Im using a nexus s right now. I love tthe screen on this phone and how snappy it is but I'm also on at&t. Meaning edge only. I could really care less about android 2.2 or 2.3 the thing I look for is screen quality and size. Next would be battery life. I came from an iPhone 4 and keep reverting back because of the battery life and network speed. Would you guys recommended an inspire over the nexus s? Is there anyone that has used the nexus s and iPhone 4 that can give me an unbiased opinion?

Get it. this thing is snappy. Dont go by that crap about the processor being outdated. This thing flys. I have used my friends evo 4g, man this thing blows it away. I dont know if its the ram or the processor is tweaked up. having used a few android phones, I can say right out that this thing is snappy.
If you can live without a front facing camera I would say go for it.
I've used all the phones you mentioned and I actually own the inspire, iphone 4, and a captivate. The captivate is similar to the nexus s.
The screen size is great. It will be hard for me to move to anything less then 4.3in from now on. Clarity is also great and is on par with the iphone, but much better then the samsung AMOLED. Contrast is much better on the AMOLED, though. Blacks do not look..err.. as black like they do on an AMOLED screen, but color are definitely more accurate.
Battery life is decent considering the phone has a small battery. The iphone definitely takes the cake in this segment, but the inspire is much better then my captivate was.
Speeds are phenomenal. I'm seeing speeds close to 4000kbps and they are only going to increase as the months pass. The inspire definitely holds the edge over the other devices here.
In short, this phone rocks. It is definitely the best device you can purchase through at&t right now and with it being easy to root should be more popular then the motorola atrix. Get it! You won't be upset.
Battery life is NOT as good as an iphone4, dont get me wrong, it's close, but I do find myself having to throw it on the charger at work or charge on my 20 minute commute to get through a day. Thats actually my ONLY complaint about it. It's faster than an ip4, does more, feels better in the hand, build quality is just as good if not better, and due to the stupid design on the battery cover neither battery is removable. Just kidding, you can replace the battery on the inspire, but it is not the easiest thing in the world. Watched the ATT rep break 2 trying to sell me one.
I'd say go for the Inspire, however, I will tell you that an At&t band Nexus S just past through the FCC. There is no release date yet but you'll have that option soon.

its not a nexus s its a galaxy S 2 and it will have dual core processor and a 4.3" screen. if your not in a hurry to jump on a phone then I would maybe see what that phone is like when released. If you are biting at the chomps to get a new phone then this phone is awesome.

I agree completely.. I'm probably going to pick the Inspire 4G up no matter what, but the Galaxy S II, specs-wise is intriguing. There are 2 glaring issues with the GSII though

The OS won't even support dual core until at least April and youre looking at even longer for developers to take advantage. So real world improvements with the dual core are several months out AT LEAST, and even then its almost exclusively going to be games. Sending TXT, email, phone, browsing, heck even watching video, a Snapdragon/GPU combo is more than enough. So its like cruising your Corvette in a school zone for 6 months

Samsung is a joke in my opinion. They still have yet to release 2.2 for all their galaxy devices and keep coming out with the same galaxy devices, granted a couple extra inches added to the screen and newer versions(2.3) of touchwiz. Just my opinion again but wtf were they thinking releasing a vibrant on tmobile with a front facing camera and hspa???? Hello most vibrant owners have already made the mode themselves. If you use gps then HTC will murder Samsung in that respect. I feel like the Nexus S was a poor choice to be the next Nexus device. It's too similar to the Galaxy S devices that have been out for quite a while. I came from the iP4 and also have a Captivate. The Inspire is fast. Really fast. I haven't noticed any lag and that's one of my biggest things. Using the Captivate is torture and I have it rooted and running Cognition.
This or the Atrix are the only really solid choices on AT&T for the next few months. The Infuse will be typical Samsung. Screen will be pretty and it will be the last of the three phones mentioned to get Gingerbread or any other updates.
The Ip4 has the best battery life of any smartphone with a 1ghz cpu IMO. I have used every highend android phone that has come out, including recently the Desire Z, Nexus S, and now the Inspire. I will skip out on the ATT 3G version of the Nexus S because at $560 with tax, it just isn't worth it espeically with other "better" phones coming out that will be the same price in the up coming months. It a good chance that the SGS 2 will be about $500 to $600 espeically with the Atrix at $500

True but the iphone is not clocked at 1ghz. it is the same cpu as ipad but clocled slower from what I have read.
I know this thread is old but I thought this information might be helpful for people who are stuck buying older phones.
I have both the Nexus S i9020A and Inspire 4G at the moment and I have made the following observations.
The Inspire HSPA connection (3mbps) is far better than the Nexus S (1mbps).
SMS fail to go through on the Nexus frequently.
Both phones are running 4.2.2 ROMs. The Inspire is far more responsive probably due to it's memory advantage over the Nexus.
The Inspire screen is larger and easier to type on and read. The colors are also more subtle and easy on the eyes.
The Nexus S screen has deeper colors but the default color profile makes the whites look yellow. Also, the pentile matrix is obvious and hard to look at.
Battery life is much better on the Inspire with 2 days of standby with WIFI, GPS, and HSPA/3G. Nexus S can only go about 12 hours with the same configuration.
The Nexus S is lighter but feels a bit more fragile.
The Nexus S is picky about which USB cables it will work with.
The Inspire camera can take finer quality pictures than the Nexus S camera.
The Nexus S is stuck with 16GB of storage while the Inspire is expanded to 32GB.
FWIW I'm on Straight Talk AT&T SIM
I own both. neither are on a mobile network, NS used to be, call quality was great. However, I literally got the Infuse about 30 minutes ago so I'm doing what I can with it to see how it is. It's pissin me off I can't get system updates bc of no SIM. I think I'm gonna work on something to put my Bionic SIM in it. I'll let you know a fair comparison of the two. so far, both, look awesome, feel awesome, both are snappy. NS4G has TONS of support, I'm about to see what that's like here for the Infuse, thats what I was coming to do when I stumbled across this. I'll post updates.
UPDATE: Already, when playing various games, I notice that the touch response on the Inspire is not nearly as sensitive as the Nexus, that's one reason I love my Nexus, is the intense screen sensitivity and of course, the screen in general. the AMOLED is amazing.

All devices have positive and negative points, but it's up to you to weigh them and decide what works best for you.
If you've been browsing for two weeks, then you should know the differences in the screen types and what to look for as well as what to either accept or avoid. Battery life varies depending on use and settings applied, especially for the modders and tweakers that exist in these forums.
Since you are in the Glacier section, I doubt there will be anyone who recommends that you get a Nexus S. In fact, if you read the Nexus S forum, there will probably be the same type of complaints that you find here as well as every other device section. No device is perfect, but to many of us the MT4G is the best of what is currently available on the market.
You will end up in this same predicament no matter which phone you get in the months ahead when yet new phones are released, so choose what ends up making you the happiest for now.

Honestly I think it's almost a toss up between the NS or MT4G. I have the MT4G and I am absolutely in love with it. Build quality is awesome and has everything you could want. Even camera quality was better than expected. And now that there's more devlopers jumping on this phone then the sky is the limit for this.
BUT, I am very intruged with the Nexus S. I love the SuperAmoled screen on it and I know everyone bags on Samsung phones being made out of plastic, that's what I love about it. Plastic phone = really lightweight. I don't care if it's plastic or metal like the MT4G because I put a case on any phone I get anyways. The MT4G with my little plastic case can be a tad bit heavier than the NS so that's totally up to you if you want a lighter phone or a heavier feel. Right now there is no 720p HD video capture on the NS which to me is mind boggling. I'm sure hackers will find a way around that though. One thing also is that it has no dedicated camera button on the side like the MT4G. For me I love to have a dedicated camera button. Also there's no expandable micro SD card slot in the NS, so take that into consideration as well.
So overall I would give the MT4G the edge, especially that it's 4G capable unlike the Nexus S and also has an optical track pad and most importantly has about 250 more mb's of RAM than the Nexus S. But honestly, you can't go wrong with either. Just play with each of them for like 10 minutes and I'm sure you can make your decision after then.

Average hardware (build quality and feel) with HORRIBLE software support. Now, with the Nexus S being a Google experience phone it takes the Samsung software support out of the equation, but it's still not a leap forward by any means (read the reviews).
I will miss the SuperAmoled display, but nothing else.

Thanks dude, i tried both of them the feeling is so different, i feel mytouch is so hard device specially made by HTC, my wife had a vibrant and it was soooo slow and i couldn't do nothing to make it fast specially she don't like root or stuff like that so i sold it for her and get her a G2, my feeling go to mytouch i can't go to plastic phone after my nexus i always say samsung just screen, so i feel i will go with mytouch

Get the MT4, the 2nd gen snapdragon makes web scrolling so smooth that once the phone oced to 1.4 you almost feel like iOS.
The cpu in the vibrant or ns on the other hand is a piece of ****, it'll have the best gpu but that cpu makes web scrolling feel like crap. Choppy at best and slideshow in most cases.
Look at the video after 5:00 mark i think, is a joke and i don't have the patience to wait for the development to pick up because AT THIS POINT IN TIME, anything coming out will be better than the NS so in summary if you have almost $600 to burn then yeah go ahead if you value your money then get the MT for cheap and upgrade later on to a better phone.
If you don't mind the branding, MT4 is better than nexus one in many ways.
1. more storage for applications (the most important)
2. wifi calling (it's useless if you don't use T-Mobile)
3. a bit larger screen, but you may encounter quality issue
4. physical buttons (it's also user's preference)
5. 720p video recording
6. secondary cam
You want nexus one if:
1. you have grandfathered internet (t-zones, tmoweb, and total internet)
2. you want minimal branding
3. AMOLED screen
4. fastest possible software update

I loove the samoled, but won't give up on 4G for that.

I had the Vibrant and I have to say the hardware is awesome. But damn Samsung ruined it with their software. IMHO the MT4G is one of the best if not the best phone on the market right now. It has so much going for it; 4G, FFC, almost double the OC'd speed and CM support.
I am going with mt4g, I have a feeling this phone is awesome, thanks guys for all this advices

Had the MT4G for 3 days now and im really impressed.Ive been a winmo user all this time and had the chance to use android on my HD2.i was blown away on how android runs.that made me buy a Nexus One,but the ram was small for me to install apps so had to trade it luckily someone wanted my N1 for his Vibrant.we traded straight up and after a couple of days got tired of the Vibrant.Samsung doesnt really get a lot of support compare to HTC.sold the Vibrant and got the MT4G on an upgrade.

I know it has a better camera and a larger screen, but reviews say that the screen PPI is less than the Captivate and the processor isn't dual core. Just 200mhz faster. So I'm at a crossroads... I personally think it is a great device. i can say one of the best i have own. People make such a big fuzz about screens i honestly done get it. it doenst have one of those cheap phone screens, so im set. i can read my text, videos look good. so im good. its a phone not a computer.
its good phone, it works and functions as it should. so im content. this is my first samsung phone. and im happy. its a great little big device
My first android and im in love. I would recommend the infuse. Unless if ur in the battle between the infuse and sgsII. I still love my infuse though.

I'd say totally worth it, had a captivate running gingerbread and loved it but this blows it away, far better screen, camera(also front facing), gps rocks, love downloading movies from pirate bay straight from my phone and watching them on the big screen with an hdmi. It's really fast, great roms so far and it'll get gb roms really soon... I bought mine for 200 and right now it's only 50 at target! The only downside is the sgs2 will be released next month... Either way both are huge upgrades from the already awesome captivate!

I have the inspire and the infuse, and i really like the infuse better. Its a very snappy phone. The battery life is way better on the infuse, its lighter and the screen is better than the inspire. Now with that said, compared to the Craptivate which was my first android phone the infuse is 100 times better. I have a feeling when we get gingerbread its going to be a great device.

I don't think it's worth it, the specs aren't all that different. (400mhz bump in clock speed, slightly better camera, slightly better screen). I'd wait till August for the S2 at the very least.
I mean, I do love my Infuse.. But let's be realistic.

It all depends, if the main thing you do with the phone is talk and play a couple songs then its not worth it.
But if you do a lot of other stuff with the phone and have an extra $200 bucks to shell out like I did, you can buy a new or near new one on eBay for under $450 and you can sell your captivate for at least $225 if its in good shape and complete. So its not as if you were to shell out $450.
I sold my Captivate for $250 on eBay in less than 2 days about 3 weeks ago.
There is a big difference between Captivate and Infuse.
Since I take a lot of pictures the main thing which comes to mind is the fact that the Infuse has a LED flash, the flash is nothing like a professional strobe BUT without the LED flash, as I am certain you know by now that you can forget about taking decent pictures indoors or outdoors at night.
With the LED flash I get very decent pictures anywhere and anytime as long as the subject(s) is not much further than 7 feet or so from where I stand.
Plus the Infuse also has a front facing camera which is great for video chat using wifi and or 3G. Not to forget that the camera is much better being its 8Megapixels.
And yes the Infuse is not double the speed of the Captivate, but the 20% increase which it does have is nothing to sneeze at either. It is noticably faster. The speed difference is most noticable when playing action games and when you surf the web.
Perhaps 4G is in your future? if it is, the Infuse has that too.
Plus you can record and watch 720p videos then connect the phone to big screen tv using the mini hdmi adaptor which comes with the phone.
All in all its well worth the couple hundred bucks difference.
If you do plan to buy one, I would suggest you do it as soon as you can because the longer you wait the less money you will be able to sell the Captivate for on eBay or anywhere else.
I wanted to write about the big 4.5 inch SCREEN last, that in my mind is such a huge difference that if everything else was the same on both phones and the only difference was the screen size I would have still purchased the Infuse..
A half inch does not sound like much at all, but when you consider something so small to start with as a 4 inch screen and then you add a half inch to that, it makes the Infuse screen approx 20% larger.
Not only is the screen larger, but it uses a much newer Super Amoled Plus screen technology which really rivals the iPhone screen as far as resolution goes, its way better than the Captivate. Infuse is much better on the eyes for people who spend a lot of time using all the features of the phone.
Well thats about it........... That's my review and comparison between Captivate and the Infuse phones.

I also upgraded from the Cappy, And I'm completely lovin' the Infuse. Even tho the SGSII is releasing, I'm probably gonna stick to this bad boy. (Maybe). But still Cappy or Infuse both are great phones, Infuse just knocks the captivate out with more upgraded features. Its like BumbleBee in transformers, The old Camaro, the to the new camaro.

BestBuy definately matches. Just bought one a few hours ago. Had them price check on the web and even told them Target wasnt getting them until tomorrow. All depends on the rep. Manager signed off on the 50 Target price match no problem.

I have had or used several phones lately:
BlackBerry (Sets the Standard, but I don't see BB keeping up with the trend)
HTC Tilt 2 (The best speakers),
Moto Razor (Still going strong after 5 years) Wife loves it
Samsung Blackjack 3 (wore the paint off the keyboard)
Moto Atrix (Fast phone and very nice)
HTC Inspire (just keeps getting better)
Infuse (The best screen out there)
My favorite of all is the Infuse, except it doesn't make Chai Latte' with a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg.
There are hundreds of phones out there to choose from for hundreds of different needs, likes and dislikes.
There are a lot of critics over cell phones, but any of the top brands and top models are going to be just right for someone. Manufactures are cranking out new models faster than the first recharge. The Infuse I have is an engineering marvel. You just can't beat Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Palm, BB, LG, Nokia, Apple, etc.
I still have an old Qualcomm from around 1995. I keep it as a reminder of how far phones have come in just a few years.
The Infuse is a top-of-the-line SmartPhone. The only complaint I have about it is: No External LED notification lights.
The hottest phone I'm hearing about and reading about is the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G

nothing wrong with the ol cappy, nor the infuse. hell verizon customers need to make a choice, tegra2 or lte. all the lte phones have single core 1ghz processors. all the dual core phones are 3g. they had to either drop or delay the bionic due to heat issues. instead they released a 3g droid x2 with the tegra chipset.
id rather have a nice thin samsung than all that stuff they have on verizon, and i can do without the sgs2 for now. ill get next years varient though im sure. i cant keep a phone for 2 years anymore. i have an obsession.

At least I know I'm not alone anymore
For some reason I always feel the need to upgrade my phone every 6mo or so. Right now have the iPhone so it makes it easier to stay with 1 phone for a full year. Android moves so quick that I'm always trying to find that perfect phone that does everything imaginable for me.
I sell mobile phones for a living and every time I unbox an Infuse and fire it up I'm blown away. I prefer Samsung phones, had the Vibrant and Nexus S. Currently I have a G2x and I couldn't be more disappointed. I'm so close to switching over to the Infuse....

The Infuse is my first Android. I switched over from an iPhone 3G. And oh my goodness what an upgrade it was. I can never go back to an iPhone with it's baby-sized screen. The Infuse is one of my best purchases ever and I have not looked back since. I thought I could never live without my iPhone. Then came my Infuse and 2 days later, I sold my iPhone with no regrets at all. Go with the Infuse. It is amazing. And Netflix just released for it, making it even sweeter.
I have the motorola Atrix and enjoy the phone but before that I had the 5" dell streak. I have enjoyed my atrix as it has some nice custom ROMs. However it is upgrade time and the tech in me wants to upgrade / change. The infuse is free and has a 2.5 inch screen and a super camera which is important to me. However a single core processor? Really. But then it has great sdcard storage. Battery life is supposed to be great and I would use custom Rom if it made a difference
HTC Titan. Again single core 1.5 processor 512mb RAM. But supposedly mango doesn't need the processing power that android does. Plus it's 199.00. Ouch. However a big 4.7 inch screen and a 8 mp camera. 16gb non expandable RAM.
SG2. Sweet. But 4.3 inch screen. 199.00. Dual core 1.5 processor. Very nice phone.
I guess I'm looking for input. I like my atrix but want good camera and bigger screen but like to play games. However a solid battery would be nice. I want it all. Lol

there are two galaxy s 2 models for att. the attain model with a 4.3" screen and a dual core 1.2ghz. and the skyrocket with a 4.5" screen, dual core 1.5ghz, and lte. keep in mind the samsung phones have very pretty samoled screens. and all the phones you listed are wvga and the atrix had a qhd display (though higher resolution it did have a yucky pentile display).
ive been eyeing that lg nitro with its 720p display and lte. and though it wins out on specs i just dont like lg for some reason. so maybe ill wait for something like the lg but better.
Thanks. I knew about the skyrockets but they are 250.00. Paying that with a two year contract seems foolish too me anyway. After more reading and YouTube videos I think I am at the SGS2 or waiting a month and seeing what prices do. It's funny this summer I was pining away for the infuse but had no upgrade.

3 I have an sgs2...my infuse is faster and has a better ui ....if u stay on the web or game all the time then u can take advantage of the second core....
Until they develop apps that take advantage of the dual core I personally don't see the point at this time.

Wow, very interesting. I've read and read many forums and YouTube videos. I am assuming that is where ICS may come in, taking fuller advantage of the hardware.
Here's what I do with my phone.
I'm a teacher. Other than websites and taking pictures and posting them to fb then I watch videos and texting music then light gaming. I have the Asus transformer prime for my gaming and more intense things. But I'd say my biggest goals are
Battery life
Good camera and video
Bigger nice display
Storage
Facebook integration ( which most everything has)
I'm a long time Infuse owner (since june 2011) and I feel that the Infuse has everything you could really want in a phone right now. Granted development for it has had a slump in activity. But if your not into flashing roms all the time then all your good. The screen is just absolutely gorgeous and unmatchable as far as colors go. The blacks are actually pitch black! But aside from that its just great all around. For the things you pointed out, the sgs2 would seem like too much phone for the job. And you just can't beat the cost savings for what your getting with the infuse. I paid 170 for mine and it was all worth it. If you keep it stock you could also use it as an entertainment PC for your living room through HDMI too. Which is awesome.
Just to recap, the phone is fast enough to do everything you need. It also has a camera good enough to replace my point and shoot canon. And the screen size hits that sweet spot of not being too big while still having a really decent resolution and color reproduction. For me its a no-brainer. But if ics is looking interesting to you I would walk into a Verizon store and ask to play with a new nexus. And see if the difference is worth the price. If it is. Then I would keep what you got and just wait for the Galaxy Note to come stateside. 5" 720p samoled screen is all I have to say.

I think you Need an infuse then. Dman has some good roms for it. Just switched to catyrom and the phone runs great and for free what more can you want until the note comes state side like I'm waiting for. Being a previous streak owner.

the gs2 has a exynos processor it may only be 1.2ghz but it absolutely rocks. the skyrocket has a qualcomm chip. not too shabby. the attic has a tegra chip. meh. actually the infuse can play better videos than the atrix and thought the benchmarks may look close in 3d I think the renderings are better on the hummingbird which may be why Motorola switched to the omap4 with the power vr540 gpu from imagination technologies which is the same gpu the hummingbird runs. but I think the exynos and dualcore snapdragon are both better.
I'm pretty interested in meego powered phones myself but haven't had a chance to use one. maybe some day...
if it were me I'd either get the free phone or a gs2 the skyrocket if you get lte service, I don't know enough about the HTC to comment on it. the infuse is at a disadvantage though because it is always late on updates and will probably never see ics officially.
Both sgs2 models are more expensive online. The skyrocket in store is 149.99 with contract. I believe the other one is 99.99 with. Though the Infuse is just as good and if you don't live in an LTE area, like most of us then its not worth it. Except of course that the sgs2 (both models) is getting ICS officially. The Infuse isn't metal - it's metallic-finish plastic. Same for the SGS2.
However, people falsely always assume that plastic = cheap - it's not, if properly done, and Samsung has chosen their plastic types VERY well in the Infuse and GS2. As an example of plastics that do better than metal:
Airbus A380
Boeing 787
F-22 Raptor
(Admittedly, most of the above are fiber reinforced composites - but still, it's a variant of plastic)
Anything made using Delrin
Don't get the Skyrocket - it has everything wrong with it that drives developers away from the Infuse and more. People falsely assume that developers go for specs, but we don't - we go for phones that don't fight us. That's why the Captivate still has a robust development community and the Infuse's never really took off, with only a small handful of developers, many of whom got frustrated and said "**** it" and left. That's why the I777 will always have a more robust developer community than the Skyrocket - We only need half the developers to achieve twice the work because the I777 community can leverage the I9100 community, while the Skyrocket community has nothing to leverage. (Well, the T989 community, but that's not exactly very useful.)
I'd get the Skyrocket ($149.99) if it plays my TV shows in MKV format without having to re-encode. Otherwise I'd get the SGS2 ($199.99).
From the benchmarks I've seen it appears the SGS2 is a tad bit faster but if you're going to be tied to a two year contract and AT&T is SLOWLY rolling out LTE it seems like a no brainer to get the LTE capable phone.
Forgot to mention the Skyrocket has a larger screen and battery.

actually all the modern Samsung phones may have a plastic outer shell but the screen is bonded to a metal frame that the main board is mounted to. on the infuse it looks quite robust. it may be confused with plastic having a very dull grey look and a black coating where the battery sits but I've scratched it doing a screen replacement and I assure you there is a good chunk of metal in the infuses construction. it is very light weight though which is why it never occurred to people that there is metal in there. maybe it's a porous aluminum casting, maybe its magnesium which is about half the weight of aluminum. I didn't think to spark test it before I put it together. but I agree Samsung plastics for the outer shell are also top notch. not scratch or dent resistant but very fracture resistant. even the slip cover on the i9000, vibrant and fascinate though it has a cheap appearance is extremely scratch resistant and resilient. Samsung=cheap looks but rugged construction.
I'd avoid the HTC Titan (price, battery life) and Skyrocket (price, CPU, screen tuning issues). Unless you are invested in having a top-notch DAC for listening to music on your phone and have browsed the Infuse forums enough to know what to expect in terms of issues and ROM's, I'd recommend sticking with the regular SGS2.

Exactly what Im doing!! I wont have an upgrade for a while but I will be getting a nice refund from fafsa next feb/march, so Im hoping the note will be here by then.
If you want to get a feel for how it is in the hand and screen and so forth--Head to Best Buy and they usually have a working new Samsung music player on display. I believe it shares all the same specs as the Note except it has no stylus, and no phone features. Same screen size and general form factor though. You could see how it feels in hand, up to your ear etc.
I'm looking for a phone with a really good camera, pretty fast all around(smooth), and get pretty decent battery life. I wouldn't mind getting a spare battery. But days I work I'm away from a charger for 14 hours, so I need it to last more than 10 hours. And days I work I'm not constantly on it, just my 4 10 minute breaks and 30 minute lunch. I've been reading on the Galaxy s3 and it seems to be the best phone coming out right now to verizon. The rezound is also really good and takes pretty good pics. I have a 6 month old son, and I always have my phone and not a camera, so its easier to take videos and pics of him with my phone. That's why I'd like a decent camera. What would ya'll recommend? thanks.
I do agree that the S3 is one of the best devices coming out. currently i am using the samsung infuse on att, and want to upgrade to the gs3 one i am able to. I personally would get the s3 given your two choices. the s3 will be a flagship device and will be supported longer. the s3 also has microSD card expansion so you can hold more videos and photos of your baby
have you considered the droid razr maxx? it has a 3300 mAh battery{non removable unfortunately}, so battey life will be excellent and it has an 8 mp camera. its also rated number 1 on consumer reports for verizon smartphones. im not on verizon but i stay up to date on the top phones. it all depends on which manufacturer you go with.

Rezound Great Camera
I have the Rezound and I can tell you that it takes the best pictures of any phone i have seen. My brother has the Razr, and my friend the Nexus, and both are beyond impressed with the quality images i get with my phone. I am in the market for a phone for my wife, and the camera is the one thing that might keep me away from the GS3. I understand it has the same camera as the S2, and if that's the case then it will be another Rezound for my wife without hesitation. I don't have a single complaint about the Rezound. Batteries could always be better, but with the leaked ICS my battery life has near doubled. As long as you don't keep screen at full brightness and stream music all day, the battery in the Rezound will last you fine. It's damn near perfect.

Obviously it isn't unquestionably, or there wouldn't be a forum. I would like to hear why you think it is such a great phone. What are it's real advantages here in the US.
I like the larger battery in the S3, but with all the issues regarding the Samsung radios (Galaxy Nexus) it makes me hesitate. Also Samsung has not been known for their cameras. Add to that the fact that they used an old-school pentile screen and have a big strange hardware button, it's just doesn't scream greatness.
I'm trying to want the S3, but i keep talking myself out of it. And if they drop the price on the Rezound back to $50 or even $100, why would you pay $200 more for what is basically the same specs?

With the Rezound i know it is a great phone. It is tried and tested. It already has a 1.5 dual core processor. Its HD screen is amazing. It has the best pixel density of any phone that I am aware of currently in production. Stupid GS3 went with a pentile matrix, a step back from the nexus. It has terrific reception, it destroys the Razr and Nexus on road trips. I almost never lost a signal from SC to PA through the mountains. The camera on the Rezound is one of the best i have seen in a phone. Again it takes way better pics than the Razr or Nexus. I am also a big fan of HTC's Sense. They have the best widgets. I have no experience with touchwiz, but i know i don't like Blur. But any launcher can fix that. The Rezound has a nice quality build, and won't slip out of hand. Not slick plastic like the S3.
Lastly the Rezound fits comfortably in the hand. It could loose a little weight around the middle, but it can be easily operated with one hand. I prefer a little girth because I am rather harsh on a phone, and the thinness of the Razr worries me. My friend with the Nexus has a son who just sat on his Razr in his back pocket and crushed it. If i think of any other highlights i will add later.

I understand that it is the same camera that was on the S2. Just has newer software, which can be downloaded via ROM I imagine. The Rezound also has dual LED flash.
Also the GS3 front camera takes a step down from its predecessor. 1.2 vs 2.0
Have you read somewhere that the camera in the S3 is awesome, or are you just assuming.

Same specs? no....
Snapdragon S4 Krait with Adreno 225 GPU >>>>>>>>>> S3 with Adreno 220 GPU which currently struggles to push a screen with that resolution consistantly smooth
I much rather have a Super Amoled HD than a SLD that Rezound has (poor contrast imo and viewing angles), if it was SLCD2 like One X id be a different story
sense 4 > touchwiz 5 > sense 3.6 (rezound)
GS3 will have 2GB RAM and will surely get Jellybean which i highly doubt Rezound will get anything beyond ICS.

I did say basically the same specs, which means not exactly.
I have seen no problem from my S3 processor pushing my screen smoothly. Games like Shadowgun, and Dead Space play without any hiccups. Aside from a "smoother screen," what else does the better processor bring? Are they games or apps that will benifit?
I am sure the S4 is better than the S3, but both are pushing 1.5 ghz, so it sounds like a slight improvement. And with that improvement in processor, they skipped on the SAMOLED+ that was present on the Nexus. So a better processor with a weaker screen. It's a trade off to be sure.
I do wish the screen on the Rezound was brighter in the sun, but that seems like a problem for most phones. Even Samoled, though they say it is better. I still had a hard time with the Nexus in the sun.
The only real substantial advantage i see is the 2G Ram. I don't know what i need that much RAM for, but i'm sure i could find something to do with it.
I would like to see JellyBean on my phone, but I will likely root and ROM after the year warranty runs out, so i don't see that as being much of a deciding factor. It will release with ICS, which i already have.
I am only playing Devils Advocate, because like i said, I do want to want this phone. Thanks for all the input.

That does sound like a fine camera. I am at least pretty sure that I will not be taking a step back from my current camera.
Now lets just hope that they figured out the issues with the radios on the Nexus, and this phone wont have a repeat of the same problems.

That does sound like a fine camera. I am at least pretty sure that I will not be taking a step back from my current camera.
Now lets just hope that they figured out the issues with the radios on the Nexus, and this phone wont have a repeat of the same problems.

I don't mind it,seems well built. The pentile screen is just people flaw hunting. 306 ppi HD I doubt you'll see any pixels.Do you walk around with a microscope?

I am sure the S4 is better than the S3, but both are pushing 1.5 ghz, so it sounds like a slight improvement. And with that improvement in processor, they skipped on the SAMOLED+ that was present on the Nexus. So a better processor with a weaker screen. It's a trade off to be sure.
I do wish the screen on the Rezound was brighter in the sun, but that seems like a problem for most phones. Even Samoled, though they say it is better. I still had a hard time with the Nexus in the sun.
The only real substantial advantage i see is the 2G Ram. I don't know what i need that much RAM for, but i'm sure i could find something to do with it.
I would like to see JellyBean on my phone, but I will likely root and ROM after the year warranty runs out, so i don't see that as being much of a deciding factor. It will release with ICS, which i already have.
I am only playing Devils Advocate, because like i said, I do want to want this phone. Thanks for all the input.

Looks to me that you already have your mind made up since what im seeing here is attempts to invalidate or brush off any advantage the SGS3 has over the rezound to convince yourself that the rezound is worth getting.
If you prefer the Rezound then by all means, enjoy it to the fullest
btw: galaxy nexus has samoled hd pentile, same as the sgs3 but .01 inch smaller.

I know the Rezound is worth getting since i already have it, and it rocks. No one will be disappointed if they decide to get it. But it is a 6-7 month old phone.
I plan to use my wife's upgrade, and bequeath my Rezound to her, because she really needs a better camera on her phone. I don't want to use her upgrade to get another Rezound because, well, then i don't get a new phone. But i have to use her upgrade before Unlimited data expires, so unless miracles happen and Verizon decides against dumping the unlimited thing, then the GS3 is the only option.
I guess i just expected better arguments from a newer flagship phone. Something defining. Something I couldn't live without, and could say, look how ridiculously awesome this is. But I will buy it and try it, and exchange it if i don't like it.
I appreciate all the input.

A new HTC smartphone has been revealed via GLBenchmark, a well-known site for device benchmarking.
The mystery device appears to be headed to Verizon to connect with the carrier's 4G LTE network.
More importantly, it packs a full-HD 1080p display and a new quad-core Snapdragon CPU capable of speeds that have never been achieved by the existing S4.
What is the DLX?
According to the GLBenchmark report, the new HTC phone could carry the code name "DLX."
Based on its model number HTC6435, though, it's likely to be a successor to the Verizon HTC Rezound model number HTC6425.
The Rezound was one of the first HTC smartphones with an HD display, so a follow-up with a full 1080p screen would be appropriate.
In fact, the HTC DLX (if that is its name) is equipped with a 1794x1080 display that - even if it includes space for on-screen buttons like other Android devices - could prove dazzling.
Besides the impressive screen resolution, the HTC DLX is powered by a quad core Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chip with an Adreno 320 GPU, clocking in at 1.5 GHz, but this doesn't appear to be the standard S4 present in many other smartphones.
One source speculates that the new HTC Verizon phone could even be equipped with the new S4 MSM8960T chip due to the considerable power it displayed in Benchmark tests.
In the Egypt off-screen and pro off-screen tests, it scored well over 100 (121.1 and 110.5 FPS respectively), numbers that other phones can't come close to.
The new HTC DLX for Verizon and possible Rezound successor runs Android 4.0.4, according to the benchmark reports, and along with the gorgeous screen and impressive quad-core processor, those are all the known details.
Watch out for more updates on the mystery HTC Verizon phone as the companies prepare to reveal whatever it is.

Im always getting the newest phone. I love the s3, but im one of those "got to have the newest phone" guys. I find that its much easier to keep on top of the current tech if you are constantly switching out devices, of you wait a year, or 2 years, your device is worth nothing, and upgrading is expensive. I almost always make money when changing phones out.. so. ya.

Ironically, I'm kinda with you on that one. I usually have about a 3-6 month turn around on my phones. I don't mind having middle of the line or bottom of the line, but having SECOND frome top just makes me want the one on top that much more.
If that bootloader gets unlocked and the battery doesn't suck... I'll bite. This gs3 was a penny for me.

I'm done with HTC phones. Never again. And I'm sick of having the newest toy. The GS3 with CM10 is the happiest I've ever been using a phone.
Htc needs to step up their overall build quality and batteries before ill consider another one of their phones.

Really? HTC phones have always seemed much more solid devices to me. The s3 is plastic thin and cheap feeling. (it doesn't look cheap, just feels like it) the rezound feels like a solid chunk of phone.

Yeah, it's a chunk of phone. As in, a brick. With a creaky plastic battery door, godawful flush buttons, dismal battery life, and a terrible update track record. Nice screen and camera though. I've owned 4 HTC phones (HTC Touch, Eris, Thunderbolt, Rezound) and they've all had certain advantages, and they've all had such enormous problems that I'm just not interested anymore--HTC is off the trusted list until they get their sh*t together with updates and kernel sources. And Sense just straight-up sucks. I don't love Touchwiz either, but at least it's footprint isn't so heavy.

Ya, there seem to be people on both sides. much like ford vs chevy. I personally think the build quality of HTC is incredible, i love the flush buttons, the red glow, seemed like a very fine and quality slab of technology. I think sense is amazing, sense 4.5 is incredible. The radios on HTC phones are top notch, my wife still has her rezound and she always has 4g where I don't. Our house has very poor 4g service, my s3 cannot hold a data connection at all. We use our phones to tether our laptops (we dont pay for cable.. ) and after switching from the rezound to the s3, I can no longer tether reliably. When its getting its 1 bar of 4g, it works fine, but after a few min it drops to 3g or 1x or nothing at all, I spend more time fiddling with airplane mode to try and get 4g back then I do getting any work done. So I have had to use her phones wifi tether to get anything important done.
The GPS on the s3 works kinda. We were in San Francisco a few weeks ago, I have a mount on my dash that holds my phone (not a dock, just an adjustable mount) and my phone is always in it for navigation. We had to swap phones because the s3 kept dropping the gps lock, and telling me to turn on streets that were either not near me, or in the wrong direction because the phone though I was pointing a differnt direction than I was, or that I was not moving when I was. Put her rezound in there and it worked flawlessly, even on the lower deck of the bay bridge.
Don't get me wrong, I think the s3 is a great device, (which is why I own one) But I also switch phones A LOT. I have had almost every flagship device on VZW. My experience overall with quality and reliability have always been HTC, where I think samsung always wins in the sexiness department.
At the end of the day, I jsut want my phone to work when I need it to work, being in a big city and needing to get from point A to point B, and having your 600 dollar device fail to provide that basic functionality in a reliable manner is something I have come to expect from Samsung.
I have had the all of the major Samsung devices on VZW, and all of the HTC phones. My opinion is based on using those phones every day while I had them.. just this last year alone (since sep last year) I have had the incredible 2, droid charge, rezound, nexus, and s3, and soon the new HTC.. I am the only one I know who gets a new phone ever 2 months or so
Isn't that artical quite a bit old? If we haven't seen anything more current about it i doubt its real. Either way there is no way i could afford to upgrade again.

That sucks.. Depending on when you got the phone and when you got the s3.. Isn't that 1 phone every week? Factor in shipping time.. You would have had to be calling to get a replacement every 4 to 5 days since you purchased the original phone..

I had like 6. And how can you factor in anything if you don't know his circumstances? I had two phones that had issues right away. from them and they overnight my phones to me every time.

True story, but it was two of my lines that both had rezounds. I bought them both back in November and had nonstop issues out the gate. Eventually I was able to convince Verizon to upgrade me to the gs3 though.

Ive always been a huge fan of Motorola phones. I got a Fascinate for my mom, but kept it till my Droid X came in. Samsung impressed me back then. I took a leap of faith on the S3 and I'm loving every minute of it. But with HTCs piss poor track record *ahem Thunderbolt, Rezound* pre-ordering that would be like jumping off a cliff. I'm still waiting for Moto's next big thing, but as good as the S3 has been... I might give the Moto to mommy
