Coming from Aria? - HTC Inspire 4G

Who all is a convert from the Aria? Initial thoughts?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

I just did today. I was worried about the size since I really liked how well the Aria fit in my pocket, but with the Inspire being contoured on the back, it really hasn't been a concern yet. I was running liberated aria FR005 (I think) on my Aria and the stock Inspire seems a bit smoother. My overall initial thought? I really like it.

HTC aria was a decent phone. However, I had problems typing on the keyboard since the screen was so small... Now, I have a 4.3 inch screen on my inspire... My god.... what a HUGE difference! I can finally type without any typo and I can also download a lot more apps since the screen is bigger and the phone is more powerful.
I'm glad I switched over. Aria is for little girls with tiny hands.

Switched on launch day and have not looked back... The Aria is a very midrange device, the Inspire is a significantly more powerful device. The size difference is considerable, but the Aria now feels miniature. Battery life is similar for me, and the speakers (despite others' complaints) are much louder than the Aria, which have me some problems. The only thing the Aria has over this phone is CM7, but that won't be for long ;-)

I have an Aria and would like to upgrade to the Inspire but do not know if I'm eligible for an early upgrade since I'm on a family plan and just got an upgrade when the Aria came out.
I wouldn't mind paying no-commitment price as I can still get some decent money for my Aria.
The limitations of the Aria are kind of annoying and I do love these HTC phones.

I sold my rooted aria on ebay for $225. It looks like the inspire is $399 on AT&T's website, so you'd still have ~$175 to come up with.

I'm thinking this is what I'm going to end up doing. I can swing the $400 to buy the phone outright and then recoup some cash by selling the Aria. Will be swinging by the AT&T store monday and see if I can pick one of these up. I am on a family plan and am not the primary line so hopefully that won't be a problem (my father is but he is several states away at the moment).

If your name isn't on the account you may have a little trouble. They will probably at least need the account holder to call in and verify a couple things.

I picked up the Inspire a couple of days ago and I'm very happy with it. I REALLY like the Aria. A lot of people say its underpowered but for what it is, it's an excellent phone, incredible really. I still feel a little guilty using the Inspire but it has been a very good experience. The battery life on the Inspire has been much better than I expected and that's an impressive feat coming from an energy efficient phone like the Aria. I was ready to evolve my Android experience to a more powerful device and the Inspire has proven to be everything I wanted out of that upgrade. I say go for the next step and pick up the Inspire. Just remember that the Aria was a starting point(at least for me) that confirmed my interest in the Android platform and that's saying a lot for a phone that doesn't get a lot of love. Never Forget!

I was going to stick it out and wait for the Atrix, but I just can't see myself getting a Moto device. I loved Motorola and used them up until my RAZR did a gainer off of a roof! Which was quite impressive. I am happy with this phone so far... can't wait until there is some CM7 love.
I also heard that Oxygen is a pretty sexy rom also.

Are you guys happy with the MT4G?

Are you guys happy with the mt4g or wishing you had got the g2?
Or for people that have switched from the g2 to the mt4g are you guys happy or regreting it?

I am extremely happy. There is not one moment that goes by that I regret buying it and would not change over to the G2.
I bought the MT4G on launch day, returned it for a G2, and the very next day went and got the exact same MT4G back... The hinge on that G2 should never have made it beyond quality control...
Mt4g ftw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:d

I had 2 different G2's and then I switched to the MT4G. The MT4G is a much better device if you don't need the keyboard which many people now don't as with newer input methods like swipe the touch screen is just as good if not better than the hard keyboard. The G2 hinges were pathetic. The MT4G with Front camera, more RAM and more options is just better. The build quality is also very good.
I love this phone. I had the G2 and returned it. Never used the qwerty on it and that hindge was loose on week two. My MT4G is an awsome phone. I came from an iphone unlocked jailbroken iphone for the past 3 years! Android takes the cake. Now trying to learn about roots, roms ect...Time to have some fun!

Upgraded from the MT3G, and I have to say that I absolutely LOVE this phone! No regrets whatsoever.
Had the G2 for three weeks before the MT4G came out. I have no regrets about exchanging it for the MT4G. My only qualm with the MT4G are the physical buttoms Still, the only thing that would have made me want to return the MT4G is if the Nexus S had been made by HTC. Since it's by Samsung, I'm loosing zero sleep over it (although I still have 5 days in my new buyers remorse).

Coming from a Nexus to this I love the P buttons cause on the nexus I would accidentally press the captive ones and came out annoying sometimes! But I'm with you with Samsung making the upcoming Nexus S! But all in all I like this phone, I'm rooted, still on a stock rom and does not skip a beat! I can just imagine how beastly this phone will be when the Devs work on our phones!
Yup, ive been through my share of iphones the past 3 years, and kept telling everybody that theres nothing better then an iphone. Then I got irritated with not having 3g speeds with it and gave this mt4g a try. And I now theres no looking back. I tell everybody with an unlocked iphone to get the mt4g. It blows all other iphones out the water
+1 for real buttons.... I see this as a feature over the g2.... I'm so tired of touch buttons on the n1.....
Push them *****es all the time in the car... I always find the one I'm after after pushing all the other 3...

Coming from a Vibrant, I truly believed that there was no life after SAMOLED, I can now say w/o a doubt that life just gets better, This phone has surpassed all of my expectations.
Wow, these responses are blowing me away. I purchased my myt4g last night and was kind of unsure because of the nexus s coming. I have to say as of right now I absolutely love my phone. I truely didnt think I would enjoy it this much.

I purchased the g2 first day it came out, returned it 3 days later because i hated everything about it.
Just got the MT4G and was skeptical about sense, but after a full 48 hours of use im in love.
the g2 cant even shake a stick at the 4G
The best way to describe my opinion on the MT4G is that this is the phone I was expecting when I purchased the Vibrant back in July. After reading all the hype about the Galaxy S series, I was expecting a true superphone that will exceed everyone's expectations of what a smartphone should be. Needless to say, that was not the case at all.
Although I like the look of capacitive buttons, I accidentally touched them on quite a few occasions while using the Vibrant, causing the phone to perform undesired actions. Going forward, I will try to opt for phones that have physical buttons (unless, of course, Desire HD was released in the U.S.).
It's already been 2 weeks since I bought the MT4G, and I've yet to find anything that I am not happy with. Sure, the speaker could be better, and the screen could be SAMOLED. However, neither shortcoming is a dealbreaker for me, and the phone certainly works the way it was intended to work right out of the box.
I'm EXTREMELY satisfied with my MT4G. So much so that I ordered another one for my significant other! Back on Nov. 4th, I was just about to buy a G2 to replace my old G1. I was in love with the performance of the G2. It had a physical keyboard, just like my G1, and was the next logical evolution of the platform, so I thought.
While the T-Mo rep was ringing me up at the cash register, he casually said "Yeah we're really busy tonight, trying to get ready for tomorrows launch of the MyTouch HD" (he referred to it as the HD from what I remember). He went on to tell me some features, and even showed me the phone and let me handle it for a few minutes. I was so impressed with the ergonomics and the feature set (a 1GHz gen 2 Snapdragon processor vs. 800MHz gen 2 in the G2) that I told him to stop ringing me up for the G2 because I wanted to wait for the MT4G.
I'm glad I waited. While I still like the G2, its durability is highly suspect. It wouldn't be so bad if the hinges were made out of steel or some other durable metal, but they appear to be plastic. That kinda scares me.
And now that I've become proficient at SWYPE, I can crank out paragraphs almost as fast as I can type on a real full-sized keyboard. I could never do that on the physical slide-out keyboard on my G1.
It's no wonder the MT4G is back-ordered everywhere.
Coming straight of a rooted G1, this phone is heaven on a stick!
It's just great - it's responsive, fast, has so many features and the battery life is so much better than the G1. Sense does take some time for me to get used to, but that wasn't a problem since I could always use Launcher Pro or ADW Launcher if I didn't like it.
The main thing is that the performance of the phone has succeeded my expectations.
Coming from an Evo, Droid Incredible, Not one but three N1's , Samsung Epic 4G, Xperia X10, Original MOTO Droid, Droid X, I am actually highly impressed, down to the point where I have actually found what I've always wanted in an Android...

Inspire or Atrix?

This is the big question for me. On the one hand I love HTC devices and the screen size (i am a long time HD2 user until I flashed it to death ). On the other hand, it seems like its a rehash of 1 year old technology, with that terrible battery and camera (im using a Captivate and the quality diffefence compared to any HTC device I have used is massive), and the Atrix looks incredible on paper (battery, dual core, peripherals, screen resolution etc). Trouble is, whenever I get a non HTC device, I spend days tryimg to get it to have the look and feel of an HTC device!

Im the same way. I have a captivated know and will be getting an Inspire. Im really not a fan of Motorola phones. I want either the Inspire or the Infuse. Leaning toward the Inspire in big way tho.

Yea, I'm going with HTC, they just seem better built and like you said, with my other Android phones I try to make my non HTC to look like htc, lol!

I love HTC devices too. Even with the older tech and a little bit less in the way of specs, I'd choose the Inspire any day. I'm not a fan of Motorola phones regardless which carrier they've been on. I just haven't had a good one dating all the way back past the razr and up to the first droid. Next, because of the bootloader stuff they did with the Droid X, I imagine they'll try to lock the Atrix down even if they say they're going to work with devs. I love my Aria, no problems at all and it's been a great phone. I kinda see the inspire as a big brother to the Aria which is why I'm going for it as soon as I can.
The Inspire does have its shortcoming but I like AT&T and I like HTC. I'm willing to sacrifice on a few features (battery, CPU, front camera) in order to get what I think is better quality and user experience of an HTC phone. I'm currently still on a Tilt 2 and I will be able to upgrade in May. If at MWC this month nothing better that would hit AT&T this year from HTC is shown then I'll just go with the Inspire.
I'm thinking since the Inspire is being introduced at a lower price than the Atrix then perhaps a purchase at full price for the Inspire with no contract might be worth it in order to save the upgrade credit for something later that might come out toward the end of the year.
I had both in my hand this week, including the Atrix laptop dock. Very nice.
But I think the Inspire seemed more...quality. New Sense interface, great camera controls and efx, 8mp camera with VERY bright dual LED flash. And half the price.
Atrix + Laptop bundle will be $500 on contract. Atrix alone $199
Inspire is $99 on contract.
I'm leaning Inspire
I've had the HTC Inspire 4G in my hands for three days now (be sure to check out some of the videos and blogs posts I've written up already http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=940312) and I can say that you will not be disappointed with the Inspire. The unibody aluminum case makes the phone feel solid. I played around with the Atrix at CES last month and was not particularly impressed with the handset's external hardware. Also, the higher resolution screen looked a bit off with the home screen UI and many applications.
I don't know why people keep referring to the Inspire and Thunderbolt as being phones with rehashed technology from last year. Yes, the second generation Snapdragon processor did come out last year, but the first phones to use them only started showing up in late fall. If that's your standard for calling something old, the first devices powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 surfaced right around the same time.
The processor in this phone performs nearly 50% better than the 1GHz processor found in the EVO and Nexus One (first generation Snapdragon processors).
The Inspire is a well rounded handset with a good camera, decent batter life, and solid benchmark numbers. No, it will not outperform the Atrix or any other phone with a Tegra 2 processor, but at least you can trust the HTC quality and know that it'll probably get an official Android update somewhere down the road.
I originally wanted the Inspire, then once I saw the specs--I thought about the Atrix as my next phone. But now, I think I'll want the Inspire again.
Honestly, I really like the phone. Specs-wise, next the the Atrix, well--old tech.
Next to the Captivate I have now--more of the same. But I'd pick the Inspire over my Captivate any day of the week.
I'm just waiting until it comes out so I can ring warranty and have them send me one to fiddle around with.
Cyanogen. Enough said. HTC inspire is quality work. Yes not the best internal spec. Atrix looks impressive on paper. But for those of us who live on xda atrix will not do it for us. Inspire has many devs already working on roms themes and kernels. Ands its hspa+ it will be a upgrade from my N1.

I think flash happy people with Captivates should and will lean to the Inspire. Seeing as how hard it has been for the Dev community to cook something up rather than spliced together samsung roms. HTC devices just seem so much easier to dev. I am afraid that if I go to Motorola I will have the same issues. I don't know if it is just more Devs on HTC devices or that they are just that much easier to crack. Seems like the other devices are just harder to get anything good on them.

I can attest to this. I have had the captivate since a couple weeks after launch and have been yearning for some cyanogenmod love as well as any ui other than touchwiz. It seems like the devs for the captivate have a really hard time doing anything besides splicing cappy leaks together and while I have run some ready quick and efficient roms, I am always checking the htc forums with envy. I am going to get the infuse pending a better htc device coming out at MWD.

The Inspire is definitely the headsup winner.
Honestly who is really going to use that FrontFacingCamera anyways if it even had it other than make some real time video pron, hahaha
The only question Im asking myself is if there are any 1400mAh or 1500mAh aftermarket batteries that I can swap out after buying it.
1230 mAh is low in comparison to other phones with similar specs
Inspire 4G FTW!
Inspire all the way Atrix is full of hype and no promise. Locked boot, dual cores wont be utilized fully and motoblur is crap
I'm debating between the two as well.
I think what is keeping me from choosing is:
A) continued support from HTC and AT&T, as well as dev support if I wanted it (most likely would, I jailbroke my iphone about two months after I got it)
B) a huge part of the Atrix IS it's docks. I was never interested in them in the first place, just it's specs. So I'd almost be buying half a product
C) build quality! My plastic iphone 3G is literally about to split in half, right where the white plastic and bezel meet. I'm tired of plastic phones.
the Atrix is looking like this: higher res, biometric lock, dual core, RAM, battery
Inspire: Build quality, support, camera (debatable, but still more Megs)
it's not old tech, take a look at the comparisons of the Inspire and the Evo 4G, it's clearly a new device in a similar casing
http://mobile.downloadatoz.com/comparision,htc-inspire-4g-vs-htc-evo-4g-black-sprint.html
I for one look forward to getting mine on (next) Monday. I love my captivate, but I love HTC more.
I have also been wondering if I should leave the captivate and jump to the Atrix or Inspire. I am always one for the latest and greatest so I was leaning towards the Atrix or holding out for another 2 core phone. After reading a lot and browsing these pages I just about want to go for the inspire. Man do I hate decisions!!
After having a Nexus One I'm sold on HTC hardware. I'm going to get the Inspire and love it...at least until HTC releases something better.
However, since I think it will be months before HTC releases another compelling phone on AT&T, I'll be alright with that. The minute you buy technology it's already outdated, and either you can get used to that idea or you can spend exorbitant amounts of money trying to keep up.
I'll get the Inspire for $99 and use the money I save on it (plus the money I get from flipping my Nexus One) to get a tablet this spring. Can't wait for the first HTC Honeycomb tablet!
If Sony Ericsson is saying the Arc is their top tier phone well then the Inspire 4G is really not all that outdated and irrelevant.
Sure its not a dual-core behemoth but from what the early reviewers have said is with the specs it will have when its released, the smartphone is fast and responsive.
Check out my other thread on the similarties to the Arc and other Snapdragon phones and will see that with overclocking, bootloader and rom support this can potentially turn into a dual core beast performace wise.
What can you buy nowadays for $99 anyways, not even a burnt out everyday iPhone or extremely outdated Blackberry.
At least with the Inspire you know right away that potentially all the hard work and Devlopment from the Desire HD thread can be carried over to us.
The Inspire 4G will stay active for a good while in my opinion, I can atest to HTC quality since I still own the phone that started it all the HTC Dream / G1.
This phone has been dropped on concrete, slammed againt walls, thrown around like a bad habit and is still going strong and even have a fast/ stable version of Froyo 2.2.1 with apps2sd enabled and running with zero issues. This phone was only offically updated til 1.6 Donut from HTC and T-Mobile yet the incredible xda community has kept it going and left all who own it satisfied.
That to me is a prime example of what HTC quality, xda support and those out there with the potential to make a good phone great in the Months and Years ahead.
Check out the Samsung and Sony forums those guys are truly regretting their purchases from barely a few months ago while I'm still content from a phone from 2008.
Proof positive that this purchase will be a smart one from whomever takes a chance on it when its released to the public.

Inspire for a NON geek.

My wife is due for a new phone and is moving to ATT with me, she wants a smart phone but not an iPhone because it's not in the budget right now. I love my inspire but I like to tinker with everything. Does anyone out there have a significant other, not geek type with an Inspire? Do they like it?
Her expertise with smartphones isn't great but she does ok to use my ipad and iPod touch. I'm considering the Inspire or a *gasp* Windows 7 phone.
Thoughts?
I would say an inspire is fine as long as she can live with the battery life. If not windows mobile.. My wife has a captivate, and refuses to let me root it and flash a custom rom. She likes my inspire a lot stock and rooted with core droid. Its an awesome little phone.
What I usually do to decide is just go to an ATT store where they have working models and just play around with a phone and decide if I like it or not.
That's our plan this week.

Why is used iPhone not an option? You'll still have to pay for data anyway and since she's comfortable with IOS seems like a no-brainer to me?
Because she doesn't want to spend that much. Inspire can be had for as little as 69 bucks.

Inspire can be had at Costco for free on a new or added line, and $20 for upgrades. So at the worst you can get a year's Costco membership ($50) and an Inspire for the same money.
That being said, you'll be buying a data package of at least $15 or $360 over 2 years or $600 for the 2GB plan. If you're paying that much for a data package, why cheap out up front so she can settle for something she doesn't want? Everyone here knows that stock has some serious issues, so your options are to root it and be your wife's phone IT support for ever, or get her an iPhone and let her visit the Apple store in the mall if she has any trouble. Domestic harmony is how I justify paying the Apple tax on my wife's iPhone and Mac habit, which smooths things over for my hackable gadget habit.
I would not be surprised if Captivates drop very quickly now with the Atrix and Inspire out on AT&T. I still enjoy playing with both of my Captivates as they are very forgiving and still have an awesome display.....

Well, not my significant other, but my mom just got one, after me talking it up, and she's been using an iTouch, so an iPhone would've been the natural choice, but she insists on having any new gadget she gets being brand new, so a used iPhone was not an option.
Given the price of the inspire on contract at Costco, compared to that of an iPhone, not to mention my recommendation of the inspire, the choice was easy.
It'll take her some time to 'convert', but with my help she'll be ok.
She likes the phone, she's just overwhelmed by the newness of Android. I keep telling her that since she's already familiar with the touch screen type of device, she's got more of a head start on learning the new phone than she realizes.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk Pro
the inspire can be as user friendly as you want it to be. modders and devs don't like sense because its bloated and doesn't let you control a lot of things...but it does (generally) provide for a pretty smooth user experience. i know my wife was pretty interested in the htc weather widget screen animations and live wallpapers and other things like that.
that being said, maybe something as small as an aria would be a good idea...less of a powerhouse, better battery life and whatnot.
My wife used an Aria for about 8 months, her very first smart phone, and she was very comfortable using it. She describes Android as intuitive and easy to use, and it gave her plenty of options to customize her usage. 60% phone calls, 20% text, 20% weather/maps/internet search & games. I got an Inspire on day 1, and she was jealous from that moment on. We just go an Inspire last week for her, and now she even has a Google account.
Gunny, you may be the developer in the house, but your wife may surprise you and start tinkering when you put the right phone in your hand!
Just returned from the store. 2 INSPIRES in the house now

[Q] Should I buy a TB out of contract?

I am really really sick of this Droid 2 that VZW replaced my Droid with. I'm sick of Moto services invading my phone and slowing it down. There's no true ASOP build. This phone sucks balls.
I was set on buying an Incredible 2 OoC b/c it was cheap at $440 and saving my upgrade till later, but where I'm moving to next week already has LTE towers.
Do I really want to wait 2 months using this laggy trash? And possibly end up getting a TB anyway because the other phones coming out suck.
Or do I want to get a TB and save my upgrade till later in the Q4 2011/Q1 2012 when NFC Ice Cream Sandwich phones come out.
Don't want a Charge, poor build material choices.
Don't want a Revolution. Bing...
Does it really matter? Not really... You just root and you can put whatever you want and however you want.
Motorola tends to lock their bootloaders and make it hard to do what you want.
Samsung stated that they'll never lock it that way(Not in those words, but given the sense that they will leave it open)
HTC has been locking down their devices, but not as tough as Motorola does.
So basically pick a device with the hardware you want, and make sure it's root and you can install custom roms/kernels.
The T-Bolt is a great phone, and it has excellent community support. I have absolutely no complaints about my phone (aside from the battery life).
That being said, the Galaxy S II that's coming out looks sexy as hell. It might be worth the wait to hold out for that. Honestly, it's totally up to you.
There was talk about tiered 4G plans, which is what made me opt for the early upgrade to the T-Bolt (hoping to be grandfathered in to unlimited 4G). I haven't heard much on that front, but it's still a possibility.
wait a few months
from everything i've ever read about samsung phones, their software support is absolutely horrible. slow updates, faulty gps etc. i've heard a ton of people complain about the issue, and it seems to be the case with all their phones... never had one, but that's the impression i get.
the thunderbolt is a decent phone, but all it really has over the droid x is 4g. the t-bolt screen might be a little better, but not much. in day to day use it's not faster, the battery isn't even close and the build quality of the DX is equal or better. if i were you i would pick up a DX on craigslist for $175 and save your upgrade for a few months. The dx has even more dev support than the T-bolt and it's the best phone I ever had.
bottom line is, if you really want 4g speeds right now, really really bad, then get the thunderbolt. if you can do without that for awhile i think you will be really happy with a DX, especially after using the Droid 2, and you'll spend less than half the money.
the above is just my .02.
Show me a HTC or Motorola phone with latest software on it
Not you fat Jesus
I bought mine off contract and am very happy I did it. Yes there are a few issues, but nothing a little root cant fix.
Though waiting a few months for a better phone won't hurt, the TB is a great choice.

I just have to say that this cracks me up every time I see you post it.
Once you get a taste of 4G, you will never want a phone that is 3G only. So if you are moving to 4G area and don't want to pay full retail, I suggest you get a used Tbolt from craigslist and use it until something comes along that you like better, then sell the Tbolt
i love my TB, i have it rooted with das bamf NTE 1.6.3 and its about the coolest thing since MP3s.. as with others, the battery life on this thing is fkin AWFUL!! i have the extended battery and i still dont feel like its enough, however i use my phone probably more than i should or more than others. either way the LTE network is retarded fast and i'd never want 3g.
First off I just want to say I owned a droid 2 and it wasn't that bad. I jumped to the thunderbolt just to lock in the 4g rate. The bigger screen is a nice plus but other than that is the same thing. I wasn't overly impressed as other owners of the droid x and 2 have stated is not that big of a jump.
Before I end let me just say other than software wise android phones are exactly where I want them. I don't need a dual core chip in my phone and 4g is. good enough for anything I would ever want to do with my phone. I'm sure most of you will disagree but that's just how I feel. Flame away!

I picked up a TB on craigslist for $350. The custom roms still seem a bit premature, however they should evolve over time. Nonetheless it's an amazing phone. If you have a desk job or spend a lot of time in your car, the battery life is not much of an issue. Just stay plugged in.
Got my TB off Craigslist for a fascinate trade plus 150$. I love it so far.. 4g is amazing..once you.have it you won't want to go back.
Roms are not bad. I'm waiting for a complete cm7 or sense 3.0 rom but other than that das bamf runs fantastic.
If you have the cash and want a great phone with a growing dev community, go for it.

Thank you for all the input.
It's funny the other 2 forums told me I'm a moron and this one says Buy a TB!!!
I use over 2GB of data a month so the 4G unlimited (Hopefully grandfathered for life) makes it very tempting since my upgrade isn't till mid July which is around the time the rumors of tiered data plans landing. I'm also not to optimistic about an actual new phone coming out then. Maybe the SGSII but I really hate the fact that it doesnt have a search button. It's a damn Google phone and I use the search button all the time, for GOOGLE, not Bing!
I didn't even think about craigslist. That might be a good option.
As for a cheap DX. No way. It basically is a D2 minus the keyboard. I like the keyboard, I can sacrifice it for a 4G newish phone but not for an X. and I hate the Blur invasion, and locked bootloader. My D2 has been running custom roms. They're just too laggy and buggy still. Fab, Kejar, and Rummy are awesome, but they all had DXs and the D2 ports were just not good. Most of it I blame on Blur still having to be in there. I've been running GB stock blur and custom and for the first time since my D1 ADW launcher gets kicked out of memory and has to reload when I hit home.... I hate it.
EBay is your friend. Lots of Tbolts available every day, including NIB models. Prices similar to Craigslist, depending where you are.

Honestly I never buy anything without having it in my hands first. Learned my lesson when eBay burned me not once but twice.

Vivid disappointed me, and inspire is still quite a capable device , I think I will hold onto to it..

I get bored with phones very easily but once i got my Inspire i wanted to keep it for more than a month or 2 (which was the shelf life for a phone to me for a long time) So i rooted it to keep me busy/interested, and when i get bored i dive deeper into the root to make it better. But im at a point now where i dont know enough to go much further, and the onlyfriends i have that are into phones like i am are through here. So its hard to actually be taught anything. So i really want a new phone but not sure which direction i should go, or if i should hold out till the new batch of phones is out. In short, why cant i be satisfied with a phone nfor more than a few months?
Nope i wanna stick around until a while. The inspire is a great device

I will stick with it because I am on a contract and the phone is quite capable. And new phones come daily so if you sell inspire for dual core phone then quad core will come soon

I've found the Inspire to be one of the best phones I've ever owned. I think I'd only put the G1 above it in terms of phones I loved owning. The Inspire has given me 0 problems, has tons of dev support and is still very fast/snappy to use.
Not tired of it at all. I do lust for the Galaxy Nexus or the Razr while laying in bed at night...but I feel bad about it in the morning.

Lol to this
Also, I do find myself getting bored with it easily. Definitely an amazing device, but damn that Galaxy Nexus is tempting. If only it had the 8MP camera!
I actually really like my Inspire still, It's still a very capable device. I am going to be due for an upgrade in the next few months and i am going to be holding on to this phone i think for a while. Till something really catches my eye, because i really want to get another HTC device. The galaxy nexus looks sweet but im not a fan of Samsung's use of so much plastic on their phones.
My inspire makes me pancakes for breakfast every morning. I'll probably keep it until I'm tired of pancakes or my pants don't fit anymore.

That's what's so great about Android and being rooted. Get bored, flash a new ROM. Voila, new phone
No way! I love my Inspire still, it's a great phone, everything is really smooth with it right now. I'll probably hang on to it for another 18 months till i have another upgrade.
I really like my Inspire. I can not find a reason to upgrade. Nothing else out does anything different. I need a new Experiance before I will upgrade again. (or my contract is up). I had a Windows phone and modded the hell out of it and then, I went Iphone and modded it to death, and then andriod. Modded to death. See my pattern, each was a new experience. I will need a reason to leave my phone before I will.
meh...
After having issues with the battery life, I'm ready to upgrade to something with a larger battery & better screen. I'm not really hating on the phone, just disappointed with it.
Next phone I buy will be at cost, since I picked it up for $100 with a new contract.
I'm not tired of it (took 2 months only) but maybe if a little disappointed, I was recently at a concert and record some songs but my disappointment came into play, pesimo sound seemed pfffff q was in a machine room, something my old iphone that never happened to me, but good either me every day I live concerts as he remains so until q together for my new iphone 4s.
I have to say I like it and can deal with the few minor probs like battery life until the edge is released or equal to it. Sense I buy all my phones at cost I am willing to wait and see the next Gen device and right now everything else is just too weak to justify upgrading yet
So far I'm lovin' it. While this IS my first smartphone, I'd have to say I'm impressed overall with the phone. One thing bugs me though. I don't take a lot of pictures, but when I do, I like to not have to set my whitebalance to fluorescent every time I want to take a low light picture with my flash... I kinda wish the coders had implemented where if the camera sees low light, and decides to use the flash, to just set the whitebalance to fluorescent. Ahh the little things.
Overall I like the build quality, for ME it's been a solid phone, and I love modding it. Endless entertainment!
i've had mine for a couple months and it's the best phone i've ever owned and im happy with it but honestly im bored. Too many sense rom's are the same and CM7 just dosen't interest me anymore and i've been using MIUI for the last couple weeks but i'm getting to the point where i can't really expand it that much more. I'm going to try to convince my dad (im only 14) to kick my brother off of our family plan and make him go to a gophone plan as he's 19 and dosen't use his phone much and then pay the ETF and switch to verizon, with christmas coming up i think he'll do it but i'll just have to wait
Tired of it? Heck no! This is my fifth Android device and I love it. To me nothing else out at the moment is compelling enough to switch. I love the actual build quality of the phone. Too many other phones just have too much plastic on them and they feel cheap. This phone is solid. Its plenty fast and well supported in the community. My contract is up in August of 2012 so if it doesn't get bricked before then, that is what I will be using. I look forward to see the offerings then.
I've had the inspire since launch day and it has lived up to the billing so far. There's really nothing you can't do with this phone. I live in Houston which has LTE but I'm working in Odessa right now so there's no need for me to jump into an LTE device just yet. They barely have hspa+ rolled out down here. I'll probably wait until next year for the new slate of devices, when att broadens their LTE footprints.
For now I'm enjoying my inspire

I love my inspire but like others am bored of the same old roms. Wanted the vivid but with the tegra 3 quad core already in the new transformer 2 tablet I think I might wait. And Samsung I believe has a phone called the flex that is supposed to come out q2 2012 with a flexible screen and body I think there are too many better phones in the near future to justify using my upgrade now and waiting two more years to get something better. Girl I work with just ordered the vivid so i will just look at it when she gets it and go from there
