[Q] Root - how to? - Motorola Triumph

While I patiently await CM7 for the Triumph, can anyone tell me how to get this thing rooted? I've owned a G1, Eris, and Optimus V. Each one had a different process. How can I do it on this one?

There is an app you install called GingerBreak. It is found in the same forum you posted this question in, just look for it, I believe it is right under this thread, actually. It is a simple 1-Click root method.
Hope I helped. If I did, could you help a brother out by clicking the thanks button? It's all I got

Here is a link to the aforementioned GingerBreak: http://www.4shared.com/file/kJ-skGa5/Gingerbread_15.html
After rooting, go to the market and install superuser.

Damn, I thought that was for a custom ROM. Thank you! I'll give proper thanks when I get to my Chromebook.

Well, that was quick. All rooted now. However, you linked something that only put on wallpapers. I had to go find 1.2 of GingerBreak.

Hello, i've tried Gingerbreak, Z4, Universal Androot and SuperOneClick Server is down.
Does anyone know of any other methods to root an android??
-edit-
root a motorolla triumph

Besides Gingerbreak 1.2 specifically? Which is right here...

There's an "easy root method" that involves renaming the sudo binary in your phone to su... If you do this, it's strongly recommended you install Superuser when you're done.

My ROM (hurrhurr) comes with root already available.

You didn't mention what device you own?
There are other 1-click methods for rooting, i.e SuperOneClick that you might want to try. Do your research, and if you post what phone it is then we can direct you to some guides.
I have a Droid 2 and have been waiting to root it. I DL'd Z4 when it was still on Market. So I guess I have an old version....if there is a new one that is.
I rooted with it before, but then unrooted when I started having issues with the phone. Now I am skeptical to root again until I find a good ROM for a D2.
So...should I root with this Z4Root 1.3.0
Are there any good ROM's for D2....preferably a GB ROM. I don't see the point in installing another FROYO ROM.
I didn't see a GB ROM scanning through the forum but THIS is the place where it'd be if there were one.
SuperOneClick is my preferred 1-click root method and often works where others fail. There's also more rooting info in the dev section link above too.

[ROOT] G2x Root via SuperOneClick

UPDATE:
The SuperOneClick rooting method outlined in this thread currently only works for Android 2.2. It does not work with Gingerbread 2.3.3.
To root 2.3.3 -
1) Install CWM (ClockworkMod Recovery): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
2) Flash rooted ROM of your choice. Here is a stock rooted 2.3.3 ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179748
Here's a brief guide on how to root the T-Mobile G2x. This assumes that you already have adb installed. If you do not, a quick search will point you in the right direction
Note: I take no credit for rooting the G2x. I am not the developer of SuperOneClick, and this is a simplified version of a guide already posted by domi007 in the O2x forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953182). I am just posting a guide in the G2x forum because no one else has yet.
1) Install ADB driver: http://www.junefabrics.com/bin2/LGDriver.exe
2) Enable USB debugging on your phone (Settings->Applications->Development), and connect your phone to your computer via USB.
3) Run SuperOneClick: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
4) Choose the option "Root"
It's really that simple...enjoy
update:
jnichols959 has provided a simple solution to rooting the G2x for Mac and Linux users. We hope that keeping two separate threads will not add to forum clutter. On the contrary we think each thread will be less cluttered and therefore be more helpful to the end user.

I apologize for the Windows only solution I've posted. Since I moved in with my girlfriend, Windows has weaseled it's way back into my household. However, there was a time when I wouldn't let a Windows box come within 100 yards of my place of residence.
Thank you very much!
Edit: Thanks works really good!

Ha no problem. I can just install Parallels or Fusion today. I did manage to get SuperOneClick running on my mac using Mono. However, I don't see any way to install the LG drivers executable file on the Mac, so I doubt SOC will work in this manner without those drivers... not sure if I want to risk trying it.
GOOD! i wanted to know if it really worked with our phones! (without test myself)
thanks alot
NOW all i gotta do is hurry up and wait for m phone to get here (some time today.......GRRR)
Hey thanks for posting this! I currently own a G2, rooted with cm7. I'm planning on picking this beast up in-store on Wednesday and I'm already itching to root it and get a custom ROM on there.
One question though, does this method achieve a permanent root? My only experience with android thus far is the G2, which required an involved process to root. Is this phone just a lot easier to root for some reason??
And then as far as recoveries and ROM's I'm assuming those haven't been released for this phone yet, right??

Yes permanent root. This G2x is not as locked down as the G2, making the process a whole lot easier. And no, no recovery yet, just stay tuned to these forums.
Oh god yes
I already have ADB driver and SOC ready and I rooted few phones through this way.
It's good to know G2x can be rooted easily.
Rooted=no more junk!
Quick question for yall...this won't simunlock the phone will it?
Thanks a bunch.

Nope. It will not.
Received the phone today, rooted it within 5 minutes within hooking up to the computer using the superoneclick tool.
I think it took longer to install the drivers, and SuperOneClick than it did to root the phone.
Alright good to know. Just wondering than if yall have a general idea how long it usually takes a device to get an unlock with root, I am not sure because this would be the first phone for me that I am getting close to the release date.

SIM unlocking and rooting the phone are two totally different things.

If you want to SIM unlock this phone, you can call t-mobile after you have purchased the phone, give them the IMEI number, and in about 2 weeks they will email you the unlock code for the phone.
Mine will be here today sometime.
How do I get the SuperOneClick download, the site shortfuse.org page will not load Help, I really want to get this rooted. Thanks

[Q] Motorola Charm Help? Anyone?

I can't root my charm. I've tried Universal Androot, z4root, and superoneclick. I get failed no fu goo from universal androot, z4root just says its attempting to root forever, and superoneclick said it failed. I really want to root my phone and can't find hardly any info for my phone. My phone info is Firmware version 2.1, kernal version 2.6.29-omap1, if you need more info let me know. Please can someone help get my phone rooted?
This is Unlockr's guide, check if you do something wrong. http://theunlockr.com/2011/02/28/universal-rooting-app-procedure-z4root/
Did you try gingerbreak? I couldn't get anything else to work, but gingerbreak worked like a charm!

I am in the exact same situation!
I've been looking everywhere for a root for my Motorola Charm. The specs on my machine are the same as for rntscott's.
I've gotten exactly the same error codes from the same 3 root utilities. Also, super1click also uses the gingerbreak exploit, and I tried rooting it with both separate exploits within super1click, still no love.
So if anyone out there has any suggestions for us, or if this has been resolved in another thread, please point me in that direction?
Thank you so much. Right now I'm frustrated at how little I can do with the pittance of phoneboard memory, and I actually want to USE my phone to do neat things with. Thank you!

[Q] How to root LG Optimus Chat (LG-C550)?

i don't think so ask the developer
Hi, my LG-C555 is unlocked & rooted and currently runs Android 2.2. I wanted/needed to change the internal firmware so I tried Gingerbreak (1.0, 1.1 and 1.2) but none of them seems to work.
I was able of pushing gingerbreak.apk (version 0, 1 and 2) to the /data/app folder with the USB debugging mode ON and I also have inserted a formated/mounted SD card in the phone.
Then I installed it normally, the installation started but never ended, it stayed in an infinite loop (more than 1 hour)... I had to reboot.
How did you manage to install it properly on yours?
Thank you for your time,
highmighty
Hi all,
The Gingerbreak installation starts on my rooted-network-unlocked LG-C550 but it never ends, it stays in an infinite loop (more than 1 hour)... it finally needed a reboot and unfortunately nothing has changed with the firmware version, it's still Android version 2.2, what could be the problem?
Also, could someone tell me how can I force a flash of the same default "firmware" into it?
I suspect a problem with the installed firmware so that's why I wanted to try Gingerbreak to see if my problem would go away...
Your help is much appreciated!
Regards,
highmighty
@highmighty
It looks like the exploit, which Gingerbreak uses is fixed, you can try to use the Stock-ROM of your phone. There are many other ways out there to root phones. I got my Huawei Boulder rooted with superoneclick, maybe that will do it for you too. If you find a solution please post it here for others.
Best regards

SuperOneClick worked great. Thanks for the advice. I sucessfully rooted an LG C555 from Koodo.
Hi, just a question here. My sister gave me a C550 or C555.
Does the root unlock simlock at the same time, like others devices, or not?

[Q] Droid 2 Global rooting?

Ok, so not to long ago I recieved a notification saying that my Droid 2 Global ws due for an update. My thoughts were "YAY!! NEW STUFF!!!". After I updated it I found out about phone rooting and I did some research on it. I came to the conclusion that I was going to root my phone no matter what. But I have tryed everything I came across. Which was only Gingerbreak, z4root, Petesoneclickroot, and I think thats about it.... Anyways none of those work.
When I tryed the Gingerbreak it would say its rooting but I left it there for like 3 hours while I watched a movie and it still wasnt done... I knew it wasnt going to work because it said it would take "2-3 minutes, 10 minutes at the max".
With the z4root I would install it and click on it and click Pearmanet Root. It would load for a little then it would just stop and go to the home screen of my phone. When I clicked the app again it would say it force clossed and after that it just would not open when I clicked it.
With the Petes one click root it would be going all well until it came to the rebooting stage. Once my phone shut off and started back up it would go into bootloader. And it would stay like that...
Just so you know what my phone is running and stuff its:
Model Number: DROID2 GLOBAL
Android Version: 2.3.3
If theres anything else you need to know just ask and please someone tell me and option to root my phone.
z4root and Gingerbreak won't work.
As it was described multiple times, DROID3 ADB exploit works. Pete's one-click motorola root tools should work; although it might fail if you had z4root.
i was
success to root using superoneclick 2.2(zergrush)
I used Pete's Root Tools for my D2G several times with no problems. It's pretty straight forward. You might need to SBF, because those other apps probably narsed up your ROM.
Also make sure you have the most recent drivers from Motorola. I have heard of problems being because of old drivers. Rootzwiki has some great user/dev threads on installing cm7gb. I would go there and follow the directions you find. Like the others said you may need to sbf to get a factory/known good state.
Remember: double & triple check everything before getting stuck up a creek. And make sure you have a way back before you start down that road...
D2G CM7GB
just used peters root tool.
worked excellent for me
If i had been rooted and then the update unrooted my phone. how can i gain root access. furthermore is their an app and lastly can i do it on a mac?
Look for DROID3 one-click root scripts. There's a version for Mac. This has been discussed many times, and can be found with a quick Google search, too.
