[ROM] Does anyone have a rom dump for VHA Desire HD?? - Desire HD Android Development

Does anyone have a backup or rom dump for the stock Vodafone Australia Desire HD ROM? If anyone could upload this and post it on the forum it would be a great back up for xda members from AUS.

Is there a way i can do it. I have the vha dhd. Is there a way I can dump my Rom

Follow the instructions on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841076
In recovery back up the rom then use a file manager like astro from market to place the back up on your sd card. Then were got to find a way to upload it so others can access it. Your gonna have to do a factory reset so your personal info is not included though before you back it up. Unless anyone has a better method?

Sorry I am a bit of a newb to htc and android. I went from owning a nokia 5800 to this awesome chunk of technology.
So really all i have to do is these steps after as I have already permarooted mine.
Time for next step!
2) Install engineering version of HBOOT to get S-Off
2.1) Download sfjuockr DHD script for flashing HBOOT from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...0&d=1289854953
2.2) Unzip it and copy it to Your SDCard (It's important that You have on Your SDCard root directory with name DHD and all files inside this directory.
(I have run into the strange problem for which I'm not sure is it problem with my PC or DHD, each time when I connected my DHD via USB cable my SDCard was automatically mounted as Disk Drive instead of just being in "Charge only" mode. I resolved this by removing back cover and ejecting SDCard and inserting it again while phone was operational, which is very unsafe thing to do!).
2.3) Run Terminal Emulator
2.4) Type su
2.5) Type "sh /sdcard/DHD/check
(Please be aware that You have to type "sh" in front of command)
2.6) If everything went OK type
sh /sdcard/DHD/backup
2.7) If this also went OK proceed with
sh /sdcard/DHD/hboot
This command will install engineering hboot which have S-Off turned off.
I hope I can help in some ways..
Just a quick question, Can I use any cooked rom on my phone or does it have to be a cooked VHA dhd rom.

You can use any. If its rooted it can be unrooted and returned to stock anyway.

I've just flashed my VHA DHD to a stock rom and having a backup would be real helpful encased I need to return under warranty. Looking forward to getting my hands on it.

I will give it a go in 2 days just busy at work at the moment, so I will try on my day off

I have a rip of the Vodafone Australia stock rom formatted to factory defaults. It should be uploaded within the hour. I will edit in a link in this post when it is up.
EDIT: Here is my release of the ROM, please let me know how it goes if you try it. Dumped from Clockwork Recovery. hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842722

How do I use a custom rom boot.

I would like it if someone could tell me how to get/use a custom rom boot cause I really want one and haven't the slightest idea cause I'm tired of seeing the sprint 4g start up lol.
Sent from HTC EVO 4G via xda app
Well if you are rooted, then go donwload one of the many custom boots on this site. Download the bootanimation.zip (and sound file if its included) to your phone. Then go grab a program like astro or root explorer and copy and paste the 2 files into /system/media. I've done it this way a few times and have never had a problem. Next time though you should use the search feature im pretty sure theres a whole thread dedicated to it.
I searched for help first but they didn't explain it the way you did. I'm going to try your method. I hope it works, I wonder if someone could make one for me..

Then you shouldn't be messing with your phone in the first place if you don't know at least ONE of those.
I haven't tried either, all I know is that one uses the computer and the other has something to do with terminal and a bunch of codes, which is easier and I rooted my phone just fine, I'm learning..

it all depends on what you have I have the evo with froyo 2.2 android on it and was told it cant be rooted but i followed a video on youtube and got mine rooted you don't actualy have to flash the whole rom to get a new animation booted... just root your phone depending on what you have... i used the unrevoked method follwing a youtube video of course with windows i had to install the hboot usb thing on my evo anyways i got it rooted and the unrevoked site is just one click i got the software from unrevoked dot com... download the unrevoked 3 for whatever operating system your running on your PC... hook it up to your PC watch the youtube video tutorials they will help... don't just watch one though i spent a whole 2 weeks reasearching everything i could to root it... just incase i failed i knew how to undo it from my research... the unrevoked method worked for me... and i havn't been limited to anything i got the free tethering got full premissions i have custom lock screen and boot screen.. anyways go to the site download that theres several other files you will need like the hbooter software if your rooting the evo.. i'm not giving a tutorial on this because i spent to much time myself and knowing what i know would take this whole website to type up. ok so
back to the boot screens.. the site unrevoked is just one click... litteraly start it up with the files all ready and it'll do the rest including rebooting your phone and loading into recovery everything, now you will not loose everything, i did the root and lost nothing but just incase because there is always the chance of errors... get an app called astro... to back up all of your installed apps and an app called MIQ to backup your contacts, calandar, notes, everything basicly on your phone besides apps... on a website create a profile to upload too and then get one more app called SMS backup to backup all of your text messages outbox and inbox and you can restore it all later if for anyreason something is lost.. these are all free apps... now after it roots your phone it will install the clock work rom or w.e. i guess it does flash your phone with a rom but its pretty much the same exact thing and when i did it i lost nothing everything was still installed. if you have the correct files on your computer in the C drive on the root of the C drive... the directory you should have for the files you need to download are "C:\android" and thats it.. anyways again just root the phone then download an app called boot animation changer lite....
with boot animation changer lite all you need to do is have a rooted phone.. scroll through what you like and preview them and if you want it then tap it and choose your screen for me on the evo i chose "480x800" i don't know if thats the wrong one or causes problems but it hasn't failed yet its working good and looks fantastic
I used the exact same way to root my phone, I too used a youtube video and did a lot of research before doing something crazy. I got the app your reffered to me and it worked pretty good (thank you!) But now I want to figure out how to use adb or how to push boot roms from this site onto my phone and 480x800 was the correct size..I think. Your help was very descriptive and I like that. So can anyone help describe the adb method and or the push method so I can learn how to use the boots from this site? Please and thank you in advance.

First - Do you have the EVO drivers, and the Android SDK installed on your computer? This is needed in order to utilize ADB.
If not:
ANDROID SDK
Some of the bootanimations have been made available in a flashable zip that you can install from recovery.
If you are talking about the ones that were installed during the root process under /android then yes, so how would I go about using that to install the boots?
Sent from HTC EVO 4G via xda app
OK then.
Place the bootanimation.zip, and (optional mp3 file)
Open a command prompt and cd to wherever you have your TOOLS folder in the SDK.
ex) cd c:/AndroidSDK/tools
Then you mount the device, and can push the files to your phone to this directory:
/system/customize/resource/
ex) :
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource/
adb push SPC_animation_final.mp3 /system/customize/resource/
Then simply reboot through adb:
adb reboot
NOTE: If the bootanimation you are switching to DOES NOT have sound then you need to remove the SPC_animation_final.mp3 from /system/customize/resource/

BEST Guide for Returning to Stock ! (Add to guide thread?)

Here are the directions and files used to fix this problem (do not type any of the "quotation marks"):
1. Download the .zip file from here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YUYEMJNM
and put it on the root of your sdcard. (Do not unzip the file). Then rename it to PD15IMG.zip .
2. Download the miscnew file to your computer (uploaded as attachment to this post). Unzip it and place the miscnew.img file that was in the zip onto the root of your sdcard. You can delete the .zip file after you do this.
3. Boot your phone up like normal and connect your phone to your computer.
4. Make sure your sdcard is NOT mounted (but make sure those 2 files were copied to your sdcard).
5. Go into adb and type "adb shell"
6. Then type, "su"
7. Then type, "dd if=/sdcard/miscnew.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17"
8. Once this is done after about 5 seconds, turn your phone off and unplug from the computer.
9. Once the phone is off, hold down the volume-down key and the power button until you arrive at the bootloader. Once there, the phone should automatically start checking that .zip file you downloaded to the root of your sdcard. After its done checking, it will ask you if you want to continue, and just follow the prompt to say "yes" and YOU'RE DONE!
This guide was made by travisjames and was just put into my own words. His guide was a derivative of Apache14's OTA and Radio downgrade guide for the T-Mobile G2.

Ignore/Wrong thread...
two questions-
if i used gfree, do i need to undo gfree 1st? (you make no mention of rooting techniques, and if this undoes all those or not)
second, my phone, about a month ago, lost data connectivity on the usb port-- in other words, it charges fine, but i can not get any computer to pick it up any more to transfer files are use adb, which is a royal pain. -- can i use terminal emulator to accomplish your commands, or am I SOL ?
thanks
Yes, you need to undo Gfree.
Yes, you can run the commands from Terminal Emulator.

thanks jack,
would the syntax be exactly the same as above via term em?
Yes, just skip the "adb shell" command.
Is this to undo 2.3.4 GB update and take it back to 2.2.1?
How do I undo gfree? And if I just run the pg15img will I keep root? I need a way to return to stock but rooted.

First question, Here is the thread you need to undo gfree (get s-on) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858996 (about half way down OP)
Second question, no you will not keep root
witch stock rom do you want rooted, stock 2.3.4 can not be rooted right now
So... to summarize, this would be to revert back to Android 2.3.4, sense 3.5 STOCK, without root, eng. hboot, or s=off.
In other words, if you purchased a MT4G now, or received a replacement MT4G with 2.3.4.... Following these steps will give you this new gingerbread stock state (approximately).
Please confirm. Thanks!

Yes...check the 3rd and 4th post of this thread....
Just curious, so if I flash this ROM in recovery, will I lose root, s-off, etc.?
What I'm trying to do is flash the phone to the MT4G stock rom (which I assume this is), use gfree to sim unlock it, then revert back to my nandroid backup, so I wanna make sure this will not interfere with my root access before I proceed to flashing it. Thanks in advance to whoever answers me~!

You don't need to type adb shell because you are on terminal emulator.
Just type su to gain superuser access.
Then type dd if=/sdcard/miscnew.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17
Make sure you have the file miscnew.img in the root of your sd card.
Absolutely Perfect
I have looked and looked all over both XDA and the Interent in general. I was trying to restore my Glacier (MyTouch 4g) from stock 2.3.4 to stock 2.2. NOTHING worked. It got to the point that I didn't even remember everything that I tried. I followed this guide to the T. PERFECT!!! I am now back to having my phone exactly how I left the Tmo store with it.

Sorry, a complete noob to "gfree". I'm a new convert to GSM as I was with SPrint CDMA for 10 years until a couple weeks ago. I've rooted Samsing phones but never an HTC.
Anyways, I just purchased a MyTouch that had been rooted and loaded with Virtuous ROM. It's for my wife and she wants it back to stock. I tried all your directions exactly but still will not work. I'm assuming it's this "gfree" issue. I followed the link to the other thread but it's not clear on exactly what I need to do in my situation.
When I run the bootloader, it says bad or no such image... I have confirmed I have PD15IMG.zip and miscnew.img in the sdcard root directory.
Can someone please show me in simplified terms. Thanks!

If you are new to this rooting stuffs, i suggest don't go with methods, that have potential to brick your phone.
Just do this simple method, Follow the link in my signature, you will see a Rooted version of the stock 2.3.4 rom.
Just flash the Rom through your recovery.........no big deal.......easy way to get the stock feel.....

[REQUEST] Guide on how to downgrade to lower firmware versions via Gold Card

Here's the thing: I have read the thread on how to downgrade ChaCha to a lower firmware version ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320392 ) but that guide seems to be outdated or just not clear enough for my newbie brain to understand.
- I already have a Gold Card. I created one via following other sources and it's a Kingston 4 GB microSD HC that I used to make it. Samsung's 2 GB micro SD HC wouldn't do it for me.
I have a problem with my ChaCha. For some reason, BusyBox seemed to have screwed up with the kernels or even the drivers of my ChaCha or some part of the system because even no matter how many times I reset to factory settings, I come up with a ChaCha that cannot obtain IP address from WiFi, cannot download or install apps from Android Market, and the anomaly during the beginning before I even resetted to factory settings is that Google Services Framework kept force closing, Search button wouldn't respond, Link2SD wouldn't recognize my secondary partition at my microSD HC, and Market was missing. So damn.
I have no Nandroid backup of a previously working state. My device is an HTC ChaCha Asia WWE version, bootloader unlocked with version 1.10.0000, CWM is flashed and working and is also rooted. S-ON.
I managed to get hold of Alex C.'s Nandroid backup of his ChaCha back in December, version 1.52 or 1.54? Anyway... Mine previously was 1.57.707.02. I am sure it is not a hardware issue because when I use Alex's Nandroid backup, I am able to use the WiFi but lose shell root for some reason.
So please... A clear guide on how to use the gold card to flash previous ROM versions please because RUUs just won't work for me and I am S-ON. Otherwise, I see no other way but to buy the XTC Clip, wait for a few months, and then use it to flash the original Asia WWE 1.57 RUU.
Anybody please?
Update: So I managed to obtain shell root via SuperOneClick 2.3.3. Downloaded it from shortfuse.org

Mkay, so.. For the RUU, you need to simply run it then tick the 'I understand the caution indicated above...' box, and click next.
At this point do not go any further.
Navigate to C:\Users\<yourUserName>\AppData\Local\Temp
C:\Users is for Windows 7
C:\Documents and Settings\ should be for Windows XP.
You should see one or two folders like this:
{719CE201-7B12-4A13-9AF6-8F359FE69C7B}
Go into the one with dotnetinstaller.exe in it.
Open up the next folder.
Copy rom.zip into another folder (outside of temp).
At this point just Cancel and quit out of the ROM Update Utility.
You can put this rom.zip on the SD card and flash it from CWM.

Thanks. Did this before and CWM said it could not open the package. I'm going to try this with my Gold Card and hope to God it works. Right now, I'm doing fairly well with the Nandroid backup you made and uploaded back on December. So my software is 1.54. Apps are working correctly and Android Market has been upgraded to Google Play. Link2SD is working as well and SuperOneClick rooted the whole thing for me.
I'm going to make Nandroid backup and try installing rom.zip via my Gold Card.

I wasen't be able to delete sys apps... but I decided to don't worry abou that... after a while my phone runs out of memory... so I've tried to partition my sd cart with rom manager pro... but it doesn't work... I thought it was a firmware problem so I've downloaded leedroid hd 3.3.3 and tryed to flash it on my device...
the result was that when I start the phone it shows the black screen whit the white lettering I don't know what's the name for... it's the screen where the phone makes that strange noises... aniway the screen runs over and over again non stop!!!
what can I do now? how can i repair to my faults?

What I meant was copy your entire memory card before trying to partition it,or loose everything in it.(including apps moved there)
To copy it just plug your phone into a comp ( my prefered method) and turn on USB. This is a bit of a worse situation, as you cannot flash system critical parts such as the recovery image and just restore a backup. This unfortunately means that you will lose all of your data when you attempt to fix the phone.
[STEP1]- Make sure that you have a goldcard. If not, create one from the tutorial.
[STEP2]- Battery pull. Hold the BACK button and the POWER button to boot into FASTBOOT mode.
[STEP3]- Download the latest WWE RUU from here
[STEP4]- Run the RUU and wait for completion WARNING: DO NOT, BY ANY CIRCUMSTANCES INTERRUPT THE PROCESS - THIS WILL MORE THAN LIKELY END UP WITH A BRICKED PHONE - NOT EVEN IF GOD HIMSELF TELLS YOU TO DO SO, OR IF THE US PRESIDENT THREATENS YOU WITH THERMO-NUCLEAR WAR
[STEP5]- Once the phone is booted, you are now returned completely to stock. You will need to re-root again, and I'd recommend S-OFF"
is this the right solution??
or should I do what the guy in this video shows?

What you need to follow is [3] s-offing problems.
It'll start you from square one and take you all the way,and obviously, avoid problems. They recommended a 2 Gb Kingston memory card. I'd find one. You're going to need a PC and lot's of downloads. I'd download everything required before trying any of the steps. Better safe than phoneless.
I figured you'll need
1-Drivers installed in your PC(follow the #didn'twork guide to get them - rather have it work first time)
2-bravo stock from the graph in alpharev's website
3-Unrevoked3 (link to it is in the tutorial)
4-The Kingston card to use to make your goldcard ( link to making goldcard in tutorial) and a SD reader to plug it alone into your PC
5-RUU download.(link in tutorial)
6- Disable HTC SYNC
Get these things before starting. They're all there in tutorial [3]. You WILL TYPE CODE in this tutorial and that's where your phone is most likely to brick. DONT misspell.DON'T put spaces unless where you we're told to. I'd write it on paper and check it before typing it in for real, so pen/ paper with you.

Help Please!!!

I'm getting the Motorola Milestone xt720 delivered soon so that I may have a fairly inexpensive phone to use on Tmobile USA out of contract. I know it isn't the best of phones I just wanted something inexpensive to use on HSPA until other phones came down in price to use with my tzones ($ 5.00 data plan). I'm coming from the HTC HD2 in which I have rooted and installed different Android Roms multiple times over (This was originally a windows mobile device). But the problems I'm having is finding precise instructions to enable this on the xt720. 1. I know that I will root with Universal Androot as this seems to be the easiest way to root. 2. I'm lost from that step forward So if someone can put something detailed together I will be so grateful. I have read and watched youtube instructions the past two weeks since placing the order but everyone is so brief with their instructions or they post small non verbal videos
I need to upgrade from 2.1 I guess ? Because most importantly, 1. I definitely need to use this phone as a Wireless Hotspot to Tether 3G, 4G speed, 2. Use HDMI for streaming INTERNET, and 3. want minimal freezes. I love the UI of MIUI so I was planning to install this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311603
MIUI t2w v2.2.10_b20120214]-[MOTOROI XT720] - DISCONTINUED.

I recently got a xt720 too and couldn't find universal androot in the market...if you cant find it either, superoneclick works too. I installed a custom rom on mine yet but I saw one where it was pretty easy to install. Its something something froyo, where you virtually just drag and drop what you download onto the root of your sd and do the entire process from your phone. We've collected all known original SBF files at http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_sholestablet/list.php
Let me know if you encounter other dead download links. I might be able to hunt them down.
Khalpower's ROMs are pretty old now. But basically there are the basic techniques you can learn from reverendkjr's videos:
1) SBF flash to restore phone to factory state (flashing back to stock tutorial & installing drivers tutorial)
2) Root and install OpenRecovery from factory state (IIRC both the khalpowers and CM6.3 videos have this, but I can't remember... it is up there in at least one of the tutorials...)
3) Flash a nandroid type ROM from OpenRecovery (install Khalpowers videos)
4) Flash an update.zip type ROM from OpenRecovery (install CM 6.3 video)
5) Advanced the fastboot boot boot.img trick (advanced)

I think these videos are very good: http://www.youtube.com/user/reverendkjr/videos?query=XT720
We've collected all known original SBF files at http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_sholestablet/list.php
Let me know if you encounter other dead download links. I might be able to hunt them down.

Ok. So let me make sure I understand this correctly. I just received the phone Monday so it is already stock 2.1. All I have to do is root it( I will use Universal Androot), Install Open recovery ( Can I get it from playstore?), and install a nandroid rom or update.zip? I have no idea what you're referencing in #5.Advanced the fastboot boot boot.img trick?
Also, because I want to install this Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311603. I have NO idea what this first direction to install the Rom means? RSD to STSKT_N_79.33.50R (Android 2.2.1)? Or is it even necessary?
Thanks again for help.
Study threads on this before you try this.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for but...
Open Recovery
[MOD]OpenRecovery XT720 01 (2011-08-30) based on Androidiani (Androidiani is a modified OR)
There is also an app to install Open Recovery. You can find it attached to the OP in this post
