UPDATED ONCE AGAIN - Stock Launcher & Enabling/Installing A Alternative Home Launcher
Here it is the xda post so you can use to use the stock 2.2 launcher (untested by me yet please post if you are successful), this will work for those to want to make your device look generic with no bells and whistles.

i personally reccomend adw launcher ex if you dont lkike sense. its feature packed. i bught it when i had my captivate and it was a good launcher

Like adw but, anyone doubting launcher pro on this thing should really try it. Very fast and seems to be helping battery. Don't get me wrong sense is beautiful so I switch between the two.

Used both but I used to have a 1400 mAh so I never really noticed the difference.
Something for people out there to consider if they do notice a difference.

Same here. One of the reasons I went with this over atrix. Keep trying diff. Launchers but none compare to sense. Plus battery does better with it, seriously. This phone was built for it even though I don't use all features.

Running a custom build of Launcher Pro, well see if there is a big difference in battery consumption vs ADW vs Sense
Obviously if you have tons of widgets your battery is going to go out quicker than usual

Update: completely abandoned sense and installed zeam. Fast fast fast! Also removed everything sense related in titanium backup. Battery doing very well for its size.

another question can i keep the htc sense lock screen ???

Just an update for anyone that's interested in Launcher Pro, I have had the phone on for 19 hours and 7 min and according to the battery usage within the Inspire it as only used 2% of the battery. I'm constantly utilizing it and changing the icons and dock background as well.
I've yet to use Zeam.
But if anyone wants to post usage details for the battery drain for any alternative launcher please do so here.

I love zeam launcher pretty fast and lightweight.
Sent from my GT-I5800 using Tapatalk
I've tried most of them and I always keep on going back to LauncherPro. The application drawer is the smoothest of the bunch.
Adw ex is by far the best launcher if you get the settings right its as smooth and fast as ios on the iphone4.
I've bought, and had Launcher Pro. I liked it, but once I tried out GO Launcher, I haven't been back since.
I always go back to Launcher pro its great. I like adw ex but I wish they had the names of the transition effects. it'll make it easier to pick which one you want to use. I would use Go Launcher it smooth and its FREE, but I'm not crazy about the resizing icons or my dock when I pick a dock or an icon for the dock. It'll come out blurry and fuzzy out of focus.
But Go Launcher is great and its always improving did I mentioned its FREE. Its a tough decision but for a home replacement with all the features I would pick Go Launcher.

i have a low end device (about 400 mhz cpu) and launcher pro had the smoothest transitions than all the other launchers
Zeam is the fastest for me, then comes GO Launcher. I use ADW EX tho, it has more customization than the others, but its much faster than Launcher Pro. (For me that is)
I've also tried HeLauncher, its pretty snappy. It also has a feature that has a lot of docks. From Sense, to Gingerbread, to some of the custom Sense docks on XDA.
for me, tag home is light weight and fast, but there's little you can do to its drawer or windows.
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
I was using launcher pro but after running ADW EX on my wifes Eris I have switched to that for about the last week. I don't see any drop in performance and the customization is amazing compared to LP. From themes to gestures and animations, the icon resizing is great as well. If you want something no frills you can always try Launcher 7 as well. It emulates the launcher from windows phone 7. It all comes down to preference really,i actually have 4 or 5 launchers on my phone that I keep just to show people differences first hand when they are choosing for their phones.

We could all sit here and tell you what our fav launcher is and why but it would not do much good. The speed will very depending on many things. Rom, Background apps, Device, Available mem, the list goes on and on. Best bet is to try them each out and find the fastest one for you on your device
Go launcher for me... Used all 3 for sometime and Go launcher have best of both awd and launcher pro world...
As nobody can ever agree which is faster i'm going to go out on a limb and say they're all about the same!
I tried ADW ex, GO ex and some others. I don't know why, but the only launcher with real fluid animations is LauncherPro.
I also like it's widgets.
Waiting for the completely rewritten LP....
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
In terms of the "feel" of the launcher, LP has been for me, hands down the smoothest and best feeling launcher (I've tried everything there is to try I think). In terms of plain speed, probably Zeam.
Go Launcher
Go Launcher will be my preference
I just switched to using Go Launcher EX from using Launcher Pro Plus and I think Go is much faster and responsive. However, that's all subject to change after the LPP rewrite is completed.

[Q] Is there a way to remove sence ui 3 on the htc sensation?

i personally want to use the original google android ui. so it use less ram and faster.

This is funny... I thought I was the only one who didn't like it. I really thought I was going to, but I find it just gets in the way.
I switched to LauncherPro (which I'm really happy with) and I stopped all the HTC related syncing stuff in the accounts setup. I'm not sure how much was saved, but it didn't seem to help much RAM and battery wise.
FWIW my wife hasn't had any complaints about it, and we both came from stock Android phones.
I can't wait to root this thing...
Did Launcher Pro not lag for you guys? I checked out the demo in the store and Launcher Pro chugged like none other. Who knows what they did to that demo before I picked it up though.
I really like LP. I saw a youtube video of the Sens. running it....looked great to me.
I'm running lpp on my sensation. It's a lot smoother than sense. No lag whatsoever.

I am also running Launcher Pro and it runs great. No lag. On a side note, is it worth the $3.50 to get the 'Plus' version of Launcher Pro?
I installed Zeam to see if it would be slow. It ran fine. I actually noticed that some aspects of Sense shutdown when you use another launcher.
Try ADW Ex just for the mere fact that is supports hardware acceleration unlike LPP and the other homescreen replacements.

yea and stock with stupid widgets cause cant use sense widgets(again) when using lpp or adw or any other launcher

Launcher Pro + Beutiful Widgets on the Sensation - FAST!

I have had my Sensation for about a week now. Been playing with both Launcher Pro and the stock sense. Stock sense seems REALLY laggy and kinda buggy. I have been using Launcher Pro for about a year and a half or so and when I loaded it on here and customized it makes the Sensation come alive! If anyone out there hates the lag try Launcher Pro until HTC comes up with an update to fix this.
One downfall is you do lose all of the HTC widgets. The phone still functions the same. And your notification bar and everything else is still there. Just the widgets won't show up when using it. There are widget apps out there like Beautiful Widgets or others that are free.
Just wanted to post this on here. A lot of people talking about lag. This is a great fix for it and speeds up your Sensation to what it should be!
Not trying to pimp Launcher Pro. Just tryin to give suggestions.
Cheers!
Yup, I myself am using adw ex & the phone is now flying. Do miss the sense widgets though. Little bit of give & take I suppose.

I am using the EXACT setup lol. I always use launcher pro with beautiful widgets. Best combo for me.
I am also using launcher pro. I did get the plus version with the extra widgets. I am somewhat disappointed in them and not sure it was worth the price. However, LP runs great, better than Sense, and I use it along with fancy widgets.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
It's fast for sure. I also use 5 row homescreen grid to fit more icons and widgets to certain screens. Plus version of Launcher Pro is definitely worth the money.
Me too
Ive done the same, ditched sense a few hours after unboxing, Launcher Pro Plus, Beautiful Widgets and Widgetsoid. Fewer FCs and much faster.
Doesn't sense still run in the background even if you use an alternative launcher?
+1 lpp working good for me with the combination of miui fancy widget.

Yes it does, there's no getting rid of it until we're rooted.
Home screens arr very smooth with launcher pro... But my app drawer.lags quite a bit. Same with adw
Anyone else use Folder Organizer?
I really don't like swiping. Much rather click. So I only use one home screen, with folders. Click, click, to access any app, shortcut or bookmark I want. Very fast, zero lag.
Folder Organizer has the advantage of allowing custom icons for the folders, so home page looks like a screen of apps, instead of a bunch or generic folder icons.
One disadvantage, can't link to a widget from inside a folder. But, 3rd party launchers have a similar issue, and I can still put widgets on other home screens if needed.
We have 2 sensations and both running BW and LPP. Our home screens are still not smooth in transitions and often laggy. This is on 2 tmobile sensations. My previous G2x was much faster and smoother.
Also I believe LPP is messing with my geolocation. Not sure how, but when I remove LPP I don't have geolocation issues(tells me I am in a different state).
I prefer Regina right now but I love messing with launchers
Idk what kind of setup you guys are running or maybe your definition of lag is different then mine, but I have no lag at all.

Destop visualizer in sense
I have been an ADW launcher user for quite a while
on HD2 (2 of), Desire HD and now sensation.
But I have also been using Desktop Visualizer to add custom icons to empty sense pages - best of both worlds.
i also have ADW as a home page choice - have not set either as the default yet.
Only had sensation for 4 days.

In my opinion Go launcher is the more stable launcher, less laggy then LauncherPro or ADW. However ADW and Go Launcher are very similar as to the level of customization. Hope this helps.
Launcher Pro imo.
ADW EX when I'm not using Sense. I've tried several others and they just don't have the 'polished' look that I prefer. Not to mention, the Themes (specifically the icons) by Sean York are my favorite.
I'm back using LP now

i use adw launcher ex which is my fav, i say use the one that you like the most they all have their pro and con
Exactly. I suggest trying them all for a day or two. After all, everyone has different needs and preferences. Just because one launcher is more 'popular' than the others doesn't mean that you'll prefer it.
Ok. Ty all for you're input. I will try Launcher Pro as well as ADW, and see what fits me the best
Cheers
I've seen on a post that ADW can sometimes drain fast the battery.
I use Go Launcher Pro, with Go SMS and Contacts. So I have a unified set of apps.
LP is good but to have similar functions to Go you have to buy it so....
i'm using launcher pro, and i still haven't got any problems, maybe is a little bit slower than go launcher. Give it a try.
I love using ADW. It's has just the style I like. The battery drain issue might be true. Ever since I changed to ADW, my battery drains very fast. I just have to check if that has to do with the launcher or with my overclocked kernel.
I prefer ADW Launcher EX, mainly because I have become used to the ADW launcher from Cyanogenmod. It works well for me on my thunderbolt.
"SPB Shell 3D" hands down if your processor can handle it. Its kinda pricey for a launcher but its seriously worth at least checking out. Watch some of the videos and I'm sure you'll fall in love. Good luck!
After trying many I've settled with Go Launcher EX it's so fluid..
Zeam Launcher is the best so far. Try it
GO launcher is the best. Period. Beats all others easily, including the over priced spbshell 3d.. do yourself a favor and install it.. you're welcome..

What launcher do you like?

Well we all know sense is fat and slow. It looks great. But we want speed. Or at least i do. I use adw at the moment. I think its pretty good. Have any of you tried launcher pro or something else that you think is far better than any other. Lets take a poll. Im interested. Thanks

ADW EX. I'll never use anything else. The hidden dockbar is just too good. Fast and clean and nothing else comes close for customization.
Also used Launcher Pro, but ADW wins.
I have always used adw on my other phones with CM7, but it didn't seem to run very well on the sensation. I just tried Launcher Pro starting about 2 days ago and that is where I am staying until something changes.

I use Go Launcher. I tried Adw and launcher Pro ex but I just think that the customization in Go Launcher is better than anything else, at the moment anyways. I also like the transitions and the" wrap around" home screens. I keep the other two installed just to check for updates.
I wouldn't mind a faster launcher, but I really like the ring lockscreen scheme on Sense.

Do any launchers support the qHD wallpaper like Sense does? I've tried Go Launcher and ADW and can't get them to not crop my wallpaper photo too much. The form factor isn't right.
Also Go Launcher dock icons are too small on this screen, and don't seem adjustable.

I use launcher pro and you still keep the sense lockscreen. One downfall of sense is that it only takes gives you a 4x4 layout. I have 5x10 layout using launcher pro means you can fit more on your homescreens. Plus you can resize widgets.
