nls_utf8.ko for CM6.1.0-Liberty + init.d script - HTC Aria Android Development

This can make filenames with special characters to be shown correctly when using cifs.
The module was extracted from the kernel in this post.
The script I wrote would load modules by insmod. You can select which modules to load on boot by editing the config file located at /data/init.insmod.conf.
The config file will be re-generated after delete / data wipe.
The attached file is also hosted here

With cm6, you must also install the GAPPS add on for Google apps.

>>>>> UPDATE <<<<<
OK, folks!
For some unknown reasons a lot of users asking for a REAL ORIGINAL ROOTED ROM. This is a PD98IMG.ZIP file which is flashable via the boot loader.
Now I'll present you this ROM at this download:
http://www.multiupload.com/AURLLESU5V
- EVERYTHING is still ORIGINAL
- NOTHING has changed or added or modified at this ROM
- Bussybox is installed
- Toolbox is installed
- Superuser 3.07 is installed
The ONLY exception is the RECOVERY partition. I still like to use the 4ext to do some backups and other things. That's the reason why I keep this partition within the ROM.
Finaly here are common questions and answers about this ROM:
Q: How to update?
A: Just download the PD98IMG.zip and store it on your SDCARD. Unplug the batterie, plug it back and press the VOL-DOWN key for enter the bootloader. That's it.
Q: Does it work on every device?
A: Don't know. But it's working on every device with S-OFF
Q: This ROM is a peace of crap! Why the hell the "lib" folder is not within the "system" partition?
A: This question you should ask HTC. If you need the "lib" folder within the "system" partition please use an other image than this because this is ORIGINAL!
Q: Where I can add some support question about this ROM?
A: Use the trash bin because I will not give any support or add features or anything else to this ROM.
Q: Do you plan to do other things with this ROM?
A: NO!!!!!!!
Q: I love this ROM. But I want to do some changes and release this to the community. Is this O.K.?
A: From my point of view this ROM is Public Domain. Don't ask. Enjoy it and do it!
Regards!

multiupload is much better so its a plus =D
how can i root it, i unintentionally install it on my phone and i cant get rid of
U need to install the recovery.img from mike1986 ROM 6.1x
How to do?
Make a PD98IMG.ZIP file which contains the android file and recovery.img
Flash this and then install the superuser 3.07
But fyi - the lib folder is outside the system.img
So if you want to install additional things to this ROM it might be that this will not work.

the two that dont get deodexed is maps and google voice if im not mistaken. just replace them with the apk's from market. This happens for most all htc ruu's.
The important files still get deodexed though, and thats what matters.

u are spot on abt the 2 files that fail to de-odex.
need a clarify abt "just replace them with the apk's from market".... u mean, while de-odex, just remove the file and after flashing the rom, then install the 2 files from market...
or i need still to replace the file before zipping them back into roms?
anyway, thanks for sharing the knowledge.

Use whatever Rom you have on your device now, use a file explorer to get into /data/app and copy the Apk's specific to maps (com.google.maps) and voice (com.google.[somethingorother].voice) and copy em to your sd. Then plug in to pc, choose storage mode, and move em to your pc. Or if you're familiar with adb commands, you can go that route, but you need to know the exact filename of the Apk.

second method: delete both the map.odex & map.apk, then replaced with a map.apk - rom hangs on boot up
third method: delete map.odex & map.apk and continue to cook - rom hangs on boot up

Is there a zip to change DPI?

Hi,
Previously, I would edit the build prop to change the DPI on my Nexus however with CM12 nightlies, it is annoying to have to edit it every day. I noticed in CyanDelta that there's an option to flash a zip after updating and I'm wondering whether or not there is (or if I could create) a zip that lowers the DPI.
Thanks!

Extract the zip and edit build_prop.sh to your liking, the one default in this zip changes 480 to 470.
You could probably also use a backuptool/addon.d script instead of flashing a zip if your ROM supports it.
Edit: Reuploaded, forgot to save

Thanks! I've just edited it to my preferred DPI and I'll see if it works with tomorrow's nightly! I'm just wondering what a backuptool/addon.d script is? Would it be easier to use even though the zip will automatically be flashed with the ROM update (through CyanDelta)?
EDIT: I just found an addon.d folder in the System directory. Can I just leave the '.sh' file in there?

Scripts in addon.d are executed during a ROM flash if your ROM supports it. It might work if you put the .sh in, try it.

I just received today's update and unfortunately the addon.d method didn't work. Following that, I tried flashing the zip but TWRP says, 'E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/Download/ro.sf.lcd_density.zip'
Do you know what this might be?

[FIX]CM AOSP keyboard swipe fix zip

Hello guys. I found this annoying bug on CyanogenMod 12.1 based ROM, that the swipe feature on AOSP keyboard does not work. So I have made a flashable zip of few hundred KBs that allows you to use Swipe. You can flash it over any ROM (might work on older versions of android too) and it won't require any kind of wipe.
Requirements
Root
Custom Recovery
SwipeFix.zip - 464.4KiB
Do not mirror please.
How to use the mod?
Boot into custom recovery
Flash the zip
Reboot into system
profit
If you want to use the mod, give proper credits
Hey MZO
Thanks
IRRITATING bug indeed, I cannot believe this is not corrected in a nightly! (what is the actual solution please?)
I can report it works on the latest trltexx (SM-N910F, Note 4)
Thanks

Yeah, the actual solution is a missing library actually. It's not built in CM or any custom ROM, I'd include the lib in my builds tho.
Sent from my FIND7 using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks again MZO
What is the missing lib then, libjn_latinime.so?
I looked into it, and I read at some point that it had been renamed to libjn_latinimegoogle.so...
thanks

2 Years later still Keyboard Swipe Problem
It's over 2 years now and this problem still appears.
I'm using an otherwise great custom ROM but the AOSP keyboard Gesture/Swipe function isn't working although it's shown.
I tried flashing this zip solution with TWRP 3.0 but the flash failed. Any ideas how to get this working? Should this zip solution still work?

Hi
I use the script but with lib64. And I can swype :good:
You have to create a lib64 folder and put the last version of the file. (Open a ROM file or gapps and take the last one)
And you have to edit the updater-script with lib64 folder.

Would the binary file still work? I am asking because it is 32 bit executable: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, ARM, EABI5 version 1 (SYSV), statically linked, stripped but I am not sure how to get it for arm64. (I have a S7 btw, and the absence of swipe-typing is a big issue.)
