[THEME] BravoComb for BravoX [v1.0] - Bravo Themes and Apps

Themed to look like Android 3.0 Honeycomb
This will work on BravoX Rom and stock Bravo 2.2.1 (as tested by abhi897)
I have only tested it on BravoX RC2 so I can't guarantee any results, anything you do to damage your phone is not my responsibility.

Hope you guys enjoy, let me know what you think about it and what i need to change
Thanks!

Tested it. Works on stock rom as well.

you keep 'em coming! nice, man!

Nice! this looks super good... ill have to try it out next time i flash bravoX

Downloading and installing now. I'll leave my thoughts when it's all installed and I check it out. Keep them coming, man. Great job so far. This looks good.

Just ran through a bunch of stuff and it looks great. There is one thing I would suggest: when switching between tabs in the dialer and manage applications screens you can't really read what the tab is. Other than that, works flawlessly and looks great.
EDIT: Another thing I noticed was that when you're in the text message screen and typing in someone's name, you only see the "type" of number and not their name.
After about a day of using this everything else works great and smooth. I actually think this one runs a little smoother/faster than some other ones. I don't seem to be using as much RAM with this installed.

Themes and mods

So here's a question from a n00b
Which mods are permanent and which ones are not? I have Eng bootloader and JF r30 1.3 which of course gave me opportunity to do all these things that you guys took time to figure out so n00bs like me can punch in some commands without knowing what it does or how it works. All I see is the end result and I love it!!!
So far I have
Custom splash1 and splash2
Auto-rotate browser and system
All cashes moved to SD
All apps moved to SD
Ringtones moved to SD
Removed Amazon.MP3 and Alarm
Installed tether-1.6.tar (whoever came up with that - THANK YOU!)
Windows7 theme.
Prior to updating to this theme I had removed amazon and alarm and they reappeared after I installed this theme. Now I'm scared to try out another theme because I don't want to re-do all the mods?
Can someone explain to me (and all of the n00bs out there) which mods are permanent and which ones need to be re-done after every theme change. Fell free to elaborate on the mods that I did not mention
Thanks to all for your past and future contributions, it's all greatly appreciated
Nothing is permanent.
The reason those apps returned after installing a theme is because those apps are present in the app folder in update.zip.
You can remove them again or simply remove them from the theme update.zip and then apply it.

The actual theme only consists of modifying framework-res.apk. In /system/apps is where you would delete stock programs, but it generally leads to stability issues when done so.
As far as permanence, if you do a wipe, then install a new version of an os, you will be stuck with whatever is in the update.zip package. You would need to pull the framework-res.apk from that new version, and then resign it, then install it in recovery mode.
The splash1 image is permanent, the splash2 isn't permanent if you decide to change themes, or wipe your phone (from my experience.)

Actualy, theming has to deal with modifying every apk. Yes majority of the work is done with framework but a good deal of work is done to launcher.apk, contacts.apk, and various other apks for custom icons and things related specifically to the apps theselves.

Now see, this is why I said right away that I'm a noob in this. I don't know what framework is, how launcher.apk works, etc, etc etc...
I kind of figured out that I will need to remove alarm and amazon again (from my earlier experience) but I really need someone to basically go thru the list and say "this will stay" or "you will need to do this again". This way I will compile a little "to do after theme install" list. I also would like to know what would happen if I end up doing the same mod twice, like running a command to move move all the apps to sd, not that I want to do it but hey, sh** happens.
At any rate, thanks to all for your replies.

Loading themes

Where can I find the how to on loading themes to a rooted ROM...should they just install like an apk or is it more involved I'm not using the right search criteria to find what I need for input. Any help is much appreciated!
It depends on your theme, most themes only work on custom homes apps like gde, open home, or ahome. If it says "theme for ____" it usually needs that program to open.
Also, a majority of the [THEME] posts in this section are just modded images for senseui. They are installed just like a custom rom, using the select zip option in the recovery menu.

Thanks Wasney I'll try that; now that I have the default RUU I just install that. Any time I nandroid back up and then do a restore the reboot seems to hang at the HTC boot screen unanimated not indicating even a reboot process if that makes sense.

[ROM] OmegaEVO v1.1 [[NEW 3.30.651.3 OTA]] [[Froyo 2.2]] Updated 11/15/2010

For my new ROM please go HERE
Installation instructions & other useful information
To install on your Evo:
1. Copy OmegaEVO_v1.0_by_Ricsim78.zip to the root of your SD card.
2. Shut off your phone and boot into recovery.
3. Do a full wipe (Data, cache, Dalvik, SD Ext.) Do it twice to be sure if you want to!
4. Install OmegaEVO_v1.0_by_Ricsim78.zip. It should take a few minutes to install.
5. Reboot the phone. It should take a long time to start up the first time. Please be patient!
6. If all goes well, enjoy your new ROM!
7. If not, start over from step 2 after pulling your battery.
To install a custom kernel: Let the ROM load up first and then reboot into recovery and wipe the cache and Dalvik. Then install the custom kernel and reboot.
To install a theme: Let the ROM load up first and then reboot into recovery and wipe the cache and Dalvik. Then install the theme and reboot.
How to backup and restore using Titanium backup Here is the method I use to backup my phone information before I wipe and install a new ROM
I backup my entire phone with a batch "Backup all user apps + system data"
Wipe and install the new ROM,
I open Titanium Backup (TB) and give it super user rights.
I hit "Updates?" in TB and make sure I am running the latest.
I hit "Problems?" in TB and make sure I am using Busybox 1.60
Hit menu and select batch
Select "Backup all new apps + newer versions of apps", if any.
Select "Restore missing apps with data"
Go over the list and make sure you are restoring only what you want
Hit run batch operation
After it completes, go back into TB and backup restore.
Restore contacts twice
Restore MMS twice
Restore Mail twice
If any of the 3 above do not take, do it again
Restart your phone
Verify mail, MMS, and contacts restored. If not, restore again.
Why Amon RA and not Clockwork recovery?
Clockwork does not wipe the Dalvik properly (if at all). I personally have had nothing but problems with both Clockwork and ROM manager
I have said countless times that if you use either of the above, it is at your own risk. Install Amon RA recovery and I bet any wiping/installing problems will go away.
If you already are using ROM manager, pick the option to install a custom recovery, choose Amon RA 1.8. If that option is greyed out, reinstall the latest Clockwork then install RA.
Note: Do not do a fix permissions with anything unless you need to, you can screw stuff up that way.
Trust me, the new ROM is devoid of problems (I have never tested a ROM this much before releasing it). If you experience any, it is either something you are doing wrong or incomplete wipes thanks to your recovery not doing it's job properly.
What is the proper method to install the ROM and other things (kernels, themes, and mods, etc.)
Lets say you want to add a kernel, a theme, and then a clock modification.
Nandroid first!
ROM: Wipe data, cache, Dalvik (twice), SD:EXT.
Install the ROM.
Let the ROM load up the first time.
Sign into your Google account
Let it sync
When the sync icon goes away, reboot into recovery.
In recovery, wipe the cache and Dalvik (twice)
Install the theme
Reboot
Let it load all the way up again.
Reboot into recovery
In recovery, wipe the cache and Dalvik (twice)
Install the kernel
Reboot
Let it load all the way up again.
Reboot into recovery
Wipe the cache and Dalvik (twice)
Install the clock MOD
Reboot
This is my method and works every time without issue. Obviously, to install another item, you would repeat the process.
Hope this both helps and clarifies.
Which kernels work with this ROM?
Any that are designed for a Sense ROM. This includes:
Netarchy's
Kingclick's
Hero Over's
Ziggy's
HTC's
Which kernel do you recommend to use?
I cannot recommend a kernel for you because each EVO reacts different. The best for my phone can be the worse for yours.
You have to try the different ones available and pick the one that works best for you. What I do is start with their latest and work your way down until you find one that works well. Then stick with it.
This also goes for overclocking, SetCPU settings, etc.
Which themes work with this ROM?
Themes make your phone look nice but can also add problems to an otherwise smooth running ROM. You can use any theme you wish, but Nandroid first and if anything is broken, please do not blame the ROM as it is the theme that added the problem.
This includes my older modded themes and any theme made for 3.29 and 3.30 OTA updates They may work or they may work but break things.
Using my theme avoids this problem. It matches with my ROM perfectly and breaks nothing. Also, my theme is optimized for maximum speed and reduces the overhead of a theme (most themes are not optimized and add a bunch of stuff which increases system overhead, reduces battery life and speed a bit). As an added perk, it is a small download.
Hey, what gives? How come this ROM is saying it is 3.30.651.2 when I thought it was the 3.30.651.3 OTA?
3.30.651.3 is NOT a full ROM, it is a kernel and a few other minor changes. This is why the OTA is 7 MB or less instead of 160+ MB like a ROM usually is.
There is no issue, this is the 3.30.651.3 update. Hence the HTC # 17 kernel. Notice the screenshot in the first post also says that mine has 3.30.651.2? That is because basically this is a bandaid for a recently released OTA. That is why the number went up in the last decimal place. A major update would be like 3.31.XXX.X
sounds good, any screenies?

Well, without recooking it or using a theme (which would take out my wallpapers) no. Let me see if I can come up with a better solution. If not I will re-cook it with a different battery icon.
EDIT: Replacement battery indicator included in the first post for anyone who does not like the circle battery indicator the ROM is cooked with.

Thanks for the compliments and I am glad you like. There is 4 custom wallpapers included, I found them from Desktop Nexus and resized them to fit the Evo screen (960x800) using Paint.net for Windows 7.
You should also check out the custom ring tones and notifications!

That was how this ROM was born, I liked almost all of the ones on the board, but none had the ringtones, notifications, or wallpapers I wanted.
Problem solved! Glad to see it is working for everyone as well. I had no problems with this ROM, think it helps that it is based off the OTA and not a custom ROM.
I will keep this ROM updated. Future plans is to come up with a Sense removed, AOSP element version and add more customizations. I also need to update some of the apps (TB, to name one). I kept some of the stock Sprint stuff in just so no one had problems updating the Voicemail or other Sprint apps left in.
Please rate the thread and let me know if there is anything I should include, change, etc. etc.

Sounds good man, hehe. Please let me know what you think and I hope you like this ROM.
I begin work on the next version of Azrael today, expect version 2.1 out soon, By Wednesday I should have it tested out and ready to go.
Known changes I am going to be making:
-all apps updated
-battery indicator changed to Smooth battery with percentage (far more useful than the one Azrael 2.0 is cooked with and so far the only complain heard about this ROM) *knock on wood*
-Another custom wallpaper or 3 thrown in for good measure
Whatever changes I make, I will of course note them in the release notes.
I also want to get some more theme options available, maybe modify some themes so they do not take out my custom wallpapers. That way you can make this ROM more how you want it to be as well.
I really hope everyone who tries this likes it, I know I am up there with some really good ROM makers here that have far more reputation, but so far everything has been positive and I hope that at least a few people find my work useful.
Lastly, I am glad to offer another ROM option and give back to a community that has given me much.

[Theme] Magnolia Rom Theme and Mods - Inverted Apps[Updated 04/11/2011]

This is the new thread where you will find all other mods (besides what is included in the "Magnolia" folder on the sd card) and themes for the Magnolia Rom.
If you are not familiar with the Magnolia rom, you can check it out here. It is a rom built by sk806 running 100% Incredible framework with some additional mods. Simply put, this means that everything should work out of the box (like TV Out and MMS over Wi-Fi).
The mods here were created by sk806 or by myself. If there was a contributing party, then credit will be given for the particular mod. If I miss anyone that was involved in any of this work, it was not intentional. Please PM me and I will give the credit where it is due.
All themes and mods were optimized for minimum memory usage and zipaligned for performance. Also, all updates are using the new edify update scripts, so theoretically they should flash with any version of ClockWork Mod recovery. Always make a backup before you flash any mod.

I have never used any of these Rosie mods, so I have no screenshots of them. I have some custom icons that I use in the Black n Bold theme below that I use. The only change from the original mod is that they include color menu icons (CM notation) for Rosie and AppFolders where applicable.

Wrong Theme Files
If anyone has downloaded the Black n Bold theme for the regular rom or the desensitized, you will need to download it again. I had the wrong HTCDialer.apk and Phone.apk in the zip file. Sorry for the inconvenience. It should be good to go now.
Black Dialers & Black n Bold Theme
I'm having issues with the Black Dialers and the Phone in the Black n Bold theme. I need to pull them for now until I can get the situation resolved. I will try and have them back up tomorrow.
These look pretty! Can't wait for the dialers to be back online!

Hey Devildog, none of the black dialers are up. It gives me an error 404...

Yes. You need to run the Desensitize script, install the Black n Bold Desensitized theme and then run the Lockscreen mod from the same post.
I have the Black n Bold theme down for now because I am having issues with the Black Dialers and they are included with the Black n Bold theme. I hope to have everything back up today.

Is it possible to run the BnB Market without the BnB theme?
When I flashed the BnB Market, nothing happened. It appeared to just delete the stock market. Reflashed the BnB market again, no dice. I didn't log in or use the market yet prior to the flashing of BnB market, per your instructions.
I did desensitize prior to flashing BnB Market. Should I have flashed the market first, then desensitized?
This is what I did:
-full wipe
-flash 1.3, let it boot
-install Launcherpro via apk, set as default launcher
-desensitize, delete apps via gscript, reboot, let it reload, make sure phone/ROM works
-reboot to clockwork, flash color icons, make sure that works
-reboot to clockwork, flash color lockscreen mod, make sure lockscreen works, make adjustments to lockscreen app, reboot again to verify the lockscreen changes (also noticed that the battery meter is back to stock)
-made backup
-reboot to clockwork, flash BnB Market---BnB market non-functional.
-reflashed BnB market, still non-functional
-restored backup above, stock market is functional again
I also saved the BnB google voice apk from the older thread. That installed with no problems.

Black n Bold Theme Files
The Black n Bold theme files are back up. For now, they will have the stock white buttons for the dialer. I am still working on the black dialers. There something about the HTCDialer.apk and Phone.apk that doesn't like to be themed with Magnolia 1.3. I will keep working to get this resolved and have the black dialers up as soon as possible.
Black Dialers
The Black Dialers are back up now. I think that I have the problem resolved. Make sure you do a backup before flashing. Thanks for your patience.

Are you showing any kind of Market when you go to "Manage Applications" in Settings? I always flash the Market first thing after a flash. Did you sign in to your Google account before you flashed the Market? If so, the Market could have updated.
You don't have to have the Black n Bold theme to flash the Market though.

Install Method is the same, See third post if you dont know.
Tips:
-LauncherPro uses stock Transitions, Use another Launcher if you want the ICS effect when opening apps from Homescreen and leaving/returning home. (such as a GB launcher from the Market or my custom aosp ICS themed launcher from the add-ons section, which is the same launcher from V1.)
-If you turn off auto brightness, you can control the brightness by sliding your finger across the status bar 8)

Install Instructions
Instructions - NOTHING NEW, if you know the drill then go ahead and install.
- Put zip file in your /sdcard
- Reboot into cwm recovery
- Wipe Data/Factory Reset
- Wipe Cache Partition
(Optional but recommended to prevent any minor issues)-Wipe Dalvik Cache from advanced menu in CWM
*Now before you Flash, Only if you are on the orange CWM, (Not RED voodoo CWM from Bali) if on red CWM ignore the mounts/unmount part*
MAKE SURE YOUR MOUNTS LOOK LIKE THIS: (Go to mounts and storage from CWM recovery)
UNMOUNT CACHE
MOUNT DATA
MOUNT SDCARD
UNMOUNT SYSTEM - this is the ONLY mount you pay mind to, not Sdcard or anything else
Click to collapse
- Now its safe to Flash the .zip
(AGAIN IGNORE UNLESS IF YOU ARE ON A RED VOODOO RECOVERY) after you flash, go back to mounts and storage and make sure your mounts look like this
UNMOUNT CACHE
MOUNT DATA
UNMOUNT SDCARD
UNMOUNT SYSTEM
(Optional but recommended)-Wipe Cache then Wipe Dalvik Cache from advanced menu in CWM before Rebooting.
(To First Time installers, System Needs to be set to Unmount, though it would really be mounted. If you do Not do this you will have a softbrick and will have to ODIN to stock and start all over ....) Once you have Flashed a Custom ROM or Bali 2.2 Kernel you dont have to worry about mounts

AFTER THE ROM BOOTS, i Recommend letting it sit for about 5 mins without use so cache and stuff builds back up, then log into google from gmail/market or someway, let google sync for 5 mins then reboot again. then you will have your Sidekick 4G in the best state its ever been

Absolutely beautiful. Coming over from GCV2.
Adding a known issues section to the second post, SU binary is outdated, and launcher auto-rotate doesn't work. Please post if there are any other issues, we would like to get them fixed and updated for you.
Nobody ever posts screenshots of the dialer, I am straight, however anal.
heheheee
I'm making a bunch of screenshots right now, will be added to the second post shortly.
Is this MORE Vanilla than the Gingerclone V2 (AOSPmod)? (Ninja-Please!)
My lady wanted one, and conned me into it, so we have two phones than need your >Ninjaness.
