do you know how to do a restore for the LG Ally with this system dump?
if so, how? i've been looking and googling for days and this file has been the most helpful in my search for my missing files, i just need to know how to restore the phone cuz i reaaaallllyyyy messed mine up with deleting important things.
Ally apps from dump
I'm on a nonrooted Captivate using Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine, and have also tried Droid Explorer, neither can install any of the apps from the dump, does anything need to be done to the apk files before they can be installed?

I'm sure the Ally dump isn't de-odex'ed? To get these to work on another Android phone you need the odex files as well (apk and odex) and than they can work. As of right now the dump can only work on that particular phone, in this case the Ally.
EDIT: I was looking forward to this too. I want the clock/weather apk
I know it's a bummer huh, can't find too many good alternatives to these official widgets and programs, a lot of 3rd party ones work OK but they just don't feel as clean.
OP, can you get the odex files plz? That's the only way we can get these to run on a non Ally phone.

there is an odex file for every apk file in the app folder of the dump, if that's what you're looking for. like the weather widget you and I were both hoping for there's the apk for it "clockweatherwidget.apk" then an odex "clockweatherwidget.odex" right next to it. Forgive me if I'm not being of much use I'm just now venturing away from windows mobile.

The .odex's are included. Could you elaborate?
I have only been able to get two Ally app's functional on other phones. I had to resign them, they are Socialite and Divx Registration. Both have been posted in other threads.
I think the clock/weather widget will only work with the LG launcher.

HTC_IME mod

I'm running rooted stocked 2.1...5 with this mod installed. I tried to put it in the system/app folder because there is some room in there, since I removed some apps, but it did not like it. It just kept foreclosing it.
Any idea how to put it in there or even replace the original HTC_IME?
could have something to do with it being made for the nexus one

i've made one from there, and installed it. I didn't push it to /system/app.
try doing that.
also make sure you are using the low res option.

First make sure you downloaded the "lo" version, since Hero is low-res. And unpack the ZIP. It's not flashable, it's just zipped for convenience.
And then you can just install HTC_IME_lo.apk from your file manager by clicking it. There's no need to manually push it into /system/app. (It's registered differently from the default HTC_IME, so it can be installed like any normal application.) If you removed Clicker.apk while you were removing junk from /system/app, you'll need to reinstall that as well.
If you really want to replace the original HTC_IME, just rename HTC_IME_lo.apk to HTC_IME.apk and push it to /system/app. I think that's what you were trying to do before.
Hope this helps!
Oh, sorry I guess I forgot to mention that it is running fine in the user folder after installing it. It's just that I wanted to put in the system/app folder to save some space. I'll try renaming it and replacing with the stocked file. BTW, I'm typing on it now and its way better than the stocked because of how much customization you can do.
I finally tied this and it's a no go. Still get FC messages. However, all seems fine when I install it as an app. I think it's because the HTC_IME.odex file which is tied to the original. Even after rebooting it didn't work.
Anyone know how to get that odex file from the new HTC_IME I'm trying to install in the system/app folder?

[BETA] Android Vanilla Lock Screen

I don't know about you but I'm not a huge fan of the touchwiz lock screen and apparently neither are other touchwiz variant owners. So I decided to compile a jar for the stock vanilla launcher as a replacement. I haven't tested it yet, but if anybody can successfully get it to push to /system/framework and report back to me that would be great.
There are two files attached one is the modified jar to push and the other is any update.zip to flash back the original if the modded doesn't work.
You must also be using a deodexed and zip aligned ROM.
I will test this when I make it home thanks!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
is it working working?
What is the likelyhood this could make a mess of the phone?
I can push it right now but I'm not sure I feel comfortable doing it not knowing what may happen.
I can't seem to get it to push. Do i need to change the file name at all? It says read-only file system and won't allow a push.

Couldn't make it more than 22min without having to try huh?
i extracted the jar from android policy.zip pushed it to /system/framework and my phone would not boot into the os, i had to restore my phone from a nandroid back i had, and yes i did have a deodexed and zipaligned rom on my phone.

[Q] Installing system apps from one phone to another.

I have a rooted LG Optimus G, from AT&T. So the E970, in other words. My girlfriend has a Verizon Galaxy Nexus. I love her messaging app, and the stock Mail app (the same one that I would have on my Nexus 7). Now, since my phone is 4.0.4, I went and found the 4.0.4 system dump for the Galaxy Nexus. Can someone give me detailed instructions on how to move the messaging and mail apps (and any others in general, really) over to my phone? I've come as far as downloading the system dump in a zip, and extracting the .apk and .odex files from the .zip file into my system/app folder. What do I do from here?

[Q] CM Messaging .apk? [SOLVED]

Does anyone have a standaole Cyanogenmod Messaging apk I can push to /system/app or install on another ROM? I looked in the latest nightly zip, and did not find an Mms.apk. I also flashed the ROM just to make sure it was there, and yes it was. I also looked inside the /system/app folder on my phone after it installed, and I did not see an Mms.apk. Where is it stored?
Found it!
It's located in system/priv-app. No idea when/why it moved there. Also, if you flash the Paranoid Android GAPPS package (first one with everything), it automatically removes the AOSP/CM Mms.apk included. Hope this helps! Going to write a small tutorial as to how to avoid this problem in the future.
