The update notification just popped up on my tablet and when i tapped on it this is what I saw....

EDIT: Update unsuccessful. Tried manually checking for updates and it said I am up to date with 2638. Guess they were just testing the deployment.

I did the same thing as you but manually, and I got the same thing! I think the guys at viewsonic was testing the update app and what not to see if it would pick up information so that it will either automatically download this new update or manually allow the user to update it. I like there test msg information "Blah Blah". Now when I check it says you have updated software, guess at midnight we will see!!!!

At least it's being tested. I half expect them to delay this again.

Haha, that's awesome. From a dev standpoint, I understand where those "blah blah" sort of test messages come from.. Now, the fact that they tested it live in production with that message..

they're testing the distribution of the update. thats a good sign.
has anyone given them a call yet today?

And Pocketgear hasn't updated their website to reflect Viewsonic as a selectable device.

I'm trying to hold out from calling them for at least a few hours --
I think they have my phone number listed on their wall.... "don't answer if this guy calls!"

At least one person here got svn #13 on Thursday night. That tells me that they have no UAT environment, they test live in production as you mentioned.

I haven't got anything yet. I'm connected to wifi at startup and this is what it says:

I have not modified it yet.
5 minutes after I posted this, I clicked on the Tap UI and it started to update for about a minute but then got an error saying network unavailable even though I was connected. Could it be their network it was referring too?

I just picked my g tab up this past weekend. It is still stock as I heard there was an update coming and wanted to wait to see what it would be.
I powered the device on today and the first time it connected via the tap download app. It looked as if it was preparing to download then my wife would cut out and there would be an error saying it attempted the max 3 times. I reset the device and wife and tried again, this time said it was up to date.
Called G tab support and they had me do a factory reset (no biggie, nothing saved yet) and then had me switch the wifi sleep to never and display timeout to never. Tried again and got same error. They said this has been happening and that it may take some time today for it to go through correctly. Just an update

Getting the same max try error as the poster above. If someone gets it, (pretty) please post the update.zip file (assuming that's what it is) that you get.

If it's anything like the last update, I don't think there will be an update.zip to get. You just get a notice that it's available, click on download, install it, and reboot.
I'm not getting any feedback. I click on Tap UI update and it just tells me it's up to date.

Yeah, but it has to download something, so we're wondering what the actual process is.
My guess is that it pushes down an update.zip, does a checksum at the end to ensure its not corrupt, then reboots you into recovery to run it (and probably delete it at the end). Again, just a guess.

I agree. I just don't recall finding anything on mine during the last update. Over course, I was in the process of a couple different mods after, since it didn't really fix anything for me, and I could have easily overlooked it. I'll pay more attention this time for sure.

sidebar: I'm sure at some point the Pocketgear store will require some sort of registration. So I went ahead and registered an account so that much was already setup when I do finally get the update. Viewsonic is still not listed as a supported device though.

Okay I spoke to CS (not too crappy relatively speaking) and they were not helpful. The CS rep said they do not plan on posting any file for manual updates. He suggested I just keep trying (sigh). I asked him to please post the file, he said there was discussion with devs re this issue.
I asked him about a changelog and he said there would be: a new new UI update program (yeah), some new apps like facebook and kindle, fixes to weather/news and time (real yeah!), app program for "Handango" (interesting change there), and perhaps some other tidbits. I asked him to please post that somewhere so I could refer back to it. He said he would look into it.

allegedly it is going out and some units have already gotten it - at least as per CS. As to how the TnT updater decides on which devices need it, I don't know.

If anyone actually gets this update, please advise the group. So far I've seen zip -- nada -- nothing.
EDIT: I know CS is probably watching this thread - you'll be getting a call at 5PM ET if my device is not updated, and this time I'm not going to be a happy customer. Please get these TnT developers to push this out already, we've been waiting since Friday.

I didn't bring the G to work. I'll probably flash back to stock tonight and see if I can get the update and see how big of an improvement it makes. I'm still deciding if I'm going to keep this or take it back...

Just fired my gtablet up about 1pm Central time. No update yet. I am 100% stock.

While the graphics are really nice, this weather app is lamer than lame, particularly since the "More Details Online" link goes to a dead URL at Accuweather! And if you try that URL on a desktop PC, it is verified as bad...
Makes me feel like a fool when a friend who has an iPhone checks it out and sees the dead link. Ohh, impressive... especially when they have the awesome Weather Channel app that plays video and everything...
Anyone know how to tweak that URL in the XML file in Manila?

Mine does the dame thing too but when I use a difernet city such as Moscow it works fine. Seems like only the Northamerica citys are a dead link
Someone must know what file can be edited for that! I'd imagine the URL just needs tweaking - it's a standard URL which is plugging in the selected city in to the path...

Hardy har! I can't find a fix that relates to what this thread is about, to save my life! I always get a kick out of people lambasting first-time posters when they ask a question and someone will say "did you search?" because that is easier said than done, particularly in enormous forums such as this!
I tried searching for "More details Online" and it said it was going to ignore the word "More" because it was too common. So searching for "Details" and "Online" brought up threads that had nothing to do with what I wanted, even when narrowing down the search to just the Diamond or the Touch Pro forums. And if I searched for "weather" (and a combination of options such as "issue" "online" etc), I came upon several threads where people were discussing the Weather Tab not updating period (no info whatsoever), but thus far I have not found one post that had to do with the issue of tapping on "More Details Online" and having it take the user to a dead AccuWeather page.
I will keep looking, but it's frustrating - I simply can't believe this is not easily found as seeing a current "What the heck?" type of thread related to the TP2 and the non-functional link! Not here or at PPCG or several other forums I have checked!

A quick look through the registry couldn't find anything. I think I will just forget about it. We will be getting some new roms soon.

Sometimes, refreshing the page in the browser will "fix" the problem and allow the page to be displayed ... not a great fix, I know ...

I didn't even have to hit refresh! I just launched Opera and went to the page!!!
Was definitely something on AccuWeather's end...

Don't get too excited ... that exact same thing happened to me the first time I set out to try this trick (which, in the interest of full disclosure, I'll admit that I learned by posting a question on a forum that Sprint manages). The second time I clicked on "more details online", it was back to the old way and I did have to refresh. I was as surprised as you the first time, when it worked properly without me having to hit refresh.
I have a friend who likes to joke about keeping a bucket of water next to his computer whenever it misbehaves, as a threat ... maybe this had the same effect
I suspect you are right that this is a problem on AccuWeather's end ...
Hmm.... mine works every time for each of the three cities I have selected. So, maybe it is a city specific problem.

I know what you posted above about just "search". I know I read this for my diamond with a definitive way to edit the weather link. I just never bookmarked it.
I just got my TP2 on verizon tonight, but haven't tried that yet. If I do find that it doesn't work, I'll be sure to post up!
I'm fighting the dreaded wifi + active sync not working, ugh. I'm trying to vpn in and sync to my work computer. wifi dies just as soon as I connect any winmo. Reports say AS 6.5 beta works... oh, other computer just booted, gotta run and play!
I just tried, and I still receive the "Error in/M Application" error. I tried the "reloading" trick, with no success. I did not try the bucket of water.

Did you do the setup when you started the phone?
I went back and changed my settings, it didn't say the city in (was it contacts or dialer?), it just said CDT, so I changed it to my city.
Then I ONLY tried right now, went right to accuweather.

So if you rely on the start/activation screen, you might have to change it, ugh, sorry, can't remember.
Again, this is a VZ phone!

I did go through the setup when I first turned on the phone. I also installed the conflipper north america weather database, as my city was not native to the phone.
I just looked for different settings in the contacts area, etc., and couldn't find anything set incorrectly. I then deleted my city, and added it back in, but still received that error, even after refreshing.
If this turns out to be the biggest problem with this phone, I can live with it!
I would like a weather app, though, that can integrate with TF3D, and also show more than the weather icons. As I've posted elsewhere, I want the forecast, in words.
Any ideas?

1. Download the new software to your PC.
2. Ensure ActiveSync 4.5 for computers using Windows XP or earlier or use Windows Mobile Device Center for computers using Vista and Windows 7 is installed on your PC. yes, this will reset your device to the new stock settings. everything will have to be reconfigured and reinstalled.
Are you noticing any change in screen sensitivity with this rom?
What is the spl version?
does anybody know if this ROM update will make some of my current ROM apps un-usuable
such as dafunks taskbar, CHT?

I read somewhere (I forgot where) that it was released for beta testing to a select group and it was simply leaked to the mass by pocketnow.com. I think I will wait until TMobile officially releases the update.

this fixes my sms issues! i posted more in the general forum though. i love this upgrade. i was curious though why it wasn't officially on tmoble or htc website. guess ill just check the rev when it does come out though and re mod my phone up again for the 50th time!
I called T-Mo tech support this morning regarding the ROM update. Here is what I was able to gather.
1. The ROM update has NOT been released by T-Mo. The release date is scheduled for the 22nd of May, But an inner office memo said it could be as early as the 18th.
2. Yes this will return your phone back to stock settings, and you will have to reinstall all mods done to the phone.
3. This fixes several issues including but not limited to.
a, SMS lag and locking up the phone.
b, Internet down loads stopping in mid transfer/locking up the phone.
c, over all stability and speed of the phone.
The 3 points above is all the tech could tell me. He did say that once the ROM is released to the public, they will have a "full list of fixes".
He also did say this. By installing the ROM onto your phone before the official release. You are voiding the insurance (if you have it) policy. He strongly suggested to not install it at this time unless "you are having issues with your phone, and you are directed by a T-Mo tech op to install it.
Thats all I was able to get from T-mo this morning.

I have not encountered any issues with cht 1.7.1 or chte 1.7.1.2 actually weather animations are snapper then before that I think I will leave them on now.
spl version is still 2.10.0000 and screen sensitivity good but i'm more impressed by a much better swype version.
My Tmobile Leo is unlock. Will the Rom update lock it back?
I downloaded the update yesterday, and I've gotta say that is has been nothing but great for me. I don't have anymore lock-ups, slow downs, texting works right now. Facebook, twitter, and the net all starts up, and runs smooth now. Last thing... weather animations no longer lag. It actually runs pretty fast now.

No, no change log. Also checked on AT&T's software update site and they don't have this new update listed yet. All they have is the one we got last month that updated AT&T's address book app.
Phone is rebooting now..
I don't see anything different right off the bat, but will report back if anything has changed/improved.
Follow the instructions here to block updates.
The thread is continually updated as users discover new files to block.

Yes, the software went from "e" to "g" with one update. It is normal during software development to not release every point release.
Change logs do get posted, but they are not very good and they are not timely (it may take a few days).
Wonder if I will get this since I use my h810 on tmo's network. I checked for update but it didn't find anything.

You can check for updates again by simply changing your date
Verizons 11A update had performance and touchscreen updates. Definitely feels faster and touchscreen feels more responsive.
Although my battery is at 30% where normally this time of the day is at 70%. And also my Qi Charger had my phone rebooting this morning.

Light L16 Firmware

Greetings! I recently rolled the dice on an eBay purchase for a Light L16 camera. The device appears to have had some serious OS problems/botched root/adb commands/I am honestly not quite sure what has gone wrong with it, but it is not even showing the OS as LightOS (the camera OS). I was wondering if any of you might have the firmware laying around somewhere, or any experience flashing these devices with AOSP/variants?
I wish I could help. I'm in the same boat with a recent eBay L16 purchase. The one I received appears to be one of the early Beta cameras. It does boot. But the firmware is really old, so the camera won't save any images. I was able to sideload Open Camera, but it just crashes. I'll keep on looking for some updated firmware/ OS. Unfortunately, I believe finding that is highly unlikely once Light stopped all work on the camera and the Nokia Pureview. No one who worked on the project is even associated with Light any longer. Will post anything I possibly locate.

I think I got enough information pulled from adb to maybe attempt a LineageOS port. Is your device missing a ton of system options as well? I'm having to hammer this thing through command line.
Yes, mine is missing many options, based on what I know of the camera software's evolution. I had purchased one of the early production cameras back in 2017; since sold it when Light got out of the business.
My unit has LightOS-1,2,2_1 and firmware 428992. The biggest issue for me is the format of the lri RAW files changed over time and can no longer be read by the current Lumen software (can't find the old versions), basically making the camera useless.
I'm not very technical when it comes to Android, so you'd be doing a great service if you can make any headway. Thanks.
I've also had this problem recently,,, and it looks like that Light have completely abandoned the maintenance and support for L16, but I think since light L16 is an Android based device, then if we can get access to the firmware for the later models we should possibly being able to try and flush it in. I really don't know much about Android though....Anyway, so I hope that someone can find a solution for this as I really have no clue about it.
I have a production, working L16 with latest software -- in addition to what I believe is one of the early beta units from eBay. I'm not experienced enough to attempt to pull the firmware and software from the working one; all the commercial solutions fail. They seem to require an application to be loaded to the camera, which doesn't work.
I'm more than willing to devote more effort, if someone has a reliable solution, and could post the files.
I'm in the same boat as y'all. I just received an L16 I bought off of eBay with LightOS version 1.3.0.3-057 and camera firmware version 0039C80D. When I try to update it in the settings app I just get a "You have the latest software, there is no new update available." message.
If someone had the final V1.3.4.1 update files that we could download that would be amazing.
Hello, I also recently bought one off eBay. Interestingly enough, my error when trying to update is 'failed to query software information'.
LightOS-1.3.2.5-098 and Camera firmware 00624245.
Kernel version 3.18.20-perf-g40a11f1, [email protected] #1, Thu, Jun 21 18:35:48 PDT 2018.

If you have the latest (last) version of the firmware (1.3.4.1) you should be able to 'enable unknown sources' in the settings (see more info here) and then install APKs via the browser. This way you can install any companion app needed to dump the firmware.
It would be awesome to get the latest version.

Reached out to Light on email and Twitter to see if we can get a offline update image/dump/apk.
Reached out to a few users on GitHub that owned L16 related repositorys to see if they still have their cameras and could create a firmware dump.
Had a look at the Android logs and can see that the updater is trying to reach out to this URL for an update: https://www.c2dms.com/api/v1/SWImage/SystemUpgrade
The website has shutdown by Google on July 30th, 2015, but before then the URL was changed to ota.c2dms anyway.

Better than nothing haha. I can always spin up a Mac VM on one of my servers if I don't find the Windows package.

I wish. I'm still stuck on version 1.3.0.6-083 (Late January 2018). I think others are on lower versions than that, but unfortunately I'm new to all this and don't know how to dump such things, or how useful it would be,

Does this prevent you from doing anything? Does the Lumen software not support the image format used by this firmware version?

Question Stuttering Issues on Just-Recived Red Magic Pro 7

Fired the phone up to find even the simplest games (Candy Crush!) freeze for a second over and over (audio, also) while playing, never mind even trying to load Genshin Impact. Reset twice and still the same. It even affects YouTube vidoes, hell, ANY video. Red Magic US Canada site is wonky and very difficult to get hold of someone or even a return form. Anyone else having this problem?

With gaming performance I don't have any issue and no stuttering at all. Are you running the game with game space switch on?
What is btw your software version here in Europe it's NX709J_EUcommon_V4.08
Yes, Game Space, everything. Even videos stall. I think I just got a bad one, but getting hold of soemone to return is a nightmare. Hmmm...my version is NX709J_UNcommon_V3.08 with no option to upgrade.

hmm kinda weird i hope they provide the full rom for Global version on the site. or maybe a update with some fixes but we already know that the software support on redmagic phones are bad.
I THINK I finally figured it out. Once you set everything up and update apps, there is ANOTHER prompt to Finish Setting Up Your RedMagic Pro 7. If you hit that, it really doesn't do anything other than says it's finishing up, and after it's done THAT's when the stuttering begins on videos and games. Unfortunately, the prompt keeps popping up daily, which you can dismiss but only for the day, as it rears its head the next day. Anyway, working fine now and I really like the phone. But beware, good luck getting anything other than canned responses from the Nubia support line. I kept insisting I wanted to return the phone and they kept asking additional questions about the make/model, etc. which was just going to continue until the 2-week return period was up. If anyone discovers a way to delete this prompt, please let me know.

Have you tried updating the phones the firmware on the site is newer version.
You can download the zip file on your phone and update the phone using the local software update mode.
Maybe you can clear the cache of the Google apps.
For me the Google play store system update is stuck on December update for now.
I've cleared the cache on just about everything. Stupid question, but where can I find the firmware version on my phone? I dont see it anywhere under About Phone

Go to system update and you will see the region and the version .
i had this same problem on my redmagic 7. I posted a youtube video that i had to show to the redmagic repair. I ended up sending it back for a refund and getting the redmagic 7 pro.
I finally figured it out, after the setup, it came back with a "Finish setting Up Your Phone" prompt, which caused the stuttering after reboot. There was nothing else to set up anyway, so I reinstalled, ignored the prompt and disabled the Android Set-Up function, buried somewhere deep. It worked and since the recent updates have had no problem whatsoever. Nubia help is awful they just keep repeating things and telling me they're working on it.

I've got the NX709J... running on
NX709J_UNCommon_V3.19 and I'm having same issue... Wasn't doing it on the previous version 3.17.. you can try updating using ADB.. work for me
