Inspire 4G sport armband - HTC Inspire 4G

Looking for a well designed armband that I could use while exercising.
What do you guys use? please let me know your suggestions...

I don't have much useful info but a question like this might be better asked in like the Evo forums since that's a much older device, albeit the same approximate size. Hope you find something man!

I have been looking for one as well. Look forward to reading your review

What I use
I have an old Zune 80gb that has become my shop tunes. So when I need an armband for my Inspire, I use the Belkin armband I had laying around. It is a little short- by maybe an 1/8 inch or so, but it works just fine.
Its made of flexible sponge rubber with a velcro band and a pocket for your locker key. The clear screen window gets scratched up with rough use, but I like that better than scratching up my gadgets. For me it worked great a no cost, YMMV.

Yeah, I just bought the Tune Belt for Large Smartphones linked to above in this thread. I actually bought it at an Academy Sports store locally for $14.99, which means I didn't pay shipping and I got it straight away. I think it was $16 with tax. I'll be running with it tomorrow morning for the first time. My initial observations are below:
It's comfortable on my arm, squishy neoprene type material. We'll see how sweaty it gets. I'm in Arkansas so it's super hot and humid now.
The phone fits fine, but you'll have to pull off your case, if you have one. I've got a speck plastic case, and it's simply a bit too big with the case on, which probably works out because the case seems to make gps lock a bit more difficult.
I'll be using Sportypal Pro (free app on marketplace) to track my runs, along with either the fm radio, or a music player to listen to while I'm running. I did a short walking test a few minutes ago. Everything seems to be functioning properly.
I have a rooted HTC Inspire 4G, rooted with Bubby's One Click program, running ClearDroid MOD, just so you know.
I'll report back after the run.

Interested in seeing how it goes. I still run with my wife's iPhone because the armband works so well with it.
One bummer about moving away from iPhone is the comparative lack of accessory support. When you own an iPhone, there are four or five different options for every need conceivable! Despite this, I don't think I'm ever going back to ios.
Sent from my HTC Inspire™ 4G using XDA Premium App

I picked up one on amazon by iarmbands. works fine.

The armband referenced above works just fine if you take off any hardcase you might have on the phone. I quite enjoyed the run. If you use a program like Sportypal to track your run, it's a bit difficult to monitor things, but that doesn't have anything to do with what brand of armband you have. It's a product of using any armband at all.
That said, this one works just fine!

Has anyone used this one? http://www.lizardmobile.com/servlet/the-641/Lizard-Mobile-Armbrunning-for/Detail. Just curious as I am also looking for the best option. I had one (can't remember the brand) that would get a lot of condensation inside during my run

touch cruise unboxing

Can anyone point me in the right direction for an unboxing movie.... or list the box contence.
Mine is coming on Monday but I just can’t wait.
To be entirely honest I still can't believe that "apparently many people SAY" they have one and yet I can't find an unboxing video for it.
http://www.msmobilenews.com/windows-mobile/reviews/htc-touch-cruise-review.html
There seems to be an unboxing but this (I’m hoping) is the demo pre-release version I’m guessing the massive tell - tell sign being the hole on the back.
I've recorded my box on video. It's being processed by YouTube right now, title "HTC Touch Cruise Unboxing". It was taken with my own TC, two things to note: it's obviously the unboxing "preview" you wanted, and you can also see the awful frame rate on this thing...
Oh yeah, never mind what I'm saying, just blabbering
It’s alright mate, thanks. its much appreciated.
btw can you quickly list the contense of the actually retail unboxing? And if possible the link to your you tube video?
Thank you.
YouTube video just in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuM_-yalUpo
It's actually just a preview of the box, not so much to see.
Contents:
The HTC Touch Cruise itself
Good manual
Screen protector
Small pouch + extra stylus
Battery
Charger
USB Cable
2 CD's (1 for extra software like TomTom, 1 for drivers and Windows moblie and such (I guess, didn't check really))
Quick Start guide
Some extra flyers (some from HTC, TomTom, local resellers)
I think that pretty much sums it up
Ok cool, thank you so much. if u were a woman and in front of me I would have no problems in hugging you with glee lol.
I was really just hooked about the case, well more like slightly worried as all the other touch devices have a case of some sort.
Anyway if it is not too much trouble is the case like the one from the first touch or the one from the touch dual.
Once again, Thank you.
I’ve just seen it. Thank you so much it was only 44 seconds but now I REALLY can't wait until Monday.
I have no clue whether it resembles the Touch (Dual) boxes.
You're welcome, and I'm NOT a woman, so a pat on the shoulder should suffice
I understand how it feels having to wait for the ultimate package Been there lately
Trust me, it's worth waiting for, especially if HTC is going to release the GPU drivers, then the speed thing would be solved too...
lol well a pat it is then...
ive had to put up with the eten glofiish x800 it s was OK and that about it. good screen.
i meant case as in its protective pouch btw but ive seen a few pics now. unless the one i saw was an after market one.
anyway thank you so much you've provided a real service
really have made my day
once again thanks.
You're welcome. The pouch is nothing compared to what you see online, its just a bag with a strap at the top to close it, like a garbage bag, but then smaller, containing your TC and in soft tissue
Sorry to hear bout the X800, I wonder where everyone gets the money to buy *multiple* pda's... (and phone and gps i know )
Meh. Well the x800 was a bit on an experiment for the IT department I work in. unheard of going for something so untested but someone has got to test it. I don’t know what goes on behind the scenes that made them say "I want my employees to work with sheer crap" but it happened, anyway I'm giving it back soon, like I said it was ok, a bit like paper, you use it every day but you never truly take any notice of it.
Ye as I suspected the one I saw was an aftermarket one, looks like HTC just took it off the touch dual. It’s slightly disappointing I was looking to have a rubberized case like the one from the touch.
Yeah, unfortunately, the TC comes shipped with a very limited set of accesoiries, in contrast with previous devices, for that price!!

You’re absolutely right and it’s appalling.
I know it’s a really good device but I still feel like for my money there should be more production value.
Oh and Tracy and matt's blog has now got an unboxing of the pre-release version... it seems funny that it only comes out now as people are receiving their devices.

The Best Car Dock Confirmed!

Ok, I've been a very proud owner of the Samsung Omnia i8910 for a few months now... Still considering which phone I'm going to keep now after getting the Nexus one.
But I just wanted to confirm that awhile back I bought a car dock/holder for the Omnia but to my suprise and delight it fits the Nexus absolutely perfect. IMO this is the best car holder on the market. Proclip USA makes excellent products and I can confirm this particular dock is not only excellent but fits the N1 perfect as well.
Defininetly more expensive than others especially those you can find on ebay from china... but for me well worth it. If anyone is considering this their website - proclipusa.com - you need to select your country and then they give you the option for make of car and make of phone. Obviously there is no selection for the Nexus one but I can guarantee the model of phone you need to select is the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD, the product number is - 511020 - put that in the search and you'll find it. This is for the Holder with tilt swivel which is perfect for maps & navigation as you can swivel it landscape for great looking directions... they even have a model with a built in charger but I just opted for the holder with tilt swivel.
I am not affiliated with this company whatsoever just a happy customer.
Again it is expensive but I love it and love the fact you can select the make of your car and it comes pre-configured to mount to it.
**Edit: Forgot to mention there is no drilling and messing up your dash... just simply applies with a sticky backing and can easily be uninstalled without any damage whatsoever.
I am not sure that what you are describing or the pictures attached are what is typically considered to be a dock.
A dock would include a charging station, that is the purpose of the contacts on the bottom of the Nexus one. Ideally, the docking station would allow you to use transmit the Nexus One media thru the auto sound system.
Thanks for the information but that is a phone holder not a dock. The dock will be capable of charging the phone through the contact points on the bottom of the N1. The dock may also interface with your car radio and possibly other functions yet to be determined.

link? can you provide a link from where you bought the dock from?
Yes I think I put the link in at the OP but its at proclipusa.com
Also stated I believe is that yes I just bout the holder and since there is an opening at the bottom charging is perfect as it hooks up right to the bottom but I didn't get the other version offered which included a coiled charging station.
I do like the look of that phoneclip, however my only concern that I can see is, how does the phone not vibrate out of it while its horizontal?
This fits the N1 so good that it almost takes two hands to pull it out... there's no way it can come out without pulling it out and certainly not due to vibration.
Would it being as tight as you say, cause it to wear out on the phones material on the sides?

Seconded, this would be good to know too. Although I've already ordered one, which hopefully should just connect to the existing brodit mount I had for my Touch Pro 2.
Wow, I checked into that website. I really like the interface of the website. How it shows pictures of your specific dash, and where and how the phone will sit. Very expensive. I mean 65 bucks, for the setup and that is only the mount and swivel. No way. When the real Nexus One docks come out. The Car Mount is going to be 50 and the desktop mount will be 40. Both the dock's will use the gold contacts on the bottom for charging. And the car dock should have options to work directly with car stereo (optional of course).
Wait guys it's coming about 10 day is my guess.
Well mine came in the post today. Screwed onto the existing mount I had for my Touch Pro 2 just fine. The N1 does indeed fit fine but is very tight. Didn't scratch the phone and no way is it falling out when horizontal.
I've been using my Iphone in car with this dock.
Just Mobile Xtand Go (google it)
I was really impressed to see that it EXACTLY fits my N1
IMHO, it's really the best dock around
now...i am just missing FM transmission.
Would you need pics...please request
I am using this car dock until the real Nexus One docks are ready. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001DQQBVW...e=asn&creative=380341&creativeASIN=B001DQQBVW
If you are looking for a good bluetooth stereo for your nexus that works really well. Try this one. http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_105KDA805/JVC-Arsenal-KD-A805.html?search=JVC+KDA805&ssi=0
Once you sync your stereo with your phone the first time. You can just leave your phone in your pocket if you want, you can answer phone calls from your stereo, or even make them from your stereo if you want, you can listen to music from your phone on the stereo by just using the stereo's remote. With you phone still in your pocket.
If a person doesnt want to replace their stereo and just want's to use a fm transmitter. Get the motorola t505 I used it for 3 months it does work. Hands free driving syncs with any stereo any car. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875982214&Tpk=motoraloa t505
The ProClip holders are quite nice, but I think the Omnia II might be a better fit:
Nexus One: 119 x 59.8 x 11.5
Omnia II: 118 x 59.6 x 12.3
Omnia i8910: 123 x 58 x 12.9
The OmniaII's width is just .2mm thinner than the Nexus and thickness is only .8 thicker.

BEST Phone holder.. BY FAR
bought this to use with my G1 back when the Sprint Hero Nav app was dumped.. used it many times and works excellent with the Nexus One as well ... it rotates landscape and it unclips to use in the dash vent .. i originally wanted it because it doesnt interfere with the touchscreen and its low profile wont let it vibrate too much..and it has a good grasp on the phone without damage (i run a track setup on my suspension with competition spring rates and coilovers.. along with solid engine mounts)

looks good thanks!
Though I did order a car mount, i just spotting this one and like the fact it's made for the nexus one.. not sure if i'm going to get it or not and return the one i just ordered.

So whats up with car mount/holders?

I'am scanning ebay time to time, this one looks pretty nice to me:
http://cgi.ebay.com/M02-Car-Mount-H...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item230520b765
Has anybody tried this or any other solutions?
This is just a car mount.. the Google Car Dock will charge it and put it in some kind of NAV mode I am guessing..
But I am waiting too, much more excited about the car mount over the desktop one they sell.
i'm buying this one when my N1 arrives:
http://www.amzer.com/Amzer-Suction-Cup-Mount-for-Windshield-Dash-or-Console-P86726.htm
I have this one. You will need to modify (Heat and bend, file down slightly with dremmel) to make it work with a hardcase on the phone. I got it to work nicely.
I just bought a random car holder from a store with variable width and it works like a charm, cost like $10.
Might not have a built in charger, but I already have a usb charger for my car so it doesn't really matter.

I've been looking for a low profile secure vent mount for my benz. Might check this one out for $15!
Update: Just picked one up at PepBoys for $11.99!
FYI: it's brand name is TypeS Xgrip universal holder & model is AC30267-60/6
Update2: Took it back...way to flimsy!

Sony Liveview wort it? Vs. Pebble and newer sony smartwatch

so the liveview is $25 on amazon, the second gen sony smartwatch is $94, and the pebble is $150. I have preordered the pebble, but have yet to pay. I wanted to ask if the liveview is worth it in comparison, for the price being so cheap..i may just buy it to try it out since its so cheap. i have an htc one s with android 4.2, also does liveview have push notifications?.... any suggestions..thanks
When a Google search brings up the suggestion "Sony Liveview don't bother", you know you'll be wasting your money.
Those Amazon reviews paint a very negative picture.
See what kind of reviews the Pebble gets and decide from there. You'll likely get what you pay for.

got to respectfully disagree. For 20$ this thing is awesome.
I'd sort the reviews by date.
Also, consider the technical sophistication of your average user.
If you are posting on xda - you are the top 1% generally.
This thing is awesome.
There's a new firmware and client software out from sony that obviates pretty much all of the old problems.
AND there's an Open Live View reverse engineering effort that is 90% functional already!
This thing is badass!
imho.

yea i ended up getting it for $27 off amazon with expedient shipping. so i should get it soon and im hoping it works well with my htc one s...and for that cheap why not...much better than spending $150 on a pebble that ill get in like 6 months
i got my liveview, and id say its worth the money...it does what it says it does, though it sometimes disconnects...im glad i bought this and didnt spend 150 on a pebble, since its kinda of a gimmick... i mean its basically a pager on your wrist, but 27$ for it, i cant complain
For $20-30, it is a steal. Unfortunately they don't ship to my country, otherwiser I would have ordered an extra one as well.
I saw the Pebble, and frankly, I miss a two quite important functions from it that the liveview has: volume up and down as a music remote. Yeah, most likely someone will figure out how to add them to the 3-button-only interface (long press track skip would be ok) but till then, I'll go with my Liveview. Even if the connection is still not rock solid. Yeah, it is much, MUCH better than it was, but still not 100% if you are skipping music tracks left and right.
Another thing to watch out for: the frames are extremely fragile. Yes, even the metal clip-on frame. My wristwatch frame has a holding clip broken off (so it is useless as the LV falls out of it quite easily) and the clip-on is broken at the microUSB connector part. I actually had to attach the LV with a piece of masking tape to the frame so it won't fall out. I'm thinking of supergluing it there.
i found sony liveview a good smart watch but this is depending of what you demand from it
i found that it offers me the basic functionalities with cheap (really cheap) price
may be you found it a little bit dull (its look is not that great for some people), but who cares
It all depends on what you want to do with it, for me I wanted to use it as a cycling computer that worked with my phone using the my tracks app which worked perfectly so I love it for that and it only cost me $25. If you buy it just for the hell of it and don'd really know what is available for it then you might hate it, also I haven't encountered any issues with it disconnecting with my phone as others have had but it can be difficult to set up at first.

I just got my liveview so far so good I bought one when it first cam out switch to an HTC amaze and it didn't work at all so I got rid of it, switched to a samsung note 2 and since I rarely had a problem with my old nexus s and t959 I figured it was worth getting it over the pebble I synced it about 2 hours ago and no disconnects and everything seems to be working fine
Sent from my SGH-T889V on the WIND network
Mine frequently disconnects, and I also had issues with the clip not holding, so I was a little disappointed. That being said, I only paid $22 for it, so I can't be too upset. I only need it to be able to discreetly check text messages at work, so it serves its purpose.
Sent from my HTC Flyer using xda app-developers app
Hello,
I was in a position like you at one point here's my take on it:
I considered the Liveview when it came out, but the reviews were horrible. Personally felt it looked a bit cheap for a wach... I saw the price drop, but since I can't get the US deals, I gave up on that one.
I then saw the pebble, but missed the kickstart. Noticing that the shipping date was so far away (and the price of $150 seemed too high), I looked elsewhere.
I found a nice balance with the Sony Smartwatch. It's cheaper than the pebble, and the general reviews are better than the previous liveview. I also like how they bundle the 20mm watch strap adapter so you can make it look better with other straps. This is what I ended up getting and I'm quite happy since all I really need was for my notifications to show up on my watch (free app for that!). Cost me about $100 AUD, but I've seen it cheaper in US sites.
just purchased one last night and i should be getting it on saturday. will post my thoughts on it. not expecting too much for $22 but im still excited!
I kickstarted the Pebble. I had another Android smartwatch on preorder until I realized the Pebble is the only waterproof one. I dreaded the thought of washing my hands wrong, or getting caught in the rain and ruining my $300 watch. The $115 Pebble seemed like a no brainer, all things considered.
With that said, the Pebble SDK still isn't public yet, so there's currently a severe lack of functionality. The Pebble has piqued my interest in smarter watches though, so I've been keeping my eyes peeled for better alternatives.
I think the year of the smartwatch is coming soon. Especially if the rumors of an Apple iWatch are true.
Have mine for a half year now. I use it almost every day. It's pretty useful if you are listening to music via your phone in car and want to skip a song etc. . Also the Camera Watch function is pretty funny
i can only speak about the liveview since i have not bought a smartwatch yet.
as you can see within this thread and on openliveview.com, custom firmware developement and a liveware manager replacement is in developement.
the custom liveware manager replacement you can find here, has all the functionality the liveware manager has, except plugin support (wich is currently in developement)
besides, it has a notification implementation that is pretty similar to how custommessagenotifier works.
the firmware is yet not for daily usage since it does not put the watch into deepsleep yet and has no bluetooth support yet.
a big minus would be that you need to kindoff break your wristband holder to charge the liveview.
overall i'd say, the liveview is currently extremely customizable since the custom manager and the custom firmware are opensource.
to the smartwatch:
it has bluetooth 4 instead of 1.1 (liveview) wich makes the bluetooth battery drain pretty small and it could theoretically even be ported to iphone.
the screen is the same except it has multi touch instead of 4 tap keys.
it has more internal storage than the liveview so a custom firmware would be more awesome on it.
overall i'd say, its better than the liveview but unless we devs get our hands onto it, there will mostly not be a custom manager / rom soon, so you will need to stick to connection issues and sony's creepy try to write software.
It seems a good idea this new project.
Since 2 years, the LiveView is not on my wrist but on my desk.
Liveview is so worth it considering the price.

I got mine for $15. I can't even find a cheap wristwatch at walmart for that much. The Liveview is a watch, but has some added functions which are pretty cool. Worth every penny of my $15.
Been planning on buying this for my Samsung Galaxy Nexus running on Jellybean 4.2.2 just wanted to ask if anyone can tell me if this watch is compatible on my device and android version. Just recently got ahold of bluetooth headset (Nokia BH-503) can this watch has capability to override handsfree and music controls of bluetooth headsets.
Now that I think of it, can I pair to devices on a phone at once? Asking because here in my country this costs 30$.

Synergy wireless charger

Hey everyone, I stumbled upon this Kickstarter project and thought I would share with everyone the link. I backed it up because it really looks like a solid wireless charger that could definitely make life easier, not to mention it looks pretty sweet. Anyone who is able to should go back this up as well so the creators can meet their goal. Well, here is the link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cellinnovations/synergy-worlds-best-wireless-smartphone-charger

This idea looks perfect !
I rly have trouble to buy car dock for my S4, before samsung, i was using htc sensation, with original car dock and its was pretty cool, just plug phone in dock and its going to automobile mode and charges? now i dont know what to do with S4 i havent seen any car dock like i have with HTC...
Synergy looks perfect solution of my problem, but price...
I like my toys, but $125 for a charging stand seems a bit high. In addition, the micro-suction technology probably wont work with many of the cases like Otterbox or UAG since a very smooth surface is needed to adhere to the back of the phone.
Based on the Kickstarter goal to raise $150K and they are only at $27K with 16 days to go, it looks like others may be doubting this idea too.

Why do you assume it use 'micro-suction'? it does not. it is magnetic.
And it is a High End device, so $95 for the stand + the base for the car including the wire tap to integrate directly in the car is not outrageously expensive.

I don't think a magnet would be strong enough to hold the phone to the base. Someone said it was magnet + micro-suction. I thought $95 was only the kickstarter promotional price with full retail at $125.
At this point let's wait to hear first hand accounts from users. If it gets funded, has rave reviews and can hold the phone with an Otterbox or UAG case then I will get one.
9 days left with $120K still needed. That's over 1000 more backers needed!
I wonder if this project will get funded.
