[Q] Bad wi-fi on CM 6.1.0 RC1 and RC2 - HTC Aria Android Development

Anyone noticed that wi-fi signals are worse on CM than Liberated?
I got 1 bar when I flash CM (and I had to try few times to open web pages or market app infos etc.), while I had full on Liberated. Any ideas?
UPDATE: Seems like same when I use wifi analyzer, -even better results on CM-. But I still cant open pages properly (I need to click several times on a link, or when searching in market, every time a network error is occuring and I have to try few times for results) on CM. There is no problem in Liberated. Wifi analyzer screenshots:

As you can see, CM RC finds a lot of more wifi spots, maybe slightly better wifi signal. But still internet sux in real life. Liberated and CM 6.0.2.1 is just OK.
-Didn't installed any 3rd party app except wifi analyzer.-
-Tested many times and putted best result that I received.-
The network name that i use is "lol". Which is using WPA/WPA2 PSK encryption.

The bars tend to be off sometimes. Try the nightly roms.

Don't look at bars, look at the signal strength in dBm.

I agree. Bars really dont mean anything. They are calibrated differently with various releases. In one of the threads in this section there was a post talking about on one of the releases that 1 bar was actually around %60 signal strength, and on other roms/releases 1 bar would equal roughly %25 signal strength.
But on another note, did you do the normal procedures when you flashed CM6 RC1? Clear cache, wipe data/system, and dalvik? If not, that might help.

As I said that I had to click several times to open web pages or weather info etc. properly, its not just "bars" I guess.
P.S: I cleared cache and wiped data. Still trying and still same. I just downloaded ~170 MB file on Liberated with 300 kb/s, while downloaded 3 mb file with 4 retries hardly on CM (both same server).
I wanna use CM Just wanted to know that if there is a known bug about wi-fi. Think I am going to give Nightlies a try and report back.

I wouldn't bother with the nightlies. Just use what's posted on page 1. Did you check the signal strength? Try another wireless network? I wouldn't rule it out to your device and ROM necessarily just yet. This ROM is working for hundreds of others flawlessly.
Oh, FYI:
I'm guessing you're coming from Liberated, right? Wipe that sucker clean before installing CM6. Not just wipe cache, FULL WIPE!

Thanks for the advise, I did fullf***ingwipe though Actually I am too lazy to flash again to check signal strenght because: Well, I will say it again; There was noticeable breakdown on net quality, I couldnt open pages normally, couldnt explore market at all. Had to try -tap several times, restart market etc.-
I know hundreds is using it without any problem -and I dont blame ROM since best ROM I have ever used-, I just wanted to be sure if there is a bug, or something unknown just in case.

I'm having problems with my home wifi using CM 6.1 rc1 also. I'm sitting 5 feet from the wireless N router and have had no problems using my stock Aria before. Now I get constant "There has been a Network Error - Retry?" messages. App update downloads just sit there on "Starting Download..." for minutes before finally downloading.
Hmmm... this could be a problem.

I had similar problems using RC1. Switched to the newest nightly, and it has been behaving better. Seems I had much better luck / connections / speed on RC0.

Are you installing any 3rd party apps? Did you test it on a completely fresh (after full wipe) install of CM6 bone stock with nothing else installed?
And, did you also test on a different network? Try changing your router's channel. Use Wifi Analyzer to check the surrounding area for interference.
I'm getting 65mbps connections, and with speedtest.net I'm able to get 9mbit down speeds through my cable company on my phone. (desktop get's 20mbit!).

ok I got same result here.
in most case I'm ok with the wifi.
But tried on 2 public wifi where the wifi signal was not perfect, I compare with the iphone and mine, when iphone still connect normal, about 50-60% (but some of them load slowly but it's browser problem), I got frequent disconnect.
I remember I have no this issue before in same area.
Only can confirm both have 3G & data disabled, cache cleared, I know I should compare with same phone.
I will got a wifi analyser and compare with stock rom later to have a more comparative result..

I just rooted yesterday for the first time and installed CM 6.1 rc1 and noticed the wifi problem right away. I was also getting great connection and speed tests on the stock rom prior to that. I'm sitting 5 feet from the router and had already used Wifi Analyzer to verify that my router has the only decent connection in range. A few others show up on the radar, but they're all far away and low power.

Yea same here. I don't understand how some are having issues. All the devices SHOULD be made exactly the same therefore the roms should behave exactly the same from one device to the next. I'd check with wifi analyzer and see what that displays.
Edit:
I'm running RC1.

Don't think CM6 RC0 is the same as CM6.1 RC1 are the same rom...

There may be a bug that only affects particular routers and/or router configurations. It might be helpful if someone who is experiencing the problem has a chance to try it on a different wifi connection to see if it still happens.

I've got a TP Link Wireless N 300mbit router running WPA2 PSK encryption.

Still exactly the same at RC2. Still trying to download gapps for market and will download wifi analyzer (I have no USB cable here so I must download it by phone). I downloaded in a few seconds with liberty and now im waiting since 15 mins and it is 9% on RC2 (gapps.zip). Really so weird. There is a problem I am sure. Will post screenshots if I can figure out to download screenshot app and wifi analyzer app on this ROM.
P.S: Okay, seems like same (even better results in CM6.1 RC2). CM finds more wifi spots, has slightly better signal but still I cant open web pages and cant use net properly on CM. Any ideas?

There will always be variances in user experiences. Users and their phones don't exist in a vacuum, and phones don't live carbon copy lives of each other.
Just the way it goes.

Now that RC2 has been released have you given that a try to see if the wifi performance has improved?

[APP]Quick Wifi Switcher (now with widgets and Eclair support)

Quick WiFi Switcher is an app to quickly switch between your (configured) APs.
This is useful, when you're in an area where more than one configured AP is available. Sometimes Android decides to switch between them for different (unknown to me) reasons. Reconnection to the AP of your choice is now fewer clicks away than through the settings.
You start it by long-pressing your search button, or via shortcut.
Info shown on top:
Current SSID
Current IP
Current Signal (bar and RSSI)
In the selection list you have the following info:
SSID
Signal strength (Icon and RSSI)
Encryption settings
Configuration state (Green -> configured, Red -> unconfigured)
Connection state (connected AP is selected in the list)
The list contains all discoverable APs in range.
The following functions are implemented to date:
Enable/Disable WiFI
Scan for surrounding APs (automatically on startup / manually via button)
Connect to previously configured AP
Reconnect current AP
Open WiFi Settings for unconfigured APs (for now)
User Setting for closing on selection
Widgets
There are two widgets implemented for now:
Info Widget (1x2)
Switcher Widget (1x1)
The Info Widget shows information about the currently connected network:
SSID
IP-Address
signal level (RSSI and Icon)
For the Switcher Widget you have to choose a configured network. This will be monitored. Whenever the system scans for APs, the widget will update itself with the current info about the chosen network.
A network in range has a signal level icon
If the network is the current one, the text will be gray, else red
Touching the widget will automatically connect to the chosen AP

Hi,
I'd really appreciate any feedback.
Tell me what you think, what you like/dislike and what is missing...

I would really love tasker integration. I have 2 wireless networks at home, a public one, and a backup one. I have to remember to switch ssid at night so the phone can do it's rsync thing. Programatically selecting the right said at the right time would be hugely beneficial.
Hi,
looks nice.
What do you think about checking every configurable seconds if a better known Wifi is available and switch then automatically?
Have 2 routers at home, android does not switch automatically even if its the same ssid. Tried with different ssid too, android doesnt switch. You have to manually reconnect, then it takes the better one.
just DL'ed your apk-file, upon install, it says (in details view of app manager): Could not open as apk file.
When I click your QR code link in the topic, there's nothing there either...

Nice app..just what I was looking for. As for my two cents, I think it would be great to create widgets assigned to particular ssids that can be shown on the home screen. This would prove to be a quick way to select the ssids.

Did you try to d/l from my site? I just downloaded and everything was fine. The QR-Code is not from me, but the new killer feature of xda. Please report if d/l from my site worked. We'll have to find another way if it does not. BTW I sometimes face the issue that I'm not able to open apk's from the browser download notification, but only from a file explorer (but that may be my ROM). Did not find out a pattern in this though.
@all: Thanks for the feedback. Good to see that there is demand and the needed functions are mainly those I initially thougth of.

Good work mate, im not near Wi-Fi so cant test right now but will tomorrow hopefullly,im using Galaxy S2.
This is exactly what I need.
I have 2 routers at home too and I can be sitting 2 feet from one but my phone still hangs on to the weaker of the two.
As mentioned above it would be great if it could be configured to switch to the strongest authorised access point automatically.
Downloading now and will report my findings.
OK. Problems here.
Desire S, S-Off, Rooted, running Virtuous Unity 1.29.
First issue I noticed was that as soon as I installed it I couldn't access any of my access points in the house.
It was finding them but wouldn't connect even if was sitting right beside it.
The next problem I had was constant forced closures. Almost every app that I opened would force close.
Now I understand that both of these could[/c] be rom issues, since this is a new revision, but seeing as both happened right after installing your app I suspect it's not.
Both of these issues happened as soon as I used you app.

Wow, that sounds bad. Could you send me a logcat of when this happens. I can't really imagine any function of the app cause such trouble, but I will look into it, why it would not connect.
The force closes cannot come from the app, since it does nothing to the system aside scanning wifi APs and connecting to them. Maybe it's really ROM related.

First of all, what device are you using.
Second, the app has a min sdk level of 8, so Froyo is required, will update first post to reflect that. I 'll see if I can get it running on Eclair.

OK, for some reason the app seems top have changed my wireless security on the phone to WPA instead of WEP, so the phone was trying to connect with the wrong security protocol.
Managed to sort that out pretty easily once I knew what was wrong.
I still had terrible problems with FCing apps so resorted to reflashing my rom.
I'm going to give it another try and if I encounter any issues I'll let you know what happens and post a log.
OK, here is a little update.
Since I reflashed my rom and reinstalled the app it has worked fine.
Only 1 minor bug but it wan't a problem.
On a few occasions when I used it yesterday, rather than opening the app GUI when pressed, it took me straight to the android wifi configuration page.
It only happened on a few occasions and hasn't happened at all today but I thought that you should know. Didn't bother me but someone will surely have issues with it.
Anyway, thanks for a great addition to my Desire S

Good to hear your Rom is working correctly again.
For the error you got: Did you start the app via search key? I could imagine since the desire s has no hardware buttons you accidently selected an unknown AP, immediately after the app started.
Would you be so kind and try and verify that?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
No, I have it on my home page so that if I need to change AP I just press my home button to get to it.
My wifi only picks up my 2 APs and none of my neighbours so no chance of selecting an unknown AP.
As I said it only happened a few times and hasn't happened since. It's working great now.
I don't know if, because I let my phone fully discharge yesterday after it happened, that it may have reset the app. A sort of reboot.
It has been working fine since though.
I've yet to try it with public wifi but should get a chance at the weekend so will post my results for you.

Gold_C DFT Error reporting

Hey all;
I saw some DFT clutter on some other ROM threads. It was suggested to make a new thread. I have permission from Mwang to make an error reporting thread so... here it is. Also... for all those who don't have DFT's ROM for the Gold_C you can PM Mwang for download instructions. I am working on getting permission to put links and dl instructions on this thread as well so look for updates. Thank you.
Has a newer version of the DFT rom for GOLD_C been released? One major bug is that wifi mac address changes with every reboot.
Still a badass rom!

-Some programs you cant see well unless you have the theme on dark, I think I read somewhere that it was a common bug in his wp7 roms.
-Maybe not a bug but an issue (If Mwang used sprints rom as a base) the sms bug that limits you to 160 characters per text is present like in the sprint rom
It is soo much better than the the official sprint rom tho
I have been having data connection issues. I will have full service and my data connection on and apps will say I have no connection. I have tried to update my network connection and prl and this continues to be an issue. For whatever reason I can usually go into internet explorer and go to a website and that will work and then return to an app I was having issues with and then the connection works. Seems really strange to me. Anybody else else having similar problems? Any solutions out there?

I can't connect with zune anymore. Two hard resets and two reflashes later my phone is still not recognized by zune software.
I've been having issues sending MMS quite often. To fix it every time I have to go to Settings -> Cellular -> Change Network Profile & Change PRL. That and I have had a handful of random freezes occur all while in the Messaging Hub.

I have had something similar, although I've found that the internet is working still but incredibly slow, even when connected to Wi-fi, it seems like even with Wi-fi on, the phone prefers to use the network connection. I've found that turning on airplane mode and then using Wi-fi makes the internet work fine and quick, but with both on it seems to go much slower (but not always). Other than that it seems to be working fine
HTC Arrive ROM ???/Issues
I love this ROM, much better then stock but when I am on a call and the computer voice says" press 1 for xxx press 2 for yyy" I press the buttons but the system doesn;t respond like I didn't press anything at all. Also the Speaker volume seems to be 1/2 as loud. Last but not least is there a GPS program I can d/l? I used navigator all the time but since this ROM doesn't come with it I don't know what to use.
Thanks for your time!

you can search for "TeleNav" in the market, "Waze" in the Bazaar, or you can search online for "Nokia Drive" xap where you would have to deploy from your computer. I'm not going to link to the Nokia Drive as I don't know how legal it is to do so.

If you didn't yet, try a hard reset. That solved all my issues. I should have remembered that from the TP2 days...
I too am having issues with the internet speeds. My phone is constantly going into 1x. i can have full bars and it still goes 1x. even with Wifi on the phone still tries to use the cellular data and if that says 1x well its slow as hell. I have re flashed the rom and also done hard resets a few times, it didn't fix it for me, i mean it works great for a little while than the same problems persist.
According to what people are saying in ansar rom, it has the same problem with the connectivity. Hopefully there will be an update to fix this.
Another bug is that picture mail fails 95% of the time. i found that if you switch wifi off and than do a reset it usually works for a few times.
I wonder if we can fix our DATA issue if we input the APN settings into the rom. I used to run droid on my tp2 and we had to configure the APN for things to work as expected. I have searched around google and such and cannot find any working APN settings. Does anyone know of any that will work or have tried it?
Hey guys first off happy Easter to everyone! Secondly, I think I might have found a workaround for the WiFi cutting out on DFT sprint rom for the arrive. If you are on this rom and you have sprint well than you probably noticed the phone always going into 1x and than the WiFi taking forever to load. I had seen a post about shutting off cellular data and that was suppose to help. Well, I tried that and it worked for a little bit but than it stopped.
What I found is that if you change the network setting from automatic to home only that the WiFi no longer cuts out. The phone still says 1x but my WiFi hasn't cut one time and beforehand it was constantly working slow and or not working at all. Also, every picture mail that I have tried to send has went through without a single fail which it was a real pain in the butt to get one to send before. I haven't done too much testing as to whether the phone works better when not in WiFi but since I'm always in the office or at home, I'm always connected. But at least now it's working much much better!
Reg Settings for EVDO (3g is slow)
I have, like others, had similar issues. Also, after updating to the rom i noticed that the 3G speeds have dropped significantly (WIFI off).
I am clocking in at ~300k as opposed to 1.2Mb before even though the phone has 5 bars and EV.
I am not sure if this will provide any insight, or if I am even on the right track/know what i am talkin about, but if i browse the registry to
"HKLM\Comm\Cellular\DataSpeed"
There are settings for only 1xEVDO. Is this right?
What about EVDO rev A?
Thanks in advance for any input!

whatsapp messages delayed only on my home wifi

hello im having a big probelm and need help!
i tried many things to do and nothing works.
Let me explain all the things I've learned. First of all, the problem only occurs on my home wireless network and not at other locations. Sometimes whem someone wants to send me a message I get it delayied between two to 30 minutes. This does not happen when I'm a regular Internet connection. In addition, when i open the app it takes it about 30 seconds to connect and to start sending the messages i tayped message (message waiting with a form of alarm).
I checked the problem in six different phones and it occurs on evrey android that i tried (S2 S3), but not on iphones.
I redefined the home network, I changed my router and modem and still nothing has changed (but not the companies that give me this servises)
All Android-based mobile I use experienced this problem so there is no issue with the device itself or the application download.
help me becuse i am getting crazyyyyyyyyy

Given the scenario you have given;-
1) Your phone works fine for WhatsApp everywhere else
2) Other phones have problems with WhatsApp at your home
3) You've changed the network, router and modem
There is only one possible cause - your ISP must be throttling the WhatsApp data stream for some reason.
You didn't say what happens if you use your device on a different wifi network.

I took that to mean it worked fine on other WiFi networks. Maybe I shouldn't have made that assumption.

If all the other statements are correct then the only thing left which could cause the problem is his ISP - whether it is deliberate throttling or not is a different matter.
didnt work
i changed the company, which is my isp, to another one yestarday - didnt work
the thing is that i noticed that it is not only whatsapp that delayed, but evrey app - facebook email.......
so the problem is not specific with whatsapp, but the all push serives
on over networks he works fine, when i had an iphone (until 3 weeks ago) this never happend
i dont know what to d' and im geting crazyyyyyy

I'm still trying to understand exactly when this happens. Do you get this problem with delays on other WiFi networks?

no only at my homenetwork
It's clearly a networking issue, and my prime suspect is your router's settings.
Do this for a trial: Completely erase all settings in your router (hold down the reset button for 10 seconds, or whatever). Then do just the bare minimum setup in the router's settings, no password, no IP reservation, no port forwarding, no nothing. Then, see if the problem persists.

Yeah, something's fishy. I'm guessing he swapped his physical router for another one, but set up all kinds of routing features which are messing with his phone.
If he comes back and says he's only got 1 computer and 1 phone, and never changed any settings but the SSID and added WPA, then I'm out of ideas.

hi
first of all i didnt do any configuring with the router exepat a pasword
at first i used what the company calles a HOTBOks (the name of the internet company is hot) it is a a device which is a phone line + modem + router
i thougt maybe the problem came from there, so i canceld the built in wiifii any did it "private" by conacting to a EDIMAX router - only put the CD install ps and thats it - didnt work
i changed the ISP for my home - still didnt work....
at my gf house, she has the same hotbok and no problems whatsoever.....
Take your hotboks or router to your girlfriend's house, and see if your phone works there. If not, then the problem is in your house/router.
i dont think it is posibble to do that......
i have no idea what to do - only going back to the very limited world of iphone bahhhh
My money's on your gateway/router being the source of the problem.

WiFi connectivity issues

Just received my Nexus 5 today and I'm noticing some strange connectivity issues while on WiFi. Some apps would complain network is unavailable, Facebook would load with no pictures, etc. This happens randomly, sometimes after few minutes others - an hour(s). Rebooting the phone or even cycling WiFi off/on usually recovers it, until it happens again. Cellular data works fine all the time. It can't be the WiFi network I'm connecting to as I have a myriad of devices that have worked and continue working without any problems.
I tried 3 other WiFi networks (different routers) with different configurations of encryption as well no encryption, switching between 5GHz, 2.4GHz, no matter what, problem occurs sooner or later.
Noticed on Google support forums few users describing exactly the same issue, surprised I didn't find reports here on XDA. Maybe not many people got their phones yet.
Anyone else getting the same "treatment" from their new Nexus 5?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I am seeing exactly the same thing. Wifi will work great, then all of a sudden, nothing. Stays that way for a couple of minutes, then all of a sudden it works again.
How many bars does the sifi icon show ?
Number of bars doesn't matter. I can have full bars sitting a meter from the router and issue would happen anyways.
I tried playing with WiFi optimizations in advanced settings to no avail unfortunately. Hopefully this is a bug that Google can quickly fix with a software update

Same here. Got my N5 yesterday and experienced the same at home. Same for my brother.
Hope that gets clarified soon. Not the nicest feeling having a new phone with that (or any) kind of issue...
Yes, my N5 started doing the same on my home wifi connections (using Apple's Airport Extreme 2.4/5GHz router).
The Playstore or Youtube apps would not display images or take forever. When I switched wifi off those apps worked fine.
I got it working again when I "forgot" my wifi setting for the 2.4 and 5Ghz channels then reconnected to the 2.4. I'll let that run for a day or so then try activating the 5Ghz.
Hmmm... This may have been what was going on here...

Is it similar to the issue I described?

I usually don't have connection issues outright, but do have issues reconnecting. However I did notice I list connection overnight after I went to bed.

Nah. Its no connection issue. We can connect easily and have full signal bars, but still no connection randomly for a couple of minutes.

Hmm - no I don't think that's the one. Phone connects fine, just over time randomly does this thing with the connectivity issues.
--EDIT
OOPs my mistake...
I looked in Setting/Wifi/Advanced ...
I turned OFF "Avoid Poor Connections"
and everything seems to work the way i want ( when i tell it to go to Wifi, it does that )
--EDIT end
i added star to this issue because of same problem . If enough stars get added Google may get on it.
(Didn't know if I should create a new thread for this as it is a wifi issue but seems to be soemthing different than what the OP decribed, my issues are related only to playstore app downloading)
I too am having terrible wifi issues on my new Nexus 5. But mine are different from those described here I think. Whenever I cycle through the wifi, turn it off and on again it doesn't fix the problem (not temporarily and ofc not permanently)
When browsing the web, the play store and mostly everything it works great and is very fast, BUT when downloading or updating an app the wifi speed is practically non-existant.
Sometimes showing that it will take 25 hours to download a 25mb app :S
This while my Galaxy Nexus on the same wifi network is as speedy as ever.
I have tried factory resetting my Nexus 5, I have cleared the cache and data of the play services app and of the play store app, I have tried changing the wifi bands (from auto, to 5 to 2.4 and back to auto), I have turned off the wifi optimization, but none of those things helped. I even tried some DNS HSPC wifi settings thingy I read here
That didn;t help either.
I have unplugged my router and replugged it in but that didn't help either.
I literally had to leave my brand new Nexus 5 downloading all night just so that it could install the apps I wanted on it. So far for playing around with the phone on day 1
What makes it even weirder is that occasionaly the wifi issues resolve itself and I can get good download speeds for several seconds or sometimes up to a few minutes, but then right after it is straight back to crap speeds. Some other reported that only while making a portion of the map available offline in Google Maps their app download speeds were great, but that didn't work for me either.
I don't know what to do and if it is a hardware issue or a software issue. Please help me.
Below some info that might be useful to helping me solve this.
White Nexus 5 32GB
Bought from US play store
Shipped to and using it in the Netherlands
Currently does not have a SIM card inside (that is still in my Galaxy Nexus till the wifi issues are resolved)
Unrooted, only installed the mandatory update during the setup
All apps downloaded are apps that are also on my Galaxy Nexus which works without a hitch
Any and all suggestions/ideas/help are welcome
I think the problem somehow related to DNS. I found that if I configure static IP settings and point DNS to Google's instead router's, things work normally. I reconfigured my router to advertise 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as DNS servers for the DHCP and now for over 24 hours I haven't experienced the disconnection issue.
If your router cannot be reconfigured, try assigning static IP settings and Google's DNS to see if it helps.
I still believe that's a software bug on the phone, we can't blame a device (the router) that has worked for years and works fine with everything else but the Nexus 5, being at fault.

I currently can't reconnect to my Wi-Fi at home as it's stuck showing the last scan I did some 40 miles away at a shopping centre earlier today.
Of course none of these networks are now present, yet all mine are shown as not found!
Guessing a reboot will fix it as toggling Wi-Fi didn't. Mobile data is working fine.

Not as tech as I want to be, so could you explain to me what the difference is in setting the DNS to Google's instead of routers? I have no idea what DNS is/does so what happens when you point it soemwhere else?

DNS stands for Domain Name Service. What it basically does is to translate those easy to remember names such as www.Google.com to the actual numeric address (also called IP address) of the server that serves that site on the Internet. Home routers almost always sport built-in DNS service to speed up name translation requests from internal devices. What I figured is going on on the nexus 5 is it "doesn't seem to like" some DNS servers. Works fine with some, doesn't with others. What happens is at one point, for whatever reason, it stops being able to translate names to addresses and as result "decides" there is no working connection as it fails to connect to the corresponding servers. Google hosts publicly available DNS servers with the easy to remember IP addresses of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 which apparently Nexus 5 doesn't have problem working with. Once it gets "instructed" to use them instead router's, everything works fine.
At least that's what I figured is going on so far.

BTW, just found one small and very useful app that can display information about WiFi connection as well as DNS servers associated to it.

Thanks, but that wouldn't fix my issue right, because it doesn't explain why only play store downloads are terribly slow while the rest works fine.
Gave it a shot and at first it seemed to work, but after a short while the problem re-arose
DNS has nothing to do with weak or lost WIFI connections...
You can be perfectly connected, at full n speed to a WIFI AP without getting proper acces to Internet : THIS can DNS isue.
But in no way a DNS isue can leads to lost or very weak WIFI signal.
2 solutions are possible with Nexus 5 :
- WIFI module has the same badly coded shape as camera one...
- its hardware related wich, no need to say, could be the worst case...
I am having the same issue since day one. In fact it just occurred as I was replying to this thread. Mostly occurs when the phone comes out of sleep mode. However it will occur often and at random.

[Q] Google Play Store WiFi download super-duper slow

Hi guys, I just done resetting my OPO to everything stock 44S, but when I tried downloading and install back my apps, it was ridiculously slow while downloading the apps. I checked my net is performing perfectly at 20Mbps, but Playstore download apps at 50-100Kbps I was like WTF??? I tried change DNS doesn't work either, but on mobile data is super fast, just like normal just WiFi. I tried my second phone WiFi also slow like hell but watch youtube etc is smooth. Is it possible Google side problem or my ISP problem?
If everything else works fine I would guess it's a Google problem. Or the routing to your place isn't that good? Are you using a VPN?

I was thinking the same thing. I got my OPO last Friday and I've been flashing roms all weekend. I also noticed that the Play Store download speed was ridiculously slow on wifi and LTE. I have AT&T and I also flashed Ark kernel. After about 2-3 hours, no matter what rom I was on, the Play Store apps sped up. I thought my issue had something to do with me going from 11S to 11 to 12 all weekend. (I had to find what worked for me) But it seems that irrespective of the kernel, cm version, and gapps I was using, the dl speed just popped back in gear after time.
Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance but my only solution was time. How long have you let your phone idle?

I think idle time doesn't matter, okay.... I tried with my friend's phone, it's also same, very very slow download speed, so must be Google side...
Like what others have said. If you had another device and play store downloads was also slow. Your home isp probably bad poor routing to the servers causing it to lag.
Some other tips. Disable wifi optimization if you haven't. Toggle wifi on and off and then try a download again. Restart your modem and router.

You can test the speed with a normal dl from a fast Server, bunt i think it was a Google Problem
Sind from my One+ with TapaTalk
I just did some updates to my apps
Some apps download at 1.5MB/s others at 300KB/s lol it's a Google issue I'm concluding
