[Q] Issue applying themes in CWM 3 - EVO Shift 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all. I have successfully rooted my Shift and have applied the OC kernal. When I attempt to apply a sense based theme over my stock deodexed sense rom it gives me an error,
"amend scripting is no longer supported. ..please switch to edify to create working update zip packages...installation aborted"
I am currently using clockworkmod recovery version 3.0.1.3. I noticed on the theme description they advise to use CWM 2.5. I have searched and searched and am unable to find it. Am I suppose to just wait until newer themes come out that are supported by CWM 3.0?

Well currently the themes here have not been converted over to flash using cwm 3.0 I believe that Dread said he will look into updating his themes to flash using 3.0 but as of yet not happpened...

Only evervolv and honeycomb have the updated script. Yeah I'm converting them which is easy - updating all the threads and uploading the new themes is a pain (I use the internet from my phone) its not very fast lol

Yeah that's basically what I'm doing. The script for honeycomb just has a couple extra things that need to be deleted to work properly in the other themes (bootanimation installation).

New official recovery actually takes a good backup. It might do well with themes now too.
Sent via carrier pigeon.

There its done! All themes have been updated to support cwm 3.0 (all except riptide since it has like 7 versions). OPs should all be updated too to reflect the change.

(Crackflashers)(ROM) (wip) Compiled from cm7 source

I have been compiling the cm7 source and sharing. Gapps and rom boots and work. It is more basic gingerbread aosp then cm7. Cyanogen and teamdouche have been working to get this together and this is more kinda like a nightly
www.crackflashers.com
You will need to flash the new recovery.img to flash/get working gapps.
after flashing gapps, run fix permissions to get gapps to work.
This is cause of cm7 going to ext4 based system unlike older roms that are ext3
The new recovery does make it so you can not use older pre gingerbread roms so find a older recovery to fastboot back to anything like froyo or restore old backups

Deodexed Liberated Aria 2.2.2

Here is a deodexed version of Gene Poole's Liberated Aria 2.2.2 ROM. It has a2sd enabled but you will need to flash dark tremor apps2sd. Boot time will be SLOW because it is deodexed. It should install with just a cache and dalvik wipe if you are already on the 2.2.2 rom. Trackpad Wake works!! I used this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=995755
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17731386/hfr003ddxa2sdtp.zip
Wipe caches - flash Rom - flash dark tremor - flash kernel
All credit goes to Gene Poole for this awesome rom and dsixda for his awesome rom kitchen.
UOT Kitchen themes work. Use amend scripting.

Updated OP. ROM now supports dark tremor a2sd.
Removing the at&t in the status bar is next. I just need to know how to recompress an apk after modding it.... That's if, I have indeed, found the culprit.
Edit: I believe the culprit is HTC_transient_notification.xml in stk.apk if someone wants to take a crack at it. Or at least tell me how you edit .xml's in ubuntu...
You can open them with any text editor. It's just text.

They use some sort of binary encoding when packed into an apk. You need to use the apktool to un-compress the apk properly, but then you lose the signature and depending on what the file's role is in the overall scheme of things, it may not work properly with just any signature.
Thanks, jdwhite87, for tracking it down to that apk. I'll take a look at it.
This rom is great!
Just need to figure out how to enable the Trackpad Wake

Correct me if I'm wrong but, since this is a deodexed ROM is it now possible to delete or rename the "htclockscreen.apk" file in root explorer to then allow use for the default vanilla lock screen? like seen in a CM ROM.
Like seen in this thread here, I have tried doing like the original post says with no luck.

[ROM] 2011-08-04 - ROOTED "Official Update" - x99_GB_Sense_Stock_Rooted_2.76.651.4/5
This is *completely* based on NFX's release of 2.72.651.2
- modded kernel ramdisk for root
I flashed this ROM with *nothing* else loaded on my phone, and it booted up and is running just fine so far.
My usual routine:
- format system
- wipe data / factory reset
- install ROM
If you flash this over another ROM without wiping, you may encounter errors.
Examples:
- Opening the settings in the messaging app = force close. Fix this by wiping the data for the messaging app.
- Wallpaper picker not showing previews.
Download 2.76.651.4 ROM v1: http://bit.ly/iNX9qc md5sum: 793da0847bd2b452cc7887480abae029
Download patched OTA 2.76.651.5 patch: http://bit.ly/pQ1KpP DOES NOT REMOVE ROOT!
is this the one with the newest update? 2.76.651.4?
Yeah, I named it wrong... one second.
FIXED. lol ... that's what I get for rushing.
Thank you will test tonight

No custom kernel yet... at least not until HTC releases source code.
For this, I had to modify a file within the kernel so that we can have root.

[Hack] [EH06] [DEODEX]AIO MOD

This is an all in one mod similar to the one RandomKing did for EG22. This includes a framework.jar, services.jar and settings.apk. The features included are 8 locks, wifi tether, sound, overscroll, reboot and rotation lag fix mods.
Special Thanks to Thanks to Maddoggin for taking the time to update the 8 locks Mod which includes reboot and overscroll. Thanks to mkasick and randomking for the volume Mod. Thanks to Chris41G for the rotation lag fix Mod. And last but certainly not least, Thanks to Necrosan for the wifi tether Mod.

After some testing it looks like the new framework has cleared the issue I had with renaming it to Wireless Hotspot. So I am going to put up both versions to let you choose which one you want to use.
Flash this zip with clockwork. Make sure you have maddoggins mod installed first.
Don't forget that if your battery is missing after flashing to go to Settings|Lockscreen Settings|Statusbar Settings and check Hide Battery Icon then uncheck it.

All I can say is this. I used 1.26 on EG22, because the new one wasn't out, and the whole time I used EG22 the only problem I had was with the Browser. Maybe I didn't have problems or maybe I didn't notice any issues or maybe I didn't use it enough to get any issues. With that being said, I still want to work off of the latest version which I know at the very least fixes the browser. If the framework is messed up enough to hose the browser than who knows what else is going on.

[Theme]Touch of ICS for Stock 2.3.4

This is ONLY for the official stock 2.3.4 LG ROM that introduced the new March 2012 baseband!!
I repeat, DO NOT FLASH ON ANYTHING ELSE.
Ok so since my real first porting of a theme (which was a little of a disaster in my opinion...) I've gotten a lot better/smarter.
This port is probably going to be the final. There's honestly nothing wrong with it so far that I can tell.
I might change the drop down menu background to something else maybe. For some reason, even if you use a transparent image... it still isn't transparent for me.
I just kind of grabbed some random image for the background and used it... it was supposed to repeat itself and just kind of scaled... and doesn't look too bad in my opinion.
How to install:
Download the attachment to SD card
Boot into CWM
(Optional) Create a backup in case of boot loop
Flash the zip
Reboot device
There is no need to wipe cache or dalvik or any of that nonsense. I NEVER do, but you can if you're paranoid enough.
Known Issues:
None.
Notes:
I disabled the overscroll glow. I just personally do not like it and it tends to make the device lag when it appears.
I didn't do any .xml changes so no colors should be ugly on certain other windows/frames.
The font in my screenshots will NOT be applied to your phone; that is the font I use and it is not included in the theme.
SOLUTION IF YOUR PHONE BOOT LOOPS
If your phone bootloops it means you dirty flashed 2.3.4 onto your device which means you were on 2.3.3, then you upgraded to 2.3.4 via LG Update tool, and then tried to flash this theme.
So what you have to do (and SHOULD do anyway) is download the rooted 2.3.4 stock ROM (thanks to kwes) and do a fresh install of it (wipe data/factory reset and format /system) then this theme will work 100%.

I don't know what could have gone wrong. Nothing is wrong with my .zip. No one else is having problems nor getting any bootloops.
It's possible you got a bad download of the file. Try re-downloading it again and flashing.
Wonder who rated this thread 2 stars :/??
OP has been updated with 2 different batteries: the circular battery by request, and the CM7 battery with the number and little bar on the right side of it.
Hey man i've loved it, can you add the CRT on and off animation, please? I want it cus the stock one when you press the button to turn screen on shows the previous screen that I was before and then go to lock screen(very fast), know what i'm saying? That's annoying, thanks for the theme!!

Thank you and yeah I know what you mean.
I've stated before that I'm not a developer, nor am I a themer; I just simply port over stuff.
I would love to have the screen off animation, and quick toggles as seen in weapon and bionix, but I don't even know the beginning stuff. I'd have to do a lot, lot of reading and experimenting... which I may do one day but work keeps me pretty busy.
By the time I learn anything worthwhile I'm sure a developer would have already made a custom ROM out of this and did all that stuff .
Believe me, I want all that neat stuff too.
Yeeeeah, I've stopped using ics roms because of little things like that, I love when the rom works smooth and fast, it would be awesome if any developer did the crt on and off animation work here, I'm missing the toggles too

I'm running rooted stock and get bootlooped as well. Any way you could throw up an md5 on the op?
