. I'm not going to give Motorola any love with a locked boot loader either. Or Assassin Creed for the PC, they aren't getting any support from me. The choice between Barnes and Nobles and Amazon Tablet for me is simple, Amazon because they didn't lock the boot loader.

[Q] Windows installing on Note 10.1

Hello I am new in the forum and I would like to know can I install windows 7 or 8 in Samsung Note 10.1
PLEASE HELP
You will be able to install Windows 8 on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 -- when you see a pig fly. So, keep your eyes peeled. And, let us know when you see it!
If you wanted windows why didn't you wait for the windows tablets?
At this time you can't install windows(any version except maybe 95) on an Android tablet. You need drivers that we just don't have...
Windows 8 is a closed source operating system thus it will be very hard to get it working as we do not have the drivers

Yes apply for MS licence $175000 per unit .
Though i can let you have MS licence for $800 no questions asked .
jje
you can access your desktop/laptop windows installation through a remote desktop app like splashtop remote desktop, which works pretty well. but yeah, no way to install windows directly on the tablet.
Remote desktops are very slugish though. Cant play a movie through it with out it being choppy. To you devs? Is there a remote desktop app using udp protocol? Or a mixture of udp and tcp like dns can? I think it may be the windowing that is making it choppy

This is your lucky day fella, I've ported windows 9 for you.
Wow, all of you have managed to act like the arse end of an ass. Not every person is tech savy. I seem to read so many threads where some innocent guy asks a question and 10 or 12 people just cant resist the urge to get in a dig. I wonder if you realize your not making the person who asked the question seem silly but rather making yourselves look like adolescent dorks with a nerdon. Sometimes it's ok to let a silly question go by you know.
Further more just what is so silly about his question in the first place. It is more than possible to port windows 8 RT to any device though it would be very much less than legal however any research done by windows will come across this and the 1000 threads like it and perhaps eventually lead microsoft into allowing the porting to certain devices if there were enough demand. Yes thats rather unlikely but it could happen though nothing ever happens without there being a question asked first. And what is wrong with wanting more as well. I like my tablet very much however I certainly wouldn't mind being able to duel boot windows. Yes there are some units that do this if one is interested but this is the device that we have chosen to purchase and by being here are we all not trying to make it better? So who could deny that duel booting would not make it better. Can it be done atm, no. Will it be done in the future? Probably not on this machine. Should people who are interested in such things ask if its possible? Absolutely. Without demand there will be no supply.
pc= windows. tablet: android. enough said, end of story!
as i wouldnt like a pc with android, the same goes to tablet with windows.
Without being a jerk like others, of course no, some simple reasons no dvd drive, usb drive, and really no way to port over a completely new os that is kept very private. And doing this would be a risk to any developer that tries.

I'm with you on these people behaving like idiots. Whilst there appears to be little chance of Windows on a Samsung Exynos4 device, it is not impossible to port Windows between platforms. See work done by Dark Forces Team (DFT) with Windows Phone 7 and a very limited Windows 8 on the HTC phones. Unfortunately there are enough easier targets that not many people will focus on such a hard task.

I was looking into this windows 8 on my galaxy note as well. Just because I don't have much faith in the PC world anymore and I always come to this site for the correct answers to my thoughts.
Keep seeing YouTube videos of people doing it on all sorts of tabs.
But YouTube is full of prank videos mainly.
I'm not A+ certified but I figure most aren't so I don't understand all the bad comments. Pretty sure this forum was founded for questions like this. It's not a dumb question to ask.
But trolls will be trolls I guess ....

Attn RDs: Win a CuBox from Solid-Run

Want to get started developing for these cool Android Stick Computers? Let us know your idea, and you are automatically entered for a chance to win one of three CuBox units, thanks to the kind generosity of Solid-Run!
Note: This contest is open to Recognized Developers who live in the US and UK only. Winners will be selected by myself and Elite Recognized Developer AdamOutler. More details will follow in the associated XDA Portal post, so be sure to check out www.xda-developers.com .
Good luck to all who enter!
Edit: Contest is now live! http://www.xda-developers.com/android/win-a-cubox-from-solid-run/
Aww.. I'm selecting? I was going to enter and offer to develop a way to brick one seeing as how their website says they're Unbrickable for developers.. Sounds like a challenge. Someone else do this for me
I would consider toying with XBMC, linux, android or whatever i can toy with on it and look at trying to do an AOSP/Cyanogenmod build on it if its possible. Its very low powered, but appears to have some kernel source available. Is it feasible to be done? no idea. Would have to take a shot at it to find out.
Thanks,
-h8rift
EDIT: Just re-read Adam's note...yeah i'm sure i'll brick it along the way and let you know how it goes, hehe.
I just got the acceptance letter for RD a couple days ago (proof, I'm also sure a member of the developer committee could confirm this), but it's not set on my profile yet.
What I'd like to try with the box is getting an interface set up on it to use it as a car stereo with a touchscreen mounted in the dashboard. I've set up a similar system with an old netbook I have, but power requirements for the netbook raise some issues, mainly with draining my car battery. A lightweight ARM system could largely mitigate, if not completely solve this issue.
There are also space issues. I would like something that I can mount to the back of an LCD and have in a contained easy-to-remove unit, instead of having to run power and VGA cords through my dash.
I also would like to use it as a system for managing my door locks, with a USB keypad possibly stuck in the back of my truck bed, where I can enter a pin and have it lock/unlock my doors. I would also like to try to use a fingerprint scanner to unlock the doors.
Here's some pictures of what I have now:
Picture 1
Picture 2
Picture 3
Picture 4 Don't worry, I've cleaned the wiring since then
Picture 5 XBMC with a modified Xeebo skin. This is the best media player I've found for the job. I was using Winamp at first, but XBMC has cool visualizations and whatnot.
Picture 6 Closer up, I've since filled in that top metal bar with a sharpie
Picture 7 Cleaner wiring, though still a bit messy. Note that my truck is old enough that I don't have a passenger airbag.
Not shown: I've got an acutator in the driver-side door, and a circuit that I built to accept TTL-level voltages and trigger it (essentially two relays making an H bridge, powered by two transistors that get set high by the TTL input. Both relays are ground open and charged closed, so I can set either one high and control the actuator)
Edit: Just to note, I had previously designed this to work with a RPi, but I found it a bit lackluster and not fast enough for what I wanted. Not to mention it inexplicably died one day.
Hello everybody!
First I need to say, that I'm from Hungary, not from US or UK, but I'm really interested in this, so I give it a try. (I can pay for shipping if required.)
Android is my favourite OS, so I would like to make CyanogenMod configuration for this device first. When it's ready I would like to play with linux too and developing ROM's with ubuntu. I have access to the xda build server, so it will be a good pair for the developing.
I wanted to buy an RPi a long time ago, but I didn't have enough money to buy it. If I get one of three CuBox now, i won't betray XDA. All my development for/with this device will be public here.
Thank you for your attention!
atis112
PS: Unbrickable? As Adam said it's a challenge.

Very nice! Looking forward to see what the devs can do with this baby
For all you that didn't read the Portal Post/OP: It's for Recognized Devs only!
Well, if I had one of these devices I'd work on Linux integration into Android.
So what does this mean:
Most developers have a separate machine for doing particular work on their devices, or even any kind of developing in general aside from their Android devices. With Android devices starting to become more powerful than my laptop (and cheaper than when I bought my laptop), we SHOULD be able to harness Android's underbelly to do more things like developing and compiling directly on them, on the fly, and on the go.
Some people suggest using Ubuntu or some other Linux distro for ARM, but that isn't always the most user friendly thing on a smaller screen. Unlike Android which we already know is pretty user friendly.
Now there are some applications that exist that create development type environments for Android but why not just create a toolchain to compile Linux applications for the Android OS so that they're compatible with the Bionic C library?
So in it's most basic form, I'd be making use of this box to test, create and integrate Linux programs into binaries that Android users can use to their hearts content
As for the technicalities, I have a US shipping address, so that won't be a problem.
and @Adam: you can be sure I'll check to see if it's really unbrickable. I have a thing for bricks.. I'm curious to see how unbrickable their "unbrickable" is. If there's a method, I'll publish it :silly:
Please abstent to post no RD members. Thanks

What more could be done to get more entries? It already had a news article posted.
That being said, I'd find it unfair towards myself and the other entrants if it was extended, since we entered during the timeframe it was initially supposed to last for.
Below are a few (of many) ideas I have had for the CuBox
A small headless server for my command center... err.. I mean house.
central file server, VPN server, webserver
Not sure if there is a stable xbmc distro, and if not, work on that.
Update server for my desktop/mobile applications
More on the development side of things, I'd like to turn it into somewhat of an all-purpose toolkit for Android devices and write a corresponding mobile application using the AOA protocol. I'm thinking somewhat along the lines of Adam's rooting box meets mskip's Samsung/Nexus toolkits. Also, working on bringing CyanogenMOD to it would be another priority.

I look forward to seeing the results and wish everyone good luck!

Why does samsung have to be a bunch of dkheads!!!!

Why Dont they release One phone for ALL This is one downfall of these money hungry FKRS... Korea apparently get the 1.8ghz clocked Octa core WITH LTE ---- WHY CANT WE ALL GET THIS ONE, WHATS THERE FKN PROBLEM.. MTHR-BEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!!!!!... Most other countries will get the I9505 snapdragon and other countries will get the I9500, And here is where is becomes REAL stupid... 60-70% of sites say the I9500 will come only in 3G 30-40% say it can support LTE in some countries.
Some ridiculous news I heard
Samsung did not have enough parts, so they used the S600 to fufill there stock.
Some developers can unlock the i9500 so they it works on LTE
The LTE exynos is bad on battery ( BS ) I own the I9305 its the SAME BATTERY LIFE as the I9300 I owned them both, I DIDNT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCE
ITS 2013 EVERYPHONE SHOULD COME WITH 4G STANDARD!!!!!!!!
Guys Is the S4 I9500 going to support LTE or not and why are so many places saying it can and and so many saying no... If someone knows anything, do you know what LTE bands it will be
Surprised to see a senior member post this. You can have your exynos octa. I'll take my superior gpu and be on my way
Wow.... switch to decaf?
Sorry I just snapped it.... LOL
I really dont care if its Octa or Quad or what ever.. Why do they need more then one variant... I wasnt happy about the I9305 but I said ahh maybe they made a mistake and realized we should of brought out all the phones with LTE and 2gb ram.... But no it happens again... Ah well life goes on Rant over...
So really is the I9500 LTE or not... And why are there so many places saying it is and vice versa.. Anyone have it in there hands already that actually know?
There's so much ignorance in the OP... and I don't mean that to be disrespectful.
Samsung is one of the only companies that is capable of doing such a giant world wide launch in every country producing millions and millions of HIGH END phones for everyone at once.
No one is capable of doing this, not Apple or HTC.
Apple slowly releases the iPhone out in regions. HTC doesn't sell as well as Samsung does.
Look at it at a business standpoint. That's all I can say.

But haven't you seen the benchmarks? They are nearly identical in performance. One isn't going to outperform the other by a noticeable margin. And if there are regions without LTE, then why put LTE chips in those phones? Even if a LTE chip cost $1, that's a few millions of dollars that add up in these regions. That could cut cost on your next TV, Phone or samsung designed toilet.
My i9300 outperforms my GF's i747 in benchmarks but there's nothing I've ever done that her phone couldn't do.
I'll just leave it at this. You're possibly one out of a million consumer that feels this way. The other consumers probably don't care and will never notice the benchmark differences. They will have a phone that functions like another SGS4.
In a research study, people were blindfolded when drinking various water bottles. Most of them chose plain American tap water as the best tasting water.
I do hope that one day Samsung is capable of just making 1 phone for development reasons. But if this allows me to enjoy a SGS at a great price optimized for my region and I don't have to wait 6 months like I did with my ATT Captivate I'm happy!
