[Q] Inspire 4G question - HTC Inspire 4G

What are the chances current rooting methods and ROM's for the DHD will work on the Inspire?

I would assume that it would be the same. We just have to wait for the devs to get their hands on it. I am ditching the captivate for a better working gps and larger screen. Hoping this phone pans out to be half way decent.
If you can run dhd roms with it and swap out the modem driver for the 4g then we should have gingerbread in the form of cm7 right away.

Woo can't wait!
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App

There is nothing to swap modem wise... "4G" is not a feature that has been added compared to the European or Telus version. They all have HSPA+. It's just that AT&T has decided to give the technology a flashy name.

The inspire 4G looks identical to the Desire HD and according to my sources they share the same code name .... ACE .... if this is the case the desire HD stuff is relevent ..... when someone gets there hands on one pls pm me to see if the inspire can be rotted by the normal methods ( user shoud know how to use fastboot + adb )
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

If anyone is brave enough to teardown an Inspire 4G, they could also compare to the DHD teardown:
http://forum.frandroid.com/topic/40711-demontage-desire-hd-tombe-dans-leau/
And confirm if anything looks greatly different.
Seeing as the Telus Desire HD will be on the same frequencies and was announced the same day as AT&T's version, I would be very surprised if there were any hardware differences at all between that and the Inspire 4G. The Telus/Bell network is HSPA+ capable (as evidenced by Bell's Desire Z launch) so I can't see any reason Telus would intentionally ask HTC to send them a version with such a feature stripped out.

If it turns out to be able hackable via the exact same way as the Desire HD and it can run the same unmodified ROMS then perhaps this entire forum section for the Inspire 4G is pointless. In which case it might be better to get rid of the Inspire 4G section or rather merge it and rename the Desire HD to "Desire HD / Inspire 4G"

@r_3 You're going from the Captivate? Is the gps and .3in'' bigger screen worth it? Im not triking to say anything; I have the captivate as well and just wondering about your feelings on it.

I have one too, and yes.
It's not just GPS and a bigger screen.
I don't know about you, but I'm STILL waiting for the Sense ROM to get stable for Captivate and I don't think it's coming anytime soon. Inspire is.
Plus the better camera and flash.
Plus the more premium-feeling aluminum case.
Plus, again--HTC.
I would switch in a heartbeat considering warranty has to give you a phone due to ATT not holding Captivate [refurb] anymore.

Captivate, Galaxy, Vibrant, whatever the hell they call that phone these day, it sux donkey's balls. The GPS is garbage, the phone feels like garbage in ur hands, samsung software update is garbage. Stick w HTC, even if they dont give out official updates, we will always be up to date due to how much devs here on xda are supporting HTC products, HTC sense beats samsung, motorola and lg all day.

I know I am doing my best to justify changing phones form the Captivate, mostly because of the similarity to the DHD and the fact that it is an HTC phone.

Its working gps. Supported phone from the manufacturer. Flash for the camera. Etc that have me leaving my captivate. SAMSUNG really rubbed me the wrong way and a lot of other people as well with their lack of communication and support for their customers. They are more interested in developing new phones and forgetting about their existing customer base and keeping them as loyal customers.
HTC is a phone company that I have used in the past and have been extremely happy with them. I will never buy another SAMSUNG phone.

I think you guys have talked me into it. When I night the captivate I was happy with it for a little until I hit the common problems (gps, updates, lack of real asop devs). I have really wanted to get an htc but I don't want to lose the great display. Do you guys think the inspire will have a better screen than the evo? My buddy has one and the display is lacking big time.

Does your buddy have the AMOLED or SLCD Evo?
The AMOLED is comparable to the Nexus One screen which is brilliant in some light and rather dim in others. The SLCD has a more even appearance to it, and is comparable to the Desire HD screen. Possibly still not as bright as the Samsung super AMOLED but you'd have to decide for yourself.

Is this true for all ATT stores? I'd love to be able to go in and get an Inspire 4g but since I bought the Captivate on day 1 I am not eligible for an upgrade yet. I'm fed up with the nonfunctional GPS in the Captivate.

+1 I think what he was saying is that if you go in to get a new phone from warranty they would be forced to give you an inspire?? If this is indeed true I believe everyone in the right mind would be switching out their cappy for a new inspire. I just can't see ATT actually doing this. I mean they totally should it has been like 6 months and my GPS is still as f*@KE# as it was in the beginning. I have tried every hack mod fix and rom out there and no matter what it doesnt hold a candle to my gf's iphone 4. [email protected] SAMSUNG AND THEIR UNWILLINGNESS TO HELP PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS.

Mytouch 4g or nexus s

Hi, I currently have a rooted mytouch 4g running android 2.3 that I bought used off of craigslist. I got an offer to trade my mytouch 4g plus cash for a nexus s brand new. Now I don't necessarily love Samsung but the deal seems like it could be beneficial to me. Some background:
I have a mytouch with a 'bad screen'
I have absolutely none of the original packaging or accessories.
The phone is a bit scuffed up and it is purple.
Now I was hoping you guys could give me your opinion, if you were in my shoes, would you trade or keep the phone?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I wouldn't....
too many bad things about the nexus s, and far too many fones that will be released in the next few months that will outdate "kill" the nexus S while the mt4g even with a bad screen STANDS STRONG, i also have a bad screen and this is far better processor, plus you can contact htc through tmoble to possibly exchange now for the scuffs u can spend 11bucks at ur local mall and get watever color gel case u want and.u now have ur fave color mt4g in ur hands
just my opinion do sum reading thru here there are lots of negatives to the nexus s, our (mt4g) gingerbread runs wayyy better
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I honestly do not see why not... If I was in your shoes I would do it, if you don't you will probably be asking yourself what if? Plus you should factor in the following which is are you able to fully utilize hspa+ where you are.... Ultimately it also comes down to whether you have patience for Nexus S development to pick up and moreover if the mytouch better suits what you need... The Nexus S in my honest opinion is currently a better offering hardware wise and potentially (support google/dev scene) software wise with the largest omission being hspa+...
Apparently very debatable

I got the NS for 1 week and I went back to the MT4G. Maybe you like the NS, so try it and if not you can trade it again. I had a thread about my experience with the NS and compared it a bit to the MT4G.
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913896
I'm returning my Nexus S tomorrow. Picked up the my touch yesterday. So far I think this version of Sense is terrible. That, however can be fixed. Really there are a number off things I don't like about the my touch yet I will still return the Nexus. GPS, accelerometer, and compass all function much better on the my touch. Huge difference. If I'm going to spend 500 bucks on a phone I expect the features that make it more than just a phone to work well. Updates from Google are important but I would rather have well functioning hardware. If the my touch never receives another ota it's still a pretty good phone. The Nexus will probably never have a stable compass or gps. That's my take at least. There were some other hardware issues such as phantom button presses that put me over the edge with the Nexus, but that may have been cured with an exchange.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I went from the G1, which I loved, to the Vibrant, which I loved to hate. The developers did the best they could but the phone was still sitting with no official froyo six months after release, so I got fed up and sold it.
I got a Nexus S after the hype, went through two replacements before I got one that functioned properly. In the end, I still couldn't come to terms with the fact I was essentially buying another Samsung phone. I did some comparison shopping. Turned my S back for a refund and got a MT4G.
I did have to exchange the MT4G one time to get one with a good display, so I wasn't too happy at first, but now I'm much happier than I was with the Nexus S. It's got a more solid build, the camera is better, the buttons are responsive (big problem with the Nexus), the GPS locks quickly, I trust an HTC device 100x more than a Samsung device, and considering that we are getting Cyan 7 nightlies that are already fairly stable, I know I've made the right choice.

Thats what I would do... Make a post, selling a Nexus S you haven't traded for yet, and see how many hits you get... if you get some legit hits.. I would trade the MT4G for the NS and sell the NS, then buy a MT4G or wait for some of these next-gen phones to come out. I LOVE the MT4G....it is amazing...think the NS fails in comparision...and anyone that would pick a NS over the MT4G is prolly just doing so because they are google fanboys, or they don't want to admit to themselves they paid 500 dollars for a phone that is basically the iphone with bugs....I honestly don't think anyone looking at the matchup objectively would pick the NS over the MT4G. Good Luck with your decision making, hope it works out.
You really want to get some unbiased answers post this same question in the Nexus S forms... Btw, I agree with the poster above if your heart is set on a mytouch 4g turn around and sell the Nexus S you acquire and obtain a mytouch 4g with the better built screen and possibly a better exterior color, like black

LOL now now lets not be that harsh, NS can still beat down the iPanzy 4 with its eye closed. But NS does not compare against MT4G as we know TMo Project: Emerald was successful IMO they created a monster muahaha and even its brother DHD can't beat MT4G in speed yet they share similar spec. NS could have been good but its crippled by Samsung due to their inferior management and other marketing factors.
If I am not mistaken doesn't the hummingbird processor take advantage of gingerbread in ways any generation of the snapdragon processor cannot? Or was this a myth?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Originally I wanted the nexus s but my parents got me the mytouch.
To me 2.3 was a huge bonus for the nexus s but now the mytouch has 2.3 so its all good. The next advantage was the better screen for the nexus but now that super amoled two displays are coming out the nexus screen will be obsolete soon enough.although if I was you I would just wait for the phones announced at ces to come out.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Yeah, you're pretty much going to get biased opinons, but I think the myTouch has a better chance of anything at this point. We got the CM7 nightys coming along nicely, and we even have a cleaned up version of the stock rom which runs like fire (Iced Glacier) and overall it supports TMobile's 4G network.
MyTouch all the way. You really don't need the NFC for another couple of years cause they're just starting to put some use to it.
MyTouch all the way, and plus read some of the stuff about the Nexus, it's having lagging issues, random reboots and such. And plus it's a Samsung device, that doesn't mean it won't get the next version of Android quick, but the fact that it's just a samsung device and that it feels like ****. The Mytouch (at least mine) feels solid.
ATM its just a myth as Hummingbird S5PC110 does not stand a chance with Snapdragon MSM8255 was only factor with 1st gen Snapdragon. But however at the same time credit must be given to SGX 540 as its slightly better than Adreno 205. Then again this is where Samsung can only excel huh in graphic and SAMOLED display. Also don't let the whole NS using ext4 BS get to you as we are still not in dualcore world fully but ext4 does have its benefits. Overall MT4G beats NS with its face down in the gutter where Samsung belongs. This device is not any type of flagship but it does have potentials as lineup device, only thing I see holding it back is Samsung lol and then again they tend to do that.
I've had both but ultimately chose the MyTouch because having 4g speeds made a huge difference in the entire experience. On the NS I was always having to run wifi. Also the NS just never felt complete. Running CM7 makes the MT4g a complete phone.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
Dont, Nexus S isnt really a that good of phone plus u have gingerbread etc and Nexus S is samsung made. Cheap quality. MT4g kicks its ass in CPU and Some GPU stuff ( shader performance and more) so i say keep it
If you have 2.3 on your mt4g there is no point. That's the only thing the nexus s has over mt4g out of the box. Plus the mt4g has 4g and HTC is better than Samsung by a long shot...

1. SamSux has screwed me once already with the Behold2.
2. They have shrunk the internal storage from 16GB to 1GB (Vibrant to Vibrant4G).
3. yeah their screen is bigger and looks better indoors and on cloudy days, but I live in Texas as a Trucker and we have many more Sunny days than cloudy.
4. MT4G = 756MB RAM, Vibrant/Vibrant 4G = 512MB RAM.
in short not just NO!!! but OH HELL NO!!! I don't care if SamSux but out a triple-core 5GHz processor... Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I don't do well when I am the cause of my own shame.

Mytouch 4g / CM7 / Minimalist Theme
I once liked Samsung
I had a vibrant and i loved it when it came out, then as half a year passed i still didn't have 2.2 froyo, it was just ridiculous even phones like the lg optimus had 2.2, if touchwiz was delaying the release of 2.2 get rid of it, then the nexus s came out and it was running 2.3, which pissed me off even more to have a phone that is considered top of the line running outdated software. so i got rid of the vibrant, got a mytouch 4g rooted it , installed CM7 nightly build (2.3) and i get updates daily, i will never go back to samsung for anything electronic.Never.
Why would anyone want to trade what I feel is a far superior phone for something they will have nothing but problems with. The MyTouch 4G superior in every way besides the screen display. The screen IMO isn't that much better them the MyTouch 4G. I happen to have one of the good screens.
Nexus One & MyTouch 4G
Vinny
Can not put my Nexus One down.
The Vibrant 4G is just a marketing ploy for people with Vibrants with 2.2 (which it just got) to switch over to 2.3, instead of just updating the software. Don't get me wrong, the Galaxy S is a great phone. Samsung just wants to make money while not caring about the consumer.
I wouldn't do it ....I would just wait for something better like a dual core phone ......I had the vibrant before my mt4g and yeah screen was good but so many problems with lag and updates for it ......I'm super happy with my mt4g I will upgrade as soon as something better comes out but foe now mt4g is the best out there for now ......

for me software is not important, it's the hardware that attracts me as i flash custom roms all the time. the vibrant does have a good development community so if software is not an issue then i say go for it, however, i suggest you just wait because the galaxy s2 will be announced 2 mondays from now and you can be sure that bad boy is coming to t-mobile. or you can wait for the htc inspire...either way my next phone will definitely be a dual core.

Software is very important. Go read Engadgets review of the Optimus 2X. Best hardware on any phone out there but horrible software that can cripple the phone. Samsung's software is horrible and crippled the Vibrant.
Samsung sucks, they screwed up the behold 2 which was great hardware. They screwed up the Vibrant which was great hardware. The Vibrant 4G will suck. The only phone they make that is good is the Nexus S because its stock google software.
If you upgrade or get a good deal then I guess it's ok. But if you purchase this phone at full retail for 650 buck... you're a moron.

[Q] Former Captivate Owners..?

Hey guys,
I have a Captivate right now and am strongly considering switching over to the Inspire. I really wanted to get former Captivate user's opinions before I go ahead and jump ship; I really think that there are a couple of faults the Inspire has and I want to make sure that I'm making the right choice.
So, I kinda want to get this through before you guys ask
I don't use data, I use Wi-Fi at home.
I don't need GPS.
Texting and calling is important for me.
Graphics and speed is important for me.
Memory is important for me.
I'm going to be using it with a data opt-out on this phone, so I won't even have EDGE. I normally use my phone to listen to my music library, text, and call friends, with the occasional game/app every once in a while. I also enjoy reading occasionally, which is why I'm considering switching to the bigger-screened Inspire. I definitely will have to buy a 32GB microSD for it too, since my music library is a little bit under 8GB, and even then--it's still growing every other weekend.
What should I consider before switching?
Thanks, and sorry for the long post..
Speaking as a former cappy owner, the inspire out of the box is already better than any custom rom captivate. Adding cm7 makes it so bloody quick that it will blow you away. And with the recent audio fix posted in the Dev forum, calls are crystal clear.

I agree. Do it. Even stock, this phone is better then captivated. The best part is that everything works. If you use the stock rooted roms, the call quality is great, the gps works and the keyboard a lot better the captivated. The only problem is that the root kinda sucks compared to captivated but not too bad. I haven't tested the music app yet.
you couldnt pay me to go back to captivate way faster. everyone keeps boasting about how good the cappy hardware is but it doesnt compare in speed to inrpsire out of the box mine is stock and was doing 2200 to 2400 on quad scores, Definately loving my inspire. Not to mention how sweet the htc software looks out of the box .
I agree...I came from the captivate world and its amazing how different the Froyo 2.2 is from one device to another. And then there is the GPS.....I didnt know what a GPS was with the captivate.

This is a pretty amazing statement seeing how the atrix is supported to be so much better than the inspire based on the specs. I have been trying to explain to a lot of people on xda that it is not all about the specs and when u compare the atrix to the inspire the inspire is just a better phone. The development is already better than the captivate and with the atrix and its locked bootloader u are forced to wait on MOTO. Not to mention the inspires screen blows the atrix out the water! same data plan but they change it to what is called hspa + 4g still data pro 2gig 25.00 and I love the inspire battery life is equal if not better then captivate. I use captivate moderately at work and it needs to be charged on way home, my inspire used heavy all day today and was at like 45% battery power omw home. People can state all they want that captivate has better hardware but fact is inspire is faster I was getting 2200 and higher quad and that is on stock no tweaks at all.
I work at an at&t retailer and I got my Inspire when it came out. I was hesitant because I loved my captivate but everything on the inspire is better. the only thing i miss is swype and free wifi teathering ( im waiting for one click root on the inspire bc im a noob). The Inspire is well worth the money but if your willing to wait the samsung infuse is coming out soon and will be even better in my opinion. I have had a few customers come in hating the captivate, due to battery, service quality, and other issues and i got them in to inspires and all of them only have good things to say about it.
its very easy to put swype on it.
I have had the captivate since launch day and got the inspire a week or so ago. This evening I dropped the inspire in some water getting out of my car Screen comes on but touch not working all the time. Its sitting in a cup or rice and I'm using the captivate again. Its over-clocked to 1.4 and running serendipity while my inspire was 1.7 and cm7.
Right away I notice the captivate feels slower to open apps and populate information in apps on first open, the inspire is almost instant. Once apps are loaded into memory they feel similar but the captivate with widgets and multiple apps open does bog down compared to the inspire.
When I first switched to the inspire I missed the captivate screen, now I miss the inspire screen so who knows what that says.
All in all I hope the inspire recovers and the captivate will be on craigslist. Its been a great phone and fun introduction to android but the inspire is just better in almost every way and the additional memory seals the deal for me.
O but the gpu on the captivate is better, gets better frame rate in almost everything Ive seen 3D wise but not by much. Inspire does get about 30-40% more battery life over captivate for me.

Moving On to HTC Inspire

Hey guys. I'm actually relatively new on the forums, though I've had my Captivate since December last year. I have been using ROMs from these forums since the third day I had my phone, I just never registered.
Anyway, I just feel I should make a post thanking everyone. Mostly MikeyMike01 and ChanceM, because the third ROM I ever flashed was Serendipity. And I've been using Serendipity since then. I have indeed flashed things in between, but the longest I've ever had a non-Serendipity ROM on my phone has been less than an hour. So it's safe to say that Serendipity is a physical part of my phone now... In fact, since I'm getting the HTC Inspire, my brother is getting my Captivate (his first Android phone), and the ROM that I pre-loaded for him is Serendipity 5.12. That's how much I trust/love this ROM.
Anyway, does anyone have any opinions on the HTC Inspire? I remember seeing one other person in these forums who switched to the same phone, saying that it seemed like a more sturdy phone.
I will thoroughly miss these Captivate forums though. Thanks are as follows:
MikeyMike01
ChanceM
existz (I use SuckerPunch-Voodoo)
Samsung (LOL I use the KP1 modem, dunno who to thank for this one)
Anyone else who has some sort of mod on my phone.
its way faster and way more enjoyable, I wouldnt go back for nothing u will definately like it.
I couldn't justify spending $500 on a software upgrade.
The SGS2 seems interesting though. Have to find a place to import it fit a reasonable price... The international version is completely AT&T compatible.

We've already proven that Samsung isn't the problem, its at&t. The i9000 already getting gingerbread.

That doesn't change how poorly Samsung codes their ROMs..

I think Samsung does a decent job, the i9000 roms are pretty close to perfect without any mods.

I wouldn't push it that far....
After weighing all the pros and cons of the Galaxy S series and the upcoming 2 (talking about the internation/original here), the Galaxy S 2 will most likely be my next device. Decent build, decent software, hardware is top notch, and that screen is something I can't drop now that I've stared at it for so long. Knowing that the international Galaxy S 2 works with AT&T's HSPA+ bands without modifications is also a deciding factor.
please help me out. I'm with rogers canada they are sending me iphone 4. There is no way ill use or open it cause of previous experience. So I'm gonna sell it for 500. Now if you had to buy any of this phone which you would get? Atrix, sgs2, dhd, or nexus s. DHD already available here and nexus s and atrix coming this month. Sgs2 heard somewhere at&t version will be available. So which you would get?

I'd never pay that much for a phone. I'm buying it because my father's iPhone 4 is now eligible for upgrade, but he doesn't want a new phone so we're using his upgrade for mine.

Agreed for the most part. AT&T held back the Froyo ROM without a doubt for stupid reasons, but we aren't sure if the i9000 is actually getting Gingerbread. Yeah, it was leaked, but so was Froyo way back when. I understand that Froyo wasn't released for our phone mostly because of AT&T, but you can't be so sure; it's still just a "leak".

Not true at all. Serendipity is the closest I've found to perfect, but it's still a ROM. From experience and from hearing other people speak about the Inspire, you don't really even need to put a ROM on the HTC Inspire 4G for it to be perfect. I'm definitely going to flash something (maybe something that'll remove Sense UI, I'm not sure if I'll like it), but most of the features in the ROMs are already found on the phone as stock.

I would not get the DHD. I have a friend who has it, and it's just overhyped. It's not as good as everyone makes it seem.
The Nexus S is pretty much like this phone in which you'll have the same amount of development. The hardware may be different in technical respects, but the same in user experience.
The SGS 2 isn't released yet, but when it is, it's going to be a great phone. If it was already released, I'd consider buying it, but I'm not going to wait for it to come out.
The Atrix is somewhat overkill, but if you're entering college or have a need for a netbook/small laptop with basic features (e-mail, Facebook, etc.), then the Atrix is for you. It's just expensive, even with a contract.
Also, please post questions in the Q&A forum; that's why it's there.
Try Cognition 4.1 on your captivate. You won't be disappointed.
The Inspire kicks ass.

Between CM7 and MIUI on the Inspire it blows anything and everything out of the water in the Captivate/i9000 forums. After seeing how Samsung utterly destroys their phones with Touchwiz, I'll never buy a Samsung phone again.
Go with the Inspire and you will not be disappointed.
So DHD is not that good but inspire 4G is recommended? it's a bit confusing. Isn't the inspire 4G just a DHD with another name? Is there something I am missing?
The inspire is a downgrade hardware wise. Should of held out for something more amazing that's coming out this year. If it doesn't have a dual core I'm not interested.

They are basically the same phone. So that suggestion doesn't make much sense...
Inspire is a downgrade in hardware but upgrade in software. Add to that the rooting is quite a pain compared to the captivate...

Ohhhhh I thought you were talking about a phone that doesn't exist (Droid HD anyone?).
Anyway, yes, the phones are almost completely similar. It's just that the DHD is European, I believe.

How so? It has a lower pixel density and a Super LCD, which are both a downgrade, but I don't watch videos on my phone. Otherwise, how is it a downgrade? It has 700 somewhat MB of RAM, gets amazing Quad and Linpack scores compared to the Captivate (I don't base opinions on benchmarks, though), and Sense UI, though I might not use Sense...
the insipire isnt much of an upgrade. did u already get it? i personally would still take my captivate over it
I honestly can't see any of the current phones destroy the captivate in functionality and flexibility except for the nexus S. Pure google + decent specs.
The inspire blows cap away in speed, everyone in inspire forums will tell u that and almost all of them are previous captivate owners and switched to it, even blows the atrix away, call it a downgrade or whatever put whatever spin u like on it and its still the top phone to beat. and it works out of the box the radio even works great, i get no random shut downs my battery consumption is better then cappy, I dont get lag at all, it will load any program faster and run it better then the cappy did, watch a video on youtube about it, http://www.smartphoneenvy.com/featured/face-off-htc-inspire-4g-vs-samsung-captivate/ and yes no doubt there will be more better phones out this year same as 6 months from then there will be even more, with my 6 month early upgrade it cost me 300 to get it which I certainly can live with, in 6 months i will get another of the better phones out of the time.
I gave my Cap to my aunt. I have Serendipity 5.12 on it and MIUI on my Inspire. I have around 75 apps on the Inspire and it booted quicker, unlocked quicker, and the notification bar pulled down with no lag at all.
I was running CM7 on it and it was even faster than that.
The screen difference isn't that big of a deal, either, and I've stared at the SAMOLED screen since last August.

[Q] bye bye t-mobile, but what phone to get?

Ok so here's the rub. I literally like almost a month ago got my HTC Glacier and my t mobile service. I'm now done with it. I absolutely love the phone but hate the service here. I'm keeping it as a pay as I go phone just to mess around with android and to help me learn without worrying about bricking my only phone but I am moving to sprint service.
Which means.... Anyone, anyone? New phone!!!
My choices are the
1. HTC EVO 4G (not the shift) which I'm leaving towards.
2. NEXUS S 4G By Google which has a smaller screen than the EVO.
3. Kyocera ECHO ... two screens bro this thing is sweet but...
So anyone with these phones please post a review.
I want a phone with a lot of sport from communities like xda.. One that is as fast as my current phone.. A big screen, no keyboard, just touch screen. A good sharp display, responsive touch screen...
Like I said I'm leaving towards the evo but I've heard good things about the nexus s...
So can you guys please help me decide?
Edit: should I maybe wait for the EVO 3D to come out or is it not worth it
get the Evo4G. Has a great following and is officially supported by CM7 nightlies. I wouldnt bother with the Evo3D because if im not mistaken it has a locked bootloader. (caused the big community uproar and HTC finally saying they have no plans to lock down a android phone again).
I'd say get the EVO4G. My mother has one, and I've fiddled with it a little bit and I'd say its by far the best android phone I've ever touched with my non-worthy hands, besides my Hero of course. Look up some reviews they're everywhere.
First post woot.
I've got an Echo. It's a great phone. Battery life is on par with the Evo and it's not laggy contrary to what most people say.
K so the 3d is locked?
Ok I think I'll go with the evo 4g.. the echo is cool but.. i think the evo will have more community support
HTC has said by email that the 3D will NOT be locked. It's by far the biggest reason behind the whole campaign/whinefest we had. :] If the 3D ships locked with no way to unlock it officially, HTC will get a backlash for worse than what we did before. With Radioshack's tentative 24th release, I would say wait just a little longer... at least until the EVO 4G drops in price on and off-contract.
Edit, I wanted to post source on Peter Chou's confirmation!

+1 get the evo 3d it is gonna be way worth the wait
I say go with samsung droid charger 4g lte
It have 8 megapixes camera
front face camera 1.3 megapixes
Super Amoled
720p video recording
Mobile AP= Mobile hotspot.
Best carrier service.
4.3 inches screen same as HTC evo.
Htc now a days be making android device that get outdated quickly in 1 year or 6 months. Unlike Samsung and motorola that doesnt.
Wow, nexus S all the way
Nexus s it ok phone, but if u want stock their plenty of option like sony ericcson xperia play on Verizon is stock gingerbread or Nexus one. you can hack galaxy phone which is the same as nexus s to get stock roms in it...
I am getting Sprint for sure. They are the only carrier I haven't had problems with. Cuz I haven't used them. I want an HTC phone the most. I've used a Motorola droid2 global and I flicking hate it. I think I'll wait for the evo3d.
Hah, you'll have problems with customer service. :X
