Custom bootloader - HD Mini Android Development

Hi after some time im'm back to bootloader test. I'm tried to port JumpSPL loader for our photon and i'm aplied Cotulla asm patch to code, also created Makefile, but i think this jumpspl code need some small edits to be able to load custom spl into memory. If you have time to look into source and fix it, this will be great. I'm tried to load custom bootloader and here is log:
Code:
-----------------------
SPL File: \Storage Card\My Documents\hboot_0.90.0000_720d6ffc74.nb0
Jump Address: 0x0
kmode is 0
SPL file size: 524288 bytes
Trampoline setup (tram=52 bytes @ virt 00012164/ virt=18012164/ phys=01e3e164)
And here is my modified source + compiled exe, photon original spl extracted from image, allso in attachment is new haret and new zImage (removed console text at startup)
Here is original jumpspl source
P.S. need help here because i want to try to load HSPL from other device!!!

do i need to copied the t.rar and spl.rar to my sd card ? I would look or battery charge works on my phone

I just copied haret.exe and zimage from t.rar to my sd.
then use the new haret exe with the android icon to launch

................

JumpSPL thread, OK?
DO NOT CHARGE UNDER ANDROID !!

NEW Problem
yesterday i installed the new Haret , and Zimage. I shut it down to charge in windows mobile. today i wanna start haret again and it says :
Haret the file can not be opened. it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of the components was not found. You must file may have to reinstall or repair if the problem continues to meet vision
what's the problem? i had never problems with android but since the last haret and Zimage i cannot open haret anymore
i look by installed programs , there is nothing. I think only option is hard reset. But will i loose al my programs ans stuff for android to?

I have used a hard reset and it works again fine. BUT i not jused the last HARET and Zimage. i used the package from 04-05-2011. But from cardsharing was better because the time was correct and the display was fine. It loaded faster and saw no bootscreen

Incredibly! Is this topic related to custom boot loader ?? I will not reply you here bacause this topic is not for zImage!
Xda developers forum realy need moderators for htc hd mini because working is not possible

if you gave zImage to download why you expect to don't get questions about it?
Be organized and others will respect that and will do the same
OR
Be messy and recieve mess on your threads...

yes, you're right, but again, little attention and reading the title issues would not be bad. Complete topic is gone in the wrong direction

AJZ Hero Speedup Script

if you want a certain script added, chances are some1 else does too. if you have an idea, or find a script you want added, please either post or PM me. i take a look at this thread alot throughout the day, so i will be able to see your ideas quickly. YOUR IDEAS ARE IMPORTANT
first of all, i did not write this script, i took it from the thread HTC Hero Speedup v2.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521421), which was put together by tehseano, who i must thank, however, it seems to only work for Haykuro's Hero ROM
THIS SCRIPT is made to speedup the HTC HERO rom on the g1's. my speedup script is made to work under JACman's. if tried on someone elses, you could brick your phone (although i doubt it), and i will not take responcibility for bricks
trying to use it under JACman 1.72, i couldn't get tehseano's script to work, so im going through a bunch of tweaking and editing for it to work under JACman roms (im guessing twistedumbrella's too).
currently, i'm about to release version 0.2. - released
i have fixed most of the directories and codes except for Battery fix, i have gotten the HTC camera to work, read the readme file
out of curiosity, does any1 have any preference on where i upload the files? want someplace easy and fast, so no rapidshare or anything like that. first working suggestion gets it
please do not use option #8 once it is up, it is not done yet
everything else should be good. this is made STRICTLY for JACman roms, not haykuro's, but twistedumbrella's should work, since it is based off of JACmans
____________________________________________________________________________________________
version 0.2 - http://www.4shared.com/file/113524687/c98398cd/AJZ_HeroSpeed_02.html
very minor changes
fixed the scripts
working on a battery fix
version 1.0 will be more compatible with JAChero 1.8, i expect to release that in the next few day, but this might not be possible because i'm going on vacation
_____________________________________________________________________
I ACCIDENTLY UPLOADED THE BAT AS A TXT FILE. im not gunna change it, so until the next release, just rename the file as a bat
0.1.5: http://www.4shared.com/file/113343120/6c89dd65/AJZ_HeroSpeed_015.html
i must thank dpgc213 for creating the original lockscreen change bat file
Changes:
deleted option to delete pc sync, causes bootloops and doesnt exist
added possibility to change the screen lock image (although doesnt have to do with speed)
added quick directions for changing the lock screen image
____________________________________________________________________________________________
version 0.1 - http://rapidshare.com/files/247165073/hero_speedup_2.0_AJZ_0.1.zip
here's a mirror of 0.1 http://www.4shared.com/file/113320662/7e513586/hero_speedup_20_AJZ_01.html
in version 0.2, expect to see support for the deletion of htc sync, and support for changing your lock screen
can you please include instructions for mac users? thanks good work
did you get it to work with JACman 1.72, you said you would try to tweak it, but did not say if you were successful?
I dont know how to apply the script cuz its made for windows, If some1 put instructions plz?

#2 just deletes your htc sync, which idk what it does anyways.
in 0.2, i will try to fix this, as well as add support to change your lock screen
i got the change lockscreen part in, now just gatta see the problem with htc sync

When I ran option 3, 6 and 5 in that order without a reboot and then reboot after I did all those I got a bootloop, when I did #5 it was saying success on each one. If I installed dextop-wrapper awhile back like weeks ago do I have to install it again because I didn't install it. I figured I still had it.

Yes.
That's what I'm using ti with. And it's made Rosie completely usable for the first time for me.
Has anyone had the experience where Rosie was really fast when first optimizing using whatever procedure but then lags down over time? That was what I experienced when using a different optimizer. Hopefully this one is consistent.

All you wanted to know about Android on Polaris and never dared to ask

Just trying to make an easy access to android.
Note Android porting to polaris is under development so some things doesn´t work, versions change quickly (this is not a bad thing!) and sometimes something work for most ppl but not for all! devs may not try to correct this specific issues yet as we are on an early stage and maybe those specific issues get corrected as we advance
Bluetooth not working yet.
LATEST NEWS
-15-09 improved camera quality, should work well now (i still need to start cam on winmo in order to work well)
-Working camera, manual zoom

Installing Android with Wifi on Polaris: the easy way updated:15-10-09
0) Delete all android related files before trying the bundle. previous data.img should be deleted
1) Download and unzip android full http://rapidshare.com/files/293363380/android-15-10-09.rar
note that now any bundle can run with wifi on polaris. please check post #4 for bundles
2) Open default.txt and search for "board-htcpolaris.panel_type=1" (it´s a small file)
There are 2 different polaris and you should change this value according to yours.
POLA200 (rounded bottom) 0 or 3 (3 prefered) http://img.gsmarena.com/vv/pics/htc/htc-touch-cruise-01.jpg
POLA100 1 or 2 http://www.infotec-service.com/shop/images/HTC/htcCruise00.jpg
3) Copy the files to the root of your sd card
4) run Haret.exe from your polaris
ISSUES
audio on phonecalls doesn´t work
1) you need to make the first phone call.
2) radio 1.59.xx is recommended
3) even with 1 and 2 some ppl still have problems (me for example)
DETAILS
- basefiles-20091009 , zImage-15-10-09, rootfs 15-10-09 and Ion-v1.5-2009-09-12-sdcard (system)
FLAVORS
- Ion´s Google-polaris-Ion-2009-09-12.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/280093611/Google-polaris-Ion-2009-09-12.rar
(this is devs prefered bundle. if you stay with thisyou´ll probably get more support etc)
- mssmisonpackage-0911.zip (rogers) works FAST.mssmisonpackage-polaris-0911.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/280130360/mssmisonpackage-polaris-0911.rar
(language support .. at least spanish, pdf viewer..and some more goodies)
Won´t give support for other bundles as:
- Hero builds are still "experimental" last one is extremly slow on polaris. not usable
- Other builds aren´t as tested as this and may be more buggy

Wow... Nice Thread. Thx
Good thread !!!
Hi Iseeka,
Very good idea to have this thread.
I'm not an expert but maybe it is important to mention that POLA100 devices usually go for panel type 1, while POLA200 devices usually choose panel type 3.
There is some option in the default.txt file to add the APN settings for data connection, but personally this has not worked for me, since still you have to configure these APN settings in Android Settings once booted.
I saw you are still going to add a link for the downloaded file, so I wonder if it is necesary to explain what to do with system.sqsh... I personally dont know, I have only used system.img files but it would be nice to know how to use them.
thanks for this initiative.
JM
EDIT: OK, after my post, the explanation about Panel type appeard, thanks! In my case I identifyed my Polaris as POLA100 because of the label on the handset after removing battery.

I think Cyanogen has wifi driver built-in.. (if you talk about bally´s modded cyanogen has driver built in).
Can u please delete wlan.ko, boot again and see if wifi still works? In that case wlan.ko is inside system.img and we have better wlan.ko (18 or the new one wich is better)

I think is 08/08/09 system.img but I´m not sure. This version is used by developers to test as it´s a stable and tested version.
This is the only build with full wifi support. (Bally3 made 2 bundles (cyanogen and another) with wlan.ko inside the build so updates in wlan.ko are missing
Devs are working on 2 more bundles
1 Newbie16 on a hero based (is going to be complex with sd partitioning)
2 DJ_Steve on a donut version (is going to be without partitioning)

I don´t know about this version. as far as i know the ion build included in my package is the only one that loads an external wlan.ko file.
can you please try if deleting wlan.ko still works wifi? if still works it doesnt load the external one.Or give me link and i´ll check if i can
BTW if it loads external, you can try with wlan.ko and zimage from my bundle (new wlan.ko is improved and also allow to load any compatible kernel)

[WORKING!] Android on XDA Orbit 2

Since I posted a thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=675311 and nobody could help me. I spent the past 5 days trying to get it to work and did it successfully (through haret).
Here's how to did it:
1. Download this .RAR I put together that includes:
-Eclair
-haret
-default.txt
2. Edit the "mddi.width=320 mddi.height=480" part of the "default.txt" to your needs. (either 320/480 or 240/320)
3. Put the content of the folder "android-orbit2-eclair" to the root of your SD card so it should be something like this:
Code:
-(D:) SD Card [COLOR="Red"](root)[/COLOR]
--conf
--media
--default.txt
--haret.exe
--initrd.gz
--rootfs.img
--system.sqsh
--zImage
4. Navigate to the SD Card (start>programs>file explorer>storage card) and click on the "haret.exe"
5. Once that has loaded up click "run" (about 3 lines down on right side)
6. Just wait, Give it chance to do its thing and simple... Android running on your XDA orbit 2.
any problems, reply to this thread and I will try to fix.
Thanks, James
it dosent work on my htc touch cruise.
I click on Run, and the screen becomes gradually black, and that finished as that… nothing any more occurs.
The screen is lit, but is black, and nothing occurs.
New problem now: I have the same message than you :
Code:
sh:2: unknown operand
losetup: /dev/block/loop 1: No such file or directory
Failed
Failed to reach system.img on SD card.
Whats the problem ?

If you read the title it says for XDA orbit 2 not touch cruise.
Have you managed to get gprs/3g working with this? I can't seem to get mobile web working on my XDA Orbit II
I dont know whart u are doing here.
But i can use myns donut and eclair totally easy without modding something.
I just have to use the right "default.txt"...
Most packages you find here habe a "default-polaris.txt" in it or you use the one form myn ... It works great for the orbit 2 too
.....
But maby i dont get what you are doing here.. some special build or something?
BUt running android on orbit 2 is net a problem at all just use right conf.
-----------------------
@moondemon
Wifi works with myns eclair and donut. There are fixes (androidupdate.tar) you have to use (nomorootfs)
could u tell me which version have u installed? 1.6?
I succeeded installing the 1.6 version. but when I was trying installing the latest version, I was stucked at the screen which requires me to long-push the dpad center button. I did it but didnt work. I've even tried every keys, still didnt work.
could u give me a hand on it?
I have tried myn's and default-polaris does not work on my xda orbit 2. Also when I do get haret to run I have had trouble actually getting android to boot due to a continual "power wakeup" message. The default-polaris results in a flashing white screen for me. This config is the only config that actually works on my orbit 2.
Hello, i am just a newbie on Android for Polaris, so plz forgive me dump postings At the moment i am a bit spacy what i have to put together to work Android on my XDA2.
android-orbit2-eclair works on my XDA2 after installing but:
phone can't do outgoing calls:
3G can`t connect,
Cam/Gallery crashes
Wifi works.
Touchscreen works and all the rest.
before i installed the recent builds of froyo and eclair
System shows 10-15 min nice boot flash, then it works, but touch screen doesn`t work.
Anyway all the developers doing a great job here!
rgds Matthias
Im not using sd haret anymore. If you try with nand flash (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636024) everything works like a charm.
But as i used haret on my Orbit2 i was good with the package myn offered in her donut(or eclair im not sure).
In the package were a default.txt and a one for polaris/Orbit. I changed the polaris one to default (renaming) and it worked.
I think it was the donut package and it worked with zimages for eclair too.
Try this package if it works its worth a attemp to look into the default txt for other builds.
But atm i would suggest to give android at flash a try. Its almost perfekt for daily use if you not to much with some special programms on winmo.
As far as i read there are problems with haret atm gernerally that programms close even if install is fine.
Seems that flashing is the solution to all my problems, but
can you try to explain what makes the difference between haret and a NAND flash install relatet to the runing system?
Unfortunaley my XDA Obit2 is the carrier of my beloved navigation software. The other Wimo apps are junk compared with android. If there is a offline solution for Car Navigation on android, i could kick Wimo into the trash bin. Also i am a Linux user as well on my PC

I've tried it and it seems it works, but I have a few questions and one major problem:
1. I installed the systems without the SIM card. When I started it again with SIM card, system says that the PIN I type is wrong altough I know that it's correct. How to solve it? Maybe it is so because I'm not O2 customer?
2. Is it possible to boot Android automatically without flashing NAND?
3. Can I theoretically Install Donut or Froyo using this method simply by putting different Zimage in the folder?
4. Do I have to perform another installation in case of buying a battery of more capacity? I saw that default.txt contains information about the battery.
5. May it work well If I change default.txt to the one prepared by atools?
Thanks for advance and greetings.

Screen does not respond while using Android

I have tried both Incubus26jc's Super Froyo (RLS8) and VaniljEclair RLS7c . I manage to install them in sd card (I want to use them via haret.exe) but when I reach the welcome screen where I have to touch the android to continue, the screen does not respond ( D-pad and center button work). Could someone help me? I decided to open a new thread because of what I have searched, I found only one member with a similar (but not the same) problem
The installation method I follow is this (mostly copied from a SuperJMN's post):
1º Run HaRET
2º From the installer, select Install System
3º Choose install update (if any)
4º Choose to fix permissions (if there had been an update)
5º Reset (don't select "Quit", just reset, this is to avoid problems)
6º Wait for Windows Mobile to start and run HaRET again.
Although I am flashing to nand and you are using haret/zimage, we may have the same problem with the unified touch screen driver that DZO implemented around 16 June. Is there is a way to use the kernel .nbh and system .tar with haret, rather than zimage? If so, you might try using an older kernel from before 16 June ... or perhaps an older zimage.
I have similar problem, if not the exactly the same. Using an older kernel seems to be a workaround of this problem. hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7041656&postcount=21 (You need to fix the hxxp as appropriate as I am not allowed to link URL yet)
i have the similar problem too, havent fixed it :/
I tried zImage-12-06-10 (the last one before the 16th of June) and installation procedure did not even start. But zImage-29-04-10 worked for me. However, Froyo is not that fast. If I change any files (zImage or something else) is it possible to have a speed improvement?
Same problems.
All Android realeases work on my pola100 only with zImage 29.04.10.
No work with other kernel.
I suggest to developers to analyse 29.04.10 and try to understand WHY this works and others no.
Regards.

It would be nice if this worked for the Polaris ... how would I change the value of this parameter before flashing the kernel? Thanks!

files for a fast android version
Could someone with a fast and stable version of eclair or froyo please tell us what files did he/she used to make that happen because I installed incubus froyo build and it is a bit slow? I am talking about installing it in my sd card and run it using haret.exe

Simple how-to run android from windows

TO ALL PEOPLE:
PLEASE STOP POSTING IN THIS TOPIC ABOUT "THIS PART DOESN'T WORK ECC ECC" WRITE IN THE TOPIC OF THE RELEASE (KERNEL OR SYSTEM), PLEASE LOOK IN THIS THREAD FOR WORKING SETUPS AND TRICKS, AND SEARCH ON THE FORUM BEFORE POSTING!
I start with thread with a information for all users:
Haret system sucks so if you want a full working android system left windows behind you and move to the new android world flash on nand.
With this how-to you will not erase any part of your system but you do at your own risk.
Main problem: screen
For polaris there are 3 type of screen. Usually pola100 (the old one) use panel 1, and pola 200 (09 edition) has panel 3 but ... not always works...
The best mode to test is try to install and after double reboot you have black screen change panel type.
What you need:
phone
sd card (1 Gb or more) 500 mb free
time
Update guide: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/androidhtc/wiki/HowToInstallWithAtoolsHaret

Do we have to delete/remove the install-seq.sh after installation?
Are both files (system & data) cleared with the installation script?
Thanks for the help.
install-seq.sh disable automatically after correct install.
This how-to is fir first install on disk on images so it format both data an system.
If you want to make only un update use bsg select partion and select update.
partition
I believe you should make this sticky
Don't post without reading!!!!
This method doesn't use sd partition, it create two imagedisk on sd!
working android

hi there..
i solved the problem..i took an older Z image..and working fine
the problem is that more applications like camera..media player screen adjust don't work..
they try to run..(i mean ..in camera..i can see..but appears a messages with stop working..sorry). i don't know why..
nothing work well
and what about the contacts..how can i get them from my Sim card?
i don't know..
if you can help me will be great.
thx allot for yours assistance.
best regards.
The information from sim card are very limitated (neither pin code works) so if you want to export contact sync before starting with google and configur your google account on android.
old zimage are full of bugs and all developers install android on nand so starting android from haret has many unfixed bugs.
I've been playing around with the haret install for a week or so now, and I've found that, for me at least, it makes a huge difference which initrd.gz file I use.
The one dated 22-05-10 doesn't let me install any zImages newer than 29-04-10. After trying all sorts of combinations of base files with different dates (haret, zImage) and additions to the default.txt, changing the initrd.gz file to the one dated 20-02-10 fixed most of my problems and lets me install the most recent zImage files without a glitch.
No clue why, just that it works.
I'm running a Pola100 with the original WM6.0 ROM still on it, and radio version 1.58.25.14. Yeah, I need to upgrade to at least the official WM6.1 ROM and probably something better. But I'm a newbie at this, so I need to work up some courage first ;-)
hello,
I tried to install android on sd following your instructions, everything seems to go well until the screen where it says:
"Welcome to htc vogue Frøya
touch the android to begin "
I'll try, but the touch does not work, I tried using the d-pad, which does work, but I can only select the language and the emergency call.
zImage as I used: zImage-Frøya-15-07-10
androidinstall.tar as I used: Incubus26Jc's Super Frøya RLS11 Themed
please help me because I would switch to Android!
thanks

where can I find it?
thanks
I tried it unsuccessfully. Boot starts regulary, always ending on repeating error, looping forever.
I can read something like:
==============
ERROR no local apt for prog ... replying anyway
...
Setting function 4 for gpio ... that I don't own
==============
Is it related to which system file ? Loader? Kernel ? Or what ?
Thanks
What did you use for your installation?
I used the files mentioned at the very beginning of this post.
Regarding zimage: zimage-24-05-10
