[ROM] 01-09-11 Ganbarou ROM V1.1 - Vega Android Development

Last version of this ROM.
I messed up SP1. I am sorry for this.
V1.1 is availale now.
A small update for my latest tablet ROM with a some bug fixes and improvements.
Based on stock ROM V1.10, spiced up with Corvus amazing kernel for Android 2.2 and tweaked a little bit for 3G and GPS use.
It includes:
Live wallpapers
Fixed problem with screen calibration application
Added Suspend mode by short press of power button
Small graphical changes in the status bar

Some users were complaining that Live Wallpapers are missing. Ok, here you get them back.
In V 1.0 I included a wrong version of the screen calibration utility that caused FC. this fix includes a working version.
I found as well a solution to enter the suspend mode by just pressing the power button. The behaviour is now like:
Short press (~2 sec) => tablet enters suspend mode
Medium long press (~4 sec) => power option menu is shown
Long press (>8 sec) => tablet switches complete off
The full ROM is in the ROM download section.
If you are coming from another ROM then I strongly suggest a full wipe of Data, Cache and Dalvik-Cache, otherwise the ROM might not work correct.
And as usual: You use this ROM on your own risk. I am not responsible if you break your device, loose warranty, get into a fight with your wife or loose important company data from your SDcard.

It is based on Stock V1.10 ROM (Android 2.2) and I didn't remove any languages.
Just can't tell you which languages are in, as I have HoneyComb now on my Viewpad.
HoneyComb is as well the reason why I stop working on this ROM.

You're welcome. Sorry for the long delay, but due to some change at my work I had not much time to play with Android.

Can you adjust the cache size so that we can run 40mb plus app?

It is possible, but needs a different type of installation. A ROM flashed through CWM cannot change the partitions sizes. I need to create an exe file with a changed partition size like explained here.
Or you can try the workaround from MoDaCo forum.
[EDIT]
Just created a basic ROM that changes your cache partition to 40MB. Check my post 40MB cache size for Vega stock ROMs to see how it works.
[/EDIT]

I'm currently using your v1.1 rom on my viewpad 10s, but the main problem is the device use only 2g mode and never use 3g/wcdma mode, is there any tools to activate 3g/wcdma mode?since I use my viewpad for mobile, I need 3g mode very much

Sounds strange, I have no idea why it is in 2G mode instead of 3G. My Viewpad 10s is on 3G all the time.
Try one of the switchers, like widgetsoid or 2G-3G OnOff if it can switch the status.

3g/2g problem solved after reboot
Next question is, how can I switch between app using longpress home screen icon like cm7 mod?

Doesn't work. I use Button Savior. With that I have the buttons on the screen even in apps that close the status bar. And there the long press on home screen icon brings up the list of apps.

Because I forgot to change it.

hello, today I wanted to test your ROM, i have downloaded this file and flashed on my tablet. After flashing my tablet remains on black screen when I want to open, what can I do to enter in CLOCKWORKMOD for restore from last backup?
I was not careful, now I saw that the file was updated to v1.1 if I had v1.0 installed on the tablet.
Can I do anything to recover my tablet back?
thanks.

You could nvflash original stock or modded stock v2 to get your tablet back up and running, if you use modded stock then you will have access to clockworkmod again.

how can I start 3g mode?
Finaly, I installed this ROM, but I can't start 3g mode or mobile network mode, in setting I can't find anything about 3g or sim or something like that. I need to install some application for 3g mode?
I've posted here details about my tablet and 3g modem.
Thanks.

Bluetooth not working
Hi Yamen,
Thanx for your guide on froyo for spica! But unfortunately I came to know abou this firmware only after screwing my spica i5700 with one of the kitchen cooked firmware by Lekshas on samdroid forum.
Everything else is working fine apart from the bluetooth which dose not get started even after much of tapping and restarting it still is not working.
My question is if I follow this particular kitchen cooked firware will it get the bluetooth functionality back ?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
esameer

1 - Reboot in download mode (Power + camera + Volume Down)
2 - Apply File (i5700_LK2-08_PDA.tar) with ODIN (attached too)
3 - After auto booting shutdown your Phone.
4 - Boot in recovery mode (Power + Volume Down + Hang UP (Green))
i suggest then to apply "LK2.10.beta3_update.zip" by (apply any zip from sd card.
then you'll have an updated recovery menu that let you convert your file system to EXT2/4 instead of RFS.
Then u can upgrade well to Froyo.
Good Luck.
thank you very much. I'll try and let you know.
Tahnks!

with lk 3.01 u can convert your phone file system from RFS to EXT2 for system and cache and EXT4 for data, then u have booted your phone to use well the froyo mod.
furthermore u can optimize free space using app2sd from samdroid tool menu and rebooting.
this feature let u retreive your apps while upgrading to froyo.

install the defy.zip from galnet in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088663 it works better than the miui official version
then install the language pack http://packs.miuiandroid.com/miuiandroid-1.5.20_Defy-EN-PACK1_2.3.4.zip to get complete english language (galnet one wasn't fully english for me don't know why, just install it just in case)
if all is in chinese and you don't know were language is do this:
1. press menu key
2. select middle option from down row (Settings in chinese letters)
3.select third column from topmost row (System)
4.scroll down where there are 3 options in it. (System and hardware)
5.select second option from it (language and input settings)
6. select second option from the menu opened it will show langauges. (Select language)
7. select us or uk
afterwards i went to recovery wipe cache & advance wipe dalvic cache
install 3D opengls from bihariel he's also in this forum in order to get smoother gaming http://forums.miuiandroid.com/showthread.php?6310-3D-opengls-improvement-patch (can someone put up the link from this forum just showing the post were he posts it? I don't know how thx )
for battery % flash battery step from quarx's thread it works correctly (hope you don't mind) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654&page=370 for me it worked, you must wipe cache dalvik and data and install everything together to make it work in the order I put it in this post
I also installed the fixbrightness.zip from hypermagik posted by quarx which it is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13781939&postcount=3534
finally I also installed swype from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1086993
I also had gps problems, but if you go to miui and gps configuration changing the china one by this one europe.pool.ntp.org
if not you can download the gps and agps fix and install it, the first option worked for me but did both and I have a bettery accuracy in google maps (from 60 to 40)
EDIT: The best option to solve gps is installing this one from recovery! http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=184
also for green lens install this from bihariel http://www.multiupload.com/SR5T1CGSS1
I have no merit of anything, just wanted to make a thread with all the stuff I found for miui working better and solving some problems like the gps, camara green lens or others!
If someone is not happy from me posting his work (although I've named it) pm me and I will remove it. Thanks for your work!
good job!! thx
Great post, help a LOT of peeps.
Could you plz explain more about how to fix GPS problem? Thx
i flashed english lng still i am seeing chinese
make sure you choose english us or uk than flash englisch lng than go to recovery wipe cache & advance wipe dalvic cache ...

nope, I'm very happy with this version there are no lags or freezes and battery life is perfect, if you have green lens maybe you have problems with the camera but you have the fix in this thread! its great this rom!

[ROM] EmeralD v0.83b XXLA2 based European ROM[WIP]

Well, I started to cook this ROM weeks ago, but in the meantime other projects (eg Odin-able ROMS) got higher priority, and this one had little progess in the recent time.
Unfortunately today I've bricked my little Y by experimenting custom bootloaders, so I'm affraid I have to devoid the developement for the next couple of days/weeks.
Therefore I'm publishing it, what I have done up to now.
EmeralD Stock+ ROM v0.83b
While I'm fairly OK with the stock theme, I did minimal changes:
- based on XXLA2 (latest European build with OXX CSCs
- contains all stock apps (you can remove from the zip which you find surplus)
- deodexed, optimized, zipaligned
- pre-rooted and busybox preinstalled
- numeric and animated battery % indicator
- green circle status bar icons
- green overscroll glow
- lidroid's 14 status bar toggle
- boot sound removed
- Swype keyboard for the following languages:
EnglishUK, EnglishUS, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Korean, PortuguesePT, Romanian, SerbianLA, Slovenian, Spanish
Sorry the work is unfinished yet, but it's (hopefully) 100% working, there are no known issues.
INSTALL GUIDE:
- download stock XXLA2
- download Emerald ROM v0.83b
- copy EmeralDv083.zip to your SD Card
- do backup of your current data
- reboot to download mode, and flash XXLA2 via ODIN (short flashing guide here)
- let start the system, then shut down
- start recovery mode (Vol UP + Home + Power)
- select Apply update from SD card - and browse for EmeralDv083.zip, then apply
- the install take about 30 sec
- reboot system
- the first boot takes 2-4 minutes (blank screen). If it's longer, any you see boot loop then boot to recovery, and wipe data!
- after system up and running, set your CSC by *#272*<_your_imei_>#
- if you need other CSC, try email.filtering's CSC pack!
Your comments are welcome!
sorry, no current screenshots, my device is currenty out of order

@Doky73 Cant you use ODIN to repair your bricked phone?
This rom is good to go. Most of apps that i trested are functional.
Bootanimation needs to be fixed, because there is a lag of black screen after every restart giving a false indication that phone will not start

soft bricked phone can be revived but if it is hard bricked that means not even going to download mode then its hard to recover

I'ts intentional. The boot animation takes 15 sec then terminated, because i found that boot anim takes big CPU consumption, therefore multiplies the boot time (2-3 times)
I'll take a notice in the install guide that blank screen is normal.
(well, I already did it, You were unperceptive ;-) )

Well, It's hard bricked, for sure I've **cked up the sbl. Sadly I know, what I did, JIG does not help as well.
But stay on the topic, about my ROM!
Just installed it and cleaned it up a bit (deleted unwanted apps etc) and it runs great.
Thanks...kudoos for u
I've removed some unused apps from . Zip system apps. But now i get low memory (not RAM) notifications with same app-count from stock rom (titanium restore). In stock rom I never got low mem notification. What can I do? App mamagement shows 45 MB of free space on phone, but I can't install a small app like flashplayer for amr6 prozessors wich i could install under stock rom. I don't think that flash player needs installed more than 45 MB.

Try clear cache in recovery first, then give a chance again to install any app!

All done. Flashed xxal2 with odin, than back to recovery, clear cache and factory reset and install zip. Restart, recovery and clear cache. Then titanium restore, wich is staple installing, app after app.
But now with some apps with titanium to sd-card it's running.
Nice work.
Edit: I've no bootsound!

Yepp, I forgot! I's a feature! I've removed the annoying boot sound
If you really need it, rename /system/etc/poweron.og_ to /system/etc/poweron.ogg (via root explorer). If no success, I can make a recovery script to restore the boot sound.
Hello sir, Im from Malaysia (Asian). Will my phone work if I flash with this ROM? Sorry for a noob question. Wonder whether different firmware will work in this ROM which is XX instead of my Asian firmware, DX.

If you already installed EmeralD ROM, then pull down the notification page, select the last but one button from the 14 togle, "reboot" then select "Recovery"
If no 14 toggles,
- then power off the phone
- remove battery
- resinsert battery, wait 30 sec
- press Vol Up, Home, Power at the same time
- when Galaxy Y logo appears, release the Power button
- when Recovery menu appears, release the Home button first, then finally Vol Up
You are in the recovery menu. Select wipe cache (by Vol Up, Vol Down, and Home buttons)

Installation Instructions
IMPORTANT! READ BEFORE FLASHING!
1. If you flash this ROM from Stock ROM, it will wipe data due to different partitioning. The device would reboot while flashing and resume again.
2. Once on this ROM, the most effective way of going back to any other ROM would be to repartition from Odin.
3. While converting the filesystem, your efs that has your IMEI is backed up to /emmc/backup/efs. Keep a backup on your PC just in case.
4. Incase if you don't get a network signal, check if your IMEI and Baseband are proper. If not, go back to stock and try again.
5. Do NOT use Odin to flash Modems. Due to different partitions, Odin will screw up your existing MTD setup.
Stock ROM
1. Flash CWM Compatible Kernel (CF ROOT)
2. Reboot to Recovery.
3. Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
4. Select the ROM zip from your SD Card and flash.
5. The device will reboot and finish flashing.
6. Reboot to Recovery Again.
7. Flash Google Apps.
8. Reboot
Any other AOSP ROM (CM7/MIUI/CM9)
1. Reboot to Recovery.
3. Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
4. Select the ROM zip from your SD Card and flash.
5. The device will reboot and finish flashing.
6. Reboot to Recovery Again.
7. Flash Google Apps.
8. Reboot
Upgrading from previous versions of CM10
1. Reboot to Recovery.
2. Select the ROM zip from your SD Card and flash.
3. Flash Google Apps.
4. Reboot

P.S. This is my first discussion thread on XDA, so feel free to let me know of any issues.
i had flashed the latest 23 nov nightly build.
I havent faced any sod, resets and its almost stable. In the latest build, i find battery backup better.
I am waiting for swap sd in this rom. Again thumbsup to dhiru for keeping this mobile alive.
i found a small problem with charging. Once the phone is fully charged and kept on charger, the phone doesnt charge again when it discharges. I think its not trickle charging.
Choppy sound on applications
I'm running this on my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II, I've noticed that the sound on certain apps gets horribly choppy. I have noticed this on both Galaxy on Fire II and Star Wars Tiny Death Star. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a fix?
Very good battery life with ART in 1121 build, but whatsapp not working, overall slight lag,.

Is it trickle charging successfully? 21nov build has that weird problem.

Also, after flashing cm11, don't do factory reset. just wipe cache, dalvik cache and battery stats. try and if problems still happen, post in the above thread.
