help please - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

im torn between what phone should i choose. can you guys help out? its between the sensation or mytouch 4g slide. i really like the slide because of the camera apart from that the slide is very similar to the sensation other than the camera. what should i choose? i like the slide because of the better camera and a plus because of the keyboard (but i dont really mind the keyboard)

Slide has better battery life and a keyboard.

They're pretty comparable devices, and I'd say once custom ROMs are available they'll probably even out in terms of features and software so I'd go with whichever hardware you like better. That's what I did, so I went with the slide because of the camera/keyboard. As soon as this gets overclock and custom ROMs it's going to be unbeatable for a while.

Is the sensation's 1.2 GHz dual core processor a snapdragon?
I couldn't find any documentation that says it is.
I wouldn't consider a device that wasn't, it's the next step in processing ability on these devices.

Hey the HTC Sensation and MyTouch 4G Slide both have Snapdragon processors, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(system_on_chip). You can see there on the table that both of them have the same Snapdragon S3 MSM8260 dual-core processor.
In terms of hardware both of the phones are almost the same but the Sensation has a bigger screen (4.3 inches vs 3.7 in the MyTouch 4G Slide) and no keyboard.
So basically the decision you have to make is bigger screen + lighter phone (MyTouch 4G Slide is almost 40 grams heavier so it is quite noticeable) or smaller screen + physical keyboard. I personally love having a physical keyboard on my phone plus I have a tablet so I wasn't looking for a huge screen, personal preferences, both are great phones either way. Good luck

The Sensation and myTouch 4G Slide have the same guts. The difference is that the myTouch 4G Slide has a better camera and a keyboard. While the sensation has a bigger screen and its a bar phone. I personally went with the slide because of the keyboard i love qwerty phones.

Good to know, thanks. HTC was a bit vague on this. When I was looking for myself to make a purchase, the hardware keyboard was a necessity so the sensation didn't get looked at too closely.

I went with a slide after using them both. For me, the camera was the issue. I think ppl underestimate how good this camera is. HTC hypes it a lot but I don't hear users much. It's significantly better than the sensation camera. It's significantly better than the iPhone and any other Android camera (yes, better than the sgs2 camera).

Also the speaker is way better quality than the Sensation. I came from the G2x and can say I will never look back unless I am in desperate need of cash. This phone is surprisingly thin for having a keyboard and its pretty light weight. Most people who've held my phone didn't even know it has a keyboard.

I came from the Droid X and I am extremely happy with my choice so far. I specifically wanted a smaller phone size, because my fingers are not long, and the Droid X was annoyingly uncomfy to operate in 1 hand. So the Sensation was out for me because of the size plus I did want a phys keyboard...so my choice of MyTouch Slide 4G was a no brainer for me.
Just weigh what options matter most to you and go from there. As others have pointed out the inside of the 2 phones are almost identical...so ur decision imo is boiled down to size, phys keyboard, or screen type. Good luck!

New Phone?

Hey guys.
My brother wants a new phone ny hes not sure which one.
He needs it to be on T-Mobile
He wants a keyboard
He wants a ffc, but not that important.

Wait for the MyTouch4G Slide. If he wants a phone right now, I would say G2 over the Sidekick 4G.
Do u have any idea when the mt4g slide is coming out?

Last I heard July 6th but thats not dead set.
Its suppose to be a dual core Snapdragon, 8 MP camera, FFC, 4G, and running Gingerbread. I dont know the exact specs so look that up.

man the g2 is nice, but the sidekick 4g is, of course, 4g, and it has a faster processor. sidekick = 3.5" and g2 = 3.7" though =(
depending on what he's going to do with it, make sure to investigate available accessories and/or roms.
while its beautiful, at times the inspire's screen actually feels a little big in my hand. but i chose it over the atrix because the bootloader isnt locked.
best of luck!!
you can go for mytouch3G slide

G2 also has 4G, though the Sidekick has the 21.1 mbps HSPA+ chip while the G2 has the 14.4mbps HSPA+ (of course those are theoretical device speed limits).
As for the processor in the Sidekick being better I beg to differ. I think the second gen Snapdragon is slightly better than the Hummingbird processor. Though the Sidekicks PowerVR SGX540 gpu is more powerful than the G2's Adreno 205 gpu.

HTC sensation Vs. Samsung galaxy s2

HTC sensation vs. SAMSUNG Galaxy S2
imagine htc sensation without clock and weather widget,
and weather effects in home screen?? so, what is htc sensation for?
haha
samsung galaxy s2, you can add weather and clock widgets,
but no weather effect...right? but samsung galaxy s2
is better screen and lcd..
...
but, these 2 smart phones are android os running...
iphone ios goodbye...hehe Freak.
anyone can help me? what is the best phone ? galaxy s2 or htc sensation...

you can't really compare the two, you should either be comparing the Sensation and the Vibrant 4G or the S2 and the Amaze (pretty much the new Sensation)

But Sensation is a dual core phone, Vibrant or SGS4G are single core phones.
Oh, and yes, SII is better.
yes sll is better
choosing a phone..
Ive had an HD2 running NAND roms (cmylxgo,hyperdroid...) and really liked it. Touch screen went out (i ordered a new one to try and save it).
Just bought Galaxy s2 for wife and Sensation 4G for me-tmobile 14 day trial will allow me to exchange the one I like the least.
Heres the problem.
My rooted HD2 seemed FASTER internet, CLEARER video streaming, better BATTERY (Yes, I said it!) and overall better than Galaxy 2s and Sensation 4g!
**Is it possible that the rooted ROMS are that much better than the stock roms on the newer phones?
a post above also states the Amaze is probably the better choice than the Sensation anyway? True???
Ive got 9 days left!!!!!!! Am I crazy? or, once I remove all the clutter by rooting the new phones, they will crush all others???
I did not try any Samsung smartphone, but from my experience with HTC, I would say "If it is not broken don't change it", for me Sensation rocks.
I think that HTC is better)
for me i would get the htc sensation and not the samsung, i like sense more than touchwiz
GSII runs smoother stock than Sensation. Better screen, and much thinner and slicker
S2 for a smoother more efficient experience .
$1 gets you a reply
Easy answer. Wife keeps the gs2, I keep sensation 4g. We can switch in 6 months!

I've tested both, and I liked Sensation better. It may sound weird, but it was mostly because the S II seemed too light! It was very thin and light and because it was rectangular in shape, I found it difficult to hold in my hand (and I don't have small hands, I'm 6'3").

Totally agree, I've found that I just can't hold the SII in my hand in a confortable way because of his size and shappe. Sensation feels way better in my hand, and also is great phone.
Samsung has better screens but lower resolution. Id still go for samsung though cuz the screen does look awesome
Lets see. Sensation has a crappy speaker, slower than sgs2 (still the fastest in the market today), a volume rocker with shoddy build, no internal sd memory unlike the sgs2 which comes with 16gb or 32gb, crappier cameras and sense ui which runs slower and I have to unlock the bootloader to do stuff. Also sgs2 is unbrickable due to odin.
Hmmm what would I pick. Only htc and sense fans would pick the Sensation over the sgs2.

Or people with smaller hands like me
I have to agree in all of that, 'cause I switched from a SGS4G to the Sensation 4G and man, I miss AMOLED screens jaja.. But Sensation does pretty well too. I'm ok with it.
Sensation :-D
I chose Sensation, because compared to Samsung its' quality is superior. I mean, plastic may be cool for teenagers, but I prefer something more elegant. Well sure, SII is a little better tech-wise, but if I'd need a mobile game console, I'd buy PSP
small hands
I would have to say the SII - love mine - and nearly everyone puts a cover on their phone and by the time you do that the SII is the perfect size for bigger hands im 6,4 and find no problem with it - plus it looks dynamite
Hardware wise the Galaxy will be superior. But only in hardware. For reliability and software, the Sensation will be superior.

Anyone thinking of selling theirs to get an HTC Amaze?

I'm very tempted to sell my Sensation to get an Amaze.
The backlight sensor and dedicated camera buttons sound SO useful, not to mention the extra bit of RAM and the proc as well.
It's somewhat tempting, but I'll easily be able to hold it off since I will never get a LCD screen phone again.

CPU is the same as sensation just that for sensation, HTC decided to under clock to 1.2 instead of 1.5GHz which is native speed for this chip. Camera sensor seemed to be the same but the software drivers is upgraded to user zero shutter lag zsl drivers to enable faster photography.
So the real improvement is the extra button and more physical ram.

Yeah but isn't the t mobile sgsII basically the same soc that's in our sensations but with a bigger lower Res amoled screen with more ram? It feels fast but with the nexus around the corner IMHO neither are worth the money when the phone they all will try and be is almost here.

I don't use sense on my sensation so I wouldn't be missing much. I would rather have a thin light device. The vibrant was a keeper only reason I got rid of it is because of the launch of dual cores. I won't be paying $500 so it will be a upgrade for me regardless. 16gb onboard and 32gb plus that and I always wanted a 4.5in screen ever since I seen the infuse.

+1 on the vibrant, I would have never sold if the g2x hadn't come out. After having a nexus s, I'm sick of carrier subsidized don't know who will warranty it bull****, and want a Google unbranded phone again. Nothing beats next day updates like a nexus. That being said if somebody wants to trade me a T-Mobile sgII for my sensation plus some cash let me know.

IDK the Amaze looks kinda like a jacked up MT4G.The only phone i would give up my Sensation for is the PRIME "maybe" but only for ICS.Im not a big fan of samsung.I bought an sgs2 and after a few hours i wanted to smash it with a hammer.Felt like a toy in my hand.Gave it to my girl and apoligized to my Sensation
I am in the same boat, I am really wanting something different from my Sensation, but am lost on what to get... The Amaze seemed cool at first, but with the points I have seen, it is not worth it. I think I will go the Galaxy route, as well, since I love the sheer size of the screen.
BUT, I really want to get the Nexus or a WP7 phone. Tmobile seems to have just dropped off the WP7 wagon, and pushed all its resources to Android. The only phone that I have "heard" that will be coming out is the HTC Bresson, and who knows what will happen with it. The new Mango update seems to have attracted me enough, and I love the stability of WP7.
Any ideas how the timeline for the Nexus and possibly how better it will be then these current gen devices?
Amaze is not what I'm looking for, but maybe the Nexus Prime...
really wish they would let HTC make another Nexus device because I HATE samSUCK
Yea, Id go for a nexus prime, but something tells me it will cost a hell of a lot more than I could get for my Sensation. I have the dust issue, so I could call in a care package.
How much were those nexus phones when they first showed up?
Matt
Nope, the changes on Amaze are too marginal. If I were contemplating an upgrade, it'd have to have significant improvements over the Sensation.

Thats what I figured... Guess its a toss up between the SGII and the Nexus.
I'm thinking about it. The Amaze has a bigger battery, but thats not really a big deal since you can buy a larger one for the Sensation. Some of what I've read says the processor is actually different (S3 in the Amaze vs MSM in the Sensation), not to mention the little bit of extra RAM. Also, the Amaze features NFC (Near Field Communications) which the Sensation does not have at all and might be fun to have on hand since its a developing technology. The Amaze also has a 2 MP front facing camera, whereas the Sensation only has a 0.3 MP VGA camera.
I just bought my Sensation last week on a whim since my old Blackberry finally died not knowing there were two more coming out right around the corner. I can still return and go to the Amaze easy enough, so I'm seriously thinking about it.

The Sensation has the same processor. Just underclocked.

The only thing that excited me there, was the front facing camera. And yes, I would for sure take it back and get the Amaze, kind of a no brainer.

Switched from Galaxy S II to Sensation

As the title states, I've switched from the Galaxy S II (T-Mobile variant) to the Sensation. While most people might say why would you do such a thing hear me out first. I was offered $200 cash and a mint condition Sensation with all accessories included for my GSII and I needed cash (Christmas to blame) .
I am honestly impressed with the Sensation. Browser scrolling is a million times faster and smoother than the GSII, the screen looks gorgeous on the Sensation (no pixelation at all thanks to QHD). The only thing I miss with the GSII is the gorgeous video/picture quality and louder speaker. Surprisingly I've noticed that my data connection is even better.
I also love that the dev community is larger over here.
EDIT: I've owned a Sensation 4g when it first came out and had nothing but hell with it. This Sensation doesn't overheat, doesn't have signal issues or screen issues like the one I had way back. I love this phone.

Interesting to get a proper comparison between the two from somebody will actual experience (instead of the 'my dad could bash your dad' type comments we usually see).
I looked at the GSII before getting my sensation and generally didn't like the feel of it in my hand. That might sound like a lame reason but in reality there isn't much difference in the hardware, and software / firmware is pretty much irrelevant once you root it
I've been playing around with my mother in laws Tmobile SGII, and there are definitely pros and cons to both.
I love the screen size of the Samsung. It's damn near perfect in that regard. And let's not even talk about the black level and colors. They both outclass the sensation. But the resolution jump is definitely noticeable on the sensation. I'd love the Samsung screen with higher resolution.
As far as speed and smoothness goes, sometimes the Samsung is kinda choppy and slow. The sensation seems a bit zippier to me sometimes. Both stock.
But, if given the chance to trade for a Samsung.......I'm not so sure I wouldn't.

The Sensation and the Galaxy S2 came out around the same time to go against each other and both are really good phones. Sucks that we had to wait until 2 months ago for the S2 to come to the states, if not then I would have probably gotten the S2. But then again I've always been an HTC person and love the build quality on their phones. But one thing, I've been following the Sensation since the pyramid rumors and really couldn't give up.

The GSII outshines this phone in just about every department spec wise. Larger battery (1850 mah with NFC chip), 2mp front cam, louder speaker, etc. Also maybe its just me but the screen on this phone doesn't feel as sensitive as my GSII did when texting on the keyboard.
I AM NOT BASHING THIS PHONE IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM!
On another note, I do love how optimized the software is. TouchWiz was a little choppy and laggy for me. Sense 3.0 feels so smooth. I also love having a led flash even though there's alternative apps that can serve as a notification for the GSII. I am even more than grateful for our dev community (even though my phone isn't rooted yet). I think the screen size on the Sensation is just right. The GSII's screen was a little too. Wide and long for my fingers. The phone would often hurt my fingers trying to pull down the notification bar for example. Users with larger hands would love the GSII's screen real estate. I love both phones equally.

I do notice that the Sensation has the dead grip issue, which most phones have. With GSII I didn't really notice the issue at all. The Sensation seems to be loading web pages significantly faster than the GSII. I don't believe all the hype about 42mbps (GSII) vs 21mbps (Sensation) although the GSII was no slouch when it came to browsing the net in well covered areas.

I do admit that a 4 inch screen as Arron (from Phonedog) would say "is the sweet spot". My old Vibrant and Nexus S made me realize this quickly. The benefit of that extra .3 inch is more screen for viewing, but I honestly wouldn't mind buying a super phone with a 4 inch screen.

The GSII is relevant commercial wise. Check out the dev community and see which device is more relevant. We have a couple different ICS roms working already. The GSII has none. We have more devs and that's not just because this phone was released earlier, I believe timing played apart of it. This phone was released around the time of the G2x and a lot of people didn't want to take a chance with LG so they chose this phone instead.
EDIT: That's like saying the HD2 or G1 isn't relevant anymore when those 2 phones have one of the largest dev community. Just cause you don't see commercials doesn't mean it isn't relevant.

Interesting. It seems you have gotten a almost new sensation. Not to be mean, but the problem's with the sensation first comes after a while, mine sensation was the best in the first few weeks, but after that it just went down.
Also I disagree on that the sensation got a better screen. The SG2 does have the best screen available.
But you did for Christmas so it wasn't that bad
The only problem I have with my HTC Sensation is power button which is fixed in ICS and of course the power use issues which take a lot of tweaking even with a bigger battery.

I'm sorry but, wut?
800x480 on a 4.52" screen... awesome... not!
newer android phones like the Galaxy Nexus has the best screen out.
I'd take the qHD screen over the one on the SGS2 any day of the week.
I've had my Senny since launch and have yet to have any problems.
not sure what kind of problems you had with your Senny but perhaps you got a defective unit.
I think the 4.3"(with 16.9 aspect ratio) screen is perfect.
Not sure how I'd feel with the bigger screens coming out now but that seems to be the way it's going so...

I love the GSII but you're right about the screen not being superior to the Sensation as far as resolution. When it comes to colors and use in the sun the GSII almost has no glare at all. The blacks are actually black! Both phones are great. Its just a matter of preference. The whites on the Sensation are actually white versus the GSII blueish white hue.

Welcome =).
My other half has a S2 and at times im jealous that it feels so smooth and kicks my phones ass at almost every benchmark. I have to enable both cores and use a different kernel to keep up. to her stock phone. Samsung do make some quick internal specs. Shame it looks like a childs play thing
Still my XE is still the better phone for its better looks and awesome user experience.

Should i get a Mytouch 4g slide?

could u guys help me choose? i have the g2x right now. but got bored of it. should i do it? could u guys tell me the pros and cons?
pros: Has sense which I like
Has a better camera
has a keyboard(depends on you)
Cons:
G2x display is better
G2x feels snappier
and not alot of dev for the slide
Ohh not bashing the mytouch but I really don't like the thickness. If I remember correct, isn't it only 3.7 inch screen? I need a minimum of 5 inch screen in craving for a note

Sorry if this isn't help but!!! there are about 4-5 threads with some descent talk about the 4g Slide. I personally say, look on craigslist and see which is selling for more, and then make your decision.

I had the 3g slide for a few years. Over that time I used the slide out KB only a couple times. Just get the straight Mytouch 4g.
The slide is okay I had one for a day had dust under the screen out of the box its basically a sensation with a keyboard

My Touch 4G Slide vs. G2x
I purchased one for my wife. I'm guessing that you will want to Hack this phone if you get it?
The reason I don't like that idea is that it is much more difficult to install a custom recovery. There are many more steps to take to flash a ROM. I read through a tutorial on the My Touch 4G. When you compare how much work it takes to do the same thing on the G2x, the G2x wins hands down.
Have you tried the Eagles Blood AOSP ICS ROM for the G2x? I really like the ROM! Check it out if you have not yet.
If it's the slideout keyboard that you really want, then go for it. It's a great phone. I think the G2x is a better performer though.

If you're fixed on a HTC/Sense device, get one depending on your price ranged.
Cheap: Sensation
In between: Amaze
Cutting edge: One S

The MyTouch is good if you want something out of the box to just text and call. Not much in the way of performance or customizing out there. G2x blows it out of the water for most things. My sister has a MyTouch and it's meh. It's also huge.
I have a g2x and I got the MyTouch 4g Slide for my wife. She loves it and I've used it periodically. But the thing is that she has what I consider an irrational hatred of on-screen keyboards. In reality, the physical keyboard is the main reason to get this. Aside from the keyboard it is just an HTC Sensation with a slightly smaller screen. If you are fine with the on-screen keyboard you are better off getting something like a Galaxy Note, Galaxy S3 or HTC One S.
