[Q] Swype Keyboard - T-Mobile LG G2x

The G2x I played with at T-Mobile had a Swype Keyboard, question is can you re-install swype after custom rom or do I have to apply for the beta program like with my N1.
If I remember when I applyed to swype bata about six months ago the rules were that the beta would not work on a phone that originally came with swype installed.

Ditto, does anyone have the answer? I would like my swype keyboard back too.

Some roms come with swype installed. I know for sure cm7 does not have it installed but weapon rom does.

Droid Multi Touch kb doesn't work with FroYo?

Is it just my phone, or does anyone else have the problem where using the droid x multi touch keyboard fc's with the FroYo update?
EDIT...running deodexed froyo with netarchy kernel and riptide theme.
I just installed it and yeah it is force closing on me too.
Have you played around with swype yet?...it is really bad ass.

If you haven't seen yet, the htc froyo keyboard now supports multi-touch, just throwing that out there.
I'm still using swype too btw, but the stock option is really quite nice.
Very true about the multi touch on the stock group sense keyboard. I like it. I however dislike the sound of the space and the enter. If anyone could verify the change it would be great.

NO it does not work. It will not work until Froyo comes out on the DroidX and someone ports over the new version.
Look at this thread, someone has a Droidx running 2.2
I still use swype (quite frequently). However, I still prefer pecking for really long posts for whatever reason.
And yeah...I did realize that the new HTC keyboard does have multitouch and a better word correction system...so I guess this keyboard is obsolete now

Swype not auto spacing in sms

So I don't seem to have a problem with swype any where but in the stock sms app. No problem in the xda app, or browser. I am trying tk run the phone 100% stock at the moment, so I don't want to install hand cent yet. Any ideas?

known issue with the swype beta...
There's a swype that works on this phone, and some other apps similar to swype. Search the forums and you'll find what you're looking for. I don't think I can post a URL for you but it's all here. I found it by searching google.
Yes, it is a known issue with the Swype Beta on Thunderbolt. No automatic capitalization or spacing using the Sense SMS. Also, Swype will occasionally crash, requiring you to select the stock keyboard and switch back before it starts working again. Give SwiftKey a try (I'm really enjoying SwiftKey right now) or search for an older version of Swype which will work on the Thunderbolt. Another option would be to use Handcent. Good Luck!
Handcent works great.

i found going to tesla rom allowed swype to work but yeah handcent is not a bad alternative
FlexT9... Blows Swype out of the water.

Install Android Swype

How do I install Swype on G2X?
Is the only thing I really miss from Samsung Galaxy S 4G
Wrong swction, general would be a better section.. google swype website and it gives you instructions there, nothing g2x specific....... did you try looking before posting this?

Swype is pre-installed on the G2x, just hold down in the area you want to type untill a box comes up that gives you options, one of the options is to change input method. select that, then select swype. Please, read your owners manual
Yup it is....

Yep I was bummed out about swype then I remembered about the input options lol d'oh
Yup. Pre-installed.
I downloaded the Gingerbread Keyboard from the Market since I'm used to CM7.
Thread needs deleted or moved....
I don't know what it is, I just saw it in the box. I'm a married man, you think I have time to read a user guide, it was more of a joke. But I'm glad you found your swype.

After installing a custom ROM my swype has been lost.
Anyone know how to add the swype keyboard back to custom ROMS?
Join the Swype beta.

Hahahah I'm sorry but you guys are funny Hahahah
Joining the swype beta is a good idea even if you're using a ROM with swype built in; beta is newer and is a lot better.
Also, in the market there is a keyboard called T-Swipe Pro. It is a great swipe type keyboard and can do swipe in Thai and Japanese if you want also. It works great for English also. You can try it for free from the Android Market.
I have swype pre installed on my phone. I was wondering how you update it on the G2X. I join and did everything it said but thought i read somewhere you can updated it if its been per installed. do anyone know if this is true or what?

Swype...

Hey, I know there is a working copy floating around... not the beta but just something that works for the inc. Been looking and can't find it, anyone mind PMing me the file? Thanks!
Why don't you just get the open beta?
All you do is register on their site and they give you a download link.
https://beta.swype.com/android/create/
I am registered... tried the installer... didnt work for some reason :-/
I don't know what the exact error is with your installer, but sometimes 1 of 15 nightly flashes I would have to reinstall swype because swype would give me an error about having the license registered to another device. I would have to uinstall swype, reboot, install swype through the swype installer, and reboot again. Swype forums also has instructions for reseting the license so you can install on another device.
I had a real hard time install swype when I was in france for some reason. In the swype forum it said something about having trouble authenticating.
Swype beta is really awesome and I wish you luck getting it installed.
I'm using this beta and works just fine.

Same here. I have had the beta for months now and it is working fine.
Although, I have been using thumb keyboard for the past week or so and even with the quirks it is much faster than swype.

Holy ****, a thread about swype almost NEVER lasts this long without being locked. But, I notice that the Swype Beta does NOT work on miui - unless i place it under /system/app with libswypecore.so
I've been using the Beta for a long time - work's great, but it MUST be installed using their installer. And then, of course, you have to turn it on (select it in keyboards).
Applanet has a working download. Try flexT9, AWESOME swype replacement much more accurate and looks better/predicts better.
Bit of a CPU hog sometimes.

Is this the official swype beta that is now working?
My official beta would not work, but a version posted elsewhere in these forums works fine...
Swype Beta worked for me
The swype beta worked for me on my MyTouch 4G (Glacier) I will see if it works on my One S today.
Official Swype beta installed just fine on my one s stock, unrooted.
Ps, we don't have Swype pre installed, that is an HTC keyboard with Swype features.

I installed the apk from the previous post and worked then later I got a message saying there was an official beta update.installed the official and works great.

Does anyone know how to get different colored themes for the new version of swype? I realize there is modded apk's but I read a review on The Verge and it is white. I doubt a tech review site would modify it for a review.
Here's the link to the article I'm talking about, I want that version!:

I never got a message, but have now installed the official beta as well.
About 5 minutes after installing, I got a random reboot on my phone which I have hardly ever had. Hope it is not related....
Downloaded this a few days ago, working great except one problem...
Sometimes when I press the space button it close the keyboard and goes to the home screen (yes I'm sure I wasn't accidentally pressing home button ). Mainly noticed in stock messaging app, and I always get the toast notification "Swype will automatically insert a space for you".
Anyone else?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using XDA
happens to me sometimes too...thought maybe the home key was a little sensitive or I have fat fingers
I have both the older swype and the one that was offered lately running on the One S.
What i find interesting is that the new Swype seems to be very different. The layout has changed, functions have been reordered, its faster, doesn't have its terrible lag anymore. Also now its offered under the company name of "Nuance" which i never saw before. It's a bit like a new keyboard.
Also, i am not sure it is as good as it used to be. I have ambivalent feelings for it at the moment.
But to answer to the main question of the thread: both versions run perfectly well on the One S and i had never had a reboot. I am on LeeDroid. I have had it on a rooted stock ROM (1.78 base) before.

Yes I agree. The latest was significant. It improves a lot of stuff.
I just want to be able to skin it again....:-(

You can still skin it...sort of. The problem is that unless you know their private key, you can't sign it properly. If you resign it, it will still install and function as a normal keyboard, minus the actual Swype feature. Sucks too because I've skinned it to match the stock keyboard beautifully. Oh well.
can anyone pm
Is there anyone that can PM me the link to get it? Or link to a drop box dl for the apk?
