How-to: Flash Orange SPV e650 to the HTC S710 firmware

This is a very complicated process, so my friend Sicko decided to write a guide
The 100% step by step guide to fix this is posted on my site (do not copy here please)

No the unbranding is needed for every HTC S710 that is sold under a different name. So in your case you would have to unbrand the phone as well.

The benefits from moving from SPV e650 (orange) firmware to HTC firmware is that the phone will become much more stable. A LOT of issues have been resolved in this firmware and you will also enjoy a longer battery time amongst other things.
Also, Orange is not very fast in updating the firmware, so you would also benefit from not having to wait 6 months before you can download the firmware from the Orange site.
The final benefit would be that you have an Orange SPV phone (like me) but do not have a contract with Orange but with another provider. Then you cannot download the firmware updates from the Orange website. Which is why I went through all this trouble in the first place

lost ActiveSync with USPL
Hello, I have follow all your guide but at the end of uspl_116_jockyw.bat, my e650's screen sometimes become black, like if it's shutdown, sometimes a screen with 4 colors is here. But all the time I lost ActiveSync.
I try to wait, to disconnect and connect the usb cabble, to kill ActiveSync and run ActiveSync nothing run.
I try to restart my phone et run the RUU...exe but it's finished with error with ID vender
Someone can help my?

did you reset to factory defaults before starting the update process? Make sure you follow each step of the guide closely and it should work...

I downloaded all the files and started the flashing and every thing was fine... At step 8, I followed some instructions but I didn't understand what to do when asked "excute spl now". So I just click any key to continue...then when excuting the ROMUpdateUtility.exe from the Vox-USPL-RUU.zip files, an error 270 occurs (with the message: "the image file is corrupted. please check your Update utility")
Is this error because of the step 8 (execute spl now)? Does any one has experience? elese, is the any other valid rom image?

I have just bought Orange SPV E650 and want it as HTC S710. and unlocked, because i'm on O2.
Well, the link above doesnt work.
I think i found a google-cache of that page here and it didnt work all the way to the end. Quoting it here just in case:

How-to: Flash Orange SPV e650 with RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship.exe HTC S710 firmware
This guide will do a step-by-step approach to successfully flashing your Orange SPV with the latest HTC S710 firmware upgrade (aka fixing the Invalid Vendor ID problem).
You need to have Winzip and ActiveSync installed to complete this guide.
IMPORTANT: Please follow each step (even if you think it's obsolete) or it will not work.The risk is entirely yours !! Don't blame me if you brick your phone
Reset phone to factory defaults:
Resetting your phone to factory defaults will DELETE ALL contacts information, calendar etc etc. Make sure you have made a backup of this data before proceeding.
1. Make sure your phone is turned OFF.
2. Press and hold soft1 and soft2 keys. (The menu keys above the 1 and 3 keys)
3. Press and hold the power button for around 1 to 1.5 seconds. Then release the power button. But keep holding the soft1 and soft2 keys.
4. The phone boots and asks to press the Send key to restore to factory defaults. Keep the soft1 and soft2 keys pressed and press the Send key (the key with the green phone icon).
The phone will now reboot and will be now reset to factory defaults. This can take a while, be patient. Wait until the phone has fully restarted before proceeding with the next steps.
Unbranding and unlocking the phone
Now it is time to unlock the phone so it will run unsigned applications (which is needed for the actual firmware flashing)
1. Connect the e650 to your pc via active sync
2. Download MoDaCo_SPV_E650_de_Brand___Fix_Pack.PREP.CAB
3. Download MoDaCo_SPV_E650_de_Brand___Fix_Pack_0.5.CAB
4. Download RemoveSecurity.CAB
5. Copy all three CAB files to your phone.
6. Start explorer on your phone and run and install the MoDaCo_SPV_E650_de_Brand___Fix_Pack.PREP.CAB file
7. Next run and install the MoDaCo_SPV_E650_de_Brand___Fix_Pack_0.5.CAB file.
8. Reboot your phone
9. Once your phone is rebooted run and install RemoveSecurity.CAB
10. Reboot your phone.
11. Download SDA_ApplicationUnlock.zip
12. Run the SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe inside the zip file. You should get a message that your phone has been unlocked.
13. Reboot your phone
Flashing the phone
Now that you have de-branded and unlocked the phone we can start the update process.
1. Remove the SD card from your phone.
2. Connect the e650 to your pc via active sync
3. Download Vox USPL- CID BYPASS.zip
4. Download Vox-USPL-RUU.zip
5. Download RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship.exe . This is the new firmware from HTC.
6. Right-click the RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship.exe and select extract to here using Winzip. The files should now unpack. Verify that there is a file called RUU_signed.nbh
7. Unzip Vox USPL- CID BYPASS.zip and start uspl_116_jockyw.bat
8. Follow the instructions until you see: now start a MTTY session or use RUU to flash any ROM message.
9. Unzip Vox-USPL-RUU.zip and run ROMUpdateUtility.exe. Click on Next twice. The application will now check your phone. Click on the Update button. Verify that you want to update the rom version:
from: image version 1.xx.xx.xx (could be anything)
to: image version vox-USPL <- this is important
10. Click on update and wait for the phone to be flashed. This can take a while.
11. The phone will reboot after flashing. Wait for the phone to reboot.
12. Start the uspl_116_jockyw.bat file again.
13. Follow the instructions until you see: now start a MTTY session or use RUU to flash any ROM message.
14. Copy the RUU_signed.nbh file you extracted from the RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship.exe file and copy it to the folder containing the extracted files from the Vox-USPL-RUU.zip
15. Start the ROMUpdateUtility.exe you unzipped from the Vox-USPL-RUU.zip
16. Click next twice. The application will now check your phone. Verify that you want to update the rom version:
from: image version vox-USPL
to: image version 1.34.405.1 <- this is important
17. Hit update to update your phone.
Your phone should now flash the HTC firmware without any problems.

Reset worked, unbranding worked partially - I dont know if security removal worked. Installed ok, but dont know if it worked. I can only say that past this point there is still a SIM lock. I cannot use my payg O2 card i use always. I have orange payg card which works, but i dont need it.
I run into problems on step 9 of flashing. It goes to 100% and drops an error (cant remember the number now). If i try to flash the full flash (steps 14-15) i get an error "[294] Invalid Vender ID". Thats pretty much it.
Can someone help me with this ?
Phone now is unbranded, interface changed, phone is working on Orange Payg card just fine. I want it in S710 flavor and without simlock.
Maybe there are some steps missing in this guide here ?
If someone experienced can help me i could provide all the data/versions of my phone here. Dont know what may be needed so wont post the whole lot of that crap.

Ah-ha... One clarification, which makes sense now and how it helped me to finish reflashing. Inbetween steps 8 and 9 - AFTER YOU SEE THE "now start a MTTY session" MESSAGE DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT PRESS ANYTHING WHEN THE MESSAGE IS SHOWN. Then just minimize the window and continue to step 9. the file "uspl_116_jockyw.bat" must be running when you execute ROMUpdateUtility.exe extracted from Vox-USPL-RUU.zip. Voila...

Vista
Will these instructions work on a Vista connecting with Windows Mobile Device Centre? I know when I had my last smartphone the updates wouldn' run on Vista.

I have make my update on vista but i dont use windows update on windows mobile.
If you have some trouble maybe you need to roolback the driver.

Thanx for making the guide!
Some additional comments:
-this procedure does NOT sim unlock your phone. For that contact your provider, or pay someone to do it.
-for some people/brands: you can start at step 11 (application unlock). THAT is the program you need to run the USPL!
the steps before are only necessary if application unlock doesn't work
(some can do with only running removesecurity before running application unlock and don't need debranding)
-step 1-4 to reset your phone is NOT needed, if you flash your phone it starts with the default startup of the ROM anyway
-that you loose the activesync is correct.
just run the rom updater and it will find your phone again
-sometimes the phone jumps out of the linux MTTY screen and resets. don't worry, that happens to many people. Just repeat the last step.

ps I can advice to install the WM6.1 v1.1 rom found here on XDA.
It is much faster and more stable then the HTC WM6 1.34 rom, and is based on official microsoft releases.

of the NoDo unbranded ROM: RUU_Gold_O2_DE_1.24.401.01_Radio_5.64.09.20_22.42.50.15U_NoDo
A. Pre-Requisites
If your Gold 7 Pro is flashed with a ROM of the following release:
1. RUU_Gold_O2_DE_1.07.207.01_Radio_5.62.09.03a_22.31.50.09U
then you can flash the following NoDo unbranded ROM and when you like you can comeback to your previous ROM
In case your Gold 7 Pro is flashed with a different of the above 1 ROM but your Firmware version at your phone settings>about>more information
is of the form xxxx.yy.zzzzz.207 i.e. with characteristic value 207
then you can also flash the following NoDo unbranded ROM, but you can comeback only to the above 1 ROM
B. Downloading
You must download the following 2 ROMs:
1. Download this zip ROM file: RUU_Gold_O2_DE_1.24.401.01_Radio_5.64.09.20_22.42.50.15U_NoDo_by_ansar
2. Download this zip ROM file: RUU_Gold_O2_DE_1.24.401.01_Radio_5.64.09.20_22.42.50.15U_NoDo_Signed_by_ansar
Extract the downloaded zip ROM files with an unzip / 7zip utility in separate folders of your choice
C. Flashing Process
In order to successfully flash the provided ROMs you must follow these steps:
1. Flash the ROM of the above (B.1.) extracted zip ROM file
2. After flashing Gold 7 Pro will remain at about 95% - 99%, just ignore it
3. Hold the Power Button untill Gold 7 Pro will power off and enter to the bootloader mode
4. In the screen of your computer the ROMUpdateUtility will report a flashing ERROR
5. Ignore it and exit from ROMUpdateUtility
6. Now flash the ROM of the above (B.2.) extracted zip ROM file
7. After flashing your Gold 7 Pro will boot normally
8. Exit from ROMUpdateUtility and proceed with your brand new ROM
If you do not want them you can delete all operator apps, in order to have more free RAM
Beware, in WP7 deleting an application means it is deleted from ROM
D. ROM Flashing Instructions
In order to flash a ROM follow these steps:
1. Press and hold power-on/off button to power-off the phone
2. Press and hold volume-down button and then press power-on/off button to enter bootloader mode
3. When your phone enters the tricolor screen bootloader mode, release volume-down button
4. Connect your phone to your windows 7/vista/xp pc/laptop with a usb cable
5. Verify that your phone will be identified and relevant drivers will be installed by windows os of your pc/laptop
6. After completion of (D.5.) above, check the usb message connection on your phone screen
7. To flash the ROM go to your pc/laptop folder where the downloaded zip ROM file is extracted
8. Double click on the ROMUpdateUtility.exe file and strictly follow the instructions on your pc/laptop screen

great to see that it is possible to get unbranded ROMs on our O2 HTC 7 Pro devices!
Three questions:
- does the unbranded version support more than just English and German?
- can you reupload ROM B.1? Rapidhare says "file note found"
- can I easily revert to O2 Branded 2250.10.12401.207 (NoDo March update, same Radio ans the unbrande ROM)

Sadly, it still couldn't update to the latest version of Windows Phone 7.
I then downloaded the UNBRANDED version, and tried installing this, and it has now worked.
How can that be?
I tried installing the unbranded version before, and it said that my ID was incorrect.
I have now got an unbranded HTC 7 Pro, and it has just updated perfectly to 7392.
SO.... Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
I will keep a copy of these roms in case anyone else needs them and the link doesn't work any more.

mango not officially released... better to wait then experiment with beta

Now I am unable to restore to my original backup, is it possible for me to use this to go back to the original build of nodo, or does anyone know is it possible at all to get a hold of the sprint build?

how did you flash to 7720.68? I thought the latest build that could be flash to the Sprint Arrive was 7720.10?

I had an issue with Zune and Microsoft told me to restore NoDo from my backup. My restore failed so I had to search from quite some time to find a ROM.
This ROM got me back to NoDo with no problems and everything was great but I cannot get my data services back. After a couple of hours, I took it to the Sprint store and they couldn't figure it out either. They ended up ordering a replacement device that's going be a few days before it gets here.
Is there something that I may have missed or done incorrectly? I'm not trying to flash it again and I'm getting an Error: 226 on every ROM I've tried since then.

Ansar. Your Signed Bootloader RUU works perfectly to Downgrade the Arrives Mango Bootloader from 4.3 to 1.25 as you supplied which worked perfectly to install the DFT HSPL #3 on the Arrive. Just want the headsup to be known so we can get some custom roms rolling on the Arrive. I have been dying for a fully unlocked device since release.
Maybe it is time to get back into Rom Cooking again... Hmm.

HTC 7 PRO there is no spl

Hi, i have htc 7 pro ( t7576) phone works fine (mango 7720.68) but in bootloader i have only pc92100 ss-bc (4k) and pc dont see handset, but when phone is fully turn on works great. Cannot upgrade/downgrade when phone is bootloader. Any way to fix it?

I think that your phone have locked bootloader mode. You installed shipROM ?

This FW was installed on phone : RUU_Gold_S_HTC_Europe_3.02.401.01_Radio_5.69.09.29a_22.50.50.21_Signed_GOLD_RELEASE
Phone was SPL , non h or r spl

Can you (and anybody with unbrick success), please, write here or to my PM next informations:
1. What is mechanism of your halbrick?
2. What ROM, SPL, unlock state is present on your phone before halfbrick and also the same before update applicating?
3. How you have sent cab file to phone (update cab sender or any coommand line with UpdateWP, full cab or only MODEM subcab)?
4. Have you any certificates problem?
5. Send you it to Mango or after any backup restore?

Yes, it is similar solution as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19607654#post19607654 , only in Azbuka. You can use simple feature USB A/F-A/F to working with GoldCard without bastling, with cables, which everybody have at home - see picture here http://htc7pro.howto.cz/ , external power (2,5 harddisc cable) is better to prevent flashing crash. MicroSD Nokia is not necessary, may be used any card, but you must code goldcard image (see XDA WP7 GoldCard threads), if your region is not equal to nbh file.

Hi, my phone is still in small half brick mode (no usb / serial).
Sorry, that i post little bit wrong information early.
Thanks to widdermann and Martin7Pro for additional information of GoldCard method.

I Have now fully working HTC 7 Pro.
My phones small half brick mode is history now...
I make GoldCard with my sons Android phone, Gold Card Tool, Media Lounge multi card reader, 2GB Micro SD card and self-made USB cables.

GOLDIMG.nbh from here h**p://htc7pro.howto.cz/Europe/goldimg.nbh
Now i have SPL version 1.22 instead 5.10.

There is no need to create goldcard if you firmware belong to your phone region.
You need just Y cable and cardreader. If you put another formatted microSD to phone it may be lock that card to.

i introduced the values correctly but i get that error..

should "Volume"=dword:C666C666 not be "Volume"=dword:3328624230
as written here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350437&page=5
this way it works fine for me, after restart of the phone!

Hi I have following problem:
in DFT v3 wifi does not work on 12 and 13 channel.
when my router is on channel 12 or 13 do not see it from the phone.

I'm on the V2 version and I have issues with the Volume buttons on the headset, the Volume Up button decreases the Volume. Only started after I went to the V2.
Anyone have a clue whats posting it? I don't want to update to V3 because I'd loose everything again

never had issues like you, did you reset the phone after
installing new ROM?
You have to do it, each time, you install new ROM,
power it down, press and hold volume up and down
and then power button, all three buttons at the same time,
follow on screen instructions.

1st you NEED to flash HSPL. But, before that, make sure that you have compatible SPL (bootloader) on your phone. Since you have got incompatible version 5.x of SPL and you're on carrier specific version of phone, you may unfortunately stuck on your stock ROM. You need to have 1.20 version of SPL on your phone and to do that follow ansars downgrade thread or guides to downgrade SPL. When you downgrade SPL, install stock 1.20 ROM (find suitable for you here) and when you're on stock ROM with SPL 1.20 install RSPL. When you install RSPL you can install any custom ROM including DFT or ansar. Make sure that you never install any update from zune so that you won't be stuck on incompatible bootloader. Also, be careful with these steps because there is always a risk if you don't follow the guides carefully.
